Each course was full of flavour. Each was presented beautifully. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend a visit.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for a few drinks, decided to have food in the bar. Drinks, service was brilliant food was a mixture of some main meals and the tapas - all of which were amazing. The sea food linguine was so good!! We were a party of 4 and were all really impressed with the team, atmosphere, food, and entertainment. 5 starts from us 👍👍

We had four mains paid for two of them ,say no more

Went for a roast dinner. It was nice. The service was good. I think the price was very fair. All in all a nice play to eat and drink.

Service was slow and not very nice. Had finished the drink before the food arrived.We ordered avocado on toast with bacon. It was one piece of toast cut in two, cold and not very nice looking. On top of it, it was expensive

This restaurant was so picturesque at night, made even more so by the lights and the surrounding water. I would say this is a perfect date night spot. It was virtually empty when we went but the service was immaculate. Although the food was presented beautifully, the flavours and textures didn’t wow me, however I would come again if I ever decide to revisit the city.

Thursday 21st July - We asked for a table for four, got told to wait to be seated- no problem. After Waiting 15 minutes we were told the restaurant is not yet open, it opens at 5PM. Both British members of staff were behind the bar infront of us for 15 minutes as we waited- so if the resturant was not open, why ask us to wait? Whilst other dinners were seated already, it can only mean one thing- racism at its finest because we were clearly visitors in town? Should be ashamed of the two male staff members at the bar!

Myself and my partner only had drinks but the place was fabulous. Clean and modern yet still having a welcoming vibe. The staff were pleasant and my gin and tonic was to die for. Will definitely be returning.

Is quite nice but not fine dining , after asking for 20 mins beween starter and mains the mains had been left under the heat lamps !!

Food very good atmosphere great in the restaurant too noisy in the lounge. Service second to none. Excellent evening out. And yes we will return to repeat the process. Recommended

The food was deliciously rich and bursting with flavour and and the portions were more than generous. The waiters were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. I found the music in the bar to be a bit loud for my taste, and the floor was a little dirty in the restaurant, but overall it was wonderful. I’d definitely come here again!

Hake and chips - beautiful light tasty batter and hake. Belly pork, dauphinoisse potatoes - pork was cooked lovely, however dry bland potato dauphinoisse, broccoli and parsnip, parsnip was undercooked not al-dente. Perfume like taste on the broccoli, really really disappointed and no feedback from chef.

My husband booked here for my birthday meal, high expectations as a number of friends had recommended this place for Sunday lunch. On arrival, we were told no booking had been made - and told we must have called the Scotland restaurant (even though we showed the lady 01792......). Anyway, was rectified by the manager who manages to sit all of us at a table. Food was lovely, really good. I went for the beef, as they'd run out of lamb. It was good, potatoes, Yorkshire, sauces all lovely. Started with calamari, to be honest had much better. Service was very slow, granted a busy day, but still really slow. Wait staff were amazing, couldn't do enough. Will definitely return, but not in a huge rush!

Went for Sunday lunch. Excellent food, good servicing catering for gluten free etc.

Had an amazing meal on Christmas eve! The service was brilliant and they used our names, after we had sent our pre orders in. This made it feel much more personal :) The food was absolutely stunning too, the best paté and chutney combo I've ever eaten! This isn't my first time in the river house, and I will most definitely be returning again soon :)

Went for a pre Christmas lunch with family. The food was good (it's Xmas lunches, so it was pre-ordered limited menu options), staff were polite, helpful, no pressure. It's our third Xmas eve lunch here in about 5 years, and we've had a good time every time. The restaurant was busy but there were plenty of staff around. The staff are very professional and helpful. We will be back.

Hell of a feed in the River house last night. Can't move this morning , and all this for 30 bucks

An absolute disgrace.....once a year we are lucky enough as a company to gather together and celebrate Christmas. This was blown apart by the experience we had at the River house. Almost an hour late with our table....to compensate a bottle of Prosecco was offered.....between 20 people. When we finally sat down we were split one side of the room to the other. 10 at one table 10 at the other....talk about splitting a party up. Food arrives after an hour...cold ..main course another 45 min wait.... shocking size...do your self a favour and bring a sandwich on your person. Dessert another 45 wait...a waste of time. Exorbitant prices for the experience...we all spent the rest of the night talking about how bad this was and was left with cold bad taste in our mouths...Avoid at all costs.

Really lovely place to have a drink

Food wasn't quite up to its usual standard. Water was lukewarm for the table. 'Large' glass of wine was more like a medium glass. This used to be our favourite restaurant but isn't after the last visit

Lovely place to sit, eat whilst you watch the world go by. Friendly staff, dog friendly inside, can't wait to visit in the summer.

Just went there for pre birthday meal and drinks, have to say we were both very disappointed, looks lovely, but only 1 gluten free option which was steak, and unfortunately not even nice steak. Chips, wine and cider were good, but expensive just for those 3 things to be nice. Won't be returning. I still have no idea why people still go there with the attitude shown in their reply. Much better food and lovely staff in other areas, saying someone needs to go to specsavers and calling them pathetic is just shocking!

Had a lovely lunch, very tasty and well presented. Would have given 5🌟, but the portions were a bit small. (for a main course three slices of chicken breast, and the cheesecake could have been a bit more). Staff were friendly and helpful.

Atmosphere is decent but the food is poor.

A decidedly mediocre experience for the price. Food was good, hats off to the chef and they found us a table at short notice. But the service was awful and the red wine tasted raw ...malbec is usually a safe bet but it was terrible, the Shiraz wasn't much better. The waitress looked down her nose at us as we left :(

Found the place very clean and well maintained. The service was good, although the restaurant was basically empty. Found the food incredibly bland and stale.

Staff very impatient which showed on their faces. Steaks not as good as they could have been. Asked for drinks for the table twice only to be told by two waiters we would have to wait as they were attending another table. Decided not to go for a meal there again

looked really nice on our 1st visit sat then ordered they got food order wrong then when we checked they did not put the order through . had our meals after 30 minutes wait and the meals came before the cutlery ect then and must say wont be heading to this place again no apologies for not putting the order and reading it back to make sure all was correct then had to wait another 10 minutes for the order that was not put through we had our food and was eaton before the meal that was mist came

Lovely Sunday roast 🤤 best roast beef I have ever had!

We can't fault this place.. First time to Swansea...what a great introduction to the area. The food was outstanding, the service attentive and the atmosphere relaxed and lovely vibe.

Our new favourite restaurant, thankyou all. Will see you again.

Had a date here tonight and the staff went above and beyond to make it perfect, the set candles and flowers for me provided perfect service and made a special night run smooth, thank you too all the staff who were on tonight you made a couple very happy

Amazing Sunday roast! Only ever been to the River House for drinks outside! Booked very last minute at 1pm for 3pm! Very accommodating, quick service and fabulous food! Especially the gravy! A great set menu price! Will be back

Visited today to have sunday lunch with my boyfriend and was disappointed to find a bug in my broccoli. While the manager replaced it, which we appreciated, he proceeded to explain that bugs in food sometimes happen. It didn't sit well with me. To add to the disappointment, we weren't offered any dessert; they simply placed the bill on the table. The overall experience left me feeling quite unsettled. We won't be coming back.

Loved it. Lunch with hubby. The area in which it is situated is great, alongside the river Tawe. Service from Raz, our waiter, was excellent, as was the food. I opted for the 2 course lunch time offer whilst my husband opted for items not included in that but not expensive, and we also had a bottle of wine. Sadly, no room for dessert. Really good and realistically priced. Won't be long before we return.

Only gluten free option.syeak and chips £22.00.!!.steak was 60%grissal and fat,the rest chewy..chips nice,but for that price go to a chip shop.the worst excuse of a meal I've ever had !. avoid like the black death of ole London town..!!!

A bit on the pricier side but good breakfast

Extremely poor experience from The River House. Starters arrived well before our drinks, even though we ordered drinks first. They then forgot my main meal and offered nothing to make up for their error, not even an apology. Then to top it all off, they overcharged me for the meal, I contested it and they claimed they resolved it. However, after checking the amended bill they had still overcharged by £25. Again, no apology, just a very poor attitude from the manager and waitress. Be sure to check your bill if you're visiting but you'd be better off just going elsewhere. Most definitely won't be returning and I hope the owner reads this review and takes the feedback onboard. I've had drinks there on numerous occasions so I was looking forward to dining at the restaurant but the excitement was most definitely short lived.

Had a really poor experience tonight in River house which would make me not want to return. The service was horrendous. We got over charged a for a meal and got forced into paying for it then when we questioned it eventually after going back and forth we managed to get a refund no apology from the manager in charge or the waitress serving us. Still been over charged for 2 3 course meals that we never had so avoid River House unless you want to be scammed into being charged for things that you haven't had. Check your bills thoroughly if you are in a large party before you leave.

Had a few beers in the sun reminded us of Newcastle had some garlic bread as a snack was delicious. Bar service but hit and miss but was busy

Visited for a beer and wine on a luvly sunny afternoon, sat outside by the water. Friendly welcome from staff, great location to people watch. Luvly restaurant and inside seating area. Enjoyed our visit :) :)

Lovely atmosphere and very clean. Tasty food but small portions. We were a large group and pre ordered so was disappointed that the timing and organisation of the food coming out was poor. Wow to the reply from the owner. The food was lovely like I said and I still gave a large tip. I was pleased but I am giving my account of my experience that day!

Chicken salad was bad ..half bag of salad with piece of anemic looking chicken wet inside. Not 100 per cent sure it was cooked. No dressing or sauce on food. Hid the chicken under the dry wilted salad.....Will defo swerve in future

Food was a bit disappointing, bread roll (substituted for a muffin) seemed stale, as did the ham. Coffee was weak, although well presented. Maybe just because we went on a Monday for brunch, but none of the food seemed particularly fresh. Location and service was faultless though.

Had an amazing ribeye here with my girlfriend to have a very late celebration of Valentine's, perfectly cooked to our specifications. Servers were attentive, fast, and professional. Great view if you sit next to a window! Overall, lovely place to have a fancier dinner than usual for a special occasion, so of course it will be a bit more expensive than you're used to.

Only popped in for a coffee, but beautiful place,friendly. Toilets very clean and maintained, in a lovely location. Was quiet when we went in, but it was a bad day weather wise .

Food was fantastic. Service was great. Value for money was good also. This was a hugely pleasant surprise and I recommend visiting. I'll definitely be returning!

Stunning food, lovely atmosphere and great service

First visit here for Sunday lunch! Had a 3 course meal, the beef was cooked perfectly! And the strawberry pannacotta was soo tasty! the portions were just right and all dishes arrived quickly! Our waiter was excellent, service with a smile never goes unnoticed! Would highly recommend:)

Honestly an extremely average venue for one carrying a 'fine dining' tag. I attended as part of a group, as such we had a set menu. The calamari was overcooked, so was rubbery and had its coating flaking off. My main, chicken supreme wasn't bad. It remained moist but came with part of the breast bone still attached (I found this off putting). The smashed potatoes were a highlight of the dish. Desert, sticky toffee pudding was okay. But extremely average considering how many places over the same desert at a better standard. Staff services for food was brilliant, they were sincere and professional. However, payment was difficult. Despite knowing exactly what I needed to pay the manager seemed incredibly flustered and unsure how to take payment from me. This ended our evening in frustration.

My partner took me out for a nice meal for my birthday, when we got there the place looked nice and our waiter was fine , my partner had booked in advance and put an allergy for the table notes , this was discussed with us when we were sat and the kichen was informed. We were told what we could and couldn't have and then we ordered , we started with drinks and appetisers, about 5 mins in to this I started having an allergic reaction and our waiter was clearly not trained in how to deal with the situation. Nothing was done so my partner escorted me out and called a cab to pick us up right away , it was serious and I ended up in hospital. The next day I had a phone call from the restaurant checking if I was okay , and I asked for a formal apology or I would take further action, I was denied this as the kichen claimed that it wasn't their fault!, That the food served to me wasn't checked for allergies, I had a phone call the day after from the head chef who apologied and said that he would get the general manager to contact me and send an email offering a free meal , neither of these things happened. We will never go back , or recommend this to anybody who wanted to be treated the way that we were.

Visited while on a short break, wish I was closer. If I did live close enough to come more often I wouldn't tell a soul. Too good to share.

First and last time here, was very hungry so ate it as i will eat anything ONCE! had chicken live parfait and chicken supreme sunday lunch. Chicken liver parfait tasted like it had no liver in and was watery worst I have ever tasted, wife couldnt eat hers as it was so bad. Chicken supreme sunday lunch again awful massive roast potatoes under done and trying to be posh but being nowhere near, chicken supreme looked like it had the breast part removed!. Wifes Pork Belly lunch was pure fat and looked rank again she couldnt finish it. The wine was also dreadful the malbec i had tasted awful. Didnt complain as couldnt be bothered, booked based on reviews as our usual mermaid in mumbles was fully booked for sunday lunch, their dinner is far cheaper and far better quality. We will never visit this place again. When we phoned we were put on hold while they checked availability of tables when we got there the place was empty! Awful food and terrible atmosphere one of the worst meals i have had ever!!!

Just had lunch here...seafood chowder followed by sirloin steak was amazing. Great value on the lunchtime special menu. Sam and the team were friendly and helpful as always

Can't fault this place . I am not usually one for fancy fussy food, but Looking beyond the skill and presentation which was exquisite, the taste actually exceeded the expectation brought on by the visual impression. I left feeling completely satisfied by the wonderful tastes, and only wished that I was not so full sobthat I could have more. Top ketch for its price bracket.

Visited The River House in December. We were a party of eight. The food and the service was excellent! Water on the table, which was laid beautiful for Christmas. The food arrived nice and hot and all dishes were amazing, no complaints from any of us. The service was also amazing, the staff dine an excellent job. We would definitely return. Thank you .

Not that impressed with seafood linguine. It would help if it was linguine and flavours weren't all packed in like a pre-prepared meal. Maybe other dishes are better.

Wonderful Xmas Dinner menu. Beef was the best I had for some time from local butcher. 20 of us all enjoyed.

Got seated 25 minutes late and served 3 course meal with 1 hour then told they needed table so had 15 minutes left. Even though they came back 3 times to remind us not once did they bring us the bill!? Soon got the bill for us as we got up and started to walk out!

The River House is located in a really nice area right next to the river, where they seem to be doing some nice development work to make the area more appealing to visit as it is abit outside the main part of the city. There are plenty of places to park, but if it's a busy day or something is on in town, it may be difficult to park. Staff were lovely and professional, checking up on us frequently throughout the meal while also having good knowledge of ingredients that you were being served as part of the meal. Overall food was really nice. The highlight of my meal were the Mussels, which may just be the best Mussels I have had in a long time. They did not skimp on the portion size even for a starter, and they may have been the biggest Mussels I have ever had! Sadly, the Belly Pork put a downer on the meal for me with its rubbery texture and laxi of Veg with old rinkled Roasties. The Belly Pork should be crispy and believe it was sat around a while before being served. The Chocolate Fondant was really tasty with a lovely gooey centre, but I do wish it was a little bigger as I could have had two of them. I would visit again, but I'd probably try something for Sunday Lunch unless they can perfect the Belly Pork.

Pathetic portions at an exorbitant price. Hardly any veg. Half a carrot, small head of broccoli and a little cabbage. No potatoes at all for a Christmas meal. Food while good did not warrant the price for such a tiny portion. When asked for more veg the picture shows what we got when asking for additional veg for table of 9 (in the interest of fairness the picture is missing the one single potatoe that one of us ate)

Went for a family birthday lunch. Greeted and seated quickly. Friendly, helpful staff. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Also plenty of space between tables so you're not too close to other diners.

Not my kind of place. The food was okay but nothing special {I cook a better steak at home in all honesty) and the atmosphere was non existent due to the sheer amount of noise. It was a Friday night which may be a reason. The staff were brilliant but it's not somewhere I would choose to go again. There was nothing essentially wrong. Please keep in mind this is my review from my point of view, and you the reader of this review may well have a different opinion! We are not all the same 🙂
