White Horse Inn in Swansea

I love the Old White Horse, we come here regularly, usually for birthday celebrations and have never left disappointed. Was great to see my old pal Aaron behind the bar. The food, the drink, the staff... It's just the best around 👍

We came to The Old White Horse Inn for Sunday lunch with a large group of friends. Our table was booked for the last sitting and we were convinced that many of the dishes on the menu would be unavailable. The only thing they didn't have was one of the desserts. The service was first class, the restaurant has a friendly and cosy atmosphere and the food far exceeded our expectations. Absolutely delicious roast meals with a plentiful supply of fresh vegetables and gravy boats. Some of the people on our table had 'tricky' orders but the staff weren't phased by it and everything was served exactly as requested. We will definitely be returning as it was an excellent experience.

nice welcome orderd food i ordered mash came wv chips, had to ask for condiments an sauces, desert was very expensive i had sticky toffee pudd…. it came cold my son had the curry tasted okish? he has very upset stomach an sickness today? it is usually nice food there and service but wnt be rushing back has gone very expensive for what u have?

We really enjoyed our meal here. The atmosphere was great and the staff are very friendly. The menu was extensive and the steaks were delicious with great accompaniments. Gracie looked after us really well. Thank you . Best of all a dog menu Pixie thoroughly enjoyed her 5oz steak too.

The pub was looked really nice from the outside and the inside was very pleasant. The staff where very nice and helpful but the food look a very long time: about 45 minutes. When the food arrived the belly pork was jelly on the top and under was like leather. I sent the pork back and had fish and chips which was nice. My friend had scampi but it wasn't hot.

Went here for food yesterday 3/4/24, 4 adults 2 under 5s, staff were welcoming and friendly, food was very good, will definitely be going back.

My wife and I have been here a few times now and had food and it's always been great. We usually book but went today at short notice for a Sunday roast and they were very accommodating. It was very busy in both the restaurant and the bar. It was absolutely amazing. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Staff were friendly and attentive , couldn't fault it. If you are ever in the area or like us don't mind driving a little further a field you should try The Old White Horse.

The friendly staff found us a table on a very busy Sunday lunch time despite being a walk in. They were really warm and friendly, fantastic service and the roast dinner was fantastic. Great portions and tasted delicious, perfectly cooked. Definitely be going back!!

As a tourist in the area I would highly recommend visiting. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcomed. The service through out the meal was brilliant. The food was amazing will certainly be back next time. Also for anyone with dogs with them the pub is very dog friendly and even serves dog dinners!!

From the moment of arrival until leaving we felt valued. A warm and friendly welcome, shown to a table and served our drinks. Having ordered from the extensive menu a short wait proved worthwhile as when the food arrived it had obviously been freshly prepared. Fish and chips and a Chicken curry were served, both delicious and home made, no plastic food here! Syrup sponge to finish, to be recommended. Ignore the 10 % of negative reviews, do yourself a favour and visit if you are near by, or even, like us staying in a hotel some 20 minutes away. This is the sort of local anyone would like near to their home, sadly for us it’s 250 miles away from ours!

Absolutely astonishing service, all staff couldn’t do anymore for you, so welcoming & friendly, food is amazing & deserts are out of this world. I can’t wait for my next visit.

Stopped here after poor weather meant cutting a trip short. We were welcomed warmly and offered a table next to a stunning log burner. The pub was cozy with a great selection of real ales and beer. We could choose from a full menu or lunch offers, a great choice on both from soup of the day, to burgers, steaks or curry (vegi & vegan options too). We opted for steak and ale pie a d homemade curry. Both were delicious and came with chunky real chips. Desserts looked wonderful, but mains filled us up...maybe next time! 😋

We had a fantastic meal that was tastey, modestly priced for the beautiful quality. Everything brought out was hot, and brought at the the same time. There was plenty of gravy- which was lovely. I had the prawn cocktail, Lamb and beef dinner Chocolate tiffin. The chocolate cremeux was fantastic. Having been a waitress and in catering myself for many years, I was very impressed by the level of service (I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name, but he did mention to my partner he had been doing it for 20 years when my partner complimented the level of service he provided) Paying the bill was easy and simple, all of the staff were confident and didn’t appear to be flustered under presssure.

Booked a table for the Friday after Christmas. Planned on a family walk to the falls with a lunch after. We arrived and was greeted by a very friendly lady. We ordered drinks and three mains me another and my son. Now my son is incredibly fussy. We asked could he have the children’s chicken nuggets as an adult main as he’s autistic. They were happy to do this. Two steak and ale pies one with chips and mash and cheese garlic bread. I know the waitress was worried as my son hardly touched his but honestly he’s so fussy. We tried some and it was fine. The bread was amazing he loved that. The steak and ale was stunning, mash was lovely. Only negative is the menu said it came with garden peas and there were no peas. Other than that it was lovely. A bit pricy £71 for three of us but good quality food. Would come back, without the fussy son!

We had the best warm and friendly welcome when we visited today with our young Labrador dog! We haven’t had such impressive friendly greeting from servers in many years, they seated us with smiles, a few laughs and the pub had a very comfortable vibe, Christmas tunes playing, cosy fire near bar, fairly busy for a Winter Sunday but nice happy buzz. Just what we needed after long walk. The staff were super dog friendly offering a towel and treats for her. Natalie was our waitress, very bubbly fun character and it nice to have a few laughs with her. She did a great job at making us feel relaxed. It was funny when asked about having roasts and she instantly said what would the dog like as they offer meat trimmings for dogs. Such unusual touch but certainly enjoyed by our lab. Our roast dinners were delicious too, nicely cooked meat and separate bowls of veg and gravy. Desserts were homemade and also very decent portion sizes. Such hearty pub dishes and the best atmosphere which unfortunately we have lost in most British pubs now days!! Definitely stop in there for food or drink, thanks to Natalie and staff for making us so welcome and you gave a good Christmas buzz. Hope to be back one day!

Went here on the evening of Wednesday 6th December, for the Christmas menu? So I had a starter, main, and dessert, I had the Christmas dinner which was nothing like the previous review stating it was the worst meal ever? My Christmas dinner was the best I’ve had in along time? I didn’t mind it was plated, it made it look nicer in my opinion, The turkey was cooked lovely, the vegetables were the best I’ve had (even better than my own) it was so nice I may return for a second time? I had the Christmas pudding for dessert, like my Christmas dinner there was no fault, the pudding and the brandy sauce was lovely, having read the previous review, I’M not really sure how there making out there food was so bad? Mine was fine, perhaps they had something wrong with their tastebuds? Another thing the service was 5 star, so if your after a lovely Christmas dinner with fine Christmas tunes and 5 star service, then this is the place to go.

We went here as a last minute booking for Sunday lunch and they were very accommodating. It was very busy even though a wet windy day and there was a small wait for our table. Once seated, the food arrived quickly and was very tasty. The hostess Natalie was very friendly and helpful and dealt with any questions promptly. The food selection for our dog was also great value and Vinny opted for a dish of roast beef for £4! The dessert was very nice but fiddly trying to put the cream into the crumble which was in a cup. Aesthetically pleasing but slightly impractical! Vinny rated it 10/10.

Welcome was excellent from the staff . We arrived early and was seated and greeted with a warm welcome , staff were very attentive and our drinks order was taken, followed by our food order . Food again for our second visit was delicious and pleasing on the eye . Even my sister (Tracey) who is hard to please was impressed 😄👍❤️. This local inn is a gem and we will return very very soon

Visited for Sunday lunch and once again left feeling full after a beautiful lunch. Lovely choice of food and plenty of it - lunch comes with a huge gravy boat so you never have to ask for more. Good quality food and we really enjoy it here. Staff are all super friendly and efficient, especially Kelsey. Great food and staff, what more could you want!

This proved to be an ideal setting for our sixty-second Nurses Reunion. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and professional, and when we left, they presented us with a bottle of Prosecco…how lovely was that! A memorable evening.

Decided to visit this establishment for dinner after reading all the good reviews. We weren't disappointed, the food and service were excellent. My friend had a Prawn Cocktail starter, and I had the Veg Soup. Both delicious. And we both had the Lamb Shank which was so tender and delicious, and was a decent size. And best of all, there was a Dog menu, so Bernie our Sprollie had his own Rump Steak, and he couldn't believe his luck! Highly recommended!

Totally fell in love with this pub and more importantly the staff. They all made us feel so welcome from the minute we walked in till the minute we left. A lovely pub as well with a fantastic wood burning stove and very good beers. the menu was varied and interesting All four of us really enjoyed our food but the stand outs were the prawn cocktail (never thought I would write that in a review!) and Halloumi Fries. Special mention for the extremely dog friendly attitude and it even has a doggie menu with rump steak and chicken but Hollie loved her two sausages for £1. We are only in this area for a few more days but are determined to go back at least once. The staff are a total credit to the landlord and the area. Thank you.

Went last night for a meal me and My partner.it was my 60th.and I had the chicken ham and sweetcorn pie it was amazing and my partner had the fillet steak absolutely cooked to perfection..the waitress Natalie is so nice 2nd time I've met her feels more like a friend than a waitress and the two youngsters waiter and waitress they were so nice to.nothing was to much trouble for them..its a fab place fab food will go again in time.

Very quiet but we did find that places in this area seem to empty out around 8pm. We went around 7:30 and there were two other tables used in the restaurant. The decor was nice and the menu had a variety of food that I would love to try. I went for the 8oz Sirloin Steak which came with Chips and Portabella Mushroom and some red onion chutney which was lovely but I didn't have it as I had a side of Pepper Sauce. The steak was pretty much cooked as I ordered and everything was spot on in terms of taste. My partner had the Hunters Chicken which she also loved. The food was worth the price but there was something even better here and that was the service. I know it was quiet but we had 2 different servers that came to us both really polite and friendly and two different staff (I assume the cooks) that brought out the food. We were talking about what we were doing in the area and one of the waitresses gave us some excellent advice on what to do on our second day. The food was brilliant but I would return for the service alone.

We enjoyed our visit to the Old White Horse and will return. The staff were welcoming and accommodating and the food was tasty too.

What a fabulous find! Quickly checked Tripadvisor for recommendations as three pubs very close to each other in the same area. We hadn’t booked but we’re welcomed as a family of five with two dogs. Greeted with a fantastic smile and personality. Staff really went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Free treats for the dogs too!! Meals were slightly more expensive than usual pub grub but this wasn’t usual pub grub! It was restaurant quality. Extensive menu with a variety of flavours and top quality ingredients. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and return in future.
