Lovely pub, friendly staff, had a lovely time chilling out by myself with a cold pint while waiting for the other half to finish his training course. Felt very welcome, would definitely come back again, with friends next time!

This place is really good I love it

Lovely high street bar in a quiet area. Great service, cracking beer, lots of comfortable seating, music and great prices. Big recommendation.

Awesome pub, Harrison was so attentive, he was always around without being annoying, atmosphere was superb without loud music etc.

My band Probable Cause UK played here on Sat 4th Nov 202.. The place was rammed, great atmosphere, the crowd are willing to get involved. The staff were super friendly and really helpful in getting us set up. A really great night out. I can't wait to play here again in 2024

I was not allowed in for no reason by the security I asked him what time do you close and he said “now”, while there were other people were entering the pub. I understand it was 1:25 AM but why were other people being allowed in and not me? Security stopped me and said “Where do you think you’re going?” While other people were allowed inside. I suspect the reason was not the time. I was just there for a good time, that is all. He also pointed at Redz bar down the street saying, “go there”. This happened at 18/Dec/2022 at 1:25 AM. You can ask who was on security at that time on the front door.

Definately do not reccomend. Staff that I encountered were rude and couldn't accept when they had made an error. I made a reservation to watch the football which was accepted and I travelled in for but when I arrived I was told I just have to find anywhere to sit, which I couldn't as it was packed hence why I booked. I reiterated that I made a reservation only to be told that their colleague shouldn't have accepted the reservation and that even though I had reserved a table it doesn't mean I get a table...literally makes no sense. I wasthen etold I don't get a table because I booked the same day. Surely you don't accept the reservation then? Even worse as the manager was unprofessional by deciding to back their colleague's baseless arguement rather than be do what a manager does and listens to the situation and tries to be unbiased. Rather than accept their error they tried to blame anything else possible. Embarrassing behaviour

They have live music most weekends, it can get very lively.

They say never return to the scene of the crime but I did. My first return to the White Hart since 1957 and boy, has it changed! There has to be progress and maybe Marlowes needed a full makeover but I would have thought that the town fathers would have insisted on keeping some of the old Town character. Modernised beyond recognition with a very limited, youth orientated range of drinks although with a bright, friendly barmaid, the White Hart is no more. Sad. I won't be back.

Had been to The Marchmont Arms for lunch which was overpriced and average with no atmosphere. Came here for a drink after and it was lovely, nice atmosphere, comfy sofas and great for a catch up with my mate

Just had a fantastic night in this little gem. Good quality drinks and fast and positive service. The rear garden is huge and has recently had an upgrade (looks fantastic) and I always feel comfortable here. Live music is back on and the band was awesome. Great atmosphere and a safe and happy place to be x

Very quiet pub and great table service

Post covid has made pubs very clean, calm and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed walking in no prior booking and getting a lovely table to the side that was spacious and quiet so we could play some of our board games, we opted for Pandemic due to the irony :) they were out of J2O and overcharged on a soft drink but the servings of spirits was very generous and we were left in peace to play multiple games. If only Covid was as easily beaten / cured!

This pub is found in the lovely old town of Hemel Hempstead. Has a great selection of alcohol and soft drinks. Has live music (bands/DJ) every weekend and this is when it gets busy after 10ish . Has a little dance floor too if you fancy a dance, drink and singalong:) Would definitely recommend!

A nice pub in Hemel old town. Had live music both nights when I was there, which wasn't bad and although the pub was busy the bar staff coped well and I never had to wait for a beer. It was a late night on Saturday, so good place to end the evening.

Other than Wetherspoons the only pub in Hemel town centre that has anybody in it.

Popped in last week.with a friend. Sat in garden at rear. Not really busy as going through a refurbishment at present. I will keep popping in and updating the thread.

Popped in whilst on a pub crawl from train station to top off oldtown. This place is currently going through a refurbishment. Had a Guinness and sat in garden at the rear, potentially a good sun trap in the summer. Didn't eat and saw no menus. Overall not bad and gleaned some local knowledge from young lady behind the bar.

It's okay, and fine for what it is... A busy, late night, party pub. Not what I'm after but everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves

The best place to go out in Hemel really. Either live bands or a DJ on the weekends. I think it's meanf to be over 21s but varies on door staff. Not too expensive either! Usually quite busy good atmosphere.

Ok for a few drinks but not the best 2 bars so easy to get a drink but second bar closes before the end of the night

The worst customer service ever!!! Got to love making a complaint about a rude staff member only to be basically told you’re a liar. Being accused of threatening to “smash someone’s face in” funny how the barmaid I made the complaint about is the one who made the ridiculous claim. Which was just one of many ridiculous lies she told about the situation. Yvonne the manager basically spoke to me about my complaint just to be rude to me. All she did was contradict herself and try to make out her staff member was in the right.

Good pub, young guests and live music

At three o'clock in the afternoon there was shouting and swearing at the bar. This pub has really gone downhill. It used to be the classiest in the old High Street. Now it's gone the way of the rest of Hemel Hempstead

I'm sorry to say this place hasn't seemed to change very much in the last 20 years or so it has a very run down look about it it's much better suited in a Council estate rather than this lovely old High Street

Good place for seeing live bands

OK, the music is just above the noise level, it's not a disco loud enough as in your bundled house, not myes where it can be ground shaking...

The bar staff were really nice and accommodating to a large group (12 people) the service was swift and friendly would most certainly come again!

Probably the best looking and friendliest bar staff in Hemel, great entertainment on a weekend but the most rude bouncers ever, I've spend over £1000 here this year alone and was treated like dirt last night 23/04/16. Was told if I leave I won't be let back in even though people were coming in from the pub across the road. I'll be speaking to the landlord when I see him next. Other than that a good place to go especially in the summer months.

If you like to listen to local bands then Saturday nights won't disappoint you, this past Saturday was great, can get a bit packed but if you don't mind that then it's a good night out. Quite nice during the week too, very relaxing environment.

Had a few drinks here on the weekend, before going to the local Greek restaurant. clean and tidy place, friendly bar staff. was not too busy which was good...but it was 5.30ish... will visit again.

I recently moved to Hemel Hempstead and was sad as I used to live in Nottingham and it was great and there was a place where you could buy fish and cook them straight out of the sea. I missed that place. My first memories of moving to Hemel was a roundabout. I spent 20 minutes on that roundabout trying to come off but kept going around different roundabouts and I ended up at a spooky place the locals called 'the old town' I ended up in the White hart and it was great and the beer was great and the food was great and I have never felt so happy and we all laughed and sang songs to each other and we drank mead and I left happy. Highly recommended.

Though still serving food, The White Hart has reverted to being a pub. The food is therefore standard pub fare.
