Good value meal great menu service could have been better

Went for breakfast with my family this morning and couldn’t even get in well past the stated opening time. Waited patiently and tried twice but staff couldn’t be bothered to unlock the door and were oblivious to us standing outside. Had to leave in the end.

Deals here on food are fantastic. Burgers are good quality and staff very friendly. On one of our visits the place was very busy however food still arrived fairly quickly. In terms of constructive criticism, the toilets have frequently been in a poor state with bad smells and the some of the food has arrived not as hot as it would have been fresh (particularly the fries) however the meals were still enjoyable. When served the desserts the plates from the main meals were not cleared meaning we had to squeeze the dessert plates onto the table. The portion sizes in terms of the crumbles I believe should be bigger too.

Came in again for breakfast, was served by a lady on bar, very polite. Our food was delicious, I had a large breakfast and my partner the steak and eggs, all was hot and well cooked.

I really enjoyed my lasagna, cheesy chips along with my halloumi fries. As an adult Disney lover I really loved and appreciate that the lady, serving my meals, Ainsley had a super cool cinderella tiara on. My dessert was super duper yummy 😋 as well. I would definitely recommend eating there and would 💯 go again 🫶🏻👌🏻✨️

Kira was a great host and very helpful Marsh, Mark and Dan provided great food and was very filling and fresh and the gravy was FIT

I ordered a mix grill, when it came I was shocked how small it was, the chicken breast was dry and hardly warm like it had been cooked an hour ago, sausages were from breakfast time and the skins were chewy and Luke warm, the steak was the size of a 50pence piece and the pineapple was hard… my son ordered a burger of some description and it was like a wet substance on bread… this place is probably the worst place I’ve ever had food from…. I would not return and definitely not recommend

Great pub atmosphere is always good tonnes of screens for the sport lover like myself .. food is great and very fairly priced and the bar staff are friendly and fast love this place

The main meal was great, really tasty food and service was quick! We were happy to be accommodated as we had quite a big group! The 2 people at the bar were lovely and happy to help us to where our table was! The atmosphere was also good and not at all uncomfortable or rowdy as some places get! As it got busier, the desserts took a little while but Kira, our server, was amazing! She went out of her way to ensure we got our desserts as the kids were getting a little restless and even offered to get a small bowl of ice cream for our baby- we declined as he was tired but it really made our day as she was so thoughtful! Honestly, what a lovely and polite young lady! She constantly went miles out of her way to check everyone was okay and if we needed anything else. Kira really made the afternoon a 10/10! What a great employee! Thank you! :)

Been for a meal tonight with my younger sister. Firstly served by a gentleman at the bar, very polite. The young lady that served us at the table with our food called Kira was very polite and professional and came to check back with us to see if our meal was ok. Was told this was her first shift, she’s a credit to the team.

There are additional food and drink offers as well. Quiz nights at War Horse are the highlight of the week for many Buckshaw residents. It's lots of fun and family friendly. Come and have a go if you think you're clever enough 😅

Came in on Sunday with my daughter she ordered the kids meal deal, great value for money!!! The young lady Lily that served us was lovely with my daughter and overall very attentive and chatty, would 100% recommend to families

War horse I been going to warhorse for a few years the service is reasonable the food is good the staff are very welcoming to be honest it be nice to offer more cask ales there is only a couple of cask ales available the service is resonble I personally don't mind the service the only thing it is laking is entertainment the atmosphere is resonble I like to see more cask ales availability but in all furness I think the war hourse is a really great family pub the staff are always polite and welcoming

Have used this place for a few years and it had always been lovely, then, a little while ago I think it must have changed hands because it was awful, so, we never went back until about 6 months ago, and what a change! It was lovely! So, we're now back to our go to place

Food is absolutely awful sausages look under cooked and are hard the portions are kids sizes. Something needs to be done you can not under any circumstances serve food like that

Excellent service. Came for my sons birthday and they looked after us all so well. I brought a cake and they brought it out without him knowing even serving plates and forks. I come here often and even if there is a complaint which is rare they are quick to put it right. Ask for caz she is lovely and always keen to help. Nothing is ever a trouble to her. Sure she is the manager. Will go out of her way to serve and make sure everything is okay.

Called in on a Saturday after playing hockey at Buckshaw Village for some food with team mates. Ordered the Lamb Kofta wrap, which was very good. Would have liked there to have been a bit more Lamb bit otherwise very good. Would call it a light bite meal which was good for me as it left room for my favourite dessert of Mixed Berry Crumble with hot Custard!!! (Not all places serve it piping hot ☹️) Will be going back.

Been here a few times and had a great visit. Not so tonight. Ordered food and drinks at the bar. Waitress told me she would top up the Guiness and bring it over. Ten minutes later told she had forgotten it. No apology. The order of two chicken sizzlers arrived and both had small, grey and wet looking half chicken, with no sizzle at all. Five minutes under a hot grill could have made them more appeitizing, but not increased the amount of chicken. The fries, chips and onion rings were great. The coleslaw was worse than a supermarket value range, no flavour at all. Told to collect the cutlery from the service counter. No forks. Asked for them, and they arrived but no staff member had the courtesy to bring them to our table. We had to trot off again. My flat white coffee was undrinkable. The accessible toilet floor was wet through and hadn't been marked as inspected for two hours. So..... plenty of room for improvement... and at 6pm plenty of empty tables!!

Came in for food on Friday and we were promptly greeted by Ainsley who was very happy and smiley. We went to order food and drinks at the bar and she was very knowledgeable with the questions we had about the menu. We ordered hot drinks and she offered to bring them to our table which we thought was lovely. When the drinks arrived, they were hot and tasty. Our food arrived rather promptly, which was cooked by chefs Dan and Blake. Ainsley also brought our food to us and it was cooked perfectly. Everything we asked for was correct, the food was piping hot and tasted fantastic and to make it even better, it was served by such a smiley person which made our experience so much better. After we had eaten, Ainsley cleared our table and asked if we would like any more drinks or desserts. We were full up from the large portions of food, however we thought it was so nice of her to ask. Ainsley never seemed to stop and was constantly working so hard, swapping between the bar and serving food alongside another server. We had a lovely chat with her just before we were leaving and we were more than happy to leave her a gleaming review as she made our visit all the more special. We will definitely be returning and hopefully Ainsley will be our server again. Thanks so much to her and the chefs for such a fantastic experience!

From first walking in we were greeted at the bar with smile, the staff were excellent, very helpful and put you at ease, Amy looked after us from start to finish, the food was excellent and service couldn't be better, even the manager Caz came to see how our stay was today probably noticing it was our first visit to the establishment.. and I do as won't be the last.. not sure I've been to a place that has been so friendly and welcoming.. well done to all the staff and compliments to the chef

Slow service.. dirty tables. Glasses..wrong order given..cold food waif for fresh food all my family their meal. 1 staff member on bar.. ridiculous won't be ina rush to return. Service is shocking.. who wants eat a cold burger? Cold fries..sit at a dirty table. Drink from a dirty glass?

Had a family meal here on the 24th December the meal was disgusting the turkey was cheap roll the veg was not cooked enough carrots Brussels hard the cauliflower was the stork only and the potatoes were cold.the staff didn't ask if they could do anything for you they wasn't interested yet it cost over £100 for a meal that was fit for the bins only.we will never return again.please avoid the place also the fire alarm went of and the chief stood at the bar drinking No Staff came over to explain why the alarm 🚨 was ringing blood joke.

Breakfast with Santa amazing. Well Staffed Fantastic vibe. And and kids are loving it. And after considering a few places to bring them. So glad we chose The warhorse we was sat in a booth with Christmas roof decorated lovely. £10 per child amazing value. Staff and Owners literally got this place looking Amazing for Xmas Inside and outside. Very inviting. Thanks Guys

Service was good nice lady seated us unfortunately she did say someone was sat at our reserve table but they did have a table empty so wasn’t a problem. Service at the bar was ok a little busy but expected due to Christmas Eve. Food was fantastic for the non vegetarians unfortunately me my husband and daughter had the same menu item for vegetarians and it was just a non meat burger on lettuce in a plain bun no sauce no tomato onions nothing with a hand full of chips on the side. Felt like if you are a vegetarian we don’t care shame really has we loved are vegetarian meals last Christmas Eve couldn’t fault them. But different staff and cooks can alter a pub and make a difference we won’t be back unfortunately.

Visited again today with our three granddaughters, food not quite as good as previous visits, ladies toilets no soap in dispensers. Staff always helpful

We went to war horse today , for the Santa with breakfast and it was brilliant. Very well organised. Lovely service throughout. Santa was the best I’ve ever seen.good value for money. Kids really enjoyed it. Good food and atmosphere. We will be defo booking for next year.

We had a blast at breakfast with Santa! The kids loved their food, but a bit of toast would've made it perfect. The eggs were a tad overcooked, but everything else was yummy. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed. Santa was amazing! He came to our table to chat with the kids, and then they got to visit his grotto for more fun and a special gift. He looked so real, it was like the real Santa was there!

Visited today for breakfast with Santa with my partner and 2 year old and we had an amazing morning. The whole thing was ran excellent. Staff were brilliant, shown to your table which was decorated and plenty of Christmas crafts to keep the little ones busy. A great choice of breakfast for kids and adults with special Christmas pancakes on offer. The santa was absolutely brilliant and by far the best Santa we've ever seen. So much patience with my little girl, didn't feel rushed like many other places. Staff took photos in a lovely corner they had set up with a back drop. Food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and happily spoke to families which was really nice 10/10 and hopefully we can visit for the same event next year, it will be top of our list! Thank you!

We booked a Christmas family meal at The War Horse. There was a lot of us, some travelling from down south, so weren't sure what to expect. As It happens, it exceeded our expectations. Service was brilliant and the meals were lovely. It was organised so well, there was no long wait between courses at all. We want to thank Amy our server who was fantastic and also chefs Dan and Mark. The Manager was brilliant too, having a laugh with us. Nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely go back and would highly recommend

Always, always been a pleasure to eat out here with the family. Staff are really welcoming and pleasant to speak to, they go above and beyond if you need anything. Food is delicious and can't complain at the prices either.

Wonderful Sunday lunch today at the war horse. Staff were super welcoming and accommodating to our needs. Roasties are crispy, veg was well cooked and meat was juicy! Very reasonably priced and we will definitely be returning!

I visited the war horse on Saturday evening on our arrival we was treated with a walk welcome by a lovely woman on the bar caz,we was promptly seated in a nice snug area of the pub, the Christmas atmosphere and decor made the entire experience surreal for me and all of my party, we decided to order of the ores and pay app,when placing our order the app reflected live wait time which we thought so sophisticated comparison to other venues we have visited in the Chorley area, after placing the order we sat back and relaxed almost instantly our drinks arrived at our table with a pleasant smile nothing was to much trouble, we had ordered of the festive menus as we wanted the full experience and can’t fault in any way the food was hot generous portions and arrived very swiftly shout out to blake the chef everything was correct witch we find to be an issue as we was a party of 12 and almost never correct in other venues and his food was unreal must bidet this pub it doesn’t disappoint we all will be back

Ordered the full English Fried egg was not eatable - rock solid The rest of the meal was not much better. Lots of oil on the plate, toast was cold and hard
