food was great quality and fresh. however portions have taken a hit with each dish being 50-60% container full. yuk sum had only enough filling to stuff a 1/4 of the supplied lettuces leaves. Also even though less than a mile away from them, everything needed reheating. will order again in the hope this under sized was a one off.

Terrible portions. I paid £17 for half a crispy duck. I managed to make 5 small pancakes. There are 4 of us. I took a photo of the portion that arrived. Shocking and it’s some sort of processed duck in uniform dices . Terrible. Completely ripped off. The plum sauce was watered down.. actually separated.. like full of clear liquid and surely the same size serving as a quarter duck serving as I can’t imagine a smaller tub.as for portion of spare ribs. There was 4 ribs. And each was like half length

First time ordering and liked it. The sauce on the crispy beef was a bit claggy and sickly, i think from a jar? Wasnt made fresh i know that but very nice

Very disappointed tonight. We have ordered from here several times & it’s always been super hot. Tonight the prawn crackers tasted stale, the chips were cold & just didn’t taste nice at all.

Great flavour but the portion of the curry dishes were small with the containers only half full.

This is a sports bar with "run of the mill" lager and beers. The armosphere is good when there's a high-profile sports event on TV, but otherwise, it's an uninteresting place

Probably the best the take-out Chinese we have ever had. We had sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, chinese curry, rice and chips. I was expecting that it would last us two meals ut it was so tasty we ended up finishing the lot. Delighted.

Really good food best in the area.

Small portions for price. Salt and chilli ribs for £6.45 was less than two ribs chopped up into six little one inch pieces. Also boneless salt and chilli chicken was about half the size of a normal portion (even as a starter). Plenty of flavour, and nice heat to food and not greasy. Prawn crackers we were promised were missing.

It's clean and warm. Set in an affluent dormitory village and aiming for being the "in place" to see & be seen. Probably meets that aspiration during busy times, but not really my cup of tea, and (for me) seems a bit "lost" in style during quieter times, but that is almost inevitable given the "plan" for the venue and it's location. Probably worth a visit if you have some ostentatious possessions to show off at the busier times.

Village pub. Clean and warm. Chasing more the contemporary vibe, and on a busy night catching it, but when it's quiet it feels a little out of place, but I guess that's the compromise you get.

First and last time ordering here. Firstly, the portions are shockingly small. Next I have never come across yuk sung with four tiny pieces of soggy vermicelli. Everything we had was pretty tasteless. Glad I didn’t go and eat in the restaurant as that would’ve been even worse.!

Totally inedible. Would not normally leave a negative review but the grease is dripping from the yuk sung and the curry tasted like a supermarket jar. Genuinely unable to eat it.

Great food and fast service. Arrived early too, which was a nice surprise.

The crispy shredded beef is neither crispy, nor shredded! I’ve had it twice now and it was so rubbery tonight I had a couple of mouthfuls, then gave up. A shame, as we live 2 minutes away and the couple of times we’ve eaten in the restaurant it’s been so much better!

Tough call between 3 and 4 stars. Plenty of space and good selection of drink, but decor felt more like a school cafeteria than a bar... Would prefer some of the other drinking spots on the high street (EDIT: Thanks for the response - will visit again and have another look around. I'll happily edit my review if I'm wrong)

I can’t into the restaurant with some of my friends last night after work for a meal, the waiting staff were lovely and so polite and patient with us as we were taking a while to decide what we would like to order. The food was amazing and very fresh and hot. Will definitely return soon!

My wife and I love West One. It is by far the best East-Asian food in the Stourbridge / Hagley area. I would recommend the MeeGoreng as it mixes spicy sweet with a hit of umami. My wife gets the chilli beef or the chicken Kung Pao. We always come back every other week.

First of all beef chow mien and ribs were ok nothing special ,sirloin steak and chips were the worst I have ever had ,they didn’t come with original order but after being missed were re sent phoned to say how bad it was 10 minutes latter an employee arrived with a full refund which I hadn’t asked for so must of known it was bad manager said they would call but didn’t , overpriced overated

Only tried the chowmein options (2 different ones), but we both found them to be bland. Menu overpriced for takeaway, with food not living up to expectations.

Visited Friday as a group of 14. Very impressed with the private dining area which we were allocated. Staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Food came out promptly, all hot and very tasty. Definitely a great place to dine.

Went there tonight for the first time very clean restaurant but it was so cold in there the food went cold before we could it all the tables were marble and very cold no table cloths there was nothing to keep the food warm at all plates were to small for the food wSasnice but the chicken in my curry and the wife's chicken must have been bought sliced and it definitely was not grilled chicken it is a nice axe but in my opinion and the others with me the hVe got it wrong the definitely need to improve on the way they serve the food how to keep it warm and put some heating on I'm afraid I won't be going again it's also very over priced sorry because the staff were very nice

Last night we visited west one to try the restaurant upstairs firstly staff very attentive and friendly, secondly wow ! The food was absolutely fantastic flavoursome and cooked to perfection we shall definitely be coming back again Hats 🎩 off to the chef and all the Staff 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I've not been to West one for many years but heard that it had changed quite a bit and has recently this year opened a new Chinese restaurant upstairs. So myself and a group of friends thought we would give it a try. And I have to say we are all happy that we did. The food was was just amazing, the right amount for each portion and came out at the perfect times. We didn't feel rushed in anyway and was looked after by our friendly waitress that was very intentive and professional through out. The ambiance was lovely and the decor looks great too. Whats also great is that if you have a large group, you can be sectioned off to make it more of a private party. So worth mentioning when booking. Once we had finished our meals we then decided to go down stairs into the wine bar and have a cheeky cocktail before leaving (one for the road as they say) All in all it was a great experience and one that we have all said we will be returning again in the near future.

Had a take away from east, food was very tasty but portions were very very small, especially for the price

We have just had a fantastic meal at East at West One. Beautiful Asian food cooked with very high quality ingredients. We shared a seafood platter to start, the fish was delicious and fresh. I then had a Thai Green Curry which was very good and authentic. The staff were super friendly and the newly renovated restaurant classy. We were really impressed and look forward to visiting again soon.

Had a takeaway from East @ West One. The food was absolutely delicious...by far the best chinese we have ever tasted! Highly recommend!!

Lush but unintimidating modern hostelry

The food was absolutely superb and would score 5 stars on it's own. However the ambience and service were sub-standard for a sit down meal. I would recommend avoiding weekends or waiting until the dedicated dining area opens in early 2022. I can't emphasise enough how good the food was though.

We visited this restaurant as we were told it now did Chinese, Malaysian and Japanese food so were looking forward to it. However absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. The starters were completely spoilt by three small children running up and down with piercing screams completely out of control and not disciplined. Really don't need that when you trying to enjoy a meal. We asked if we ordered 3 starters whether they we suitable for sharing and were told that the chef said yes, five buttered prawns later we asked if we could have an extra one and were told yes but it would be an extra £1.50. We asked for wet wipes or a bowl of water and the waitress looked as though we were asking for something she had never heard of. Sweet and sour prawns and Malaysian curry were quite nice although the curry was swimming in sauce with not much content the Chinese curry was awful and tasted like one out of packet and my friend left it and shared mine. We thought it was very expensive and certainly not worth it . A medium glass of Sauvignon Blanc was £7.50. Staff friendly but completely incompetent why wear a mask that is below your nose? it was like eating food in a cafeteria. We certainly won't be returning as none of us enjoyed it and would advise to definitely steer clear.

Good service, reasonable value

My husband and I visited for lunch this weekend; it’s local to us but we haven’t been for a couple of years as last time we visited the venue was overrun by children in football kits from the team West One sponsor, running around, yelling/screaming and hitting our table, with no-one stopping them. We decided to give it another try. Firstly the place has no atmosphere or character at all. The booth style chairs are old and ripped. There was a children’s birthday gathering happening at the front, creating a lot of noise (appreciate not the venues fault). We ordered food, the starters took over half an hour to arrive, which would have been ok but the place wasn’t overly busy and the 2 large parties already had their food. The table next to us who ordered about 10 mins after us got their food first. The food itself, to be fair, was nice and the lady who brought the starters was friendly and asked if we needed side plates or anything else. While still eating our starters my husbands main arrived and was just plonked on the table next to him without a word. My main arrived about 3/4 minutes later, by which time we’d finished our starter, again just put down without a word, next to my starter plate - the waiter didn’t clear our plates, move the platter we’d been sharing or change our cutlery. Just walked off. To me it’s all about service and little things don’t take an awful lot to get right. Don’t bring out the mains until the starters are finished and make sure dirty dishes are cleared from tables. Ask if anything else required, say “enjoy”... We might try it again in 2 years time.

Put our minds at ease when organising a very chaotic child’s party and were extremely patient whilst helping set up too! Compliments to the Chef Sarah who made the delicious buffet and was so helpful and lovely! Thank you again guys! We had a great time! 😊

Big sign up outside the bar all week advertising a band and BBQ to be held from 4pm Sunday 14th July. Brought the whole family down for the entertainment and food and guess what! NO BBQ because there was a private party out back! What the hell do you advertise a bbq for if you've already booked the venue for a party! Absolutely fuming! We were all really looking forward to the bbq. On the plus side, the band were good!

Nice place was on a 4hr work and stopped for a lunch time drink and short rest break.

Prefer to forget this experience! The one meal that did arrive was inedible. The other ordered meal had clearly been forgotten, even after I enquired into its whereabouts. Staff didn’t seem too bothered by this. We had gone in before the TV was put on full blast...wouldn’t have entered had we known it would be put on such high volume. Couldn’t find anywhere to sit that was quiet enough for us to converse.

Needs to be either contemporary or cosy...It's neither

Last Friday I went to west one for a drink at the bar, had an average experience but overhead someone who looked like they were encharge slagging off their employees. Completely ruined my experience and I honestly felt sorry for the people they were talking about, this place needs a severe change of management.

Nice place and welcoming staff.

No atmosphere compared to other pubs in area. The manageress Claire is a lovely person but trying to manage two establishments at the same time is just a bridge too far (The Four Stones in Clent) these two places are also owned by the same people. Most expensive drinks in area plus ready to close at 930pm at weekends which is a joke for such a trendy pub that it portrays itself to be!

Hired the room upstairs for a birthday party. We had around 30 people. Claire was fantastic helping us sort out food and wine. Fantastic value, food, wine and service. Claire will sort pretty much any food you want. A nice intimate venue. We had a memorable evening.A hidden gem

I was lucky enough to be taken here for a lovely family lunch with my mum, my niece and my oldest daughter! We for looked after by a lovely lady called Karen, who clearly recognised my mum as a local in the village. The service, the ambience and our choices of food were all fabulous. Karen made all for of us feel extremely welcome - and I will definitely look forward to enjoying this place again next time I am in the area. Keep up the good work - it certainly doesn’t go un-noticed!

I played the piano at West One for the Royal Wedding it is a strange place it is more like a sports bar now with large screen tv's than a wine bar somehow lacking in atmosphere. Friendly staff and great service though.

Excellent local venue for parties upstairs. Brilliant menu. Superb coffee....best in the village. And now they have a fab beer garden. Well worth a visit.
