White Cross Pub in Kirklees

We had called in weeks earlier to ask if they would be open when we were doing a sponsored walk. They phoned us the day before, got the cook in specially and provided us with a first rate lunch - speedily! Thank you!

First time trying this pub would highly recommend it the staff are amazing the food portions we couldn’t even finish them so much and the prices are really good

Went today with some friends after seeing it was back open and serving food. Was not disappointed. I had ham sandwich in a granary roll , one of my friends had tuna melt on granary and another the all day breakfast. We also ordered some onion rings. Was all cooked fresh , the hot food was hot not greasy and tasted beautiful. My sandwich was really nice . Will definitely be going again. Staff were lovely and friendly too.

One of the best pubs I've been to. The staff and manager are very friendly and welcoming. It's a great family pub too. There is a play area at the back which is 100% safe. The food is extremely amazing and home cooked.

Called in yesterday for a Sunday lunch it was excellent, when I saw the price I did not expect much but it was lovely with plenty of everything it's a shame other pubs charge so much. Will be back soon.

Moored the boat on the canal just down the road and we were looking for somewhere to eat Sunday lunch. So glad we found this place by chance - probably the best value Sunday lunch I have had in a very long time. The food was beautifully cooked and plentiful. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. If you are boating up this way try and stop here if you want a good meal.

Absolutely shocking embarrassing behaviour of bar tender Layla. Would never in my life expect someone in her age to behave like this. We come in and sat on little table in front of tele and because it was football i just look behind to make sure I don’t block view to anyone. They ask ,,can you move table a little bit to left” Sure I moved it whole 4cm. Next thing I know there is Layla shouting something from the bar to our room. I cant hear a word she is saying and ask ,, I cant hear her is she speaking to us or someone else?” Showed her with my hand i cant hear her sorry. Next thing she is storming to where we are and shouting to me ,,move table back!” Sure I get it there might be rules not to move it even little bit so I put table right where it was. Layla goes : ,,move it back I said! I know where I put my tables! “ I was just shocked that someone shouts at me like that so rude! I reply that This is where table was I don’t know why are you shouting at me. Layla went : ,,WELL IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THERE IS THE DOOR!!!!!!!” Is this even serious?! Never have I in my life had someone speak to me like that. And I managed busy restaurants for years. I can appreciate stress when its busy but this was absolutely disgusting and she should be spoken to about it. She might see something different in her eyes form bar but thats why you speak to people not shout. Disgusting! I am last person to leave bad reviews but this was too much for me ! Dont waste time coming to place where they speak to customers like rubbish

This is a traditional pub serving good food and very good beers and wine. The staff are very friendly and John and Sharon are excellent hosts. The food is very good and excellent value for money. Food is prepared quickly and served with a friendly smile. Proportions are good and served hot.
