Great staff all very helpful good food and nothing too much. Definitely recommend great for walking cycling and chilling.

We used the Greyhound Inn for a base while walking the local area. The pub was warm and comforting, with very friendly and attentive staff. The room was really comfy and clean, with tea and coffee making facilities, wifi etc. Dinner and breakfast were both really good, Super tasty!

Great friendly pub. Relaxed atmosphere but extremely efficient. All staff charming. Food is wonderful. Very busy but staff coped admirable and with a huge smile.

Not much filling in the Tuna Sandwich, which was a huge surprise. 90% bread so quite disappointing. Was asked to vacate table after just over an hour which was also disappointing given the slow service. Slow service expected on a Sunday however they need to review table times as first time I’ve ever been asked to vacate & sort of dampened the occasion. Generally a good pub tho, would just avoid on a Sunday again.

Mediocre food at best and expensive. Two lime and lemonades, pint of beer and lime cordial and four main courses cost £87. One meal of chick peas and pork was dry, no sauce or vegetables and unappetising.

Had lunch and evening meals here when staying here. Both meals were good value and very tasty. Only downside was breakfast when gluten free toast was ordered and it came out or the same toast rack as normal toast ( big cross contamination issue here ) Our room was ok but the floor sloped quite a lot so when in bed your head was lower than your feet this resulted in not a very good nights sleep. Maybe put some blocks or similar under the pillow end to level the bed. Overall a nice stay.

My beef roast was very tasty but I admit to being disappointed with the roast potatoes. The staff were charming and helpful. Very attentive.

Ordered 4 diet cokes and didn’t ask size just bought over pints ( most expensive option) sandwich was mediocre with about 6 Doritos no salad. Not sure I would go back ! Should have probably just said cokes wrong size but once poured and put on table find it embarrassing to complain! Would prefer to be asked which size! Aggressive marketing . Yet sandwich was small and bread not that fresh.

Mid week pub lunch before hiking - very nice setting, quaint village, clean and comfortable, menu has wide and interesting choices and somewhat similar but also different from other pub lunches. My son loved the sea bass, chicken beef kebab excellent, my steak and ale pie slightly salty but delicious. For some reason, waited for maybe 45 mins for food to come out, not sure why. Overall would go back.

The food was very nice but found it to be a bit expensive for what you got , very limited for vegetarians, the staff were very nice, wouldn’t go back due to the price

Unfortunately, I have not had a good experience. I ordered a seafood platter and 1 part missing (mackerel). I didn't even realise until my wife pointed out to me. (Too busy talking away). By this time, I had finished. Told the waitress. They did offer to do the fish on it's own but there's no point when everything is finished. Also no offer of reduced price, and they had the nerve to ask for service charge. I definitely would not recommend this place. The funny thing is, after I told the waitress, they avoided our table like plague.

Lovely spot. Lovely friendly staff and good food but accommodation needs some attention. Had a triple family room, clearly recently been decorated so clean and fresh but appeared unfinished. A double bed but 2 singles squashed almost touching into an alcove, no leg space inbetween. Single mattresses very hard and no lamp for that area. Bathroom tiny and tatty. No mirror other than small one in bathroom and no chairs anyway. Could be much nicer, probably with only 3 beds, maybe that’s the plan and they’d just not finished it. Would probably look for somewhere else if we were to return to the area.

A great find for food and overnight accommodation. Parking is very tight and limited, really due to the restaurant being good. For engineers working away the restaurant can be a little £££ but the quality of the food is excellent. Breakfast was excellent, fresh cooked and plentiful. Well done!

Food was fantastic and great value, plus a great selection of beer and wine. I ordered the £18 set menu which included two Asian-style fusion dishes - the sesame ribs and the fillet strips with chilli were both were delicious. All topped off with an espresso martini in a quiet, picturesque location.

Nice friendly place, in a lovely village setting. Food overall was good, though I had a fillet steak that was tough and not very pleasant, but the steak pie looked very nice and the deserts were good too so a bit of bad luck I guess on my part. Nice outdoor area to eat in the summer and walks to Ivinghoe Beacon nearby.

Such a lovely peaceful space. Admittedly the sun was shining which always helps. That said staff were so personable and efficient which really impacted the enjoyment of our stay. Will definitely come back as the food looked amazing.

We hadn't been to The Greyhound for quite a few years and we're pleased to find how lovely it now is. We arrived early after a long country walk and were warmly welcomed and seated in a lovely, light and airy room. Service was friendly unobtrusive and efficient and all the food that we tried (three different seafood mains and four different desserts was excellent. Wine prices were very reasonable for current times too. The Greyhound is beautifully situated in a picture-perfect Hertfordshire village with some great country walks right from the door (look up the Ashridge Driver's Walk) and we highly recommend it as a place to relax, eat and drink.

Worked here straight from moving over from Australia. Owner denied me time off and fired me when I went to get medical help. Staff treated awfully with no breakfast, one meal a day and no kitchen to use for other meals

Friendly service from a sweet team and cute location in a pretty part of the town. The food was unfortunately very very poor (and not cheap). The sandwich bread was very basic and stale, the chicken was rubbery and similar to what you get from pre-cooked supermarket chicken, overall it was all dry.

Lovely staff and speedy service, nothing to complain about! Only attended for bar drinks and it was a pleasant visit!

Went for a meal here after a nice walk in Ashridge Estate with family - 9 of us and a doggo. The food was delicious - clearly freshly made as they were able to cater for food intolerances, & they had good vegetarian options. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. the service was great and the staff were really friendly. We felt very well looked after. The setting is lovely too.

Food was beautiful. Only drawback was the portion sizes, I would have liked an extra veg with my steak.

We have been here a few times in the past but were very disappointed that the food and experience has gone very downhill since our last visit. The food was lukewarm and felt like it had been warmed up in a microwave. The service was very rushed as if they couldn't wait to get the table back off us as we had barely finished our mains when they brought dessert menus and then the bill arrived as soon as we had eaten our dessert without even asking for it! We used to think this was a good pub for Sunday lunch but wouldn't recommend it now.

Great place to stay for the Ridgeway! Stayed in the cottage so we had lots of room with the dogs! Even had a log burner for the Miniture Schnauzers! Even had a washing machine for dirty kit!! Not far off the Ridgeway and used it as a base to walk from Wendover and then to Ivenhoe Beacon today! Meals were lovely, some vegitarian. Staff were very nice and friendly!

Stopped for lunch from a local walk. Neat large village pub with small bar and lots of tables for dining. We ate in the bar. Three cask ales on offer and the one sampled in good condition. Friendly efficient service. Good menu choice and food tasty. Lacks atmosphere.

Been coming here for over 10 years - mostly for the steak pie. Suddenly, it's gone downhill, sadly - the steak pie was almost devoid of meat - and they were very off-hand, with no apology, when this was queried. So won't be back. Fortunately, though, have found an alternative pub not too far away, which does a FANTASTIC steak pie.

First time here for Sunday lunch and we were very impressed. My wife and I shared a fantastic fried calamari with a sriracha chilli and mayo sauce and we also shared a syrup sponge and custard dessert. In between, I had roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings including cauliflower cheese and home made horseradish. My wife had loin of pork with homemade apple sauce and the trimmings. We washed it down with a pint and a half of superb well kept Badgers bitter and a couple of glasses of a nice merlot. A wonderful meal set us back a very reasonable £77 without tip. Lovely busy pub and very attentive staff. We will return!

Just had five nights at the Greyhound. Excellent experience, good accommodation and superb food. Staff and locals very friendly in a very picturesque village with a comprehensive ly stocked village shop. Would recommend the Greyhound for a comfortable stay.

Spent two nights at The Greyhound whilst visiting family locally. Beautiful pub in a wonderful location. Walks a plenty from the doorstep. Accommodation was spacious, very clean plus nice and warm. Stayed B and B, loads of choice for breakfast involving well cooked local produce. Had lunch one day in the bar and dinner on Saturday night. On both occasions food is outstanding and reasonably priced. All staff, without exception, are welcoming friendly and very good at what they do. Would very much recommend and will definitely return.

I chose the set menu. The starter was four pieces of mid warm duck with some noodles. The whole thing tasted of nothing and wasn’t very nice so I left most of it. I then had haddock and chick pea with a slice of bread. This looked like some left over haddock and some chickpeas has been heated up in a tin of tomatoes and I didn’t like it at all. The wine we had was very nice. The tap water tasted strange. We then had bread and butter pudding which looked as if it had been made from sliced white bread with some sultanas and again it didn’t taste of anything much and was very bland. So overall Aldbury is a lovely village but food at The Greyhound needs to be greatly improved. I think they need to employ a good chef.

What a wonderful Valentines meal tonight. Chinese inspired meal that was amazing and would love to eat again - will recommend to all my friends. The staff were so friendly and chatty too - wonderful evening. Thank you.

The cottage is perfectly situated right in the middle of the idyllic village Aldbury. We were visiting friends nearby and had dinner at The Greyhound Inn…..Tim, Julie and the team were exceptional. Food and drink of excellent standard and value - the Pornstar Martini was as good as any I’ve had in 5 * London hotels!

Just went for lunch....midweek. beautiful village... nice old pub with large bright dining area at the rear. Unusually I think my wife and I were first and second youngest diners that lunchtime ....at 52 and 61.....but food and service all good.

Friendly staff but very poor choice in alcohol free beer means I won’t be returning. I can’t really understand why pubs continue to offer poor alcohol free beer.

My only tip is that the gravy on the roast beef sunday lunch was tasteless and swamped everything, thus spoiling the meal. The potatoes were a bit under cooked. Better gravy in a jug on the side would have made it much better.

Wow!! Not very often can I say all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful but I can here!! We came here for a family birthday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Everyone enjoyed there food great varied menu and all our plates were delicious. But what made it for us was the very friendly happy staff. We will return. 5⭐️

Popped in for a light lunch. The food and service were both excellent. We had the vegetarian sharing platter, followed by Creme brulé both 9f which were was lovely. We will definitely return 8f we're ever back in the area.

I went to the Greyhound for the first time on Boxing day 2023. I have been back on a regular basis since. The staff are extremely friendly especially Jules and Harry. The locals have made me feel very welcome. I left my bank card in the pub last weekend and Jules contacted someone I know within minutes of me leaving the pub. If you are ever in Aldbury I highly recommend the Greyhound. Xx

Extremely disappointed. We were looking forward to our family Christmas dinner and when we received the bill the deposit had not been deducted. When we questioned this we were told by management this had not been received. They were completely unaware that in order to reserve a Christmas booking, a deposit needed to be taken- despite this being confirmed by email already. We ordered 1 medium wine and when we received a large this was brought to the waitress's attention. We were then told to leave it and the bill would be adjusted accordingly to a medium as we had originally asked. Regretfully, the bill was not adjusted. When we let them know, we were challenged rather aggressively by the manager who argued that it was what we had ordered. He then 'stormed off' which left us all shocked as we were only explaining what had happened. We remained agreeable and polite throughout which is why this behaviour was so unacceptable. On top of this, the food was terrible and the experience was upsetting. Highly unrecommended.

A lovely Friday night venue for supper with girl friends. Easy to book a table online. We dined in the conservatory which was very Christmassy. Lovely round table for the 8 of us. There is accommodation here but we did not stay overnight

A great place to eat with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Tim and his team make you feel welcome and nothing is a problem. Allied to this is the great food, you feel like you could sit there all day, which isn't a bad thing with an excellent choice of beers. Can't wait to get back there

Returned to this Inn for an annual get-together with a dozen friends, and had a great experience again. Great and attentive service and wonderful food.

Quality restaurant food. In particular, the steak and ale pie, with a good balance of chips and veg. Some of the other menu items seemed a bit odd and lacked accompanying veg, ie the steak appeared to be just a slab of meat and potato - that maybe ok for masterchef, but for me is only two thirds of a main. Would have been better if the website, like many other restaurants, had professional pictures of all the dishes and sides so you could determine what you would get. The menue text and trying to get the staff to explain the dishes are is hard to deduce what may be served. Otherwise, the staff were really good and a meal out for 6 was excellent. Reasonably busy for a Wednesday, and had just the right atmosphere. They were a bit slow to take payment after we got the bill. Will go again soon.

A cozy rustic dining pub with rooms. A rare find in these rural locations. Locals gathered with their dogs in the bar area to enjoy the log burner, a few ales and a boisterous banter fuelled chat. The dining area was comfortable and quiet in comparison. The menu is geared towards fish dishes and lacked the traditional pub style food but my homemade steak and ale pie was delicious. My stay was short but The Greyhound Inn served me well and delivered everything I needed. Both sides of the bar had a great selection of draft drinks to choose from. I wish there was a pub like this in my village. The breakfast was spot on and set me up for the day. Plenty of fresh thick cut toast and fres coffee. Overall, a 4.5 star rating as my room was above the bar and the noise travelled easily. I had my noise cancelling earbuds in so this didn't present a problem for me. Cheers!

Family lunch to celebrate nanny’s 109th birthday after a visit to Ashridge Estate. Delicious Sunday roast served by friendly staff, especially Joules and the young man in the pink t-shirt. We will definitely be back.

Very good service food is excellent the only disappointing is the meat pie which is in a pot rather than the whole thing which made it the best now it's on a par with other pub restaurants which is a shame it was so good .location is countryside parking can be tough at peak time but worth a visit

We had a lovely lunch. There were 4 of us. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The landlady was great fun and kept us amused. The pub/restaurant is in a quaint village setting. In all we had a lovely time.
