Totally refurbished and under new management. It is part of the railway and craft shop complex. Great baking, good selection of snacks and hot food. Quite spacious and good prices, quick service and friendly staff. They do picnics as well as normal cafe food.

.Visited on a stop from the adjoining heritage railway. Really nice tea and cake, and a decent variety of cakes, seems as poluar with locals as it does for the tourist trade which suggests it does what it does well.

Found this little cafe on way back from lake's it's part of the station in bedale. Only had coffee and a piece of lemon cake which was large and tasty. Coffee for 2 came in a cafetiere which served at least 2 cups each. Also got a frozen yoghurt for our dog which is a nice touch.

Donna & her team are FAB, really friendly, serve a good range of hearty food. Hot & Cold are on offer, FABtastic breakfasts too. Well worth a wander down the hill from the market place towards the railway line, Yorkshire Tea and FAB Yorkshire cakes on offer too. I've reported no for "Is this restaurant good for dinner?" Just purely because it's not open into the later evening.. Call 01677 426446

Called in on a Saturday for breakfast. No one else in but cannot fathom why?! Glorious breakfast - the closest you'll get to home cooked without, well, being at home! All freshly cooked; lovely bacon, sausages and perfectly cooked eggs. Very generous portions too. All served in lovely historical surroundings by charming staff. Highly, highly recommended!

The Whistle Stop is a clean, tidy and pleasant cafe within the station building at Bedale. They have a good selection of meals, hot snacks and sandwiches as well as cakes etc for those of sweeter tooth. Prices are very reasonable and service is pleasant and efficient. I had the full English breakfast which was very good and at £6.99, including tea and toast, represented decent value.

Visited this lovely little cafe for lunch. Located at the railway station in Bedale, quite small and tables close together but the food is delicious. Brunch, consisting of sausage, 2 rashers bacon, egg and huge chips £4.95. Good selection of hot and cold sandwiches, quiche, home made pies and cakes. Actually bought some cakes to bring home and the waitress boxed them up for us. Four of us ate there today, all hot meals with drinks £22.70 excellent value. Very friendly service. Bonus of seeing the Wensleydale railway trains pull in and out. Definitely worth a visit.

We were told about this cafe and its delicious freshly made breakfasts and we were certainly not dissapointed. We arrived on Sunday morning all 6 of us and were looked after very well indeed, 4 of us had the traditional breakfast and the other 2 had the big big breakfast. Everything was cooked fresh from ordering and took about 20 minutes to arrive, even though there was 6 of us, all the meals arrived together. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, so much so, not a scrap was left on any plate, and all for a very reasonable £6.99 inc tea/coffee. Well worth the trip and highly recommended, another thing that was noted was you can see the kitchen when ordering, which was immaculately clean as was the cafe.

Recently visited cafe en route from Northallerton to Leyburn. As a wheelchair user, I found access perfect. Staff not very personable. Just found the place lacked atmosphere. They don't seem to sell themselves

Called in here as it was close to the A1 on the way to Beamish museum. Well worth the visit smashing bacon sandwich and cup of tea. Prices very reasonable and nice and clean. The pasties looked particularly good but Didn't have the appetite to tackle one. I would recommend It as an excellent alternative to stopping at the usual overpriced service areas one of which you have to drive past to get to the Whistle Stop.

Unfortunately a crowd of trainspotters were all in and just before us which caused a long delay as only one serving and one cooking. When the food arrived it was very good and reasonably priced. We would go back but look in to see how busy it was

Visited today in the early afternoon, and decided to have coffee and a piece of cake. The staff were helpful and pleasant, and considering the time of day the café was quite busy with five couples eating. The cake was homemade and very good, and a large cappuccino is indeed LARGE.The prices are reasonable and the other customers appeared to be enjoying their food - will call again in the future - hopefully when there are some steam trains passing through the station.

Visited here with a group of cyclists on a sunny Sunday morning. The staff put extra tables outside for us, with it being so warm or perhaps so we stayed outside being a bit sweaty! Had a coffee and a cake and whilst we were there some of the old trains went by. Will definitely revisit with train mad son! They also do meals which looked good, especially the pies.

I'm a regular at the Whistle Stop Café, every Saturday I have my breakfast and without doubt it is served quickly and efficiently. I meet my Grandparents here which is their favourite part of the week! My Gran struggles with her walking yet the staff here are absolutely brilliant and do what they can for her. I don't usually write reviews but I thought it deserved a mention as I have been going in every Saturday for the past 2 years and each time I have a brilliant breakfast. I came in on Saturday with 9 other people for a stag do to start off our morning and each of us had "Bedale's Biggest Breakfast" which I would highly recommend! Thanks for having us!

After being overcharged by £2 we had the "home baked" steak pie and chips. It's a standard chip shop frozen pie baked on the premises. Not home made: big difference. Standard caff fair. Tea served with pot of cooling water and teabags in the cup! Just put them in the pot please! Staff very pleasant though.

Called in for lunch before some of our party used the Wensleydale Railway. The cafe was spotlessly clean, the young staff were really polite and patient when our 4 grandchildren were faffing about trying to decide which ice creams to have. Food was cooked to order, was very tasty and was excellent value for money. Cakes were really tasty.

Called here mid morning for coffee and light breakfast; coffee, food and service was excellent - cooked freshly to order. Please get the ventilation and extractor working properly. We noticed two couples come in and go out again due to the strong cooking "mist" in the air and strong cooking smell - we were visiting at the beginning of October on a mild day and the winter hasn't started yet.

Service is second to none. Always very friendly and smiling staff who will go out of their way to assist you.the all day breakfasts are brilliant and excellent value for money and as for the cakes, mmmmmm. Add to this the fact it is right alongside the Wensleydale railway so you can watch the old locomotives go past.

These reviews must have been written by friends and family!Went here with friends at lunch time on a hot sunny day and the place was completely empty apart from a couple sat outside on the one and only table that was outside. The menu was very basic, ie sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, soup and sausage rolls and I could go on about the poor service like wrong cutlery, no coleslaw, and staff not knowing what soup it was for the day etc but what I will say is that they seemed uninterested and inexperienced. I will not be going again!

This place ought to be a gold mine because the cakes & breakfasts are fantastic. Our grandchildren love to eat here & hope they see the trains. The food is brilliant & hello bikers this is a great place for you to fill up on good English grub. Newspapers are often available too. When the weather is fine outside is safe for kids to enjoy the meal & have a run around.

Based at Bedale Station, The Whistle Stop Cafe is a new cafe I have been eager to visit. My boyfriend and I stopped by for a quick lunch and left stuffed and smiling. The cafe is clean in both decor and cleanliness. I would recommend the naughty but nice hot chocolate with cream and super soft marshmallows. We had a sausage bun and a sausage roll with chips and salad. The service was friendly and prompt. I will definitely visit again!

Lovely little war time themed cafe. Fantastic atmosphere and great staff. Food is delicious, everything freshly made. Would highly recommend, especially for history buffs. Second time this week for us. I’d suggest you get there early as they sell out fast on most items.
