Sadly the roast dinner did not taste as great as it looked, I had hard not crispy roast potatoes and 4 pigs in blankets cost basically a pound each. However the bread and butter pudding was delicious. Hopefully we went just on an off day, as I have heard great things about this chain.

Had afternoon tea..it was nice..bit basic but enjoyable. It's a big place we went on a chilly day and it was cold in there . Service was good and attentive..we had a voucher for the tea and I would say that the discounted price we paid was what it was worth . Their main menu looks good though. I would recommend you give it a try .

Honestly just really crap. We went for the flavours of wales 8 course dining experience and it was completely disappointing. Food: It wasn’t until course 6 that something half tasty actually came out, then when it came to our ‘mains’ we must have had half a steak shared between the 2 of us. The welshcakes were severely undercooked and brownie was just inedible. Our portion sizes were way off, which we would understand as it was the tasting menu, but other tables having the same dining experiences as us had more reasonable portion sizes. Service: We were initially placed at a table that was right next door to the serving part of the bar so the waiting staff were just congregating around our table all the time, lucky another table in the section freed up so we asked to move. This wasn’t a problem but after that, nobody checked on us as we were being served, bear in mind it was quiet enough. When we shared our disappointment in the food, nobody cared or they just giggled and walked off. It’s a shame because it’s such a great idea to have a tasting menu with all Welsh produce but it’s so poorly executed. Won’t return and wouldn’t recommend.

Visited for lunch today. Had the most wonderful Cawl. Bursting with flavour served with crusty bread, Sir Gar butter (sprinkled with sea salt) and a hunk of Welsh Dragon cheese. One of the best I've ever had. The staff were wonderful, very friendly. Added bonus, doggie friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you

We came as a group of 4 to celebrate a reunion. Had to wait several minutes to be seated, and then another 20 minutes to be asked what drinks we wanted. Meanwhile every time I looked over at the counter there was a member of staff cleaning cutlery, so at least our knives and forks were polished. Food arrived relatively quickly and was average (some bits better than others), but service was pretty poor throughout. Once our plates were cleared we weren’t offered any dessert, eventually when we asked to see the dessert menu we were told the kitchen had closed. 5 minutes later, server comes back to tell us that they could do desserts, so we ordered. 5 minutes more and the server returned to say that they couldn’t do those desserts, because the kitchen was closed… drinks orders were taken and incorrect orders given, we had to ask that items we didn’t receive were removed from the bill. Not once were we offered an apology or any gesture of goodwill. We went on to their sister venue for a final drink (the wine house) to literally be asked “how were your desserts?” When we walked in… maybe their idea of a hilarious joke? All in all I would not recommend this restaurant, but maybe we should have realised that when we went in on St David’s day and it was pretty empty.

The Welsh House - it looks as though it should be good, but it was a let down. Food was average, service was awful. We should have walked straight back out, when we saw the almost empty "Welsh House" on St Davids Day. Our first sign that something wasn't right. We waited for minimum 20 mins for someone to ask if we would like some drinks, only for 2 other servers to ask straight after. None of them had the forethought to ask if we wanted to order our food. We had to ask to do this when our cocktails finally arrived. The food was alright. the cockle popcorn was actually quite tasty. My lamb chops (ordered medium) came a little on the tough side, but all in all the food was pretty tasty. Once again, we were left and forgotten. We were there for drinks and food, begging them to take our money in return for drinks and food...but alas the kitchen was closed...no puds for us. Oh Wait, it's open again...take our order....oh no, it's closed again. No puds, so we'll have some drinks. We ordered 4 drinks, 3 arrived, one of which was not our order. The waitress/bartender tried to blame the "new girl," a tactic that didn't go down well with us, especially as the new girl had definitely added the drinks. We went across to The wine house after...and quite honestly that was just bizarre. The management of both these places need to take some pride in these venues, sort training, and put customers first.

Had a lovely time, good quality food and good service and somewhere we'd look forward t9 returning to. Two slight issues, The food was great (just to reiterate!) let down by the bread and butter pudding, real lack of flavor and no dried fruit (a staple part of a bread and butter pudding!) so it was like eating sweet bread and custard. The menu has different prices for the deserts that then bill (£1 more on the bill than the menu) but didn't notice until we went home (only £3 difference), the staff did mention something about updates so it seems the menu and system aren't in sync.

Food was nice but everything else was very poor. With over £300 spent for lunch not really good enough. Left my number for a manager call back. Be interesting to see if someone does. Had to chase for starter, they asked us what we ordered despite prepaying and pre-ordering. Was put in an outside pod with no decorations, crackers or even salt and pepper on the table. 2 crackers were brought for the children after it was mentioned despite 5 in party. Pointed out the issues to a temporary manager because regular manager was in kitchen. We paid the same as diners in the restaurant yet felt because we had children in the party we were pushed out into the pods. Party either side of us had children too. They offered 25% off our drinks but as we already had one drink and were driving 25% off 3 soft drinks doesn't cut it when £300 was spent. One party member ordered the bread and butter pudding but had to wait was then asked do you want it or take it home in a box? Was eventually brought to the table and was asked in front if the temp manager do you want it? No tea or coffee was offered despite it being paid for as part of the package. I was first there at 1130 am bought a coffee until the others arrived. Booked in at 12 waited 50 mins for starters and didn't leave there till 10 mins to 3. Totally let down by this organisation. 1st time out for xmas lunch too! Total fiasco.(Update manager called back a.m. 26/12/24) who apologised and explained there had been an issue in kitchen a chef had badly burned his arm and was taken to A&E, issue also with another. I explained there were good points, food was nice and nice touch with the little gift for the children of a Christmas beaker. The manager apologised again and asked for us to give the organisation another chance which we will and negotiated for a visit in the future.... UPDATE Sunday 24th January 2025 Return visit offered by manager as a second chance after Christmas Day Lunch. Totally different experience. Service from a pleasant smiley young man, food was lovely, my grandchildren were accommodated and their food was nice. Manager explained about the unfortunate issues that had happened on Christmas day, so we are glad we gave them a second chance. We will return to try the weekday menu in the future..Thank you again for acknowledging there was a customer service issue and addressing it appropriately.

Honestly without a doubt the best fish and chips my partner and I have ever had! The batter was so light and crispy and those chips were absolutely out of this world good, I don't normally finish all the chips or fries that come as side when I order a meal but for these I absolutely made an exception, deliciously well cooked! I recently had the chance to enjoy a Christmas dinner at The Welsh House Swansea, for us as a family it was the first time dining out on Christmas Day. Whilst the food was exceptional, the overall experience was marred by several service issues and a lack of festive touches. The positives were that the food was very tasty and great. Unfortunately, the service was a major letdown. Our starters arrived at different times, with some of us waiting while others had already begun eating, which felt disjointed. When it came to dessert, one of our party had to wait a full 20 minutes for theirs to be served as it hadn’t been cooked, even though everyone else had been served already. This was frustrating, especially when no follow-up was made to ask how everything was or to check in with us during the meal. We also had to chase down drink orders, as they weren’t proactively offered, and the server didn’t clear our plates in a timely manner. It’s understandable that the restaurant was busy given the time of year, but the lack of attention to detail really impacted our experience. Additionally, the lack of festive décor was disappointing. Our booth wasn’t decorated at all, and there were no Christmas crackers or other seasonal touches, which felt like a missed opportunity to make the evening feel more special. When asking why have others have Christmas crackers, we were told they did not have enough for the amount of people today. Overall, while the food was fantastic, the poor service and lack of holiday spirit really detracted from what could have been a wonderful Christmas dinner. We understand it’s a busy period, but the combination of service issues and the lack of festive atmosphere unfortunately did spoil the experience for us.

Having had quite a nice Christmas dinner here on works do, was looking forward to a late lunch for a special occasion. Service was really poor - it wasn't exceptionally busy but staff really inattentive, not given a drinks menu when we sat down, waited 10 mins to order drinks. Sharing starter was really tasty but main meals were disappointing - average at best ans hubby's steak was cold. It took about 8 mins before we could get anyone's attention to give feedback on it & after a sorry, I'll tell the chef we never heard anything further, same with telling the next waiter who appeared [slowly] to ask if our meal was okay. We had to flag down someone else to order a glass of wine and that seemed like an inconvenience. Even securing the bill & trying to pay was a mission. 🤣 All in all, a really disappointing experience. we rarely get a date meal out together without kids now but poor service, poor execution & overpriced for what they were delivering. Such a shame as the venue itself has a nice vibe but leaves so much to be desired, staff seem seasonal & not what you'd expect in manner/attentiveness given the price tag/atmosphere the Welsh House displays.

We had a lovely lunch at The Welsh House last month. If you’re looking for true Welsh flavours, this is the place to go. The atmosphere was relaxed, with a cosy atmosphere inside. It was a sunny Friday so lots of groups celebrating. We started with some Welsh classics - cockles and laverbread on rarebit crostini, and a hearty lamb cawl. Both were delicious! Very happy that they served cawl the proper way - with cheese! For mains, we had the beef burger with Welsh dragon cheese in a beer bun, and a rump steak with chunky chips. Everything tasted super fresh. Great to see such a strong focus on local Welsh ingredients, and the huge Welsh drinks menu was spot on with choices like Gower Gold beer and Aber Falls gin. Highly recommend if you’re in Swansea and want to try local Welsh food in a friendly, relaxed setting!

Firstly I will point out that when we arrived and eventually seated we were told that service would be slow as they were waiting for staff to arrive. Bit chaotic to start with but it came together. The food itself was delicious, we order two of the sharing Sunday roasts bit found half of our meat on the other platter. Missing stuffing balls etc but there was enough food for two. Trying to get someone’s attention to put it right was a struggle. Our party ordered two cups of tea. They bought two cups and a pot of tea. Literally just enough for a cup each. When challenged we’re told that is the way it is. When asked for a top up of hot water we were told no. One of our party went to the bar area to get the hot water and they did concede. Shouldn’t have been so hard but the price of the tea you would think you would get more than a small cup each. Considering the delays to service and all you would think a free refill the right thing to do. I would go again as the food was nice but service was a let down this time.

We ordered a drink each and then some food. My partner opted for the lamb main dish. I have to say it didn’t look appetising when it arrived and only as he is polite and hungry that he eat it. Some times there are places where you desire the special experience, the quality ingredients, expertise, local produce and genuine service - that just don't deliver. You leave feeling a little frustrated, robbed of the exchange of vulgar coin for quality and care. Thankfully, I can report this not one of those places! It is easy to access with a friendly welcome. There is no pressure, you are not rushed. There is music and comfort, relaxing from the offset. I'm a hoary 42 year old dad, my daughter an inquisitive 11 year old that never clears her plate. I chose my staple favourite of belly pork, with fondant potato, cabbage and beautifully green shoots. It was truly decadent, the pork was beautifully smooth, lightly seasoned to enhance it's specific flavour, and the fondant potato was wonderfully cooked, sweet and buttery. The red wine thyme just was outstanding; a true mix of 80s flavours, but with modern technique that produce a wonderful, comforting yet vibrant savoury note that enhanced the dish. I paired this with the Domains mazilly Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Beaune, which worked wonderfully to match the savoury note of the jux, whilst matching the sweetnes inherent in belly pork. My daughter adores Mac & cheese (much to my chagrin) and normally consumes a few mouthfuls before declaring herself full. This time she cleared the bowl, ate the accompanying peas and savoured the remaining jux from me with her mashed potato. Despite this decadence; I had wine yes unembibed, so we ordered dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed a specially prepared cheese board with amazing crackers, whilst my daughter chose her usual vanilla ice-cream, and was not disappointed. The wonderful Teresa and JJ that made us feel so comfortable, providing such wonderful dishes and wonderful help, are great examples of caring professionally about customers. Thank you for a special experience for myself and my daughter.

Booked a table for a party of 13 for our meal after our wedding on 29.08.24. What an amazing experience, food was beautiful, all of the party did not have a bad word to say about any of the food. Staff were so attentive, constantly asking if all was OK and if there was anything we needed the whole time we were there. Highly recommend The Welsh House Swansea.

As a first time customer, I (and my party of 10) couldn't have asked for a nicer dining experience. Our server, Teresa was outstanding. (she even took a group photo for us). I only gave 4 stars for the food, as there was no lamb available.

Dreadful experience here. Staff seemed utterly incompetent and bewildered most of the time. We asked three times for a pint of water and finally had to go to the bar to get one. Also had to asktwice for a diet Pepsi. I asked for no tomato in my burger due to a mild allergy and the burger turned up with one in. I would have sent it back but the burger took over an hour to turn up I just took it out. Welsh cakes were burnt, dry, and tasted like cardboard. Service was slow and half arsed which we would have understood if the place wasn't half full. Would hate to see what service is like on a busy evening. Can't wait for this place to go the same way as La Parrilla and Marco Pierre Whites Steakhouse.

Food was outstanding waiter and waitress service was exceptional, the only downside was the male bartender who had a terrible attitude and was very unwelcoming, and made us feel really uncomfortable ordering drinks. This person really needs to be retrained in customer service.

We had a lovely, delicious Sunday lunch (sharing roast for 2), and the service from all of the staff, especially Lilly and Luke was great - it was our first time there and we will definitely be back! There was also live music outside which sounded great!

We went to the Welsh House with friends yesterday, there were 6 of us and everyone really enjoyed, the starters were lovely and most of the mains apart from the burgers, we have had burgers previously in Cardiff and they were in a pretzel bun and were stunning, however this time they came in an ordinary floured bun and were pretty tasteless, with just a slice of lettuce and tomato which was such a shame as they are not cheap at £14.95, the chips they came with were really nice, but the burgers really let the meal down.

Unfortunately had to wait over an hour after all other members of our group had finished our food before the last person received their eat (steak) after speaking to 4 different members to enquire where it was. They cancelled the order around 50 minutes after telling us it was on the way, because we asked for a refund for the person who was now going to have to eat their meal on their own and they thought we meant that they didn’t want their food anymore. Eventually, around an hour and a half /hour and 40 mins after the food was ordered, the steak arrived and our friend ate her meal whilst others had coffee to wait for her. A refund was begrudgingly given. The person who was sent to apologise last was actually very nice but others could have done a lot better. There were a lot of staff on and it wasn’t extremely busy or anything so I really do not understand what was happening apart from some really awful communication and eating a meal by yourself quite late into the evening, while 7 people watch you, isn’t a great experience.

Best place in Swansea! The food is incredible and the staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to make your experience perfect. We have visited a few times, however this time we had the private room hire for a post graduation meal and it could not have been any better! They even decorate the room and managed to serve a group of 12 with no issues at all!

The food was excellent. Enjoyed the welsh meal for two. however, we went during the swansea ironman, and service was slow. We had to take our dessert away in a box as it had taken so long to be served. This was a shame because I suspect this is normally a 5* venue.

Ordered a burger, it came back pink. I asked if I could have it cooked more. It came back with no change and the waiter told me the chef said it is cooked to 75° so it's it cooked. Told him I couldn't eat it like that, it's too raw for my liking. He replied "well what do you want me to do about it" with attitude. I said I didn't know but I can't eat it like that. He said in a sturn voice "well that's what you've ordered". I just replied well I'm not eating it, I'll just eat the small amour of chips provided. I was told he'll take it back but chef said it'll be burnt then, I said that would be fine. It came back just the same, I thought I'd try it but made me feel sick, I could taste lightly cooked meat. I couldn't eat it. My daughter complained about it saying I won't be paying for it and about the disgustingly unprofessional way the easier spoke to me. She was told he was highly trained. Pity he doesn't put what he has learned into practice. She was offered for me to have another starter which I did. They charged me for 2 starters. Never again!!

Visited the Welsh house to celebrate proposing to my Fiance. We had an outside hut which was very nice and private. The steak I had was cooked perfectly to my liking and our appetisers and side dishes were also fantastic. The cockles and Savoury Welsh Cakes were particularly good!! My only piece of feedback was that the AC unit in our hut was noisy when we arrived, but turning its cooling off rectified the issue. Excellent service from Elin, she was polite, knowledgeable and catered to all of our needs. Massive thanks to the team for making our visit so special. We will definitely return with friends! Thanks again Welsh House Team!

Here for afternoon tea with my disabled eighty year old mother and my daughters and baby grandson. I waited over 10 mins for us to be seated when many staff standing around doing nothing. Whilst waiting for my table a lady came in with a cake for later on in the day the staff member totally ignored me and took the cake and did not return to seat me. Eventually another staff nember took us to a small table for 4 with minimum room for a pram or a disabled trolley aid right by the door. When asked if we could have a larger table which was free further down the restaurant I was advised it was reserved even though nobody Sat at the table for the 2.5 hrs we were there. After sitting for 10mins i was offered to move to another table not much bigger than the one we were which I declined. The afternoon tea was very nice but the customer service from the staff was very disappointing and they do not cater for anyone with a disability or a baby in a pram which is a minimum expected from any restaurant these days.

In Swansea for Son’s Graduation and we book here for Graduation meal. Whereas the food was very nice, the service was appalling, in my opinion. When a waiter came to take our order, we had to wait at least 10/15 minutes for our drinks - I actually had to ask where they were. Then along wait for the food. It’s a pity the waiting marred what should have been a celebration. But, as I said, the food was good and we all enjoyed it.

We went for Sunday lunch. The food was good but the service was terrible. Waited 25 minutes before our order was taken. Unfortunately it was an off night for them. The rump steak was bland and the peppercorn sauce was too overpowering. The side veggies with the Cottage pie were over cooked. Service was slow and had to correct the bill a couple of times. The cottage pie itself was delicious, a long with the chips that came with the steak, but most of all the mintes gravy with the lamb was the best. I'd give them another try but tonight the staff were not prepared to handle the number of groups that were there.

Went for Sunday Lunch. Food was okay, came quite quickly. The service was terrible. Actually terrible. We waited SO long to be served, with waiters just walking past the table, we had to waive our hands and get attention for everything. Drinks (which came after our starters) and even ask for a dessert menu (did they not want the custom?) The front of house lady also needs to wear longer, smarter dresses, I know it was hot, but she kept bending over and showing everything. Wow. Would not recommend. They need some decent management to give the staff some direction and the food could do with being improved, very mediocre.

Very disappointed. Took forever for our order to be taken, even longer for food to arrive and when it did, it wasn't very hot. My partners side dish to his meal arrived halfway through the course, I had to get our own condiments as it was so understaffed for a busy Friday night. staff jobs being bar person/waiter/server/front of house instead of having the staff to do these jobs individually. Cutting corners leaves a detrimental effect and it showed that night. It's such a shame as I have enjoyed this place previously. *** not the staff's fault ***

Awful, ordered a 10 wings starter to share, unfortunately only 8 wings arrived on the plate, counted with the waitress and another 2 arrived about 5 mins later. ordered a large mixed grill and arrived without the chicken breast and sausages, pointed out to waitress and took the plate away and arrived later with all items this time but chips and mushrooms cold. Will not be dining there again.

This is one of the only pubs right in the city centre and as such you'd think it would be better...sadly it's lacking. Whilst the real ale was okay other drinks are average at best. The food is typical pub food nothing special. However it's the toilets that really pull this place down they are badly in need of refurbishment, the cubicles in the ladies are so small they're a joke...and no disabled facilities...
