White Hart Hotel Restaurant in Teignbridge

We had a late Sunday lunch at the White Hart and everything was superb. We came right at the end of the lunch window so I was expecting a bit of less attention/end of service fatigue but Nell and Tom were so friendly and efficient. We didn't at all feel rushed or ignored; perfect service. The food was also amazing, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely pub, we’ve been a couple of times now and we really enjoy it. Beautiful place, great fish and chips and nice beer.

Absolutely fantastic! Really neat traditional pub with circle bar. Good amount of table and chairs inside and out with amazing river views. Food is outstanding. Ordered the sausages and blue cheese croquettes - enjoyed every mouth full. Popular spot so safer to book

Unfortunately food was average, however the service was great. They welcome you and make sure you are happy but I wouldn’t go back due to the fact that the food was not as expected. The menu on the website is not updated so price was misleading as well.

Good food value for money and nice ambience

Stuart couldn't have been more helpful with booking a big table/3(!) for birthday drinks at The White Hart. It was brilliant to find a pub that was so flexible and accommodating with a large booking, especially near Christmas! I had to pay a deposit (which was swiftly returned), but there was no need to book an entire room out, or pay ahead for 'xmas canapés', or expectation that everyone would order food (which seemed to be the case for other local pubs!). The pub even provided crackers for us, which was a lovely extra! Perfect place for relaxed birthday drinks, would definitely consider to book again in the future!

We went for Christmas day lunch and had a wonderful time with excellent service and exceptional food and wine. Very atmospheric sitting by a lovely open fire. Nothing was too much trouble for tge staff and we left very satisfied

We were there on a midweek afternoon, but there were still smatterings of people about enjoying their meal (which I must admit looked pretty impressive). The ground floor is all pub - but classy. An island bar commands the room and the staff were excellent all afternoon: cheerful, helpful and provided a few laughs as well. There was an upstairs area as well with it's own bar for functions or a more private occasion if you wish. Both floors have narrow balconies and these must be wonderful on a nice summer's day. There is an outside area on the same level as the ground floor with some tables undercover, but with a total unrestricted view of the river and, of course, Barnes Bridge. And then if there's still too many people, that are picnic type tables right on the river's bank. Enjoy it, it is truly a lovely place to spend an afternoon. My friend was complimentary of the Young's on tap and the Guinness was excellent.

Arrived with grandchildren. We all chose from the menu. The food took a while to come. It was average, expected better for the price. Not very child friendly as when my granddaughter spoke to the waitress she just smiled and walked away. Im glad we were staying at a nearby hotel and not here as the ladies toilets were upstairs and ladies from the bar and restaurant needed to walk right past the letting rooms

Fantastic cosy pub by the river bank in beautiful Barnes. Lots of comfy seating and good lighting. The Guinness was excellent. Bar staff were very friendly. A new bartender had just started and while I forgot to catch his name he was very welcoming and I wish him all the best in his new role. It was dark when we arrived so I can only imagine how much better it is again in daylight looking out onto the waterway. All of this rendered a positive first date experience. Thank you!

Great place for a lunch for seven friends to catch up. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious food. Fish and chip were yummy!

We had such a great evening here for our work Christmas party. The venue was very festive, the three course Christmas meal was delicious and the service was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Just returned from having a wonderful roast chicken meal at the White Hart. Careful attention was paid to my gluten and dairy free needs. Special mention must go to Flossie and Ashley who were both friendly and efficient.

Please can you pass on our thanks to all your staff for another wonderful stay - this is our fourth stay at The White Hart and indeed the very best; fantastic service from every member of staff during a very busy time, especially from Liv and Julie and nice to see a hands on manager in charge!  Delicious food on both nights and brilliant breakfasts too and we highly recommend the afternoon tea, fantastic value for money. The improvements that the new owners have made to The White Hart into another league and we very much look forward to our next visit, number 5!!!

What makes this place is the staff. Callum in the bar, our waitress (sadly don't know her name), reception staff and breakfast staff, could not do enough for us. Take into account there was 18 of us for a family 50th, and that it made it more amazing. We ate, we drank, we all stayed in the hotel and a good time was had by all. Totally recommend the place.

There was a blip with our service due to a wake taking place with a lot of people needing to be served. This was addressed by our charming server who dealt with our issue efficiently and generously, making us feel valued.

We had a great evening here with delicious food. Excellent service and food. Be back soon.

Stayed overnight to attend a Murder Mystery evening. The room we stayed in was lovely with beautiful views, excellent facilities and a very large and comfortable bed. The staff were very helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. We all dressed for dinner and the Candlelight Murder Mystery Company began. What a lovely evening, the cast were excellent, very funny at the right times and very professional. Food was great, atmosphere was perfect. Will definitely go to another of these events. Loved the whole experience.

The White Hart and it's excellent team hosted a birthday Sunday lunch - and they did a fantastic job in the pre-event co-ordination and on the day were totally brilliant. The room looked fabulous, with great attention to detail and did everything to make sure it all went well - the front of house team looking after us were absolutely brilliant - Didier and Akshatha everyone said how great you were - and I would like to thank you too for the excellent service and perfect hosting throughout. Thanks also to the behind the scenes kitchen team, who did a great job on such a busy day. Great job team White Hart.... thank you!

Great pub in a beautiful spot on the river. Sunday roasts and puddings were spot on, and very kind, helpful and attentive staff (despite our wild children) made it even better.

Overall a lovely Sunday roast. Would say portions are slightly on the smaller side. I would say for ladies portion size fine, but for men, you may be left hungry with the roast. Was survived quickly and food came out quickly. Served by Andreja. £20-25 a roast £7 a pint £8 mulled wine Presume in the summer with the doors open it would be lovely as on the thames. Toilets need updating, smell of damp. Dog friendly.

Had an excellent cheeseboard (amazing truffle honey) and got to sit by a roaring fire for additional warmth on a cold day.

Went for the Sunday roast. Yorkshire pudding and potatoes weren't crispy, and the vegetable portion was tiny but the beef was incredible, hence the 4 star rating.

We were concerned to learn that this pub with accommodation had closed but delighted it has reopened. Our third one night stay for B and B as we dine in the evening at the nearby Italian restaurant, Berto's. The White Hart offers exceptional Sunday/ mid week value and our premier room #3 is spacious, clean and comfortable. Decent loo roll! It's the little things that count. On the other hand, the en suite door sticks. Has housekeeping informed management? Lighting is low and difficult to read by and curiously there is only one bedside lamp. Maybe somebody nicked the other one. Then again there is a wonderful public lounge with very comfortable sofas and chairs. A cosy log fire. A counter divides the lounge from the popular public bar. This is a very pleasant pub with accommodation and a perfect base for exploring the glorious Devon countryside and delightful town of Moretonhampstead. Breakfast is very good offering the usual stuff and perfectly cooked eggs. Once again as with the loo rolls, decent paper napkins. We shall return for our next visit to Berto's, the wonderful little Italian which, dear reader, is also a BYO. Doggy friendly, as is the White Hart. Everyone is happy. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Overpriced for the quality of food. £22 for a sub-par roast is steep without an additional course thrown in. Service was a bit lack luster, and they didn’t have record of our booking. Decent pub though with nice outdoor area for peaceful riverside views.

Really lovely pub and nice atmosphere however we booked last Sunday at 4pm for a roast and when we got there they had run out of everything! I completely appreciate they were busy however 4pm is not late for a roast and we had booked!!

A lovely evening at the White Hart! Passed by and decided to go in as it seemed like a nice buzz and was served by the very lovely Soli behind the bar. He also convinced us to try the food, which was excellent, particularly the burger! Wouldn't have considered dinner here otherwise.

From the moment we walked into this quintessential English pub, we knew we were in for a treat. Speaking of Mushu, the staff went above and beyond to make sure he felt just as welcomed as we did. Andrea, our incredible waitress, immediately greeted us with a smile and asked if we'd like a bowl of water for Mushu. She even brought him a few dog treats to keep him entertained while we enjoyed our meal. It’s rare to find a place that treats your four-legged companion with the same level of care and attention, and we were so grateful for that extra touch. Now, the food. Oh, the food! We ordered the steak, and it arrived cooked to perfection – juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Paired with a couple of perfectly poured pints of ale, it was a match made in pub heaven. The richness of the steak was complemented by the smoothness of the beer, making each bite and sip more enjoyable than the last. And then, the dessert. The brown with caramel ice cream was a revelation. Warm, comforting, and decadently sweet, it was the kind of dessert that makes you want to savor every spoonful and never let it end. Charming pub on the bank of the Thames. Great service behind the bar from Will. A couple of pints and some delicious soup were a perfect accompaniment to watching the rowers go by on the river.

How unfortunate that such a local and full of character pub serves disappointing food. Sunday roast was possibly one of the worst ones we have had, tasteless and portion are mean for the price. At 1pm they were already sold out of vegetarian roast and desserts. Huge shame that food was poor as staff on the floor are attentive and friendly. Also would be a good idea to invest into a pleasant baby change area.

Never been to the pub before so I thought I'd try it out. First impressions were amazing. Hugo made me feel really welcome and I'd be happy to return again.

Nipped here for a casual mid week dinner and had an amazing evening. Special mention to Flossie our server who, after I said I was ceoliac, sat at our table and went through the menu with me, and even rang the kitchen to check on some items. Eating out is hard as a ceoliac so massive thanks for going the extra mile for me! Also props to the White Hart for having a gluten free pale ale (DEYA Magazine Cover) on draft, and not the usual bottled GF Peroni!

Came for a friend’s birthday party and was surprised by this hidden gem in Barnes! The food was delicious and the bar service from Hugo and Will was worthy of a second visit in the near future.

Lovely experience! Came in for lunch today and was served by Nell, no complaints at all. Food, service and overall vibes were amazing, Nell was super attentive and had a great smile all the time ! Will definitely be returning

What a wonderful pub! We had our wedding reception here one year ago and came back today for a roast, and the food and service was perfect! Huge shoutout to Tom who couldn’t have done more to look after us today, such a credit to the team. We’ll certainly be back.

A big thank you to Didier, Stuart, Andreja, Indi and the rest of the team at the White Hart. We hired the first floor for a 50-person event and they were a big part of helping to make the evening a success! They created the perfect area for the evening - where we could have a sit down meal and then space to stand and dance after. The evening ran very smoothly thanks to their organisation and this allowed us to have a great atmosphere to enjoy the event. Thank you for your hard work!

We booked a few tables for an engagement celebration and it was the perfect night! It was easy to book and the staff were so friendly throughout the night checking in to make sure everything was going well. The food was brilliant and everyone had a great night!

When we are here booking a table at 6.30pm the bar staff/server we spoke to wasn't all that friendly and our server eventually turned up to take out order. The food was good except for items on the sweet menu not available and not being informed. When I went to pay the bill had a discretionary service charged auto added which I asked to be removed. This seemed to cause a melt down and left me thinking I won't go back. Curt staff and lack of attention and they expect me to pay service charge?

Had a fantastic experience at The White Hart! The view of the Thames was beautiful, and the service from Indi was exceptional—she was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I was thrilled to find a vegan option on the menu—the mushroom ragu was absolutely delicious! It’s rare to find pubs with such great vegan choices, and this one was spot on. I’d love to see even more vegan options in the future—this place does it so well! Highly recommend!

We went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection and a good selection of veggies. Service was really good too. Bottle of Malbec hit the spot and was perfect for the beef. Heartily recommended.

We had lovely river view across the Thames at the White and fantastic service, especially from the charming Sean who could not have been more accommodating! My fish and chips were good although I could probably have done without the curry sauce! Will definitely return!

I’m in two minds about giving a review on this place. On the one hand this place was incredible and deserves the praise. On the other hand I really don’t want to give the secret of this place away and making it too popular. I had a day off work and decided to go visit a pub along the Thames that we hadn’t been to before. Purely through random chance we selected The White Hart near Barnes Bridge and managed to select the diamond in doing so! > The view of the river is hard to beat anywhere on in London. > the staff (Didiev and Andreja) were very friendly, knowledgeable and professional in their service. > The drinks range was surprisingly deep with lots to choose from including some excellent choices in champagne. > And the food was some of the best I’ve had in a long while. I’d even go as far to say that the fish of the day (fresh sea trout) was the best fish I’ve had in the UK. Only about 20 minutes from Waterloo station and more than worth the trip. Five stars all round.

We went to this hotel for a Sunday lunch with friends yesterday. Having been recently refurbished, the interior decor is very sumptuous and inviting. The Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. Beautifully cooked meats and veggie selection. At £15.00 this is one of the best value roasts we have had. The service was friendly, quick and very polite. Definitely worth a visit if you love a Sunday roast 😊.

Food was delicious and exactly what the doctor ordered. I was looked after by Louise, and safe to say best customer service I have experienced in a long time. Highly recommend the food and if you’re looked after by Louise you will not be disappointed.
