Friendly staff, reasonably priced beer, what's not to like.

Food was spot on. Had the bbq chicken and ribs chips

I used to come here frequently with my mum when I lived at home (over 10 years ago!) and for whatever reasons, haven't been since. We were out today with the baby and after looking at the menu online we thought we'd give it a try. First impressions - the place smelled fresh, was very clean and it was apparent that the staff paid attention to detail as the menus on the tables all faced the same way (sounds silly, but a refreshing change from the sticky, dog eared menus you often see in the chain pubs!) Staff were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Few issues with stock due to changing ownership but the food we ordered was hot, tasty and well presented. Plus the lunchtime deal was great value. Atmosphere was very pleasant, a mix of clientele which gave the impression that it's a much loved pub in the community.

Food is very inconsistent, a lot of the time you have to go to the bar to order things.

Popped in for lunch with my partner yesterday. First time ever visiting and we had a great time. Food was amazing the new menu is not to be missed, Karen was happy to help us with anything we needed.

Had a great lunch visit with friends. The staff were nice, warm and friendly really made us feel welcome. The food was hot and quick to the table. Overall a great time.

Had an early lunch so it wasn't too busy good menu choice and very reasonable prices. They also don't all day breakfast which was good.

Absolutely terrible experience. The food took well over an hour to arrive and it was really bad microwave food, poorly presented. No apology or explanation for the length of wait. When asked, we were told that the kitchen was under pressure due to take away orders that they prioritised!

Definitely wont be returning, and it was a huge disappointment for us and our family who had driven from Cumbria to join us for a meal

Firstly got to say we were made welcome by staff but thereafter everything went down hill. Good drinks choice and varied food menu but for some impossible reason woeful service and food that certainly wasn’t up to standard! With virtually no one else seated we ordered s small rump steak and large tikka curry. 40 minutes later apology offered ( free drink) as no food in sight and others served: after an hours wait food served and the steak was totally, totally inedible, the peas dried out and a so called pepper sauce tasted like powder. Enhanced curry with only 5 tiny pieces of chicken certainly lacked quality and quantity. Reported displeasure at the end and whilst server said he would talk to manager , we waited another 10mins but no report back. Fair to say these meals weren’t up to scratch and a complete let down

Great pub, stopped in for a bit of lunch and to meet some friends, loads of space for the car, great atmosphere! Didn't catch the name of the lass who served us but give that girl a raise! Super welcoming and really helpful with my wife's dietary requirements. Definitely a local gem, I'd recommend to anyone!

Booked table on line as advert on Facebook requested, for festive menu. Got there, no festive menu unless I'd booked the actual meal 10 days in advance! The Facebook advert didn't display that! 😟. Decided to have turkey pie from menu, they didn't have any! Very disappointed 😞

Really disappointed as once again we arrived to be told the kitchen had closed! We used to be in all the time and had recently avoided as this had happened too many times. But we had been reassured that food service was now until 9pm by the new manager. However on Sunday it had shut before 7pm. Even though Google shows food til 9pm too. Unfortunately this makes us reluctant to come for food as we cannot rely on it being available again. 😞 so once again I ended up with a bag of crisps for tea. We remained in all evening as we were chatting with friends otherwise we would have left.

This is a pub close to my mother's, I have obviously drank in here many times over the years. Tuesday was the first day I'd eaten here for many years, it's was burger day and for £5.99 you got a burger and chips with a drink. I have to say this made me worry about quality! I ordered the triple chicken burger, which was a chicken breast, pulled chicken and a piece of southern fried chicken on it which was superb ! My mother had the surf and turf one (beef and scampi) which she said was excellent. Overall a superb lunch at an amazing price, staff all really nice and helpful. Will definitely be back, seems like they have a deal everyday. Not been here for a while and visited today with my mum and son. We had the 2 course for £7.99 lunch special. My son and I had the steak sub and chips, mother opted for the steak pie and chips , I have to say great portion sizes and the food was really tasty. We went for the dessert instead of starters, the Eton mess sundae was superb and big. We will definitely be back the staff are really lovely.

Came today for lunch with my husband and friend. Great menu and fantastic service from Sarah. My friends children really enjoyed what they had. I had the lasagna with garlic bread and salad. Hubby had Mac n cheese and said it was delicious. Will definitely go again.

We had a great time at the Bay Horse. We had gammon and a burger both cooked to perfection. The team were happy to help and very attentive. The drinks were cold and refreshing while the food was hot and did the job. The atmosphere in the pub was warm and friendly.

We hadn't been in the Bay Horse for a while as we weren't keen on the last manager but heard there was a new manager so decided to pop in. As soon as we pulled up we could see the difference. The car park was clean, the beer garden made sense in its layout and the welcome as you walked in was different.

Had a great time at the bay horse. The food was amazing, the team were happy and talkative, overall we had a good time and would go again.

Visited The Bay Horse for the first time and loved everything about my time here. The food was fantastic, we went for a Katsu and Burning Hot Burgers.. absolutely delicious 😋 the staff were brilliant too - very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly be back!

We normally get lunch here once every couple of months when we are in Chorley for business, but sadly not today. We arrived there around 1.30pm and tried to order a couple of beers. However the were no bar staff on - not even one! I looked around to find a member of staff but there was literally nobody working! After 10 minutes or so a waitress did enter the bar to serve food at a table, but still no staff working the bar. She came and left and then returned to serve me. She poured me a Carlsberg, but then had trouble pouring the John Smiths for my disabled friend (who had been waiting patiently). That was it for me, we waited for my other friend to arrive, drunk up, and headed to the Pizza Pub just down the road for lunch - where we got served straight away. - Its sad as the BH use to be a great pub for lunch, but I understand its gone down hill now since the new owner took over.

It Used to be Absolutely Fantastic 💯 %, Never no issues!!, Now a knew menu what's Totally Expensive, Not value for your money, And when I approached the bar staff, She said just complain on line, She didn't wanna know, Won't ever be going again, unless things & Staff change.

Visited today with my husband at noon.We ordered drinks and food was told on ordering it was a new menu we usually visit a few times but we didn't know this and asked when it changed and was told about 2 weeks ago. So we proceeded to order cheesy garlic bread starters for us both as they no longer do garlic mushrooms. 😔 My husband ordered hunters chicken but the name had changed. Smallest slither of chicken smothered in bbq sauce with very dry tasteless chips and petis pois peas instead of garden peas. I ordered rump steak which came with same dry chips and petis pois peas but had an extra portion of onion rings. The steak was full of grissly fat and I couldn't eat it the chips tasted awful and dry and the whole meal wasn't very nice. Nobody asked us if our meal was OK and it was as we were leaving the bar staff asked and my husband said not really and explained. The young lady told us that it was under new management and was a new supplier and nothing she could do about it. After paying £46.00 for a meal we will not be returning here again worst meal ever.🤢

We visited the bay horse on Good Friday, we had a couple of drinks and decided to stay and book a table for 7 (4 adults and 3 teenagers) We asked at the bar and the manager said 'no', he wasn't taking anymore bookings for food. We think he didn't want the hassle of cooking for 7. We found out the following day that they continued to serve food for the rest of the evening. Considering this is our friendly local pub, we feel we have been let down. Great pub and great staff, but this is let down by the Manager who clearly isnt interested in the locals!!!!

Arrived on Mothers Day for lunch, the place was fairly quiet. We sat down and ordered a mains each. The rest of our party arrived 15 minutes later and ordered 4 starters as they were eating light. After waiting for 45 minutes we questioned the staff as to when our meals would be coming. Ten minutes later the 4 starters arrived for the table despite being ordered 15 minutes later than our meal. We questioned again and we’re offered some free drinks which we didn’t need, so refused. We were told that they were plating ours. Ours finally arrived 20 minutes later, 70 minutes after ordering. They were placed down and the manager I believe, simply walked off. I thought she might clear the other 4 empty plates, considering they’d all left to go to the football but no we were expected to eat our meal staring at those. Interestingly no one came back to check on the quality of the food for any of the meals. If they had we would of let them know the gravy for the roast dinner was stone cold, the mash potato was like a firm dough ball the vegetables bland and the cauliflower cheese was the worst I’d ever seen. It resembled a puddle of sick on the side of the plate, I paid extra for the privilege. An orange mess of melted cheddar cheese with a couple of pieces of cauliflower. All in all a disgraceful experience. Our first and last visit to this dire eatery. Train your staff on how to provide a decent standard of service, better communication with the kitchen and ask your customer what they would like you to do in the event of the above. Nothing short of a refund would of been acceptable. As we were now late to leave for an event I didn’t have the time to force the issue having already paid.

A good atmosphere and the bear was very good. But the food was unbeatable. Not was it was just a few weeks ago. I don't know what's gone on maybe they have changed their supplier.

Nipped in with my wife for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime. We both had the Philly Steak sandwich off the lunch menu which I must say was lovely we both really enjoyed it. Portion size was generous and I got a pint with mine at the cost of an extra pound. Staff are pleasant, food came promptly, pub was nicely decorated for xmas. Really pleased we popped by.

Went for a bite to eat, waited around fifteen mins at bar in first instance for a drink as they were short staffed. One lady behind bar that was incredibly slow and about as charismatic as a bar of soap. She even served two people that were at the bar after me - if you’re going to work on a bar at least watch it and serve in order. I was stood at the bar when food was was ordered, guy out of kitchen literally rolled their eyes when they were told they had an order in. Waited around thirty mins for food it was just like warm I left most of mine. Maybe we went at a bad time. Just one lady stood out that actually cared and had some go in her - Karen, serving on bar and only one serving the food. Not been since before Covid and will not be rushing back.

I visited the Bay Horse with my friend and daughter and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. Ciarran the chef is an absolute credit to the place. My food was delicious, the steak cooked to perfection, everything about the food was perfect. Will definitely be back!

Went to the bay horse for a meal with my 2 kids to cheer my daughter up as she hasn't had the best of days, ordered three meals with the new landlady and paid for the 3 meals together, I got my fish n chips and started to eat as the kids meals hadn't arrived yet and it was a good job as we waited 25 minutes for there meals. The "landlady" did not even try to apologise and thus I will tell everyone I know how bad the "landlady" and her attitude was

Staff were busy but never failed to be hospitable. Children were welcomed and they even catered to my special needs child's dietary requirements! Good old fashioned setting with an exceptional choice of food and drinks. Highly recommend if your looking for a wholesome environment :-)
