Booked a table for a party of 13 for our meal after our wedding on 29.08.24. What an amazing experience, food was beautiful, all of the party did not have a bad word to say about any of the food. Staff were so attentive, constantly asking if all was OK and if there was anything we needed the whole time we were there. Highly recommend The Welsh House Swansea.

As a first time customer, I (and my party of 10) couldn't have asked for a nicer dining experience. Our server, Teresa was outstanding. (she even took a group photo for us). I only gave 4 stars for the food, as there was no lamb available.

Dreadful experience here. Staff seemed utterly incompetent and bewildered most of the time. We asked three times for a pint of water and finally had to go to the bar to get one. Also had to asktwice for a diet Pepsi. I asked for no tomato in my burger due to a mild allergy and the burger turned up with one in. I would have sent it back but the burger took over an hour to turn up I just took it out. Welsh cakes were burnt, dry, and tasted like cardboard. Service was slow and half arsed which we would have understood if the place wasn't half full. Would hate to see what service is like on a busy evening. Can't wait for this place to go the same way as La Parrilla and Marco Pierre Whites Steakhouse.

Food was outstanding waiter and waitress service was exceptional, the only downside was the male bartender who had a terrible attitude and was very unwelcoming, and made us feel really uncomfortable ordering drinks. This person really needs to be retrained in customer service.

We went to the Welsh House with friends yesterday, there were 6 of us and everyone really enjoyed, the starters were lovely and most of the mains apart from the burgers, we have had burgers previously in Cardiff and they were in a pretzel bun and were stunning, however this time they came in an ordinary floured bun and were pretty tasteless, with just a slice of lettuce and tomato which was such a shame as they are not cheap at £14.95, the chips they came with were really nice, but the burgers really let the meal down.

Unfortunately had to wait over an hour after all other members of our group had finished our food before the last person received their eat (steak) after speaking to 4 different members to enquire where it was. They cancelled the order around 50 minutes after telling us it was on the way, because we asked for a refund for the person who was now going to have to eat their meal on their own and they thought we meant that they didn’t want their food anymore. Eventually, around an hour and a half /hour and 40 mins after the food was ordered, the steak arrived and our friend ate her meal whilst others had coffee to wait for her. A refund was begrudgingly given. The person who was sent to apologise last was actually very nice but others could have done a lot better. There were a lot of staff on and it wasn’t extremely busy or anything so I really do not understand what was happening apart from some really awful communication and eating a meal by yourself quite late into the evening, while 7 people watch you, isn’t a great experience.

The food was excellent. Enjoyed the welsh meal for two. however, we went during the swansea ironman, and service was slow. We had to take our dessert away in a box as it had taken so long to be served. This was a shame because I suspect this is normally a 5* venue.

Ordered a burger, it came back pink. I asked if I could have it cooked more. It came back with no change and the waiter told me the chef said it is cooked to 75° so it's it cooked. Told him I couldn't eat it like that, it's too raw for my liking. He replied "well what do you want me to do about it" with attitude. I said I didn't know but I can't eat it like that. He said in a sturn voice "well that's what you've ordered". I just replied well I'm not eating it, I'll just eat the small amour of chips provided. I was told he'll take it back but chef said it'll be burnt then, I said that would be fine. It came back just the same, I thought I'd try it but made me feel sick, I could taste lightly cooked meat. I couldn't eat it. My daughter complained about it saying I won't be paying for it and about the disgustingly unprofessional way the easier spoke to me. She was told he was highly trained. Pity he doesn't put what he has learned into practice. She was offered for me to have another starter which I did. They charged me for 2 starters. Never again!!

Visited the Welsh house to celebrate proposing to my Fiance. We had an outside hut which was very nice and private. The steak I had was cooked perfectly to my liking and our appetisers and side dishes were also fantastic. The cockles and Savoury Welsh Cakes were particularly good!! My only piece of feedback was that the AC unit in our hut was noisy when we arrived, but turning its cooling off rectified the issue. Excellent service from Elin, she was polite, knowledgeable and catered to all of our needs. Massive thanks to the team for making our visit so special. We will definitely return with friends! In Swansea for Son’s Graduation and we book here for Graduation meal. Whereas the food was very nice, the service was appalling, in my opinion. When a waiter came to take our order, we had to wait at least 10/15 minutes for our drinks - I actually had to ask where they were. Then along wait for the food. It’s a pity the waiting marred what should have been a celebration. But, as I said, the food was good and we all enjoyed it.

Here for afternoon tea with my disabled eighty year old mother and my daughters and baby grandson. I waited over 10 mins for us to be seated when many staff standing around doing nothing. Whilst waiting for my table a lady came in with a cake for later on in the day the staff member totally ignored me and took the cake and did not return to seat me. Eventually another staff nember took us to a small table for 4 with minimum room for a pram or a disabled trolley aid right by the door. When asked if we could have a larger table which was free further down the restaurant I was advised it was reserved even though nobody Sat at the table for the 2.5 hrs we were there. After sitting for 10mins i was offered to move to another table not much bigger than the one we were which I declined. The afternoon tea was very nice but the customer service from the staff was very disappointing and they do not cater for anyone with a disability or a baby in a pram which is a minimum expected from any restaurant these days.

Very disappointed. Took forever for our order to be taken, even longer for food to arrive and when it did, it wasn't very hot. My partners side dish to his meal arrived halfway through the course, I had to get our own condiments as it was so understaffed for a busy Friday night. staff jobs being bar person/waiter/server/front of house instead of having the staff to do these jobs individually. Cutting corners leaves a detrimental effect and it showed that night. It's such a shame as I have enjoyed this place previously. *** not the staff's fault ***

Went for Sunday Lunch. Food was okay, came quite quickly. The service was terrible. Actually terrible. We waited SO long to be served, with waiters just walking past the table, we had to waive our hands and get attention for everything. Drinks (which came after our starters) and even ask for a dessert menu (did they not want the custom?) The front of house lady also needs to wear longer, smarter dresses, I know it was hot, but she kept bending over and showing everything. Wow. Would not recommend. They need some decent management to give the staff some direction and the food could do with being improved, very mediocre.

Beautiful place/food, was put off immediately with a hen-party on a PA System in the beer garden outside, but once inside you couldn't hear the racket too much, but was taken back on arrival.... Food - Really nice and as to be expected at this price point, tasty and fresh starter/mains, i ordered additional vegetables which didn't come with the meal, had to be chased/followed up to make sure they arrived, the desert chocolate brownie tasted brought in, i.e it tasted like it had a packet/wrapper around it at some point which is a shame...... Service - Really poor, after waiting 25 mins for drinks you could see the drinks on the bar waiting i was going to go up myself to collect but were eventually brought to us after asking twice, clearly were short on staff and were run ragged with the hen party outside/bar side which for me was letting the restaurant side down, upon paying i had to get up and walk out to get anyone's attention, then it was announced they were 6 staff down and apologies given, this poor service wasn't reflected in the bill, i paid and left...... I would return again, but NOT on a weekend evening sitting, i like to be able to have a conversation across the table without shouting or filling the other person in on what was just discussed to my right, as the left couldn't hear, and the slow un-attentive service due to staff shortage, another time its a lovely setting/staff/food, just not for me and two others on Saturday 29/06/2024 unfortunately. Edit.....i see 4 months ago other people complaining about service and the following statement being made - "The issues you have reported are not to the standards we thrive to achieve. We pride ourselves on our standard of service and endeavour to commit to training the team to ensure that future customers have a pleasant time with us" Clearly in the last 4 months not a lot has changed, lack of service/front-house is letting the place down.

We came in as a family at 10.00 for breakfast on Fathers Day. The decor and the menus and information booklets are excellent. We were looking forward to a lovely meal that we could recommend to visiting family and friends. HOWEVER - We waited 40 minutes for coffee & drinks and a further 15 minutes for most of the food (the pancakes came later - and the wrong version arrived!). The drinks were all good though, and the coffee was delicious. The large breakfasts were fine, but the smaller breakfasts should be served on a smaller plate, as it looks quite sad to just put almost half the food on the same size plate. We then had to get the attention of one of the very few staff who were present to ask for ketchup and brown sauce and even then she only brought one really tiny dish of each. It should be standard practice to ask if anyone on the table wants any sauces WITH the meals as the are served. The slices of sourdough toast on the meals were very small and we ended up ordering extra portions of toast. Finally - the Welsh breakfasts were not good - the 'Welsh rarebit' was spread very thinly on the one small slice of sourdough toast, and we did not expect that the laverbread and cockles would be mixed together - they are far better served separately on the plate. It is particularly sad that the WELSH breakfast should be so poor in a place that prides itself on its WELSHNESS. It then took ages for the bill to arrive. All in all - Mae angen gwelliant!!

Our waitress Ella was on point, she cared about getting our orders right, came back to check on us and this was during an exceptionally busy service time. One thing I would personally value is gluten free bread roll options - I had a naked beef burger, but it would have been even better if I could have had a roll - its a small thing, but makes the experience inclusive. Almost went in, then read 10% charge added if you ask about allergens!! Their reply states it's optional, but you must ask for it to be removed. So asking a simple question of what is in my food incurs an 10% surcharge, and given that many allergens are life threatening, would anyone be comfortable asking for the surcharge to be removed? Why not provide a surcharge if you ask if a meal is vegetarian or meets kosher, halal.

We visited the Welsh house for my daughters birthday. The food was lovely so no complaint there. During the serving of drinks the waitress kept tipping her tray forward and twice we kindly reminded her to be careful as we could see the drinks were unbalanced. I should point out I’m silver service trained and I could see she didn’t know how to safely hold the tray. At one point, after being asked twice to be careful, she tipped a whole pint of coke down my daughters back. She was absolutely soaking! I should point she’s also heavily pregnant. We accept accidents happen, the poor young waitress was mortified and we did all we could to ensure she was ok. However at no point did any senior staff come over and check my daughter was ok! It ruined the night. She has paid to have her hair done and bought a new dress and jacket, all of which were soaking. When they gave us the bill they didn’t charge us for the spilt drink!!! They also gave us a bill with and without a service charge. It was a ruined night because of the attitude of the management there. Honestly do not go there if you are celebrating a special occasion as there are plenty of restaurants in Swansea who would be far more caring and look after you.

We had a lovely afternoon with friends and family at the Welsh House. The decor was attractive and staff friendly, although they were not very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious but unfortunately no vegetarian options as only roasts are served on a Sunday, which is not obvious on the website, and the only vegetarian choice was unavailable. The dinner was presented beautifully - veg was brought out in small side plates that didn’t serve all 7 of us, although the staff were very obliging and brought out additional servings as needed. (Note that, as stated on the menu, the cauliflower cheese only comes with the sharing roast so you’ll need to order as an additional side if you’re having any other roast.) The seven of us were seated at two tables pushed together that would have seated four people comfortably: to make matters more inconvenient, the tables were different heights so to avoid unstable plates and spilt gravy, two of us had to squash up into our neighbour’s space. Luckily, we were able to move to some comfy sofas by the fire for after-dinner drinks and games (available in the corner by the bar). So, all in all, we had a good time, despite some potentially avoidable issues.

The booking process was a shambles. The afternoon tea was ok. Unfortunately the waiter spilled a large glass of red wine over the table and me. The management reaction to the incident was none existent and we were charged for the wine.

Was really looking forward to having a meal at The Welsh House after seeing all their posts online. Went today for breakfast and ordered The Welsh Breakfast which was described as "Welsh rarebit on toast with cockles laverbread, crispy streaky bacon and poached Welsh egg £9.95". We waited a long time after ordering our food. When it eventually arrived, there was no Welsh rarebit just plain toast. The portions are quite small. The waiter didn't come back to ask how the meals were. We were seated near the kitchen prep counter and throughout our meal a chef was chopping food constantly. The noise was really irritating and we found it difficult to hold a conversation. When the bill came, I gave my feedback on the meal to the waiter. He wasn't really interested. No one came back to us to discuss the complaint. So we left. We have no intention of returning. The service was poor, the meals were not as described, the waiter was totally uninterested and worst of all there was a 10% service charge. I believe tips should be given based on your appreciation of the food , service and the whole experience , which often means I leave far more than 10%. However to have to pay 10% on top of a bill which in my opinion was not value for money and for poor service is annoying. Worst restaurant I have ever been to.

We visited the restaurant over the weekend with our disabled son. We were met at the door and given a choice of seating as our son was in his wheelchair. Although busy our orders were taken quickly by Erin who answered all our questions and made some good suggestions as to the menu. Both food and drinks swiftly followed. Good portions and price is comparable with other restaurants. One point which I don't agree with is that there is a 10% service charge automatically added to your bill.

I was staying in Swansea on business and had dinner at the Welsh House. I'm so glad I did! The food was excellent and good value, the music was great, and my waitress Meg was brilliant. I will 100% visit again when I'm next in the area.

Visited for the first time today for breakfast. We were attended to by staff very promptly and shown to our table..The restaurant was quiet as it had just opened. I ordered the Welsh eggs benedict, poached eggs, streaky bacon on sourdough toast with rarebit sauce. It was delicious, perfect poached eggs, tasty bacon and a cheesy rarebit sauce, suited me perfectly as I don't like hollandaise, at £5.95 was very good value. My husband had the standard breakfast, served nice and hot, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato, mushroom, egg, hash browns and fried sourdough again at £6.95, very good value. .. The waiting staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive.

Booked for afternoon tea for a party of 5. We were seated in a booth, which was nice. Afternoon tea was disappointing- sandwiches containing tomatoes were soggy and inedible, one small pot jam and clotted cream between 2 people for the scones which was not enough, none of what was presented was home cooked. Very poor in comparison to other restaurants afternoon tea. Tea and coffee arrived as we were finishing eating. Ordered cocktails, again very poor. Presented in a wine glass with no effort made and at £8 I would expect it to look like a cocktail. Service was poor, it may have been where we were sat but felt we were forgotten and had to gesture for any type of service. The toiled are in need of some work, mot the cleanest. Won't be rushing back here.

Booked in for 1.00pm for Sunday lunch for 6 of us 24th March. We're shown our table and drinks ordered , we chose the trio of meats for 2 x3. That's all I can say was what a fabulous meal. Two generous thick tender sliced of Pork ,Turkey and Beef. Accompanied by big Yorkshire pudding each. Roast Potatoes and Patsnips , absolutely gorgeous 2 stuffing balls each and sumptuous Cauliflower Cheese , Swede , Carrots and Peas. The gravy was so gorgeous thick and velvet and topped up during the lunch. Two of us had a luxurious sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and my daughter had a welsh cake stack with chantile cream. A couple of coffees to finish off , which had a good rich roast taste and all done by 2.50pm. Staff were great and the atmosphere had a good buzz. Definitely will return !!

Food appreciation was mixed. Faggots, definitely worth it but one member not so sure about belly of pork. The main drawback was the live music. The singer seemed to feel that we were there to listen to him and no-one else. People sitting next to each other could not hear each other which was a pity as it was quite a while since we had seen family members.

Randomly decided to go out on a Tuesday night and the Welsh House in Swansea was the choice. We asked for and were seated in a lovely booth, a bottle of fizz and relax. Great music playing contributed to a lovely atmosphere, including Welsh bands like the Stereophonics. Our waiter, Meg, was just lovely, exactly the right amount of attentive, being patient with us as we only ordered starters, then mains after a break of half an hour as we didn’t want to rush the meal. I had Welsh rarebit to start, my wife ordered the mushrooms on toast. Our mains were fish & chips plus chicken in a white wine sauce with a leek mornay, the food was delicious. Three thumbs up from me, we intend to keep coming back.

Terrible first experience. From bringing the wrong choice of food ordered - ok mistakes happen - to then witnessing the chef rolling her eyes on return. To have the dish returned after approximately 5 minutes under the light top to be told chef said eat...
