worst experience First, I received a refund after checking in at the hotel and checking out the same evening. With a total of 10 years of experience studying abroad in China and the United States, I travel with the same mindset as I would in a foreign country. Nevertheless, the reason I am writing a review is because I hope that many people will not feel bad about spending their money and time and have an enjoyable trip. 1. After checking in at 3pm, the room was too cold, so I requested AC repair before leaving. Upon returning, I received confirmation that it was working well and went out. 2. When I returned to the room at 9pm, it was very cold and I had to wait for about 20 minutes to adjust the temperature. The temperature in the hallway was warm enough to wear short sleeves, but the room was too cold even if I was wearing padding. 3. Request to see AC again. The first employee who visited told us to wait and said we can set it however we want, but the other employee said that he was new and didn't know much, and that he brought a ladder and looked at the FAN after 9 p.m. (Why did I pay for that time? (You should be listening and watching what they do, right?) Still, since it was the end of the year, we held back so as not to offend each other. Haha. And they kept telling me to wait.. Am I a customer..? 4. No matter how much we waited, unlike the set temperature, the temperature did not work properly even in the middle of summer, and the manager spoke in a pointing tone, saying that there was no problem with the room and that we were very cold. 5. We were already exhausted and the manager's attitude was really rude. When our friend went down and asked for a refund, he asked us if we were there when we left. I thought he was deceiving us so that it would have been less unfair if he didn't speak English. It's funny. As I was leaving after getting a refund, I asked a Chinese customer in Chinese. Is 24 degrees the maximum temperature in your room? I'm leaving because it's cold. I don't know much about one team because they only used the bar. I told them that it was true that the room had to be warm, and the other team said it was as warm as the hallway, and that their room was 28 degrees. The manager insisted until the end that it was not a broken air conditioner, but it was so cold and terrible that I would rather have slept in the hallway. As I was writing it, it suddenly became bothersome, so I thought about not writing it down. I hope people from my country don't come here while being bullied like this. I thought I might end up listening to them without being able to take any action on their insistence, so I wrote it quickly. I was unlucky and got the wrong room that day, and maybe I didn't meet the right staff, but I think there were a lot of problems with the staff's attitude and response. It takes at least a 14-hour flight from Asia to the UK. I hope you choose a good hotel and enjoy London. Additionally, the employees don't want to work, so please rest at home... This is the first time I've been to a hotel that doesn't have information on basic information such as breakfast or welcome drinks. ^^ Payment has been received. Please work responsibly.

This is a great hotel! This was my first time to London and I was unsure which area of town to stay in. This property was perfect. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. We loved our double shower. The fitness center is clean and has nice equipment. The breakfast buffet has lots of variety. I was hooked on the English muffins and smoked mackerel. The Canopy restaurant has great food and drinks and good service. No need to go for afternoon tea anywhere else, because the tea service here is great. The rooftop bar has a great view and the bartenders perform art as they make your drinks. Public transportation is easily accessible from this property. We could see the Aldgate entrance from our room, and took the train one stop to the Tower of London. There is a bus stop in front of the property and several connections right next door. Two blocks away is the Aldgate East station. When we walked to the Aldgate East station we discovered an entire new neighborhood of ethnic restaurants that we will discover on our next visit.

Be careful they "FORGET" to return your deposit!!! Last month when I was there they forgot to return my deposit, I had to chase them twice to release my room deposit, on both occasions they've lied to me, told me to wait more.. in the end I made a charge back with my bank to recover my money. Today I told them specifically that I refuse to pay the room deposit after what happened last time, after paying for the breakfast for my stay I go back to my room and guess what... Without my consent they charged me the room deposit as a bonus. Stay away from this Hilton. They seem to do shady stuff like this.

Everything at the Canopy Hilton was perfect, but what truly made our experience memorable was the exceptional service. We had the pleasure of being served by Sergi twice during our stay, and both experiences were outstanding. He was incredibly attentive, ensuring that every detail of our dinner was perfect. His friendly and professional demeanor truly stood out. Additionally, he speaks Spanish, which made us feel even more at home. By far, the best server at this hotel! Highly recommend! Everything at the Canopy Hilton was perfect, but what really made our experience unforgettable was the exceptional service. We had the pleasure of being served by Sergi on two occasions during our stay, and both experiences were outstanding. He was incredibly attentive, making sure every detail of our dinner was perfect. If you’re a coffee lover, be sure to stop by the hotel’s café, where Abdul serves up some of the best coffee in town—a perfect way to start the day or enjoy a relaxing afternoon break. The breakfast at Canopy by Hilton is not to be missed. The spread is impressive, offering a variety of delicious options that cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. The restaurant team deserves praise for their attentiveness and efficiency. We also had the chance to try the hotel’s pizza place, which was an absolute treat. Carla and Ciro from the restaurant provided top-notch service, making our dining experience enjoyable. The pizzas, crafted by the talented Chef Morro, were among the best we’ve had—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Overall, Canopy by Hilton, London City, is a fantastic hotel with all the amenities you could wish for, but it’s the team’s dedication to exceptional service that makes your stay truly memorable. I just experienced the most terrifying incident in my room. We moved to Hilton because we assumed as an International chain hotel it should be a safe place to stay. We booked the room for a weekend ( today is day 2) . Amount is fully paid . While checking in we informed the staff my husband will be leaving and coming back towards the end of the week. Last night while booking a cab for his airport pickup again we mentioned I will be staying here while he is away for few days. My husband left the room 4:30 AM on Monday morning, 5 AM the senior manager of the shift he let himself in my room without knocking!!! And when I screamed he left…. Then he said he assumed we have checked out ….. They never called our number or the room to check whether we have checked out , lets bot forget we have not checked out and amount is fully paid. We asked for their management to call he never called and only send me an email …. 7:40 I called and spoke to Mr. Tim Fights the manager, his explanations as below: - we assumed you checked out and since you have paid we wanted to make sure you are to refund your money… - I personally know “Christian” the guy who let himself in my room- he is a good man - we have a policy to check the rooms if we assumed guests have left / check out. To conclude if they assumed you checked out they just let themselves inside your room without any warning , knocking or calling the room. Reading the reviews noticed another guest face the same issue 3 weeks ago- I post the screenshot of their review… DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS!

Review#2 Following our previous stay where we encountered some very minor issues but received fantastic customer service we booked the hotel again for two nights in October 2024. This was our third stay at the Canopy Hilton and it was perfect. We received a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was wonderful, plenty of space and delightful decor. The room was very clean and the King size bed was super comfy. Breakfast at the hotel was great with plenty of choice on offer. The staff (from housekeeping, the restaurant and reception) were polite, helpful and very friendly. Overall we had a superb experience. We will always consider this hotel for trips to London as we can be sure of a high quality stay in a good location. It’s a nice hotel and close to two underground stations so easily accessible. EDIT#1 The hotel have gone out of their way to rectify all the issues we encountered and have explained how each of them have been remedied. This is the most exceptional customer service I have ever received from a hotel and I am super impressed. It’s definitely FIVE STARS from me. As I said previously, the issues encountered would not have stopped us from returning to the Canopy hotel but after this exceptional customer service I would now go out of my way to stay here. I wish all hotels could listen to their customers. Simply fantastic! Review #1 The staff were friendly but an issue did arise with the payment system during check-in and this distracted the staff members meaning we were not given a proper introduction to the hotel (i.e where the lifts were located, check out times, available facilities etc.) which other guest were receiving. When we arrived in the room there was a small stain on the duvet cover at the centre of the bed which wasn’t great but the cover had clearly been laundered (it was an old stain). Unfortunately, there was a very annoying and frequent sound in the room (like a mobile phone vibrating loudly on a surface) which I think was coming from the building pipe-works and which was very irritating when trying to sleep, it was present for the duration of our stay (two nights). Hoping for a bit of a lie-in, we set our alarm for 9am but we were awoken by doors repeatedly banging very loudly and furniture being dragged around before the alarm went off. I can only assume this was the staff cleaning other rooms. I really don’t think they were very considerate of the guests (doors could be secured to stop all the banging). Also, as per the room instructions, we left our two used towels hanging in the bathroom so we could reuse them and save on the use of water for laundering. However, the two towels were removed and replaced with a single towel which had a large hole in it. For a four star hotel these points were disappointing but let’s be honest, it could’ve been a lot worse. It wouldn’t stop me re-visiting the hotel. Overall the rooms are a good size with nice, modern decor and they are clean and well appointed.

If you are researching a place to stay in the Hilton network, please consider the following. During my week-long stay, I experienced rude/incompentent staff, a broken thermostat, sleepless nights, and a “lost” worker entering my room. Room: As an eco friendly hotel, they have thermostats that automatically shut off if no motion is detected. Every night, the thermostat would disable and leave the room extremely uncomfortable and hot. The Heat was so uncomfortable that we all(multiple rooms and parties all staying at the hotel) woke up night after night drenched in Sweat. I was told multiple compelling reasons why the staff could not assist. However, at no point were they helpful or understanding. Staff: Staff did not show any interest in helping resolve an issue with my stay. Overall, I found them unhelpful and obtuse. Every Interaction with the staff was underwhelming and uncomfortable. (Please note: this applies only to the front desk staff. The breakfast staff and restaurants/bars were lovely) Privacy and security: At one time, a staff member walked into our room while we were resting. The room had already been cleaned. I asked why they had entered(no knock), and they stated that he was checking if the room had been cleaned. At this point they had fully entered my room, without reason and could not answer why they were in my room. Summary Of all the locations I've stayed at as a diamond Hilton member, this one stands out in the worst way possible. Eventually, I moved to the Hampton by Hilton in Shoreditch and found every aspect of my stay to be superior. Transferring to another hotel was the only solution to my problems.

This is my go-to hotel when I visit London. The hotel employees make it a great place to stay. Shout out to Conor, Raahman, and Georgia (and many others) for being helpful and welcoming. The rooms are well designed and comfortable. Also, they have the best breakfast for any hotel in London. I usually skip the hotel breakfast if I stay anywhere else. In addition, it's worth mentioning that the location is very convenient because it's close to Aldgate, Liverpool Street, and Tower Hill/Gateway stations.

Top tier selection here! The location is perfect, so close to multiple tube stations and bus stations. A few mins walk to the trendy Shoreditch area (we loved this area). The staff were all attentive and friendly, the rooms were spacious and beautifully styled and fitted out, the bed soooo comfy, and a great shower. The toilet was wall mounted and groaned & moaned like my mother in law for some weird reason, which was not good in the middle of the night, but that was the only small glitch. The breakfast was excellent, with a special shout out to the bacon, sausages and the creamy scrambled eggs, all of them just so so tasty. A fantastic selection for accomodation in London!

I took my mom on her dream trip to London and Paris back in April (late review!). The staff, specifically Georgia, made her trip special. Georgia called me a couple weeks prior to the trip to ask if there was any special occasion for the trip and we planned a few surprises for my mom to make it extra special. When I say “we,” I mean Georgia created those little special moments that my mom will remember for the rest of her life. She still talks about the letter that Georgia wrote and the little touches. The hotel is clean, all of the staff are friendly and go above and beyond. It’s in an amazing location and walking distance to many of the wonderful sites. We will be staying here again. Thank you, Georgia, for all of your help. My apologies for the late review but better late than never. We can’t wait to be back.

Terrible. I don’t recommend for long stays. I had a terrible experience staying here for 8nights. I do not recommend for long stays. Cleaning was never done efficiently, there was dust in the rooms multiple days and had to request for a redo. The cleaning people in the morning were rude, I asked for a simple request that they leave face towels in the bathroom, even though they left the towels, the immediate response/feedback was always defensive and unwelcome. I didn’t feel at home so I checked out early. I don’t expect to be treated exceptional from everyone but customer service is one of the reasons I pay for a good hotel. This was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel on vacation. Rooms were always dusty, poor customer service, am sure you can get a better hotel worth your money.

Gorgeous hotel in a fantastic location. Located just opposite Aldgate East Station and a short walk to Liverpool street station, this hotel is in a great spot for travelling in and out of Central London. The staff were super helpful and very friendly. The room was absolutely gorgeous and so spacious. We arrived much earlier than check in time but asked to keep our luggage there whilst we went around London, which they were more than happy to accommodate. It was my partners birthday so the lovely lady at reception gave us 2 free drinks vouchers to use at the bar which was a lovely touch! The only thing I will say is that when you order a drink from the bar, it can take quite a while to come out. We ordered 2 drinks which took about 20 minutes and other people who came in after us got their drinks first so that was quite frustrating. The room service was also lovely, although they give you a sheet to put on your door for room service in the morning, we completed ours but never received our breakfast so we ended up just calling for room service instead once we realised it wasn't coming. Whilst there may be a few small inconcenient things, I could not recommend this hotel enough and we will be coming back again!

Really enjoyed my stay here. Very nice clean hotel in Central London right next to Aldgate Station. Nice restaurants and café located in the Hotel. The rooms are fairly large and nice beds with big comfy pillows. However, as others reviewers stated there is an issue with the AC in the rooms. It being motion activated doesn't stay on and wasn't very warm in London at the time, but my room warmed up quickly so it was annoying to come back to a very warm room each time I left.

While the hotel is lovely sadly our experience was not positive. We booked two adjoining rooms as a family of 5. Both rooms had no AC. They finally found us another set of rooms but not adjoining. They promised next day they would give us rooms to accommodate our number. During the night crammed in our rooms, AC went out again! Sadly next day they moved us to the same size rooms indicating there was confusion and rooms intended for us were given away!! So we had to share beds! In the span of two days we moved three rooms! They checked us in knowing full well no ACs were working in the allocated rooms. They had no record of our breakfast inclusion until we showed our booking. Super unfortunate management.

Great hotel with clean and stylish rooms and a modern solution to the drinking water "thing" in hotels - here you have not only the ice machine on the floor but also your water dispenser, so no more "just one bottle per night or even stay". The room layout was quite spacious, so spending several days there as a couple - no problem. The location couldn't be better as there are restaurants, pubs and cafes in the buzzing city of London and the tube is right next to the hotel.

Staff seemed very friendly. Only thing keeping it a low score is the lack of cleanliness. Found multiple hairs on bathroom counter and toilet seat, blood on pillow which was visible through the pillow case. Staff was very nice and gave me a new pillow, however I could not shake an icky feeling the rest of my trip. I really enjoyed how close it was to Tower city, and multiple bus and tram stations. It’s not to far from some of the other main attractions. About 30ish minutes to the London Eye and Westminster.

Very nice hotel, I'd recommend it. It's nearby a few must-see attractions such as the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge, but a bit far from the most known attractions like the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, etc.

Had a great experience at Canopy by Hilton London and so did the others in my party that gathered. From the extremely helpful door supervisor to the brand ambassadors and chef it made the visit an elevated experience. The atmosphere was right, the people centred approach was spot on and the vibe was great. My colleague from the US had to try the fish and chips and not only does she recommend it but this made her experience here in London complete. Special mentions to Piero, Eleanora, Walter and Alejandro- Highly recommended for formal or informal gatherings. Thanks all and see you again soon!

Location was ideal for both meetings in the financial district as well as a nice stroll to the London Tower. Staff was attentive and rooms were spacious for London standards. Plenty of selection for breakfast and complimentary bikes, water and of course umbrellas.

Stayed at the hotel on a short 1 week strip. Overall the place is really great! The rooms are spacious and well maintained with entry only possible with access card, making it safe. It is close to tube station and shares wall with a bus terminus. Also has multiple restaurants, bars and offices within walkable distance. The breakfast menu offered by the restaurant is great and other food options are good, may be a bit pricey. The hotel rates fluctuates drastically from 150£ to 300£ based on the season and demand, so you need to check for a while before booking to get the best value for money.

My colleague and I hosted a business lunch at Canopy and we were blown away by the service and support of Eleonora, Walter and their wider team. The food and drink offering was diverse and the fact that the hotel is designed to blend into the local community, welcoming locals from the area to sue their facilities is very powerful, and such an important shift. I will be back personally with groups in the future, so good was our experience.

We had an amazing stay at the Canopy. We enjoyed going to the lobby bar and restaurant, St. Clare! We were served by Carlos almost everyday of our stay and he truly provided us with EXCEPTIONAL service every single visit. The service is very good. The lobby is not very big but the decoration is very exquisite. I went on honeymoon with my partner and upgraded to a suite as a diamond card member. The experience was very good. The gifts prepared were more romantic than ordinary cakes. The surrounding buildings are relatively high, so the scenery is not very good. The area near Whitechapel is relatively dirty, but it is closer to the Tower Bridge in the south. There are not many types of suites. It is a more comfortable choice in a 4-star hotel. There is no swimming pool

I recently stayed at this hotel and completed a site visit, to see the venue in its full glory to offer this as an option for my clients moving forward for their events and celebrations. It didn’t disappoint, from the unique building structure, warm welcome in reception with excellent customer service, to the glorious décor and boho / retreat vibes! Wow what a hidden gem of a venue in the heart of London! It boosts 3 spaces to host meetings and functions and that roof top bar is incredible! Views of London skyline and beautifully decorated inside. Perfect spot for lunch / dinner or drinks with friends too. It has its own separate enterance. Alejandro was a superb host, telling me all about the history and chain of the hotel, being the first of its kind in the UK and passion for sustainability. We shared a love for food and travel, and he recommended some local tourist spots to visit, which were beautiful and only a 10-15 min walk from the hotel. St Dunston East Church being one of them - check it out! My room was, clean, modern, spacious and very comfortable, those pillows were dreamy and one of the best night sleeps ive had in a while! Thank you again for the hospitality Alejandro, and hotel tea. I look forward to working together in the future and returning.

I love this hotel and it has become my recurring hotel for my business trips to London. The staff is just amazing, everyone is smiling, helpful and sooo friendly. They do everything to make one feel at home. I was upgraded to one of their King Junior Suite and the view of the city's skyline from there is mindblowing. The lobby bar is the perfect place for a stylish drink before going out for dinner and the rooftop bar is spectacular. The rooms are spacious, modern and super comfy, offering pleanty of amenities: bluetooth speaker, miracast enabled screen, plenty of USB-charging outlets, spacious walk-in shower, coffee machine etc. There is also a fully equipped gym which I love to use. Not to forget the amazing breakfast buffet and à la carte menu.

I had been here a few years ago and loved this place, but unfortunately it seems it’s permanently closed? Their website is still live (July 2024), we tried to reserve by filling in a form on their site but got no response. Went their without reservation during stated opening hours. Not only was the restaurant closed but the signage had been removed from the exterior of the building.

Would just be careful because the bartenders try to avoid using alcohol to save money (i.e double drinks were coming out as singles). We had to ask to keep checking our drinks. Otherwise it's a nice place/venue.

Unfortunately, the cafe is very full at peak times, which doesn't make it very comfortable. This means the service takes a very long time. The food (2x English breakfast) was ok, ok to try, but wouldn't order it again as everything was a bit bland. It's better to share 1 portion if you just want to try breakfast and avoid rush hours.
