I recently stayed at Canopy while searching for long-term accommodation in London due to a work relocation from Shanghai. This hotel is incredibly pet-friendly, and I had a wonderful month there with my cat and dog. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to DLR, Elizabeth Line, and Central Line. Nearby, you can find Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op, as well as numerous Chinese supermarkets and restaurants. What stood out the most was the friendliness of ALL STAFF. I would like to extend special thanks to the front desk team, the housekeeping staff, and the Guest Relationship Manager, Devika, for their assistance throughout my stay. They not only provided me with recommendations for suitable rental areas but also frequently checked on my pets. They prepared pet bowls, treats, and a cozy bed for them, and adjusted the housekeeping schedule to accommodate my pets.❤️ Without a doubt, my month here has set a positive tone for my life in London. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for those traveling with pets, as it truly is a pet-friendly haven.🐱🐶:)

This is a great location and a great hotel. The rooms (queen bed) had low and small sink and the rooms were comfortable but didn’t have any water which was surprising. Overall great place but has some quirks. Service was outstanding!

A very comfortable hotel, a nice surprise from the beginning, I received a room of a better standard and a bar voucher for a Hilton Honors guest, a modern hotel and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect location for business trips, walking distance to the City in a few minutes. Mrs. Magdalena at the reception serves guests with a smile. I have stayed in other Hilton hotels before, but now in Canopy.

Stayed a second time, two years after first. Despite unforeseen issues with cooling and power, the staff excelled at responding to our challenges several times, always in a gracious and resident-first manner. Breakfast is particularly outstanding, this time getting to know the very genuine Rob, who we enjoyed greatly. Management took ownership of our issues and did a great job responding and making us feel like they really care. My wife and I are both in service-oriented careers and the service here is so very good. We will return again when we are back in London.

Canopy London City - Great Effort, Mixed Experience, Amazing Breakfast! If hotel stays were graded like school reports, Canopy London City would get an A for effort and a C to A for achievement during our unexpected three-night stay (thanks to the LHR fire). Our first room had cooling issues. The team responded quickly, sending the hotel manager and engineer to address the problem. They tried everything, even disabling the timer system, but it was still less than ideal. They provided a fan, which definitely helped. On the second morning, we were jolted awake by the emergency light — our floor had lost power. Once again, the staff acted swiftly and moved us to a new room. Thankfully, the rest of our stay was smooth and comfortable. Now, let’s talk about the breakfast. It’s an absolute bonus and worth every penny of the upsell. A fantastic variety of breakfast foods, juices, breads, fruits, and coffee. And if you’re there, make sure to say “hello” to Rob, who helps out at breakfast. He’s genuinely lovely, welcoming, and always quick with a smile and friendly greeting. Overall, the staff’s effort and hospitality made all the difference.

Modern hotel in a good location. Upon check-in, I purchased an upgrade to a junior suite. The room was good and relatively quiet. The rooftop bar isn't part of the hotel, and drinks must be paid for directly. Breakfast was okay. All hot dishes were cold. Even as a premium guest, you have to pay extra for an omelet. Impossible. The room wasn't cleaned on the first day. No apology or compensation. Strange reaction for Hilton... not recommendable so far

I booked a a room for the night before I arrived as I had an early morning meeting and was arriving at 5 am. I notified the hotel twice once when i booked and again before I flew. As i switched on my phone at Heathrow I was informed that I was being billed as a no show. Arrived at the hotel and took a while and that was fixed. The room was never serviced on the day even though I had paid for it. When i raised it twice - nothing was done. Tried to book a meeting room for 2 days later. Told I needed to send an email two days later after 2 emails I still not had a response from the hotel. In desperation I went back to reception, who contacted the event manager. The answer was "what is your budget for a meeting room for 5 for and hour". When i asked again what is the cost I was told Pound500. Had the meeting else where. The Gym equipment was not working. All in all a miserable stay.

Very friendly hotel in the heart of London. Canopy is located next to Aldgate Underground Station, providing easy access to St Pancras and central London. If you are planning to discover the Tower of London, the location is ideal (barely 10 minutes walk) Our room was spacious, clean and had a coffee machine/kettle and mini fridge. The overall decoration is really harmonious. The staff is very friendly (Dorima during our check-out). The evening of our arrival, we had dinner at the hotel's Italian restaurant, the service was fast and it was very good, especially the dessert (Amarena Rum Baba) We took advantage of the breakfast, it was complete, no complaints. Thank you again to everyone for your welcome.

Well-appointed room but extremely hot - the air con works fine but is triggered by movement so once you're asleep, prepare to bake. Front desk staff were stoic and robotic, not at all friendly and welcoming. Bar service was appalling - inattentive and unfriendly; staff too busy moaning amongst themselves to serve. At 2235 I tried to order a cocktail - apparently they only serve wine and beer after 2230. A heads-up would've been nice; false advertising isn't great.

Don’t believe the bad reviews on this place. My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights and 7 days…from the moment we checked in (which took all of 5 min) until the time we checked out the hotel staff were friendly, helpful, and worked to accommodate. The rooms have individual AC and heat systems (I saw several comments complaining about this) During our stay it was fairly cold outside and the heater sufficiently kept the room warm. The cleaning staff did a great job keeping the room tidy and refreshing used items. Lastly, we came back after a night out and one of the front desk staff linked us with THE BEST pizza spot that was open til 3am!! She is the real MVP…Thank you!!!!Recommending my friends and family stay here

If you are researching a place to stay in the Hilton network, please consider the following. During my week-long stay, I experienced rude/incompentent staff, a broken thermostat, sleepless nights, and a “lost” worker entering my room. Room: As an eco friendly hotel, they have thermostats that automatically shut off if no motion is detected. Every night, the thermostat would disable and leave the room extremely uncomfortable and hot. The Heat was so uncomfortable that we all(multiple rooms and parties all staying at the hotel) woke up night after night drenched in Sweat. I was told multiple compelling reasons why the staff could not assist. However, at no point were they helpful or understanding. Staff: Staff did not show any interest in helping resolve an issue with my stay. Overall, I found them unhelpful and obtuse. Every Interaction with the staff was underwhelming and uncomfortable. (Please note: this applies only to the front desk staff. The breakfast staff and restaurants/bars were lovely) Privacy and security: At one time, a staff member walked into our room while we were resting. The room had already been cleaned. I asked why they had entered(no knock), and they stated that he was checking if the room had been cleaned. At this point they had fully entered my room, without reason and could not answer why they were in my room. Summary Of all the locations I've stayed at as a diamond Hilton member, this one stands out in the worst way possible. Eventually, I moved to the Hampton by Hilton in Shoreditch and found every aspect of my stay to be superior. Transferring to another hotel was the only solution to my problems.

A hotel that ticks all the boxes! The rooms are clean and spacious and the bathroom is perfect. The bedding is great! The welcome was very warm as well as great attention in the room for our 7 year old, it was really adorable. A very beautiful lobby and bar area perfect for chilling out while sipping a good cocktail or a Guinness. There is also a terrace in front of the hotel and a rooftop on the 11th floor. This hotel is also very well connected. Located right next to a tube which takes you in 4 stops to St Pancras station and also right next to a bus terminus, so you have options. Perfect for a stay in London! And the opportunity to also discover the Shoreditch district and its street art and its many restaurants!

I stayed 4 nights on a business trip and the hotel and rooms are spacious and modern… however beware of BED BUGS. On the final morning of my stay, I woke up and my ankle was really itchy and felt like I had some sort of bug bite. 12 hours later I returned to my home country and my shoulder and abdomen were quite itchy. I noticed that I had some red bumps on my skin and thought maybe it was eczema from the cold London weather. It’s now been a few days and I believe the bumps are in fact from BED BUGS. It’s a shame as the hotel itself was nice, and is close to a tube station and tower hill. However, I’ll be avoiding this hotel next time. I see another recent review about a guest seeing a bed bug, so clearly this is an issue in the hotel. Also, it seems like some staff members are better trained than others. When I arrived to check in there was a girl standing at the reception desk so I walked up to check in and she just stood there… didn’t even say hello, and instead look at one of her co workers. Was not the best first impression when walking into the hotel.

Utterly disgusting staff who clearly have normalized low standards. After finding a bed bug in bed at 4am I was moved to a smaller room without a proper apology and was told this will be sorted asap. Having returned to the hotel at 7pm that night they still had not assigned a new room or had the decency to contact me to explain what are the next steps. When the manager finally arrived she explained she was waiting for results of pest control which confirmed there was a further bed bug but it was dead!!! They then wanted to consider what next steps in terms of compensation will be - i had asked for a full write up of what happened and how I will be compensated, when I decided to leave the hotel at 10pm due to no response from anyone the receptionist thought it would be appropriate to smile her way through the conversation and now over 24hrs since the incident no one has been in contact! Disgusting standards that clearly have been normalized- do not stay in this hotel!!!!!

Alessio, who managed our booking, ensured every detail was taken care of well in advance, making the entire process stress-free and tailored to our needs. It’s rare to find such attention to detail, and Alessio’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Dining at the hotel was a highlight of our trip. Chiro, the restaurant manager, ran the service with exceptional care and precision, creating a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. Amazing hotel. Love it from the moment we stepped in. The building is trendy and has this amazing vibe. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Our rooms looked great, beds were comfortable and the facilities in the room was perfect. Breakfast buffet was very good. We also enjoyed dinner which was very tasty. Hotel location is ideal ... a few minutes walk from DLR station (if you come from London City Airport) with Tube stations and busstation around the corner of the hotel. Tower bridge station is walkable from here. Will come back for sure :-)

We stayed in 3 rooms between 29 December and 03 January, The hotel is very clean, comfortable and feels good. The staff was very well-intentioned and professional and met all our needs immediately. Breakfast is very good, However, the location of the hotel is far from everywhere except Tower Bride, so it is annoying to spend every minute of precious time waiting for the bus or train during the holiday :) In short, the hotel is very good but the location is far away.

Very nice hotel, well located (direct metro to the station), close to tourist points of interest). The decoration is modern and bright, the rooms are very comfortable and cozy, the number of sockets is a real plus, the storage is sufficient. The shower rooms are well equipped and there is space for personal belongings. The breakfast buffet is varied, copious and offers quality products: full English breakfast, bagels and products to garnish them, pastries, bread, toast, jams, spread, honey, coffee machines with plenty of drinks available , teas, cereals and granola, fresh fruit, yogurts, porridge on request at no extra charge. Some dishes are extra: omelette, eggs Benedict/à la Royale/à la Florentine, advocado toast, buckwheat pancakes. This is the first time we have seen that pancakes are extra at the breakfast buffet, we were surprised but given the amount of choice it wasn't a big deal, there is plenty to eat. On the other hand, when we saw that these came out of an industrial plastic package that the cooks simply opened behind the hot food stand, that they were not made to order, we found this unworthy of this hotel, especially at the sticker price (£7.50). Making pancakes a la minute takes no longer than making an omelette. The staff is smiling and generally attentive. The common areas are very pleasant. The fitness area is very well equipped and in very good condition. Perhaps missing is a set of small 500g to 3kg dumbbells for lighter strengthening exercises. A few small defects do not allow us to give the hotel 5 stars because they should not exist in this type of hotel: - check-in too brief, you have to fish for information, particularly for breakfast times, - Reloading bathroom products to monitor, - The cleaning of the rooms is not done in detail: a fairly large quantity of dust fell on us, it had not been done for months... and it has not been done for our stay; lots of traces of limescale in the bathroom; stains on the carpet, - Breakfast is not always ready for opening time. Some members of staff lack professionalism in the room staff (use of smartphones, professional demands not concerning customers) but all are smiling. Silvio is the most professional, attentive and very attentive to the running of the buffet and its supplies. That's why 4 out of 5. These are details of course, but detail makes quality. We are no less delighted with our stay which we discovered because our usual hotel has been under complete renovation for 1 year. It’s a very nice hotel that we recommend. We will still have to consider the pros and cons to make a choice between the two during our next stay.

worst experience First, I received a refund after checking in at the hotel and checking out the same evening. With a total of 10 years of experience studying abroad in China and the United States, I travel with the same mindset as I would in a foreign country. Nevertheless, the reason I am writing a review is because I hope that many people will not feel bad about spending their money and time and have an enjoyable trip. 1. After checking in at 3pm, the room was too cold, so I requested AC repair before leaving. Upon returning, I received confirmation that it was working well and went out. 2. When I returned to the room at 9pm, it was very cold and I had to wait for about 20 minutes to adjust the temperature. The temperature in the hallway was warm enough to wear short sleeves, but the room was too cold even if I was wearing padding. 3. Request to see AC again. The first employee who visited told us to wait and said we can set it however we want, but the other employee said that he was new and didn't know much, and that he brought a ladder and looked at the FAN after 9 p.m. (Why did I pay for that time? (You should be listening and watching what they do, right?) Still, since it was the end of the year, we held back so as not to offend each other. Haha. And they kept telling me to wait.. Am I a customer..? 4. No matter how much we waited, unlike the set temperature, the temperature did not work properly even in the middle of summer, and the manager spoke in a pointing tone, saying that there was no problem with the room and that we were very cold. 5. We were already exhausted and the manager's attitude was really rude. When our friend went down and asked for a refund, he asked us if we were there when we left. I thought he was deceiving us so that it would have been less unfair if he didn't speak English. It's funny. As I was leaving after getting a refund, I asked a Chinese customer in Chinese. Is 24 degrees the maximum temperature in your room? I'm leaving because it's cold. I don't know much about one team because they only used the bar. I told them that it was true that the room had to be warm, and the other team said it was as warm as the hallway, and that their room was 28 degrees. The manager insisted until the end that it was not a broken air conditioner, but it was so cold and terrible that I would rather have slept in the hallway. As I was writing it, it suddenly became bothersome, so I thought about not writing it down. I hope people from my country don't come here while being bullied like this. I thought I might end up listening to them without being able to take any action on their insistence, so I wrote it quickly. I was unlucky and got the wrong room that day, and maybe I didn't meet the right staff, but I think there were a lot of problems with the staff's attitude and response. This is a great hotel! This was my first time to London and I was unsure which area of town to stay in. This property was perfect. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. We loved our double shower. The fitness center is clean and has nice equipment. The breakfast buffet has lots of variety. I was hooked on the English muffins and smoked mackerel. The Canopy restaurant has great food and drinks and good service. No need to go for afternoon tea anywhere else, because the tea service here is great. The rooftop bar has a great view and the bartenders perform art as they make your drinks. Public transportation is easily accessible from this property. We could see the Aldgate entrance from our room, and took the train one stop to the Tower of London. There is a bus stop in front of the property and several connections right next door. Two blocks away is the Aldgate East station. When we walked to the Aldgate East station we discovered an entire new neighborhood of ethnic restaurants that we will discover on our next visit.

Be careful they "FORGET" to return your deposit!!! Last month when I was there they forgot to return my deposit, I had to chase them twice to release my room deposit, on both occasions they've lied to me, told me to wait more.. in the end I made a charge back with my bank to recover my money. Today I told them specifically that I refuse to pay the room deposit after what happened last time, after paying for the breakfast for my stay I go back to my room and guess what... Without my consent they charged me the room deposit as a bonus. Stay away from this Hilton. They seem to do shady stuff like this.

I just experienced the most terrifying incident in my room. We moved to Hilton because we assumed as an International chain hotel it should be a safe place to stay. We booked the room for a weekend ( today is day 2) . Amount is fully paid . While checking in we informed the staff my husband will be leaving and coming back towards the end of the week. Last night while booking a cab for his airport pickup again we mentioned I will be staying here while he is away for few days. My husband left the room 4:30 AM on Monday morning, 5 AM the senior manager of the shift he let himself in my room without knocking!!! And when I screamed he left…. Then he said he assumed we have checked out ….. They never called our number or the room to check whether we have checked out , lets bot forget we have not checked out and amount is fully paid. We asked for their management to call he never called and only send me an email …. 7:40 I called and spoke to Mr. Tim Fights the manager, his explanations as below: - we assumed you checked out and since you have paid we wanted to make sure you are to refund your money… - I personally know “Christian” the guy who let himself in my room- he is a good man - we have a policy to check the rooms if we assumed guests have left / check out. To conclude if they assumed you checked out they just let themselves inside your room without any warning , knocking or calling the room. Reading the reviews noticed another guest face the same issue 3 weeks ago- I post the screenshot of their review… DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS!

Review#2 Following our previous stay where we encountered some very minor issues but received fantastic customer service we booked the hotel again for two nights in October 2024. This was our third stay at the Canopy Hilton and it was perfect. We received a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was wonderful, plenty of space and delightful decor. The room was very clean and the King size bed was super comfy. Breakfast at the hotel was great with plenty of choice on offer. The staff (from housekeeping, the restaurant and reception) were polite, helpful and very friendly. Overall we had a superb experience. We will always consider this hotel for trips to London as we can be sure of a high quality stay in a good location. It’s a nice hotel and close to two underground stations so easily accessible. EDIT#1 The hotel have gone out of their way to rectify all the issues we encountered and have explained how each of them have been remedied. This is the most exceptional customer service I have ever received from a hotel and I am super impressed. It’s definitely FIVE STARS from me. As I said previously, the issues encountered would not have stopped us from returning to the Canopy hotel but after this exceptional customer service I would now go out of my way to stay here. I wish all hotels could listen to their customers. Simply fantastic! Review #1 The staff were friendly but an issue did arise with the payment system during check-in and this distracted the staff members meaning we were not given a proper introduction to the hotel (i.e where the lifts were located, check out times, available facilities etc.) which other guest were receiving. When we arrived in the room there was a small stain on the duvet cover at the centre of the bed which wasn’t great but the cover had clearly been laundered (it was an old stain). Unfortunately, there was a very annoying and frequent sound in the room (like a mobile phone vibrating loudly on a surface) which I think was coming from the building pipe-works and which was very irritating when trying to sleep, it was present for the duration of our stay (two nights). Hoping for a bit of a lie-in, we set our alarm for 9am but we were awoken by doors repeatedly banging very loudly and furniture being dragged around before the alarm went off. I can only assume this was the staff cleaning other rooms. I really don’t think they were very considerate of the guests (doors could be secured to stop all the banging). Also, as per the room instructions, we left our two used towels hanging in the bathroom so we could reuse them and save on the use of water for laundering. However, the two towels were removed and replaced with a single towel which had a large hole in it. For a four star hotel these points were disappointing but let’s be honest, it could’ve been a lot worse. It wouldn’t stop me re-visiting the hotel. Overall the rooms are a good size with nice, modern decor and they are clean and well appointed.

This is my go-to hotel when I visit London. The hotel employees make it a great place to stay. Shout out to Conor, Raahman, and Georgia (and many others) for being helpful and welcoming. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. Also, they have the best breakfast for any hotel in London. I usually skip the hotel breakfast if I stay anywhere else. In addition, it's worth mentioning that the location is very convenient because it's close to Aldgate, Liverpool Street, and Tower Hill/Gateway stations.

Top tier selection here! The location is perfect, so close to multiple tube stations and bus stations. A few mins walk to the trendy Shoreditch area (we loved this area). The staff were all attentive and friendly, the rooms were spacious and beautifully styled and fitted out, the bed soooo comfy, and a great shower. The toilet was wall mounted and groaned & moaned like my mother in law for some weird reason, which was not good in the middle of the night, but that was the only small glitch. The breakfast was excellent, with a special shout out to the bacon, sausages and the creamy scrambled eggs, all of them just so so tasty. A fantastic selection for accomodation in London!

Terrible. I don’t recommend for long stays. I had a terrible experience staying here for 8nights. I do not recommend for long stays. Cleaning was never done efficiently, there was dust in the rooms multiple days and had to request for a redo. The cleaning people in the morning were rude, I asked for a simple request that they leave face towels in the bathroom, even though they left the towels, the immediate response/feedback was always defensive and unwelcome. I didn’t feel at home so I checked out early. I don’t expect to be treated exceptional from everyone but customer service is one of the reasons I pay for a good hotel. This was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel on vacation. Rooms were always dusty, poor customer service, am sure you can get a better hotel worth your money.

I took my mom on her dream trip to London and Paris back in April (late review!). The staff, specifically Georgia, made her trip special. Georgia called me a couple weeks prior to the trip to ask if there was any special occasion for the trip and we planned a few surprises for my mom to make it extra special. When I say “we,” I mean Georgia created those little special moments that my mom will remember for the rest of her life. She still talks about the letter that Georgia wrote and the little touches. The hotel is clean, all of the staff are friendly and go above and beyond. It’s in an amazing location and walking distance to many of the wonderful sites. We will be staying here again. Thank you, Georgia, for all of your help. My apologies for the late review but better late than never. We can’t wait to be back.

Gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location. Located just opposite Aldgate East Station and a short walk to Liverpool street station, this hotel is in a great spot for travelling in and out of Central London. The staff were super helpful and very friendly. The room was absolutely gorgeous and so spacious. We arrived much earlier than check in time but asked to keep our luggage there whilst we went around London, which they were more than happy to accommodate. It was my partners birthday so the lovely lady at reception gave us 2 free drinks vouchers to use at the bar which was a lovely touch! The only thing I will say is that when you order a drink from the bar, it can take quite a while to come out. We ordered 2 drinks which took about 20 minutes and other people who came in after us got their drinks first so that was quite frustrating. The room service was also lovely, although they give you a sheet to put on your door for room service in the morning, we completed ours but never received our breakfast so we ended up just calling for room service instead once we realised it wasn't coming. Whilst there may be a few small inconcenient things, I could not recommend this hotel enough and we will be coming back again!

Private club dedicated mainly to the Armed Forces located in central London. A sophisticated atmosphere, quality, courtesy, elegant furnishings with an antique flavor and friendly staff make this place a precious environment for members and their guests. There is also an internal courtyard where in summer you can stay outdoors eating and drinking with your guests or friends. The Club also has a wonderful library, with many volumes relating to military history. If you have the chance, stop by even just for a drink. Very easy access, as it is right in the center of London.

Nothing to write home about. The restaurant is very small and verging om dingy/ dark. Most of the lights were flickering constantly. That's fine if you're going for a 'hole in the wall, off beaten track' vibe, but if you're markering for fine french dining in EC, maybe change a light bulb occasionally. The restrooms were pretty dirty and their decor unloved for that level of restaurant. Food wise, the bread served with the meal was wholesale cheap stuff that you would expect to see at a Premier Inn, and the butter tasted weirdly off- ie like it had begun to ferment from being left unrefrigerated for too long. Serving salted butter might be a better choice for such instance. But again, for high- level French dining, fresh whipped butter and warm fresh bread is usually a nice addition to the meal. The main meal was certainly pleasant, fresh and well balanced. Starter was trout ceviche followed by cod. It lacked any real depth of flavour and seasoning. I would expect to have just as pleasant a fish meal in any upscale seaside pub- ie tasty and fresh but not sophisticated (but probably at half the price paid here). There was no wine pairing or recommendations by the waiters. The wine was again fairly underwhelming and the selection was rather limited (which is fine if curated well, but this wasn't the case). Waiting staff were prompt, professional and friendly. The restaurant is so tiny that you find yourself bumping into them on entry and exit, however. In summation, if you have plenty of disposable income and not much time to book a reservation in advance, then this will probably just about fit the bill, but it would be better value for money to get on the Eurostar and hit the nearest bistro when you get to the other side!
