Had a lovely evening meal here (not sure why it says temporarily closed as was definitely open in August 24). High quality food, fast and friendly service, will definitely come back.

We chose this restaurant based on good reviews so expected the food to be nice but we were blown away by the food, staff and the restaurant itself. We had a carvery and the meat portion was very generous potatoes and veg was fresh and hot. Desserts were presented beautifully. Highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again on our next trip to Cornwall.

We have heard lots of people recommending WD and this was our first visit. The car park is a free for all, and needs some structure to ensure considerate parking for all. We arrived at Reception and a girl behind it didn’t greet us, but we were greeted by someone appearing out of the restaurant. We were quickly seated. We had our drinks order taken, and after 5 minutes wait were told we could go through to the carvery. Good selection of meats and veg - the parsnips and roast potatoes were put in the same serving dish which put our Autistic child off choosing potatoes (if you are an ASD parent you know different foods touching isn’t accepted). The meal was great, nothing mushy or under/overcooked. They did forget our drinks order but we were comped the child’s soft drink as an apology. If we had to return I think we would choose a quieter time ( I appreciate we were booked bang mid lunch service on a Sunday) as we felt it to be loud and echoing,, but maybe other dining area may have been better. It was a decent meal in pleasant surroundings but nothing was stand out to make it ‘we must go back’.

Couldn't fault our Sunday lunch here today. Fabulous food - a great choice of meats and vegetables served with the most delicious gravy. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic! Lovely location with loads of parking. Sheltered undercover seating outside. Spacious and welcoming inside the restaurant. Dog friendly which is superb. Staff were absolutely wonderful, very friendly and polite which makes a massive difference. The carvery was one of the best we’ve had for ages! Everything was cooked to perfection. 10/10. Our first visit back to Wheal Dream after the return of the original owners. The lovely staff were welcoming and friendly, absolutely on point. My other half had the steak flat bread and I had the Catch of the day basket, which I can only describe as a fried version of fruits-de-mer. Portions were generous!! Steak was beautifully cooked as were the squid and tempura king prawns, which is a great indicator of the standard of the kitchen. The signature batter on the fish goujons was amazing and I will be ordering fish and chips next time I visit. So impressed I have booked my significant’ birthday celebration in August with this amazing venue xxx

Always a warm welcome from Barry and Naomi, so good to see them back at the helm, and even though they’re on there opening menu it’s still outranks most other restaurants with brilliant food at good value prices. Well done guys, can’t wait to return soon.

We stayed in Rose Lodge, such lovely facilities, location, our boys loved the hot tub 🔥 and football ⚽ golf ⛳ was great family fun, we'll definitely be looking to come back, Neil is so friendly and helpful, a big thank you 😊

Carvery vegetable selection was great, beef tough but pork and turkey lovely, no stuffing. Took such a long time to ask for dessert menu which was very limited as hardly any staff, the staff that were there were rushed off their feet as not enough of them, ages for the order to be taken and then as we were finishing the waitress told us they needed the table…no time for a coffee ! Restaurant was cold. Not sure we’ll bother again as this place has seemingly gone downhill.

Booked by phone as a group of 4 for 5:45, unaware that the carvery stopped serving at 6pm. This should have been said on the phone. After heading up for the carvery, it was condensed on the end and not in individual sections like normal. All the meat was on 1 tray (CROSS CONTAMINATION). Potatoes were hard (not crispy), carrots were dry, Yorkshire puddings cold and the gravy mildly warm. There were no parsnips or stuffing left either. We were still made to pay the £16pp for the carvery after complaining to the waitress that the food was cold and the food was inadequate, despite their not being a full carvery provided. Later a family of 3 come in who haven’t booked. They requested a carvery. After over hearing their conversation with a waitress, due to there not being any yorkshires or stuffing left, their food bill was reduced to £8pp!! Their food was reheated before being separately served to their table with additional peas to make up for lack of veg. We were all hugely disappointed with our carvery and the lack of care shown by staff after complaining that the food was well below standard. At a minimum the food should be hot . Hopefully you take this on board for other customers as we will not be returning.

Arranged my celebration here for last night. Over 30 of us. Always difficult for somewhere to cater for this many but staff were amazing and catered to our every need including my special dietary needs due to medical condition. There were a couple of food mistakes but these were rectified quickly and efficiently. I would defo go again.

We were staying nearby in Porthleven and fancied a Sunday roast so, after checking Tripadvisor, we booked a table here. I’ve had many carveries over the years, too many of which have been mediocre and disappointing, but the quality of the food here was tiptop and such a massive surprise. With a choice of three succulent meats to choose from, I felt spoiled for choice but finally opted for beef and pork whilst my friend just had pork. We were both given three large, thick slices of perfectly cooked meat that was buttery soft and I can truthfully say that I’ve never had such a large amount of meat at a carvery. The meat was complemented by a fabulous choice of veg, all of which was fresh and not overcooked. The odd-sized Yorkshire puds were home-cooked too which, sadly, seems to be a rarity at carveries these days. This is easily one of the best carveries I’ve ever had and, at £15.95, excellent value. We couldn’t resist a dessert but, shamefully, our eyes were bigger than our tummies and neither of us managed to finish. All in all, this is a smashing place; staff were welcoming, service was perfect and there was a lovely atmosphere. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and there was not a single negative.

I’ve been to Whealdream before and not been disappointed! Carvery is spot on, with a brilliant choice of desserts, all served by lovely friendly staff! We had the CFH burgers with smoked bacon, brioche bun, house fries and salad. Highly recommend!

First time we have been since the Food Hub took over and we were not disappointed. Yes, the menu is limited but what they do serve they do well. The burgers and fish and chips were great! Probably the best burgers we have had before. Well done!

Used to be the best carvery around, now it was terrible! All the food had a horrible Smokey burnt taste! And who doesn’t sell hot desserts in autumn? No sticky toffee pudding? Just mini desserts in a fridge? More like a money making scheme! Gonna have to find somewhere else for roast now!

Heard it had changed hands. One girl doing the best she could. Overcooked food. Not asked if we wanted dessert or drink. After about an hour we managed to see the poor girl working and ask for hot drinks. Also minor detail each table had flowers but they had been there a long time the water in the vases was discoloured and beginning to look slimy ugh! So many good places to eat around will not bother going there again.

This Inn is brilliant for Sunday lunch. My husband and I booked late for a carvery lunch for 1st October, but they accommodated us. The service was prompt and staff were very friendly and efficient. The portion size was very generous, delicious and good value for money. We shall be be definitely coming back again.

I'd heard good things about this place so decided to take my mum there for lunch. The food was amazing. I went for plain old ham, egg & chips & it was far from plain! Lovely plate of food. My mum went for the seabass & said it was the best meal out she'd ever had. Mum's 80 & has had lots of meals out so that's very high praise. The chocolate parfait dessert was as good. The impression I get is that the food is prepared by someone with a genuine love of making good food & also making it look fantastic. Highly recommended.

Really excellent restaurant, I can’t fault it! It was recommended to me by the reception staff at a local hotel when the hotel restaurant was busy; I will be sure to thank them! The restaurant is easy to find, with plenty of parking. It’s nicely decorated, has good Wi-Fi, the staff are attentive and friendly but give you space, there’s a good menu and the food was absolutely delicious. I had some of the best arancini balls I’ve had in a long time for starter and the grilled halloumi for main was so tasty and a good portion size. I couldn’t fit dessert in sadly. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m down here for work!

The food is always amazing, the choice of dishes are plentiful and the staff are friends and professional. We always choose The Wheal Dream and every time leave with full happy bellies; of course the bottle of wine with the Friday Grill for two helps. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Simply the best meal out that I've ever had. Delicious mushroom starter and fish stew main followed by a chocolate torte which I consider the best desert I've ever eaten. "As a large group we came on a Thursday lunchtime for our "Christmas" meal (it was January). Wheal dream had loads of chances to get it right so how did they do? The initial greeting was great. Where to hang costs, where the loos where and where to go explained concisely, but in a very friendly manner. That was to be the theme throughout, very friendly staff.Drinks were available from a bar and the main course was delicious. There was no stinting on the meat (as some carvery establishments do) and the selection of vegetables was appetising and cooked to perfection.Sweets were all of a very high quality - not overly generous in proportions but totally adequate and exceptionally well presented.The room was well decorated, the staff discretely observant and helpful and the prices were very reasonable. I will certainly be coming back."

Decided to go for a Saturday night meal with my family. Got there and were greeted by polite friendly staff who were extremely attentive during our entire meal. We usually go for the amazing carvery on sundays but after our meal tonight will be definitely coming back for evening meals. We had to stop the kids licking their plates clean when they had finished their main course but didn’t have the heart to stop them after the puds. Cannot recommend this place enough. Never had a bad meal. And to top it off a fab pint of Guinness too.
