We visited the cafe on a wet Monday in November and were lucky to get a table and escape the rain. The cafe is only small and limited to 5 tables for 4 people each. What I found bizzare about the set up is the fact that the cafe manager seems to taken it upon themselves to make one of these tables their desk to work from. This meant that whilst we were there two sets of families of 4 came and went - choosing Sainsbury’s cafe instead and I can’t blame them. What was more surreal is that the manager was well aware of this and then appeared to joke with one table “you don’t care do you!” they all laughed. I can only take from it all that the cafe must be doing well for itself if the manager doesn’t feel the need to vacate her office and let them sit down? Can’t fault the lad behind the counter.

first time i have been will go again its a hidden gem had the breakfast and it was lovely and lovely views to look out onto and if nice weather can sit outside keep up the good work

I always feel like it’s a lottery discovering how good a cappuccino will be at a newly visited venue. A”best coffee in town” sign lured me in and I wasn’t disappointed. Stayed for two as I enjoyed the first so much. The choice of food on the board came as a complete surprise as from outside I expected the usual half empty selection of ices and poor tea and coffee but wasn’t I wrong. Lovely location to sit on a nice day either watching the playground or the bowling green. Next time I’m in town I’ll definitely return

I went into the cafe looking for their gorgeous vegetable soup and was enticed by the description of this dish. I was not disappointed! Absolutely delicious and great value at £6. I ended up ordering more to take for my Husband who loved it too.

I don't often review cafes but this one deserves the effort. Outstanding customer service, great breakfast, well thought out menu, relaxing vibe & great selection of music

Stopped here as a one off and had some lovely vegan food. The menu is great for everyone but as a vegan the choice, especially in a park cafe setting, is normally average. We had Beyond Meat Burger, smoked not salmon bagel and biscotti cake! Staff are so lovely too!

Fabulous breakfast and lovely pot of tea. The Lady was really bubbly and friendly. Just what I needed after dropping my husband off at the Spire for his operation.

A lovely place for a relaxing coffee, cake and bit of lunch. Nothing fancy however a good atmosphere watching the bowls. Staff are excellent, cheerful and cannot do enough for you. Been here 3 or 4 times now and the service has been good every time, even when it gets a bit busy.

Divine Saturday afternoon hot choc with treats in this remarkable little oasis. Often park/roadside cafes can lack personality, but not this one. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful (esp the divine Kass), and the quality is excellent. Highly recommended!

I popped by the café while taking the kids to the local park. It was a very upbeat and cheerful atmosphere and had a lovely chat with the staff while I waited for the drinks. Ordered a few hot chocolates and ice cream for the kids. It seemed very busy but was impressed with how quickly we got our order! Will definitely be going back (and hopefully try one of the cakes next time!)

I come here often for a drink after a walk. The service is always great and Kass is especially friendly. The hot drinks and biscuits are nice and are always made very quickly. I would definitely recommend.

...is better than a good day without, is what it says on the sign here. Well a good day is a great day when you visit this little café and choose the Lotus Biscoffi cheesecake with your coffee. Too sickly for some I'm sure but I am a big fan. I'd burned 650 calories walking so I probably broke even!So friendly here and as the sun was out it was nice to sit by the bowling green and get some much needed Vitamin D.

I often pop in here after going for a walk and I always expierence great service. The people who work there are very kind and the hot drinks are always great.

Nearing the end of a long walk and in need of cake. Warm welcome and the lady explained what was what. A choice of four cakes, the cake is good here and I'd had a delicious slice of apple tart on my last visit. Plumped for the banana cake with nuts and berries on top and a 'regular' latte.Sat watching the bowls in the sunshine. The seating is well positioned, the bowling was top drawer, the coffee was hot and the cake was splendid!'Happy days' in these COVID times.

Popped by one sunny lunchtime for a socially-distanced salad and coffee. All very good, in a cafe in a park sort of way

I was so pleased when they opened as it meant there was somewhere to have a quick lunch whilst taking the kids to the park. I have seen many events planned also but never been able to make it to any unfortunately. the food is always lovely and a large variety on the menu to choose from. Dogs are also welcomed which makes life a lot easier.

I've only really had coffee here, but I've had quite a few coffees since the cafe opened! It's not far from where I work and it's been really good to go there, ake a break and enjoy a lovely coffee overlooking the big green bowling green. Early on one of the owners explained the choice of coffee was deliberate - that they'd done research and Northern customers like strong but smooth coffee. It's not a case of instant in a cup and here you go - this is proper coffee, with all the barista-style variations on final presentation. This week 2 friends and I had a socially distanced catch up in the park and we enjoyed very good take away Flat Whites in cups that were totally biodegradable - even the lids - big thumbs up for that too!. They are well set up to serve safely, with a one-way system - in to order- lines on the floor to keep any queuing safe - then outside to pick up at a hatch - taking care of the staff to minimise contact with customers, and keeping customers safe too. The cakes look enticing and they also do cold drinks, ice creams and various meals. Definitely consider it if you're looking for coffee in nice surroundings!

With most places closed and some open only for advance orders, we became regulars here. No seats outside and obviously couldn't sit in but there are plenty around the bowling green and on the hot days it was a popular spot.Good coffee, nice and hot but the highlight was the Rhubarb Frangipane, an absolute treat. I made the mistake of choosing a slice of vegan cheesecake on one occasion, it looked great but the taste didn't match the look unfortunately. Friendly young staff, I do hope that people continue to support this place.

A group of 10 of us called in for breakfast based on a recommendation. We were very pleasantly surprised. Nothing was too much trouble. Considering the size of the kitchen the staff should be complimented on there ability to serve us. The food was hot, and tasty, coffee was excellent. We will be calling in again

Visited this cafe while hubby was having a minor op in hospital. Decided to have my lunch there. I was greeted by extremely pleasant and helpful staff one male one female. My food was really tasty and well presented . The fridge juices were really refreshing on such a hot day. If a few more people in this world were as happy and cheerful as they were, the world would be a better place. Definitely worth a visit. Thanks.

The food was delicious and nice refreshments and the chicken burger and fries was delicious and nice ice cream so the score I given is 150 out of 10 and can I have a receipt after the pay when I come in.

Called in with my grandson. I had coffee and tea cakes and my grandson had an ice cream. Difficult to judge on such a basic order, but coffee was nice and no issue with the rest.

Came in yesterday with my partner and kids. I was served by a young man with blonde hair but didn't get his name, really friendly and accommodating. We have visited a couple of times and always had a great experience. Can definitely recommend the cheese and tomato toasties- they are amazing! Overall, fab experience, hot and fresh food, great staff. Keep it up!

Three of us call here most weekends for bacon baps and sausage baps. They are always tasty and served with a smile. Very polite and friendly staff. Good coffee served in large cups. It has become a favourite dropping in place for us. Such a pity though (But not the cafes fault) that the council can't keep the loos clean and presentable.

I had been looking forward to eating here having heard so many good things - it was busy but the service was super slow. ate here last Sunday. I had tomato soup which I am sad to say was definitely from a tin with minimal bread. my daughter had a bacon burger which was inedible. Hubby ordered a toastie which came very black and burned! I asked for chips with the toastie was told not possible. Toastie came with a salad, questioned it was told we should have asked for chips (!!!) Sad to say as a regular user of West Park will not spend money eating here again or recommend.

This is a little cafe that I have walked past on many occasions. I should have popped in because it is outstanding. The food is freshly prepared and made with quality ingredients, try the bacon avocado burger. The coffee is excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended

With the cafes in town either closed or busy on a hot Sunday I decided to pop in here on my way home.There was a little table at the back overlooking the bowling green and it was peaceful spot to relax over coffee and cake, one of my favourite pastimes!The staff are young and courteous, the card machine wasn't working and they said I could just pay later. In the end I paid by cash to leave a tip, well deserved.The young lady brought the coffee out to me and the cake was served with a fork and napkin, a nice touch. I had the Banana Bread, absolutely delicious, moist with cranberries and seeds on top.It's so disappointing that the efforts of the staff are not rewarded with a higher rating on TA. How can anyone expect not to pay £2 for a cup of tea, council owned or otherwise. There are costs involved - it's not just a case of hot water, cheap tea bag in chipped mug on your front doorstep Jamy. £6 for a Full English - why wouldn't you?

fist time visitor despite living locally. Food was fine if not outstanding and staff couldn't have been more friendly. Well worth a stop if your in the park. Very popular with family's for sure.

We've visited the cafe a few times as a family from just having a snack to having lunch and always exceeds expectations. Very reasonably priced compared to other cafes and obviously they take pride in the food with good ingredients! One very minor downside is the toast is often hard, but given the fact the kitchen is smaller than most household kitchens they do very well!

Fantastic park cafe well worth a visit. Friendly staff and always service with a smile! Recommend the new banana milkshake 😋 free coffee grind too 👍🏼

We were recommended to eat here and the fb posts always look very good but I had a bacon cheese burger and fries and my wife had a chicken and bacon salad the fries were over cooked and cooked again and greasy the burger was tasteless not a lot of cheese and the bacon was burnt the chicken in the salad was covered in black from the char grill which made the whole salad taste burnt and the large latte needs an extra shot of coffee didn't complain as we had already waited 30 +minutes for our lunch won't be going back wouldn't recommend it

At over £2 for a cup of tea we didn't enter the premises as we probably couldn't afford to eat. How much is water and a tea bag nowadays? Absolutely extortionate for a parks cafe.

Really pleased that this cafe has reopened. It is a great asset to the park, situated as it is between the splendid bowling green and excellent children's playground.
