This is a sports bar with "run of the mill" lager and beers. The armosphere is good when there's a high-profile sports event on TV, but otherwise, it's an uninteresting place

Probably the best the take-out Chinese we have ever had. We had sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, chinese curry, rice and chips. I was expecting that it would last us two meals ut it was so tasty we ended up finishing the lot. Delighted.

Really good food best in the area.

Small portions for price. Salt and chilli ribs for £6.45 was less than two ribs chopped up into six little one inch pieces. Also boneless salt and chilli chicken was about half the size of a normal portion (even as a starter). Plenty of flavour, and nice heat to food and not greasy. Prawn crackers we were promised were missing.

It's clean and warm. Set in an affluent dormitory village and aiming for being the "in place" to see & be seen. Probably meets that aspiration during busy times, but not really my cup of tea, and (for me) seems a bit "lost" in style during quieter times, but that is almost inevitable given the "plan" for the venue and it's location. Probably worth a visit if you have some ostentatious possessions to show off at the busier times.

Village pub. Clean and warm. Chasing more the contemporary vibe, and on a busy night catching it, but when it's quiet it feels a little out of place, but I guess that's the compromise you get.

First and last time ordering here. Firstly, the portions are shockingly small. Next I have never come across yuk sung with four tiny pieces of soggy vermicelli. Everything we had was pretty tasteless. Glad I didn’t go and eat in the restaurant as that would’ve been even worse.!

Totally inedible. Would not normally leave a negative review but the grease is dripping from the yuk sung and the curry tasted like a supermarket jar. Genuinely unable to eat it.

Great food and fast service. Arrived early too, which was a nice surprise.

The crispy shredded beef is neither crispy, nor shredded! I’ve had it twice now and it was so rubbery tonight I had a couple of mouthfuls, then gave up. A shame, as we live 2 minutes away and the couple of times we’ve eaten in the restaurant it’s been so much better!

Tough call between 3 and 4 stars. Plenty of space and good selection of drink, but decor felt more like a school cafeteria than a bar... Would prefer some of the other drinking spots on the high street (EDIT: Thanks for the response - will visit again and have another look around. I'll happily edit my review if I'm wrong)

We had a fantastic meal, early bird deal, a lovely bottle of wine. Service was superb. We'll definitely go again.

We love ordering from East at West one. I always order the Mee Goreng because the flavour is complex with a kick!

I can’t into the restaurant with some of my friends last night after work for a meal, the waiting staff were lovely and so polite and patient with us as we were taking a while to decide what we would like to order. The food was amazing and very fresh and hot. Will definitely return soon!

My wife and I love West One. It is by far the best East-Asian food in the Stourbridge / Hagley area. I would recommend the MeeGoreng as it mixes spicy sweet with a hit of umami. My wife gets the chilli beef or the chicken Kung Pao. We always come back every other week.

First of all beef chow mien and ribs were ok nothing special ,sirloin steak and chips were the worst I have ever had ,they didn’t come with original order but after being missed were re sent phoned to say how bad it was 10 minutes latter an employee arrived with a full refund which I hadn’t asked for so must of known it was bad manager said they would call but didn’t , overpriced overated

Only tried the chowmein options (2 different ones), but we both found them to be bland. Menu overpriced for takeaway, with food not living up to expectations.

Visited Friday as a group of 14. Very impressed with the private dining area which we were allocated. Staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Food came out promptly, all hot and very tasty. Definitely a great place to dine.

Went there tonight for the first time very clean restaurant but it was so cold in there the food went cold before we could it all the tables were marble and very cold no table cloths there was nothing to keep the food warm at all plates were to small for the food wSasnice but the chicken in my curry and the wife's chicken must have been bought sliced and it definitely was not grilled chicken it is a nice axe but in my opinion and the others with me the hVe got it wrong the definitely need to improve on the way they serve the food how to keep it warm and put some heating on I'm afraid I won't be going again it's also very over priced sorry because the staff were very nice

Last night we visited west one to try the restaurant upstairs firstly staff very attentive and friendly, secondly wow ! The food was absolutely fantastic flavoursome and cooked to perfection we shall definitely be coming back again Hats 🎩 off to the chef and all the Staff 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I've not been to West one for many years but heard that it had changed quite a bit and has recently this year opened a new Chinese restaurant upstairs. So myself and a group of friends thought we would give it a try. And I have to say we are all happy that we did. The food was was just amazing, the right amount for each portion and came out at the perfect times. We didn't feel rushed in anyway and was looked after by our friendly waitress that was very intentive and professional through out. The ambiance was lovely and the decor looks great too. Whats also great is that if you have a large group, you can be sectioned off to make it more of a private party. So worth mentioning when booking. Once we had finished our meals we then decided to go down stairs into the wine bar and have a cheeky cocktail before leaving (one for the road as they say) All in all it was a great experience and one that we have all said we will be returning again in the near future.

Had a take away from east, food was very tasty but portions were very very small, especially for the price

We have just had a fantastic meal at East at West One. Beautiful Asian food cooked with very high quality ingredients. We shared a seafood platter to start, the fish was delicious and fresh. I then had a Thai Green Curry which was very good and authentic. The staff were super friendly and the newly renovated restaurant classy. We were really impressed and look forward to visiting again soon.

Lush but unintimidating modern hostelry

The food was absolutely superb and would score 5 stars on it's own. However the ambience and service were sub-standard for a sit down meal. I would recommend avoiding weekends or waiting until the dedicated dining area opens in early 2022. I can't emphasise enough how good the food was though.

We visited this restaurant as we were told it now did Chinese, Malaysian and Japanese food so were looking forward to it. However absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. The starters were completely spoilt by three small children running up and down with piercing screams completely out of control and not disciplined. Really don't need that when you trying to enjoy a meal. We asked if we ordered 3 starters whether they we suitable for sharing and were told that the chef said yes, five buttered prawns later we asked if we could have an extra one and were told yes but it would be an extra £1.50. We asked for wet wipes or a bowl of water and the waitress looked as though we were asking for something she had never heard of. Sweet and sour prawns and Malaysian curry were quite nice although the curry was swimming in sauce with not much content the Chinese curry was awful and tasted like one out of packet and my friend left it and shared mine. We thought it was very expensive and certainly not worth it . A medium glass of Sauvignon Blanc was £7.50. Staff friendly but completely incompetent why wear a mask that is below your nose? it was like eating food in a cafeteria. We certainly won't be returning as none of us enjoyed it and would advise to definitely steer clear.

Good service, reasonable value

My husband and I visited for lunch this weekend; it’s local to us but we haven’t been for a couple of years as last time we visited the venue was overrun by children in football kits from the team West One sponsor, running around, yelling/screaming and hitting our table, with no-one stopping them. We decided to give it another try. Firstly the place has no atmosphere or character at all. The booth style chairs are old and ripped. There was a children’s birthday gathering happening at the front, creating a lot of noise (appreciate not the venues fault). We ordered food, the starters took over half an hour to arrive, which would have been ok but the place wasn’t overly busy and the 2 large parties already had their food. The table next to us who ordered about 10 mins after us got their food first. The food itself, to be fair, was nice and the lady who brought the starters was friendly and asked if we needed side plates or anything else. While still eating our starters my husbands main arrived and was just plonked on the table next to him without a word. My main arrived about 3/4 minutes later, by which time we’d finished our starter, again just put down without a word, next to my starter plate - the waiter didn’t clear our plates, move the platter we’d been sharing or change our cutlery. Just walked off. To me it’s all about service and little things don’t take an awful lot to get right. Don’t bring out the mains until the starters are finished and make sure dirty dishes are cleared from tables. Ask if anything else required, say “enjoy”... We might try it again in 2 years time.

Put our minds at ease when organising a very chaotic child’s party and were extremely patient whilst helping set up too! Compliments to the Chef Sarah who made the delicious buffet and was so helpful and lovely! Thank you again guys! We had a great time! 😊

Big sign up outside the bar all week advertising a band and BBQ to be held from 4pm Sunday 14th July. Brought the whole family down for the entertainment and food and guess what! NO BBQ because there was a private party out back! What the hell do you advertise a bbq for if you've already booked the venue for a party! Absolutely fuming! We were all really looking forward to the bbq. On the plus side, the band were good!

Nice place was on a 4hr work and stopped for a lunch time drink and short rest break.

Prefer to forget this experience! The one meal that did arrive was inedible. The other ordered meal had clearly been forgotten, even after I enquired into its whereabouts. Staff didn’t seem too bothered by this. We had gone in before the TV was put on full blast...wouldn’t have entered had we known it would be put on such high volume. Couldn’t find anywhere to sit that was quiet enough for us to converse.

Needs to be either contemporary or cosy...It's neither

Last Friday I went to west one for a drink at the bar, had an average experience but overhead someone who looked like they were encharge slagging off their employees. Completely ruined my experience and I honestly felt sorry for the people they were talking about, this place needs a severe change of management.

Nice place and welcoming staff.

No atmosphere compared to other pubs in area. The manageress Claire is a lovely person but trying to manage two establishments at the same time is just a bridge too far (The Four Stones in Clent) these two places are also owned by the same people. Most expensive drinks in area plus ready to close at 930pm at weekends which is a joke for such a trendy pub that it portrays itself to be!

Hired the room upstairs for a birthday party. We had around 30 people. Claire was fantastic helping us sort out food and wine. Fantastic value, food, wine and service. Claire will sort pretty much any food you want. A nice intimate venue. We had a memorable evening.A hidden gem

I was lucky enough to be taken here for a lovely family lunch with my mum, my niece and my oldest daughter! We for looked after by a lovely lady called Karen, who clearly recognised my mum as a local in the village. The service, the ambience and our choices of food were all fabulous. Karen made all for of us feel extremely welcome - and I will definitely look forward to enjoying this place again next time I am in the area. Keep up the good work - it certainly doesn’t go un-noticed!

I played the piano at West One for the Royal Wedding it is a strange place it is more like a sports bar now with large screen tv's than a wine bar somehow lacking in atmosphere. Friendly staff and great service though.

Excellent local venue for parties upstairs. Brilliant menu. Superb coffee....best in the village. And now they have a fab beer garden. Well worth a visit.

We hired the function room out for an acoustic evening. Tom, who hosted us, couldn't have been more helpful and helped make the evening run so smoothly. It's an usually shaped room and works nicely as an little gig venue. The wine bar downstairs is snug and adorable - will certainly be coming back to check this out in the future!

Este lugar nunca ha tenido cualquier ambiente, incluso con el nuevo jardín que consta de un patio con unas pocas mesas de madera cubierto del sol y no había sombrillas. Puede ser paraíso para fumadores, pero no te molestes en llevar a los niños. Incluso la soda era plana. Que por supuesto que cobraron la tierra. Espero y ruego que se un sitio decente para comer en Hagley pubwise pronto. Quizás el pub será el Bathams respuesta.

Mi cuñada hizo la decisión de tener mi sobrinos de bautizo del lugar de su hijo. Por desgracia el lugar deje que ella y su familia por tan mal es una lastima cuanto fui al bar me di cuenta el personal muy jóvenes son extremadamente grosero e indiferente, parece que no quería estar allí, y se notaba en las actitudes. Luego está la cuestión con la puerta de incendios, lo que obviamente fue rota y no se cerraba y detrás de este era una escalera muy empinada en numerosas ocasiones, los niños casi cayó de la salud y la seguridad tienen un día de campo en este. Ahora llegamos a la cuestión de la cantidad de alimentos muy poco privided resultó una prenda de comida por persona, por ejemplo una pequeña salchicha media un bocadillo cuando pregunté para proporcionar más alimentos que pensamos que un plato de patatas fritas sería suficiente. Gestión era desinteresado y no hizo ningún esfuerzo para rectificar su error. No volveré a este lugar

Venue was booked for my nephews christening party it was an unsafe room with the fire exit door leading to very steep stairs left open when children were playing at the venue tried to pull door shut was clearly broke as just kept opening very unsafe,staff behind the bar were young rude and had no idea what people were asking for after bringing out below standard food for a party of 65 which ran out leaving half the guests with no food, staff then blasted awful music really loudly into venue greeted with an eye roll when asked to turn it down overall .... rubbish won't return .

Reservamos WestOne para bautizo de mi hijo y fue tan decepcionante! Nos proporcionaron con porciones minúsculas de comida por debajo de la media. Se recomienda que reserve para la mitad de los niños, ya que no comer porciones de tamaño adulto. Entonces procedieron a proporcionar 1 de cada elemento para 64 huéspedes, es decir, 1 medio sándwich, 1 trozo de salchicha, etc. (teniendo en cuenta que eran plenamente conscientes de que había 76 clientes, incluyendo todos los niños). No había donde cerca suficiente comida para los huéspedes. Cuando nos quejamos nos dijeron que no eran responsables de las personas y sus placas amontonando los niños son normalmente demasiado ocupado jugando a comer! ! ! El personal era en general poco servicial y nos dijo que no había más comida en la cocina cuando pedimos más! Mi marido y yo estábamos a la izquierda de vergüenza y malestar en nuestro día de bautizo. bebés Totalmente inaceptable!

Mi hija reservó este lugar para nuestro nietos de bautizo, la comida era de un nivel mediocre abs la mitad de no conseguir comida, ya que se acabó!

Aquí en el Poped fuera de oportunidad. Estaba lleno de bebedores ruidosos. El personal parecía ignorar que favorecen a los lugareños. No administrar a la orden en la final. La comida era caro y sub estándar. No regresamos. Ojalá hubiera agarramos el pescado y patatas fritas de ahora

Me and my partner visited here for a light dinner,we ordered breaded mushroom starters for us both,with a steak main for myself,and mushroom risotto for my partnerDidn't have to wait to long for starters,only to find mine came with a hair,can't remember ordering that,needless to say both me and my partner gave them a missMy starter arrived,for the price it was very poor standard steak,and then we waited for the risotto,i had finished my meal,and had to ask for the risotto,to which they had forgot,it wasn't even busy,when it finally came it was quite clear from the congealed and sticky state,it had been cooked and left under a warming lamp,this meal was disgusting,and again leftNot one to make a fuss we drank up and left,i sent an email a few days later expressing my disappointment,to which they havn't had the decency to reply Do not waste your money going here

Haven't been to this place for donkeys years but my girlfriend had a milkshake a couple of weeks ago and liked the look of it. It didn't start off well by being ignored a bit at the bar and then the drinks order was wrong but not the end of the world! They were a chef down but didn't seem like anyone was in apart from three tables? The scampi was like a canteen meal with no greenery and my two year old had a bigger portion than me. The roasts looked good though and I think the staff are normally better. Will go back for another go!

After a lovely meal at the New Delhi down the road (always good food there and the most friendly staff) to celebrate the return of our friends who now live in America, we thought we would visit West One for a few drinks to end the night. Having grown up in the area, gone to school in Hagley and now living locally with our own families, West One would be considered our local - why don't we come here more often...?Well now I know - The staff our beyond rude!We decided to sit outside on the front terrace, as the evening was so warm, having not noticed a BLACK 'don't sit here past 10 o'clock sign' propped up on a chair (we must have sat there at 9:55) we proceeded to seat ourselves while the men got the drinks in. Once we had got comfy, rearranged the furniture a little, only then did what I believe to be a member of staff, called Laura we later found out, shout at the top of her voice from her seat at the side of the bar "you can't sit there" followed by various mumblings - this was we later learned due to noise concerns. How sitting literally 1 metre further away was going to resolve these noise issues is another issue all together. We obliged and moved, after been spoken to in a most unprofessional manner in front of other customers also sitting outside, it was really quite embarrassing. Our partners still at the bar hear Laura talking about us in quite unkind and rude words to other members of staff behind the bar who are serving our drinks (obviously not realising they are with us, or just not really caring)We are kindly offered a table by a group of people leaving, had the staff done their jobs and cleared some of the smaller empty tables that were full of glasses and put some of the strewn chairs back in place we probably would not have even looked to sit where we did initially. We take our seats and have our drinks since they had already been poured, had they not - I would not have stayed a second longer. Things are winding down, the few people people that were also here drinking are leaving, the bi-fold doors onto the terrace area are closed. One group goes to leave and we once again overhear the charming Laura talk about us in a derogatory manner to this group of people. I can not get over the unprofessionalism - at least do it out of earshot!A large group of girls arrive, also having come up from the New Delhi, they proceed to sit in the exact spot we did. We wait with anticipation... A different member of staff comes out of the bar, over to their group and kindly asks them to move quietly and professionally. They do so.... And this ladies and gentlemen is how it should be done and we told them so! Still we received no apology! We won't be going back but apparently I'm banned anyway, this was the throw away comment received from the lovely Laura as our group departed!

Excellent service friendly atmosphere. The cost of the meal with drink was very reasonable and the service was seedy, particularly as there were several large families there also.

Food was nice.A bit loud because of party up stairs, staff very helpful and friendly.The only concern was the fries for my daughter were covered in salt! No need!But they were replaced with no question but they were very late.In all a nice place to eat and visit staff are great.

I love this place for it's coffee and food. It is of a high standard which brings us back every weekend. Please start having events again and ignore the over sensitive neighbours nearby.

This was the last chance for our family to get together before Christmas madness began. What a meal! It was fantastic! My only hope is that I can get my Christmas dinner close to what we ate today. Each item on the dinner platters was cooked to perfection. The ham was juicy and the turkey succulent. If the platters didn't fill us up the amazing desserts finished the job! Mug cake was out of this world, the cake of the day disappeared in seconds and the Eton mess caused silence to fall upon the table (only broken by yum noises!) The service was second to none and we wanted for nothing! The head chef herself table checked us at one point, what an amazing team here at west one! They have transformed the beer garden into a magical Santa's grotto and the decoration in the main area is tasteful yet festive, nothing has been left unthought of. Thank you, yet again, for an exemplary afternoon of real food, amazing atmosphere and friendly staff!

I've been here many times before but I think the menu is getting better every time. They even have a new beer garden which looks marvelous. We were the first people there one lunchtime so managed to order immediately. However, the food took a very long time to arrive (more than 30 minutes wait). The food was good but allow lots of time.
