This used to be one of the villages most popular pubs. I went in for a pint last week & what has happened? On a Friday night there were literally a handful of people in, no atmosphere, no wallpaper on one side of the bar & to be honest an insult to previous landlords that made it a go to pub!! Whoever owns this needs to reach deep into their pockets & shell out a few quid to decorate it. Bar staff could do with a boost of energy too. Come on , too many pubs are closing as it is, make us proud.

Went to the white bear Inn over the carnival weekend, although it's a nice pub with a beer garden and a childs play area at the back, I was actually mortified to see how many people was vaping in this establishment and this included the land lady actually vaping behind the bar, as a smoker myself who has to go outside in respect of other people, I don't feel there was any respect or consideration from the many people who was vaping and puffing smoke over other paying customers and I don't feel the landlady set any examples in respect of her premises, smoking is smoking weather it be cigarettes or a vape everyone should have respect for others when in public places.

Cycling the Leeds Liverpool canal from Leeds with two of my friends, what a friendly welcome we received when we eventually arrived ! All the staff were more than helpful and couldn`t do enough for us, even letting us eat the takeaway we got in the back bar and providing us with plates, knives and forks etc ! Great banter in the bar whilst watching the boxing Saturday night and in the main bar a very talented saxophone player also with a good crowd in attendance ! Fantastic breakfast the next morning with more than enough to see us for the next 43 miles ! Very clean, tidy and organised rooms and they very kindly secured our bikes within the pub for the evening. As three tired and very weary blokes having cycled 87 miles that day it was just what we needed. I cannot reccomend this highly enough and actually much more personal than any premier inn or travelodge ! Thanks so much again we are actually looking to book again for September 2022 ! Thank you !

Booked a room but unable to book in as phone wasn't answered and despite repeated phone calls and leaving my number when I eventually spoke to someone, nobody rang me back. Very disappointed. I went to pick my car up at about 8.30pm and could only see one customer in the pub on Saturday night! I had tried booking by email but the lady I spoke to when I rang, because nobody replied to my email, said we've just taken over and haven't got round to looking at the emails yet. I ended up on a settee at my cousins in Burnley! I would have thought new management would have been keen to build the business up, obviously I was wrong.

I went into this pub with family as a quick stop so I could have a brew and give my son his bottle. It is not a family environment and I wouldn't have gone if i hadn't needed to feed him. However, there was nowhere else open. The tables were sticky and didn't look clean, it was cold and smelly. We went mid afternoon and people were drinking/drunk already. I have not been part of the pub Culture since I was younger so perhaps I'm not appreciating it for the old, dated local it is. It wasn't inviting at all and I can't imagine it will attract new customers or even passing traffic. It seems like a place for regulars and that's all. I wouldn't go again or recommend it.

Servicing an array of liquid consumables. Sky sports and football games can be viewed here, there is a discount of 20p off every pint when games are on, seems a fair compensation for having to watch premier league football, although sometimes the bar tender forgets to give this special discount. There is a beer garden, but most like to sit out at the front on the benches, in summer baking to a lobster red. Avid car spotters can enjoy the motoring on the A6, if you're lucky you may catch an incident, the zebra crossing with mini-roundabout combo has always been a heady mix. They may do food, I have eaten there many years ago, it was pub grub, what can be noteworthy of that? In summary, this is one of the better pubs of lower Adlington, cheaper than the Bridge, although if you don't give the Bridge a bit of business then Adlington may lose yet another pub.

I booked this B&B for 3 friends cycling the Leeds to Liverpool canal. This was the end of day 2 of 3. The landlord was very helpful on the phone and price competative. However when they arrived, the first question asked was for payment. They were then asked what time they would like breakfast and that it would be a big breakfast ( much needed with 45+ miles to go). However when they went down for breakfast the bar was in a state of disaray(empty glasses everywhere) and a note on the bar with a refund for breakfast stating kitchen closed no breakfast. There may be good reason for this but there was nobody about to ask and no explanation offered. I feel I let my friends down, and am disappointed that I have had no correspondence from Peter ( the landlord who I spoke to when booking) since. Would not recommend

We were staying in the area for a few days and decided to have a walk in the village of Adlington as it was a beautiful day ,we saw a pub offering ,homemade Duncan lunch and thought it sounded just what we had in mind!we entered the white bear bar and ordered our drinks and asked about the Sunday lunch ,the bar person said to sit were ever we wanted and someone would be with us to take our order ,the pub its self looked like it could have done with a return and lacked that sparkle I had expected from outside ,I'd say it looked a little unloved inside ,the lady took our order and offered 2,3, courses we chose just the one course ,I had beef and pork and my husband had just beef ,it was very soon served to our table and as we love vegetables we were very pleased to see 3 fresh veg not frozen ,tasty new potatoes too and a large helping of meats on both places ,the gravy was tasty and all the meals served hot and fresh , no complaints from us about our lunches ,my husband wanted to see the end of the formula 1 race so I went into the large beer garden ,only to see the cook and her husband taking there veg order from a man who had GROWN the veg and that explained why the veg was so tasty ,it was indeed very fresh ,WELL DONE too the kitchen staff your cooking was very good and was definitely fresh and HOMEMADE, but the bar its self could do with a bit more love and attention!

Arrived for an early lunch. Got off to a good start with hot water in clean toilets; however soap dispenser did not work and, although reported, it had not been attended to an hour later. Ordered beef bourgignon, which lacked in taste but was reasonably cheap. A nice fire was lit but, otherwise, the service was non existent. Although I was the only person eating, the three members of staff sat gossiping in the other room and made no attempt to clear my plate or offer the dessert menu. My family and I visited The White Bear for a get together and were treated to a great meal all round. You couldn't knock the meal for value for money as we managed to eat and have several drinks each for a total bill of just over £100 for eight people. The service was attentive and friendly, but not obtrusive and there are a nice selection of beers and real ales available for a village pub.People may have seen this pub on the Channel 4 programme "Four In A Bed". What I would say is ignore how The White Bear was presented on screen because you will be treated with a great meal for a more than decent price and with great customer service.

We've gone the the White Bear on a few occasions for Sunday lunch after it received a glowing review in the Chorley Guardian. Usually the food is, for the price, fairly good with reasonable service. I must admit I was a bit nervous about returning after I sampled the "White Bear Whopper" which was, quite simply, the worst burger I've ever tasted. It consisted of 2 hopelessly underseasoned and tasteless brown circles of some sort of meat, with a rasher of bacon and a very sad looking Kraft cheese slice. The contents were presented in a soggy barmcake and were as unappetising as they looked. So, back to the Sunday roast it is then.On our next visit, soups and roasts were duly ordered. The mushroom soup arrived and had way too much pepper in it. I asked if the Chef could do anything and was told no, that was the way she'd made it! Oh, all right then. Can Chef stir a little Creme Fraiche into the soup to take some of the heat out of it? Our waitress went to check and came back with news that Chef had used up all of the Creme Fraiche yesterday. At times like this, the little voice that pops into my head wanted to point out that there was a supermarket across the road and I could go and get some if Chef wanted but I thought better of it. The soup, therefore remained uneaten. The mains followed and were their usual, inoffensive, selves but no mention was made of the soup. We had paid for 2 courses so did they offer a refund? No. Did they offer a dessert instead of the soup? No. Will we be going back? No.

Six of us came out tonight. Four adults and two children, aged 14 and six, for my birthday and I’m so pleased we chose this place. Firstly, we were greeted by lovely, friendly staff and the pub was immaculate, fires on! We placed our drinks orders at the bar and were shown to our table in front of the open fire. The adult ls chose tapas, Argentinian steak kebabs and the kids chose, burgers and chicken nuggets.. it was all presented beautifully and all plates clean! So good! We had pudding of cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding, pavlova, brownies, with icecream and cream… all hoovered up! Was lovely to see the owner, Chris, who visited each table to ensure everyone enjoyed their food and was happy and was genuinely interested in the feedback for the new food items added only that day. The pud is warm and welcoming. Lovely to see the well behaved dogs welcomed into the pub. It really feels like a lovely, friendly community hub, something that is so missing with a lot of pubs these days. Well done Chris and Leanne. We will be back! We only wish we could have stayed for the live music tonight!

I got my order about 45 minutes after placing it - one coffee, one pastry and a muffin at a location five minutes away. Not the driver's fault! Costa took a very long time to prepare the order. From my understanding the driver was waiting at Costa for a long time. It shouldn't take the most part of an hour to get coffee :( I ordered it for my morning overtime at my workplace and it was nearly time to open to the public when my breakfast came. And the croissant was stale. Sorry:(
