Overcrowded! What’s the point of tickets booking when you can’t make a step inside. This ain’t Disneyland, this is a church. No way one can enjoy this visit. Britain, you should treat your monuments differently… the audioguide provides little historical background about the place. It’s like the script of cheap TV documentary

We were in London in the summer of 2024 and got tickets for Westminster Abbey at short notice. Very impressive cathedral! You should plan plenty of time to discover everything. You have to plan on waiting, especially to see the famous graves. And be sure to book tickets online beforehand, as it is very, very full.

Went for the organ recital. Be sure to start queuing early, we were there maybe 40 minutes before the start. They only started admitting people inside like maybe 10 minutes before the start of the recital. The line was huge, felt like many people didn't get to get in, many were still being seated as the first piece was performed. But the organs sound amazing and it was a great experience.

A Church of England cathedral that is part of the World Heritage Site "Westminster Abbey, including the Palace of Westminster and St. Margaret's Church." The admission fee seems quite high, but it's definitely worth seeing. The price includes an audio guide, and the self-guided full tour takes approximately 35 minutes and is available in Japanese. It’s an amazing experience seeing all the details that efforts have been put in is spectacular. Min 2 hours to see everything. Look at the different patterns on the windows and the stories, look at each column and follow them up to the ceiling. On the ceiling look at where the arches meet they are all different finishes and patterns. The monuments are wonderful. Buy the skip the skip-the-line tickets otherwise, you will need to wait for 1-2 hour minimum.

It's adjacent to Big Ben at Westminster Abbey, where various kings and queens rest, so it's good to see Big Ben after the tour. You can enter through the London Pass (or Go City Explorer Pass), and a paper ticket will be issued when you present the QR code at the ticket office. Beautiful, of course. But we still had the impression that they create their own waiting times. While most people simply have to wait in line for a long time, some people are simply let in straight away. It was very unclear to us why and it seemed like pure randomness. You can enter the Abbey for free during religious services, from the west door. Close to the structure in the photo. For example, during the 10am service on Sunday morning, it is a good idea to arrive at the entrance around 9.30am, where shortly after, the staff starts to let people in, after a very quick bag check. Inside, other staff indicate where to sit and allow you to scan a QR code to follow the function via your mobile phone. It is forbidden to take photos or videos. The service is very beautiful, with the choir accompanied by the organ. The 10am one is quick, about half an hour. At the end you exit, passing through the garden and you can't stop for long. However you sit right in the central nave where you usually see the royals.

We went on tour last summer. This time, I visited at 5:30 to enjoy the organ recital. The (summer) tour had a very long audio guide and content that even children could understand, so I enjoyed listening to the story of Anne and Henry VIII. The kids liked it even more after reading the story about Queen Elizabeth I. If you purchase tickets in advance, you can enter without waiting. (Winter) For the organ performance, I arrived at Saint-James Station around 5 o'clock, walked for about 5 minutes, and stood in a long line. There were enough seats inside so everyone was able to sit and enjoy it. The performance lasted for about 30 minutes, and the combination of the magnificent interior of the temple and the darkness of the evening was very beautiful. It's a free performance, so if you're nearby, I recommend stopping by. Small children may get bored. Photography is strictly prohibited.

The famous Westminster Abbey was originally a small fishermen's shrine dedicated to St Peter. It was built following a vow by Edward the Confessor, who had vowed to pilgrimage to Rome if he were crowned king. Not being able to keep his vow, he asked the Pope for a dispensation who granted it in exchange for the construction of the Abbey. It was built in the 13th century in Gothic style. With two exceptions all the kings and queens of England have been crowned here.

Today at St Margaret's, Westminster Abbey, we gathered as one in the warmth of communal prayer. Beneath the timeless arches, our voices rose in unison, a hymn of hope and gratitude. The air was alive with reverence, the spirit of togetherness binding us as we prayed for the world to be healed, for kindness to flourish, and for peace to reign in every heart. It felt as though God Himself leaned in to listen, His presence palpable in the glow of flickering candles and the sincerity of our words. Today, we were reminded that even amidst life’s trials, faith remains our guiding light. Together, we sowed seeds of hope, believing that, with love and compassion, a better world is not only possible but inevitable. #StMargaretsWestminster #FaithInAction #PrayersForTheWorld #HopeAndUnity #GodIsWithUs #PeaceAndLove

STUNNING ABBEY, HISTORICAL LANDMARK ENGULFING A ROTTEN CORE From the £27 per person pricing during a cost of living crisis, to the one way system inside and just the way you're treated. Also they do say you can go there to pray but I found that you are not free to pray at anytime but must follow a scheduled prayer. Its shocking how much of a money grab this place is, I feel they need reminding this is a place of worship. Mind you do you expect less from an institution where the highest members of the clergy feel the need to cover up cases of abuse including that of children? The corrupt morales seem to bleed through to the staff at the abbey too. I saw one of the guys collecting headphones talked about how he kicked the cable at someone who dropped it and said "pick it up". Same bloke was chucking the headphones on the floor with his colleagues laughing with him. It's an obvious money grab from tourist. I still fail to understand why the entry fee is soo high (and up to extent why at all there is one) during a cost of living crisis? Surely if you gave a single care you would want to be doing the christian thing and call people into the Abbey for free so that they can appreciate the beauty, pray at anytime they deem suitable and seek refuge from the stress of their daily life. I wonder how much time, effort and money was spent on hiding the cases of abuse which should have never been covered in the first place. Despite living in London my whole life I never visited the abbey and I can say I regretted coming here. Not because the abbey was poorly maintained or so but rather the beauty is only superficial. The church and the people working the abbey simply put could not care less about you. Truly a shame.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most historically and culturally significant religious buildings in London, England. It is located in the center of Westminster, adjacent to the British Parliament and Big Ben. This magnificent Gothic church has been an important religious and national ceremony site in England since the 11th century, witnessing more than a thousand years of history. As the venue for the coronation of the British monarch and royal weddings, Westminster Abbey symbolizes the tradition and continuity of the British monarchy. Since 1066, the coronation of almost every British monarch has been held here, including the current monarch, Charles III. In addition, it is also the venue for the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, attracting global attention. The interior of the church is beautifully carved and has a solemn atmosphere. It has many historical and cultural relics, including the tombs of many kings, celebrities and literary giants of the past, such as Newton, Darwin, and the poets Shakespeare and Dickens commemorated in Poets’ Corner. Whether it is for its architectural beauty, historical value, or profound religious and cultural significance, Westminster Abbey is worth a visit. Visitors here can feel the shock of the intersection of time and space, and gain an in-depth understanding of British history and tradition.

We visited Westminster Abbey with high expectations, given its reputation as one of London’s most iconic landmarks. While there’s no denying the historical significance of this place, we left feeling a bit underwhelmed. There’s certainly a lot to take in — the Poet's Corner is home to the tombs of famous writers like Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer, and William Shakespeare. We were impressed by the Coronation Chair, where every British monarch since 1308 has been crowned. It was one of the highlights of our visit, sitting in the same chair that has witnessed centuries of British history. It’s fascinating, but we couldn’t help but feel that it would’ve been more impactful if we could have had a closer look without the ropes and crowds blocking the view. The Tomb of the Unknown Warrior was poignant, as was the Royal Tombs section, which includes graves of monarchs like Henry VII and Elizabeth I. We also checked out the Quire and the Chapter House, both of which are beautiful examples of medieval architecture. The Lady Chapel, with its stunning stained glass windows, is another highlight. And of course, there’s the Henry VII Chapel, which houses some of the most elaborate royal tombs. But despite all this, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The sheer size of the Abbey was impressive, but it felt a little crowded and rushed, especially with the entry fee being fairly steep. Many of the tombs and exhibits are behind ropes or tucked away in corners, making it hard to truly appreciate them up close. And despite all the grandeur, it was hard not to feel like we were just ticking off a checklist of royal and literary figures. To add to the frustration, we were constantly being told by staff not to record videos — for reasons we still don’t fully understand. The staff were also a bit too eager in shooing us away, especially when we were trying to appreciate the exhibits at our own pace. At one point, there were so many people crammed into tight halls and tomb areas, it felt more like we were in a tourist stampede than a place of reflection. The audio guide was helpful, but overall, the experience felt somewhat impersonal. For all the historical treasures inside, the Abbey didn’t offer the immersive or emotional connection we hoped for. The crowded nature of the place and the restrictive atmosphere made it hard to really soak in the significance of the site. For history buffs, Westminster Abbey is definitely worth visiting, but for us, it didn’t quite match the awe we expected from such a legendary site. It’s a fascinating place, but we left feeling like we were more in a tourist attraction than a grand historical monument.

### Westminster Abbey: A Detailed Review Westminster Abbey, located in the heart of London, is an iconic Gothic church with a rich history dating back to the 10th century. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands as a testament to the architectural, cultural, and historical heritage of the United Kingdom. The abbey has served as the coronation site for English and later British monarchs since 1066, making it a symbol of continuity and national identity. Architecturally, the abbey is a masterpiece of Gothic design. Its intricate stonework, soaring arches, and magnificent stained-glass windows leave visitors in awe. The nave, with its towering height, creates a sense of reverence and grandeur. The Lady Chapel, commissioned by Henry VII, is particularly stunning with its delicate fan-vaulted ceiling and vibrant windows. The exterior is equally impressive, with intricate carvings and statues adorning its façade. Westminster Abbey is also a place of remembrance, hosting the tombs and memorials of over 3,000 notable figures, including monarchs, poets, scientists, and statesmen. Poet’s Corner is a must-visit area within the abbey, honoring literary greats like Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, and William Shakespeare. The tomb of the Unknown Warrior, a poignant tribute to soldiers who died in World War I, adds a layer of solemnity to the abbey's atmosphere. The abbey is not merely a historic monument but also an active place of worship. Daily services, including Evensong, provide an opportunity to experience its spiritual significance. Special ceremonies like royal weddings and funerals draw global attention, showcasing its central role in British culture. A visit to Westminster Abbey offers a blend of history, art, and spirituality. Guided tours, often led by knowledgeable vergers, provide fascinating insights into its 1,000-year history. The abbey shop offers unique souvenirs, while the café provides a quiet spot to reflect after exploring. However, its popularity means the abbey can be crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. Ticket prices, while reflective of its significance, may seem steep for budget travelers. Despite these minor drawbacks, Westminster Abbey remains a must-visit for anyone exploring London, offering a window into Britain’s illustrious past and a serene escape from the bustling city. ### Final Verdict Westminster Abbey is not just a landmark but a journey through time. Its architectural splendor, historical significance, and enduring cultural relevance make it an unforgettable experience.

A magnificent place that you cannot miss if you go to London: for its history with the British crown and a UNESCO world heritage site since 1987. It is incredible externally and internally, a jewel that you must visit. The visit is essential, due to its beauty and content. The audio guide is very interesting, I recommend it for a more enriching and instructive experience. The interior fascinates, although it is one of the relatively narrow churches (about 10 meters) it is very high: 31 meters. I don't remember the price well, we bought them ahead of time online, but I think adults paid about €25 and my children €10 each, what I do know is true is that children under 5 years old enter for free. The hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. last entry. The real name of the abbey is the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter. There are more than 3,000 famous people buried: kings of England and Scotland and even famous people such as: Charles Darwin, Ben Jonson, Isaac Newton, Lawrence Olivier... And the Unknown Soldier! Since William the Conqueror, all English kings have been crowned in Westmister, except Edward V and VIII. Keep in mind that it is better to go early because both the Abbey and the area are crowded, Big Ben, London Eye, Thames are close... Getting to the place is not difficult at all: by Subway (subway) or Bus, both They leave you at the foot of the Abbey. In our case, once we visited the Abbey, at night we took a bus and stood on top of it, it was incredible, seeing this jewel along with the other monuments illuminated at night and surrounding Westminster at night we loved it, it was worth the trip. worth visiting twice :). With everything I have explained to you, it goes without saying that whenever I get close to London I will visit the entire Abbey again, but this time to contemplate without the audio guide. Dedicated to Xevi, my favorite Gironí 🙃

A very historic ground and a must for anyone interested in history. We were very excited and even our son moved through the abbey independently with the audio guide. You would actually need food, drink and a sleeping bag to see everything that is on offer. A beautiful experience that is worth queuing for

Spectacular, especially considering its age. Been to so many Euro cathedrals and churches, this one'truly is in a class by itself -- as it doubles as a vast cemetery. Where elae are so many histotic figures buried in such a small area?

Walked in for a quick lunch - got offered delicious Lebanese food prepared by a lovely family. They are using fresh ingredients and presentation is simple, yet the taste is mind blowing. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine and are around, visit this place. It’s basic but very tasty.

Very friendly waiting staff Alain and Harry, lovely food with a great price for the three course meal. We were sat outside with a great view but it was nice and warm under the heat lamps, would definitely like to come again
