Lovely carvery, staff are fantastic, very friendly. Watched as a young waitress loaded an older lady in a wheelchairs plate for her. So nice to see how they happily go above and beyond for customers. Food really is amazing. Well worth it.

We held our 50th wedding anniversary there on Saturday 21st September lunch time, we had a private carvery for 20+ friends and relatives, I cannot praise them enough, the food was excellent and plentiful, the room was laid out to perfection, I would like to thank the girls, the chef and all the management for making it a good enjoyable event

Booked for a family meal The staff were amazing and food was nice but sadly the sea food basket whichl 3 of us ordered was literally a a handful of salad small bowl of chips frozen seafood party snacks which didn't even have slaw scampy and tempura prawns as described on the menu (chef needs a word ) I had to then ask for tempura prawns once food was served definitely not worth... £23.50 .....they need to change this dish as the description made it sound like it would be a basket of seafood not a few party snack on a plate with a bit of salad SHOCKING

These guys went above and beyond to find a table for us on what was an already busy day for them. The food was beautifully cooked and the service we received was top notch. We would just like to thank the team and we will be back. Keep up the great work!

A great place for Sunday carvery

Have Sunday carvery roast. Was so lovely and flavoursome the team are really friendly and the service was great. The cauliflower cheese is a bit stemy and hard but that's about the only bir I think needs improvement everything else was great

Really, really enjoyable food. Service was great. We definitely stayed longer than the staff wanted us too and we felt the looks and finger drumming. Unfortunately our table was super sticky and the ice cream that came with the pudding was not good. Which is such a shame when there is some really fantastic smaller icecream places locally that could supply them.

Come here for Sunday lunch, right at the end of the day ( 8 of us ) Staff are extremely friendly and amazing ! Carvary was unreal ! Like a really home cooked roast ! We WILL be back !

Fantastic! Lovely location with loads of parking. Sheltered undercover seating outside. Spacious and welcoming inside the restaurant. Dog friendly which is superb. Staff were absolutely wonderful, very friendly and polite which makes a massive difference. The carvery was one of the best we’ve had for ages! Everything was cooked to perfection. 10/10. Visited for a 50th wedding anniversary meal (carvery) for around 50 people, and will definitely be back for a Sunday lunch soon. The team couldn’t have been more attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. The bar had some great local drinks. The venue is clean, bright, and well decorated. Thank you!

The best roast dinner meals. Great choice in seating times and very helpful. I highly recommend this venue but advise booking ahead to avoid disappointment.

What can i say about wheal dreams big breakfast One word "fantastic" the homemade hogs pudding was beautiful with all Cornish produce bacon,eggs and sausages Plus the chefs homemade sourdough slice inspired me want to go home a make some of my own as it was so exceptional in it's flavour. This is by far one of if not the best breakfast I've ever had ( and I'm a fat man who likes a good breakfast so that's a big claim.) Well done wheal dreams keep up the good work we'll see you again soon. Good to see the top team back

Have previously had excellent carvery’s at Whealdream but have been twice since Sept 2023 and both times were very disappointing, they’ve even gotten rid of the proper desserts and replaced with these tiny pot things which weren’t great. Staff however, were friendly and it clean

It used to be very good at Whealdream, but I don't know what's happened, it's not any more. Friends and myself ate there this evening, and it was very poor. Food bland, and Luke warm or cold. There were 30 of us, and almost everyone was unhappy. Some spoke up but the majority didn't want to, because it was a birthday meal. Everyone said they wouldn't go back. Even the coffee was lukewarm. Only apologies we're offered.

Three of us went for my birthday meal this week ( 5th December ) Would take too long to go into detail but will NEVER return to this place. Few of the issues: bad service ( although young waiter did try his best ), no Christmas spirit ( no tree, decorations on table or fir lit! ), ceiling decos were nice however. No Christmas music or drinks until we asked for them after already ordering food and drinks. Steaks mixed up so all covered with the wrong condiments until mistake was realised ( bit late then ) Didn’t have the wine we wanted, all sold out apparently. Very tired lettuce leaves on my husband’s plate and his steak was way too salty. On a plus note 🤔Let me think…. Chips and mushrooms were lovely and my steak was nice ( mine they got correct! ) We visited this place last Feb and they had a few issues but NOTHING like this. Young, dark haired lady ( manageress ? ) not very helpful and did not offer to knock anything off the bill for us. We will find somewhere else in the future to spend our money, shame as it was my birthday meal and I do not eat out often.

Fantastic break away for my fiancé's birthday. Having known Neil for years after working for the Exeter Chiefs it gave us perfect opportunity to catch up and some well needed time away for my little family. The accommodation is beautiful. The hot tub is simply fantastic. The restaurant on site has a great selection of food and the team are lovely. Fantastic location, with tesco only 5 minutes away and porthleven and helston pretty much on the doorstep.

Very poor service...carvary food was cold with some veg items empty...also no sweets served...changed to pick your own from a honesty cabinet...certainly gone down hill since change of management...Will not go again

Wheal Dream was the best roast in the area at one time. Since it was sold recently, the entire former staff is gone and the food has suffered some. Last night my beef was nearly raw and the stuffing literally looked like soup. I wish them luck in their attempt to live up to the standards of the previous owners.

Great food, especially the carvery. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Outdoor games like football golf is a blast. Warm and cosy environment. Highly recommended to anyone. As someone that visits regularly, I will continue to do so.

We ambled up to Whealdream to book a Christmas meal out for twelve people in December. Whilst there we had a drink in the personable company of manager India and her co-worker Tim. Perusing the menu we decided to forgo the cooking and washing up at home; instead opting to eat out. I am quite fussy, but I have to say that we had the best steaks this side of the Tamar. Tender and cooked to perfection. Service from India and Tim was second to non. Everyone who came in was warmly grated and well looked after. Their Christmas menu is well thought out and very reasonably priced. We were so pleased as this establishment is within a ten minute walk from our house. It's now going to become our new local.

Visited on a Friday night for dinner and was extremely disappointed in the restrictive menu My partner and I can’t eat fish and are not vegetarian The only options were steak or a burger. The steaks did taste nice but I have never seen a steak so thin, you could practically see through it. This used to be my favourite restaurant but we won’t be returning until the menu options improve.

Stayed on site. Set on a golf course / foot golf. Very popular place on the Helston Road Went for the Sunday Carvery today after reading fantastic reviews. We were not disappointed. Very attentive service, despite being very busy. Food lovely, plenty of variety on offer for a very reasonable £16.95 The desert was extra, but we took ours away, mini peanut butter cheesecakes , scicillian lemon cheesecake, and a white chocolate and raspberry tart. All miniature 5 for £10 Divine definitely deserve 5 stars 🌟

We got there 20 min early so we waited at the bar area gone past time that book time 20 min after are time we went to are table Waiting for 30 min at are table no one took are order so we walk out it look like nice food wasn’t even busy need more staff

Lovely carvery but we had ordered 6 drinks to our table and they failed to be served, ended up cancelling the order as we had finished eating . And received no explanation for the failure of service even after politely asking what happened, which was very poor. Apart from that it seemed a very nice pub/restaurant.

We definitely recommend this restaurant! The location is stunning with lovely views, staff was very welcoming and accommodating, we arrived quite late to the restaurant but they still accommodated us for dinner and the food was 5star and so delicious! We will definitely be coming back! :)

Lovely restaurant just on the outskirt of Helston. Staff very friendly & good natured despite being extremely busy. Fantastic Sunday carvery, food fresh & not overcooked, really good choice of vegetables. Would highly recommend.

I haven’t scored the rooms as we weren’t staying but we stopped to play football golf and have some lunch. Football golf was a blast and the guy who served us was very friendly and a total gentleman. The food was exceptional and again fantastic service would 1000% return.

Went up with the wife for food, absolutely quiet waited 15 minutes and still had no one come over to take our drinks / food order and there was 3 people behind the bar just standing there. Went Maytree instead was in and out within an hour.uch better service

Food was as excellent as usual. Whether it was a bad day or the fact they were full, or if it was the size of our party I'm not sure but although we did feel let down at the time, all problems were solved and answered in a polite and professional manner by Emma. Will visit again without doubt.

This is one of the BEST restaurants we have been to. Some had the cranberry and bre sandwich and others had the CFH Breakfast. It was all amazing.

We used to go to Wheal dream as we only live locally. Sadly we will not be returning. It is clear that they’ve changed the chef. We used to love going there for breakfast and lunch and sometimes dinner as well Yesterday we went for breakfast again . We have been so disappointed. The large breakfast used to be amazing with lots of food , brown toasts, white toast and tasted amazing now we wouldn’t even call it a large one , more like a regular size . I asked for 3 runny eggs on top of it , my partner had the French toast with an egg and my son had a child breakfast in total 5 eggs came back extremely hard and the chef still sent them in those state . We told the waiter about it and he came back with 2 eggs only out of 5 (this time they were fine ) but by then we had finished our food . There was no more toasts like they used to do . Now it’s a slice of bread with a bit of salt on it . Wheal dream must have change their chefs as it was a very bad experience. We used to be able to taste the freshness of the food and the quality of it but the 3 breakfast were mediocre and definitely not worth the price of a large fry up . We used to recommend wheal dream to friends and family including to other people online . This will not happen again . Sorry wheal dream you now have lost some loyal local customers. We will send people elsewhere. Very disappointed with everything.

Literally cannot fault their carvary. Lush food and great atmosphere. The only let down would be there isn’t enough Gluten Free desert options. Other than that great service and friendly polite staff and team members.

Went to get a Sunday dinner takeaway 12-2, I can recommend this highly, I collected 5 roasts which were good. My only criticism would be that they don’t let dogs in if you want to eat in. They do however have a sheltered area outside where you can enjoy a meal with your dog. It would be a good idea if they we’re to provide an area inside for dogs as you don’t want to be eating outside with the wind and rain this time of year.

So worth a visit. The food is fantastic and the team are too. Thanks very much for a lovely meal

what a fabulous well run restaurant. Sunday carvery is excellent and always pefectty cooked. The team here are always on point, polite and smile. We book via email and this is one of the best Sunday carveries out there.

Very disappointing meal, both had pizza, one Margaretta, one meat feast.Although the topping on the MF was tasty the bases on both were rubbery and cardboard texture and margaretta topping chewy. Very expensive for what it was could have got a better one for £3 from tesco. Don't waste your money..... On the plus side service from our waitress Sarah was lovely.

I went with a group, and being December it was very busy. We had our starters promptly, then had to wait nearly an hour for our main course. When the main courses came. It wasnt qukte as described on the menu, i chose beef which came with Dauphinoise potatoes, instead they were over cooked roast potatoes, the dessert was supposed to come with a brittle they substitutdd thst with a wafer biscuit. So because of that, i cant give 5 stars. The meal was nice, but I presume with larger parties things can get hectic in the kitchen. Staff were pleasant. Great evening with friends

This is my favourite restaurant.I came yesterday for the Christmas meal .Although meal was tasty I had the beef, I did not like the way it was presented.The meal came in a mound on your plate All mixed up, I would have preferred the meat and veg separate.The creme sweet had all berries on it,not to my taste.I always have this sweet so disappointing creme brûlée.thank you .

Sunday carvery at Wheal Dream is a treat to be treasured. The selection of meats and vegetables are cooked to perfection, the service 1st class in a happy, friendly atmosphere. It is the best carvery in Cornwall.

We popped in without a booking as we were driving past at about 7pm on Saturday evening. The host was very welcoming and helpful. The meal was gorgeous in a very relaxing atmosphere. Lovely place.

Great food. Me and my wife love to visit here for a roast. Kids carvery is very expensive though. Grandsons carvery cost about £10 and he’s 5. A lot of money for a child who doesn’t eat much. No other kids meal option available either on a sunday

Just had the best roast dinner at the carvery at wheal dream. I always think home cooked roasts have the edge on restaurant roasts, but this was just like the best home cooked Sunday dinner, plentiful, sumptuous and full of flavour. Lovely friendly atmosphere, attentive staff and lovely owner. Well done to all.

Eaten many Sunday lunches here they are the best in the area, and I’m fussy about my roast dinner.

Called here as part of a private function so cannot comment on the quality and service of a "sit down meal" However there was a good buffet provided and the bar carries a wide range of drinks. Unfortunately the buffet lacked any labelling to indicate which food was vegetarian etc. Plenty of car parking space.

Stayed at Wheal Jewel for 5 nights. The lodge itself is small and cosy with heating, a wood fired hot tub and a lovely garden with hammock. Staff are amazing especially Mike who went above and beyond for us. The kids loved the little play area, football net and foot golf. As we struggled to find halal food, the staff at Wheal Dream offered to cook fish and chips in vegetable oil and the batter was not beer battered. They also made a gluten free fish batter for my wife. Overall a fantastic break, would definitely return when we next visit Cornwall
