White Hart Pub in Rochford

Came again with friends for an early dinner after our last one here. Went straight to our table as pub was busy. Seated and greeted by server Lauren and shown the specials. We chose off the main menu with my wife, mate and I having the Sea Bass with Samphire. Excellent. My mates wife had the large Barnsley chops. For dessert I had the Rhubarb crumble remembering the Rhubarb in my garden getting very large. The others had sticky toffee pudding and a roulade. We enjoyed beer and wine during the meal and coffee followed. Great food and service.

A lovely welcoming atmosphere, a beautiful old building set at the heart of the village green in Hockley. We have been visiting this pub for over 50 years, first as a Friday night get together with friends and colleagues after a working week and latterly for Friday lunch as a retired couple, sometimes with friends. Thus really is a genuine local with a warm welcome. The menu is traditional pub fayre with specials on offer and roasts on Sundays. The food is delicious and well cooked. There are some veggie choices and the halloumi burger is filling and delicious. The sausages taste like real butcher’s sausages and everything we’ve tried has not disappointed. Prices are very reasonable and there’s a good selection of beers and wines. We will keep on visiting our favourite local.

I hired the function room for a surprise party for my partners birthday, Jordan and his team really couldn’t do enough to make it a nice evening, the buffet was amazing , tasty, varied and presented beautifully ,for a party of up to 30 it was just right… thank you so much

After some recent visits with friends for drinks and crisps. We decided to have a meal here. We booked for an early meal and had a drink in the bar before moving to the restaurant. Great menu including a specials board. My wife, mate and myself went for the Lambs liver. Very tasty meal. My mates wife had fish and chips. The apricot crumble was delicious and will make at home. Also a very nice bottle of Merlot. Good service and food. An enjoyable evening.

We hired the function room at The White Heart for a family get together for my husband's 50th birthday. The younger children loved playing in the garden and we connected our playstation to the big TV in the function room, which kept the big kids happy. Jordan and the team were brilliant (as always) and couldn't do enough to help. Service was great and the buffet was delicious and really reasonably priced. There was so much that we took the leftovers home for lunch the next day. The Bailey's cheesecake gets a special mention (ordered in addition to the buffet) as it's my favourite!

Was here recently for a wake after a funeral. The service was excellent as was the food. There was more than enough for everyone Jordan could not have done enough to make sure everyone was ok and that everything was good Would highly recommend

Great local pub staff are all friendly and welcoming. Jorden is very accommodating when the restaurant is busy to get us a table. Best pub in hockley for food and drinks.

Thank you to Jordan and his team for looking after us. We went here for Sunday lunch before setting off on our holiday. We pre ordered our food, which worked really well for us. The pub has a warm friendly feel to it, very much created by Jordan and his team. We will be back soon, looking forward to the summer and nights in the beer garden x

Couldn’t cut the smothered chicken. Chicken could not be cut through dry and tough. Would suggest a rethink

I visited the White Hart this evening for a meal with my grandparents and we had such a lovely time! The way the staff take care of my grandparents is amazing, especially Jordan who comes over and sits with them for a moment. The food was amazing we all opted for the steak and it was all cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive and kept us smiling and the food was incredible!

Visited on the weekend as live locally but unfortunately lacks atmosphere now. The place is looking tired and the drinks are very overpriced. Would be better with a local chain than here.

Although we live locally this was the first time we had visited for a meal. The food was very good and the service attentive and helpful. I enjoyed my main of liver and bacon with mash, and the portions were perhaps over-generous. My wife had scampi and chips, also rather substantial. The starters were very good also. We will be going again.

A long time since my last visit, little has changed. At the time of our visit there were just a few locals in. The menu had the usual Pub Classics and sandwiches. Our choices of Scampi (a generous portion), and Ham, Egg, (ham off the bone), both served with a generous portion of chips all freshly cooked. The bar offered a range of lagers and a small selection of ales, Doom Bar and Speckled Hen. Other ales available from time to time.

Given the recent move into a second lock down we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway. One that hopefully would closely mirror a meal if were were able to go to a restaurant/fine pub to eat. I can honestly say that the food we ordered was fabulous. We ordered both types of meat pies (with veg, chips or mash & gravy) , the Lasagne with salad and chips plus the desserts. Service was speedy, safe and friendly. The food was very well packed, still pipping hot by the time I got home and was to the same standard as if we had ate in at the White hart. Brilliant! Fed up with lockdown? Then go order a meal from this place - you won't be disappointed. Plus hopefully, we can keep them in business during these dreadful & most difficult times.

Amazing food, lovely staff and a very cozy atmosphere. Lamb shank and cottage pie were great and a fantastic selection of drinks.

Close your eyes and imagine a bright warm sunny summers day. Now picture a old English pub with low ceilings, exposed beams and white washed walls. Friendly staff and quietly spoken locals at the bar. The food was deliciously simple fare, roast dinners and freshly made crunchy chicken pieces for the kids. All fairly priced, with clean facilities and an ample beer garden. What more could you be asking for?

We had our sons first holy communion after party here. The staff are very friendly and also very helpful and professional, and also the food was excellent quality and very good value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend the white hart for a function it’s a great place.

The staff were very very helpful and friendly,but the toilets are still being refurbished . Food was very nice pies were good and hearty. Ham in the ham egg and chips was very substantial. Deserts look fab.One area that received mixed reviews from our table, were the chips. Big fat door stop chips not to everyone’s taste. Chocolate brownie especially was good.

Was really surprised when we went there , never intended to eat but after seeing some food brought out we decided to , they did not disappoint the food was great and great value for money

Eaten here twice in the last month and both visits have been good!!We had lasagna for lunch, which was the hugest portion I've ever seen and served with chips and salad. Lovely and you could tell it was homemade Today we had Sunday Roast, again ample portions with all the trimmings. (Sundays are busy so booking is recommended)All staff were friendly throughout.Definitely a 'locals' pub but nice all the same.

Enjoyed a very traditional Sunday lunch in this very traditional English pub. Homestyle food well cooked and served. Great selection of veg served separately including my favourite fresh runner beans. Good range of beers and ciders including guest offerings. Decent size car park. May try the Cobra and curry night one Thursday. Sounds good value.

Un buen asado. No superficial o probado casero y recalentado. Las patatas eran un poco duras, pero en general me gustaría volver. El servicio era bueno, buen postre. Sólo una pequeña zona para comer, pero un montón de espacio en la parte de atrás del jardín, así que volveré en un día agradable para el almuerzo.Mucho espacio de aparcamiento.

Went for a birthday lunch. Great selection of sandwiches. The chips are amazing!!! Food came out quite quickly.

Hadn't been to this pub for many years as had moved away but was visit my parents and it's the closest pub, really surprised it's now lovely inside, friendly helpful staff, good selection of beer which kept my dad happy, not a large menu, but freshly cooked and large portions, there is a restaurant part if you wish to be away from the bar. I wish it was on my doorstep would go more often.

We ordered our drink which was cold a just right. The my wife ordered Sea bass and I ordered Rib Eye steak. Both wee excellent, cooked as we like then er had chocolate brownie and bread an butter pudding also very enjoyable followed by nice coffee. Excellent in all .

Had lunch here with my parents on Thursday and would definately come back again. Attentive service by two members of staff, the food was well-cooked and we received a good portion of both dishes - scampi, chips and peas and ham, eggs and chips. A good selection of hot and cold options on the menu made for an enjoyable visit and will return soon to sample something else.

Good value menu limited choice but enough to meet everyone's wishes. Simple tasty food with theme nights. Curry night really good. Friendly typical old style pub with good atmosphere. Perfect for just a drink or eats as well.

Went to the white hart for a Christmas meal with friends. Go fairly regularly for a drink but never eaten food before. Three course Christmas dinner was very nice throughly enjoyed my seafood linguine. Will defiantly eat there again.

Four of us go to this pub regularly for quiz nights. The staff are very friendly and in the summer the garden is delightful.

We have been here a few times for a few drinks on a Saturday night. The pub is friendly and the staff are polite and knowledgeable about the beers they have on offer. There's a good selection to, Crouch Vale Brewery beer was served, which makes a nice change to your bog standard beers.

Limited menu but enough choice for four of us to choose from. All of our meals were excellent, the only downside for me was the desserts (or lack of choice) having an intolerance for gluten i was only offered ice cream. Surely a dish could be added that was gluten free.

Lovely old fashioned pub with a large garden for the summer. Very friendly place. Only eaten here once.. Large potions. Very tasty and hot.. However, they did tend to smother the starters and mains in a creamy sauce which spoiled our dinners. We didn't complain though, as it was hot and we was starving Would give them a go another time. Maybe just a one off..

Have lived in Hockley since 1990 and never eaten at this pub until recently. I've missed so much. Lovely atmosphere, welcoming staff and wonderful food, what more could you ask for

A nice pub with a restaurant to the side of the main bar. Good atmosphere, good food and drink. The service is quick and the staff friendly. Have eaten here before when visiting relatives and will eat here again.

Ordered garlic bread with cheese to start. Four good size pieces with plenty of cheese...... Scrummy. Smothered chicken main course with fat chips for main and stocky toffee pudding with custard and a dollop of ice cream for desert...... Heaven! I used to drink here many moons ago and have returned to visit relatives who live close by. I will be more than happy to have a return visit and look forward to trying something else on the menu.

I had not been to the White Hart for decades, so the decision was made to have a boys lunch there. The pub is the same outside, but the inside has been opened up into a single large bar. They offer a typical pub menu at very reasonable prices. We each chose a different meal and with the possible exception of the smoked salmon dish, all were generous. There is a good range of ales and lagers available. It is on the list for a return visit in due course.

Have only eaten here at lunchtimes but have never been disappointed. The menu has a good choice of light lunch meals(sandwiches ,salads and jacket potatoes) as well as main meals (pies, fish chicken etc). Portions are of a good size and well presented and food appears home cooked and very fresh. Each time I have eaten here, I have really enjoyed my meal. Surroundings are a little dated but the food is very good.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime with family for lunch. We found the staff very helpful and friendly and the food good. We also noted how spotlessly clean everything was and had some very attractive outside seating areas. We did feel that the pub could do with some refurbishment inside .

We were in a party of 18 who ate dinner here on the 20th December, and we had a fantastic time. We had the function room which was a bonus due to the size of the group, but we would have been equally happy in the main building. The pub itself is beautiful and has tons of character. The function room was comfortable and just across the courtyard from the main building.

Went for a date, got drinks, played pool and had a great time. Nice social pub with young locals ;) Great place to sit outside with a drink in the summer.

Went here today for a sunny Sunday lunchtime bite to eat and my fiancé and I were very pleased. Beautiful gardens, great friendly service, ample parking and good food. Prices were on par with a traditional village pub though I did think they could have squeezed 4 fish fingers in the fish finger sandwich as opposed to 3.

Dined here at lunchtime. It was quite busy for midweek and the food took a while to arrive. The meal was very nice, hot and tasty. I have eaten Sunday lunch here, roast lamb which was excelent, piping hot and a good selection of veg. I would recommend this pub.

Went to the White Hart Pub for the first time. Nice friendly pub, staff were happy and greeted you with a smile. Good varied menu and prices weren't bad. Food was tasty. Currently it is being redecorated, not that it looked like it is needed. Will be going back again.

My husband and I have eaten on several occasions at the White Hart and have not been disappointed. From Sunday Lunch to a Saturday Night and even Valentines Night.

We had lunch at The White Hart on 26 October following a recommendation, as we are vegetarian. We ordered the vegetarian lasagne and I must say, it was the best I've had! The service was very pleasant. Starter: garlic mushrooms was lovely. Main: veggie lasagne with salad and chips was delicious and generous portion. Dessert; lemon tart with ice cream was lovely!

Been using the White Hart as a pub for 25 years but had never eaten in the new restaurant until the other week. We had a very good meal and wish we had discovered it much earlier.

After a great meal on Burns Night we thought we would return for the Valentines meal, we were not disappointed! There was a good selection on the menu and the crab tart, sea bass and chocolate dipped strawberries that I chose made a superb meal.

It was a typical cold February day and my partner and I were off work so decided to have a lite lunch somewhere nearby and after various suggestions we came up with the White Heart Pub. Now its a few years since I have been here so we checked out some of the reviews on trip advisor and as they looked promising and as it was within easy walking distance we decided on a visit.

Stopped here by chance for a Saturday lunch, very pretty garden to relax in, good fast service, very large portions at a very reasonable price, inside of pub is a bit dull, especially the restaurant part. Good size car park, would happily return

I've eaten at my local pub, The White Hart, several times now. Everything from the Curry and a Cobra night to a Sunday roast and the standard of food and service has always been very good.

Have eaten at the White Hart on two occasions & have been pleasantly surprised. Food is really nice, big portions & a wide choice. Nice atmosphere & also a good place to go for a drink. Friendly bar staff.
