Had a fabulous dinner here. The food was very good and the service excellent

We stopped for breakfast and a coffee. Service was a little hasty but efficient, unfortunately together with the water jug ​​there was also a small lock of hair at the base; obviously it's not nice to look at but I'm sure it was just an unwanted inattention. Otherwise, the food was good and the coffee was one of the best in Edinburgh.

Excellent experience at this brewery in Edinburgh! We were delighted by the quality of the service, very attentive, and by the delicious meat dishes. The cocktails were also fabulous. A beautiful place to recommend without hesitation!

Lovely relaxed place for brunch with top quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and attentive and showed great patience when we had to wait for the last person in our party who arrived a bit late. Great food, great cocktails and great value for money with great staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone.

The staff could smile more. The location, the atmosphere of the company is unique. I would like to come back here again

It's one of the fanciest looking breakfasts I have ever had in my life

Bottom line: great meal, great service. Walking home from a day of shopping we wanted something nice for dinner. The location was convenient to where we were, right across the street from Johnny Walker. The menu had many French favorites and a few Scottish dishes. We each decided on the Steak Frites and a side salad. The wait for the food was perhaps a little longer than expected, but the quality more than made up for it. The steak was cooked to perfection and almost fork-tender. I had the peppercorn cream sauce with mine and she had the herbed butter. The peppercorn was milder than expected but the real star was the beef, and a stronger sauce would have detracted from it. The bill for two without drinks was £56, right in line with the quality of the food.

Simply class. Very nice location. Full English breakfast and various other delicious dishes. Absolute recommendation. Very friendly staff.

Extremely long time waiting for nothing special. The only thing worth is the view outside.

Probably only good things is the atmosphere. Food was not good, I had full breakfast and eventho I like haggis, I couldnt eat at this place, very smelly and bad texture. Scrambled eggs were scrambled with milk?! Overly priced and you will pay ‘service charge’ for what? Nothing

Nunca más, demasiado caro, sin ambiente, tuvimos que esperar por nuestras bebidas, a pesar de que los tres empleados estaban allí y fue bastante, le comenté al personal que las bebidas eran demasiado caras, la joven se disculpó por la otra chica no podía importarle menos. ¿Estás pagando por todo el personal y hay una gran cortina pesada sobre la puerta del inodoro de las mujeres, no estás seguro de qué se trata? Nunca volveremos atrás y si valoras tu billetera no te molestes, sigue el camino y obtendrás mejor servicio, ambiente y valor.

Servicio muy lento. Llegamos como una mesa de 4 y pasamos más de 2 horas aquí durante tres platos, no nos avisaron de una espera y el restaurante no estaba lleno. Esperó más de 30 minutos entre cada plato, en particular el postre tardó 35 minutos en llegar 2 pudines de Navidad, que habrían tardado 30 segundos en el microondas. Toda la experiencia fue lenta, pidió que se reembolsaran los postres, pero esto fue rechazado a pesar de que marcamos la espera muchas veces.

Got seated in windowed area quite quickly yet was loads of other bigger tables with much more space available in main restaurant. Took 25 minutes to receive coffee's and then they took food order which was another 20 minutes, tables around us had wrong orders and things missing too, and took a very long time to rectify, lady on table next to us had to get a take away cup as coffee took that long, that they had finished their breakfasts. Our breakfasts took a long time to come and service was poor, I asked for tomato sauce and butter and recieved when I was nearly finished as if had waited would have been cold. Overall was just generally disappointed, venue looks so idilic and beautiful from out side and we got squashed on a tiny table in corner, where had to step around people. Would not recommend for breakfast if want to be in and out, took over 1.5hours for simple breakfast and coffee.

Beautiful location, very attractive inside. The gentleman does not enjoy his work, he clearly shows that, which is a shame! Had to wait a long time for our latte coffee. Lunch, 3 small pancakes from the microwave, far from fresh, with dirty sauce from the bottle and scones cold and hard, in short worthless!

Can’t fault the decor it looked great but Sadly the footd wasn’t upto the same standard not even close, on a day trip down to Edinburgh we decided to stop here for breakfast as the place looking lovely and inviting on the inside. Ordered a full breakfast when I recieved it the bacon was like charcoal and well the rest was pretty much freezing cold especially the toast and black pudding! My parters eggs royale was much of the same sadly! Will give them credit for knocking £3.12 off the bill but it still wasn’t worth the £30.00 I still paid for 2 cold breakfasts

Refurbished since I was last in. Comfy seats and round tables which are fabulous when you are in a crowd

First time visit for drinks, seated by a window so great for people watching. Ordered a pint of blue moon and a mojito. Place wasnt busy, mojito was £12 but I've had better. Luvly dome ceiling, a spacious place. But still worth a visit

Great location, with a view onto Princes St and to the castle. Highly attentive staff, informal enough to have a bit of a conversation but also stepping back when appropriate, but ultimately the menu is spot-on; well priced to give flexibility to budget but not at a detriment to quality. A focussed and high quality menu, well worth a visit - thank you!

They were very busy, but service was beyond slow, with some of us getting drinks then the rest having to wait then chase for theirs. Waiting staff were lovely, such a shame they were so overwhelmed. Food so so. Avoid the brownie, it was solid and stone cold.

The star of the experience was undeniably Anya, whose exceptional service transformed our visit. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine warmth made us feel truly valued as guests. Because of Anya, the service deserves five stars on its own, reflecting the highest standard of hospitality. While the ambiance and service were outstanding, our meals were a mixed experience. The fish and chips were excellent, cooked to perfection with a crisp exterior and fresh flavour. However, the steak frites fell short. My medium rare arrived as a medium, and my friend’s medium was cooked to well done, which was disappointing. Despite this, the house red was enjoyable and complemented the meal nicely. Overall, a five-star service experience thanks to Anya, with a few areas for improvement in the kitchen.

Such a shame. The food was lovely but the service was confused. We had a lovely table near the window and lots of room but we had four different waiters and had to chase up food and drink.

Very good French restaurant, the service is pleasant, the food very good but we were very cold.

The room is very well furnished. The food is good. Unfortunately, I cannot give any further stars regarding the service as we finished eating and no one asked us if we wanted a dessert and we had to wait 20 minutes to ask for the bill.

Food amazing, definitely recommending all the main dishes (like duck or aubergine), but the sticky toffee pudding was the most disgusting thing I have ever had. It tasted like burnt buckwheat.

Stop in for a late lunch. Delightful atmosphere with table service. Menu and setting were a nice break from the noise and chaos of pubs - yet prices were comparable and the quality of food outstanding. Would definitely go again.

Had a disappointing meal earlier this year and left a review to say so. So is only fair that, having returned today and had a fabulous meal I should review again. Excellent meal and attentive service. Well done.

My wife and I stayed in a nearby hotel for a few days and went everyday to the West End Brasserie for breakfast. There's a good choice of dishes available, and we tried quite a few. We really enjoyed our breakfast, the staff was very friendly, great service. Highly recommended!

Popped in this morning before I set off on a shopping spree. I had toast and a cappuccino. Toast was lovely and crispy. The staff were very attentive and could not have been more helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean and tidy. I had a window seat and people watched. There was no pressure to leave after I finished, very relaxing start to my day.

Stopped by for lunch. Fancy decor with beautiful chandeliers that make photos look great. Great food. Christie took care of us and she was absolutely wonderful and very attentive. one of the best restaurant service experiences I came across.

Lovely spot- Plat du jour is great value!! Staff were warm, knowledgeable and happy to help. Nothing was too much bother. There were several large groups in and only 3 staff but all staff were excellent and made our table of 2 feel very cared for. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

Super lunch menu served 12 to 5 with a plat du jour each day for £20 including a glass of wine. It's Thursday so I enjoyed the steak frite and a glass of red at 2.30pm for just £20. Lovely waitress. Lovely interior and a few outside seats to watch the Edinburgh world go by. Looking forward to returning.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat on our arrival to Edinburgh. Had the Scottish breakfast. Pretty sure their haggis had gone foul - probably the worst thing I've ever had. Haggis elsewhere was good. Otherwise a nice establishment. Drinks were good, and friendly staff

Fairly disappointed with the service for the level of dining/price. I booked a table for a work dinner and overall staff were courteous but not very attentive. We were seated and had to wait 15+ minutes for drink orders to be taken, then another 15+ for drinks to be served, and had to ask multiple times for waters. We also had to ask for food menus even though I booked for dinner. It took another 20 minutes before they took our orders - after that the food took a normal amount of time to come, and was decent, but the portion sizes were fairly small for the price. We finished dinner and waited awhile for the server to come back, but eventually had to flag him down to ask for dessert menus, only to be told the kitchen was closed (~21:15). We were not upset that the kitchen closed at 9, that’s reasonable as the restaurant closed at 10, but would have hoped the server would give us a heads up beforehand in case we wanted dessert/additional food. Also would not have been as frustrating if the restaurant was busy as understand if places are understaffed, etc. but we were one of three tables at the time with at least 4 servers. Overall though, the food was alright, location was good, and staff was nice enough. Maybe we just went on an off night.

A nice stop for breakfast even later in the morning. Eggs Royale was perfect. The smoked salmon and hollandaise was outstanding.

Went to the Wend End Brasserie this week and was deeply disappointed by the service and cleanliness of the place. We came in last Tuesday around 12:30, our server was very rude and short with us. She made feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable being there. The booth she sat us down was dirty and had crumbs on the chair. Additionally, the tea cup also was dirty. I ordered ice cream but they made us wait forever for a scoop of ice cream that we decided to just leave. This experience was very disappointing because I have been here before for breakfast and I really enjoyed the food and the service and wanted to come again but unfortunately we didn’t get the same experience this time.

We ended up here looking for lunch. Upon entering the first impression was good, very attractively decorated and beautiful ceiling. Selected a table with a view of the street, nice place. Ordered some drinks, staff was friendly and it was served nicely. Then a visit to the toilet made me decide not to order food. The men's toilet had a sticky floor, didn't smell fresh and there were small flies flying. Then we paid and continued searching. The rest of the experience was good, too bad. Maybe because of the hustle and bustle of the tattoo and street festival?

Popped in for a couple of cocktails before moving on into the old town Nice setting and a great cocktail I had a couple of PStar Martinis No food was had

We ordered 4 full Scottish breakfasts and one eggs benedict, all took 50 minutes to arrive ( with one breakfast actually taking 20 minutes more as our order was noted wrongly. The eggs benedict had solid poached eggs, one full breakfast instead of having scrambled eggs had what was clearly a chopped up fried egg on the plate ! Bacon was burned on all four plates and sausages were dry. A lot of money for very substandard food. Tea ordered was also wrong but coffee was good. When I asked at the bar if I could talk with someone about the mixed up orders and the very long wait for one breakfast I was ridiculed by a young girl behind the bar (not our waitress who was nice). They did however charge for 3 breakfasts not four) . We will never go back - ever

I went through walk-in, had a pinacola mocktail, and for starters, I ordered potato cheese, which was amazing, followed by a veggie salad that was also delicious, and finished with afagato ice cream. I'd want to refer my friends for the fish and chips and salad item.

It is an elegant, welcoming place that, for the same price as many places, offers a higher quality service and food. I want to give a special mention to the people who took care of us: Alex and a girl whose name I didn't catch. They have been very kind and very professional.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place because it didn’t look like much but the food is incredible and the staff is very helpful. I would highly recommend it if you’re an Edinburg.

We where put that staff avoided We went at lunch time we got Fish & chips and I got the Steak sandwich which was cold I couldn’t tell a waiter as so own came to ask how it was Very pretentious go anywhere is is cheaper and better

Loved this restaurant so much, the fish and chips is sooo yummy. Also tried the smoked salmon open sandwich and it tasted great too. The staff are so welcoming and very friendly.

Went in a group. Totally overpriced food - £14 for an average cheese toasted sandwich. Staff never smiled or interacted with us the entire time we were there. When we left we went to pay and we split the bill. 10% “gratuity” for the entire bill was added to the last persons bill without any advice. Only realised as it seemed strange that the waiter did not show me how much I was being charged on either the bill or the card machine. I went back and queried at which time I was told I could get a refund of the amount - as it is a voluntary tip! Totally dodgy! There are literally hundreds of other places to eat! Do yourself a favour and keep walking.

The place is very well located. The staff is friendly and the menu offers a variety of different options. We got the disco of the day, which was very good and offers an excellent value for money alternative. The food was great and the size of the dishes was also good. It is a pleasant place to have a lunch or dinner at Princess Street.

The best thing about the place is undoubtedly the attention and location, the same cannot be said about the food. As delicious as it is, it's better to go to any Italian restaurant nearby where you can eat better and cheaper.

Location good and staff helpful but quality of food not that great

We had an excellent dinner. The steak was very tender and perfectly cooked. The accompanying peppercorn sauce was a very tasty addition. Reasonably priced given the high quality of the meat. Service was great. Had gone to their bar a day earlier and again had great service.

I recently had an exceptional dining experience at west end brasserie in Edinburgh. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable evening. A special mention goes to the manager, who personally made me an Irish coffee just like they do in Ireland—absolutely fabulous! The warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with the outstanding service, makes west end brasserie a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Went here to eat with my family. Servers were very rude. After waiting to pay for far too long we had to go to the front door to get someone’s attention. Once we got our bill the server seemed angry and upset that we were asking to pay. He didn’t even speak a word to us and just pushed the receipt into my chest and walked away. Don’t go.

The location is great , with a beautiful view , but the service and quality of food was terrible . My coffee came already cold ( one hair came in my saucer ) , the pineapple juice was the worst and I couldn’t drink . Tasted like bad pineapple . The breakfast plates took almost an hour to get to our table and was missing one plate to one of us. I usually don’t write reviews but I couldn’t not to write because I want the restaurant to improve the poor service .

Temps d'attente vraiment exagéré (+-30 min pour 3 bières et 1 cola+30min supplémentaire pour une boule de glace et du café) alors que l'établissement était quasi vide, prix excessifs et toilettes dégoutantes. Nous sommes peut-être mal tombés mais nous n'y retournerons plus jamais. Donc service médiocre (hormis un serveur paraissant gêné de la situation). Quel manque de professionnalisme!

The Brasserie is such an elegant yet cozy spot. The high ceilings create a sense of spaciousness, making the small area feel much larger. The overall ambiance is delightful, and the service is excellent, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Worst decision ever to choose the West End Brasserie for a business lunch. We ordered 1 steak sandwich and 1 ham sandwich. It took 30 min for the wrong order to be dropped at our table - just one order, mind you, no sign of the ham and cheese. When we tried to rectify the issue, the waiters were blaise at best. The manger on duty was lovely and apologetic, however, we left completely confused and starving. Luckily, Greggs is right across the street, so I didn't have to go my entire work day without eating. Unreal.

Wanting to grab something at lunchtime and finding ourselves just at this end of Princes Street we chose West End Brasserie as it seemed well set up. A mixed bag. Attentive service but with some things lost in translation. I chose Haggis balls and a goats cheese and beetroot salad, my son asked for the six oysters and a bloody Mary, my daughter in law had a Caesar salad and my wife the braised leek tartlet. I was fine, though my salad had an imbalance of leaf to cheese. My son's oysters had no mignonette and his bloody Mary changed into three small tumblers of a bloody Mary sauce - IE tomato juice and a dash of worcestershire sauce. My daughter in law's ceasar had a boiled egg added but the real issue was the braised leek tart. This arrived looking quite pretty but the leeks were raw, chopped and sitting in a pastry base. Upon querying this she was told that this was the way they served it - a brasserie leek tart. Now the menu says braised and it has to be asked who in their right minds would serve raw leeks yet describe them on the menu as braised. To be fair the meal was removed from the bill but this is the kind of error that no restaurant purporting to be a brasserie should make.

Nice enough restaurant with friendly attentive staff and good draft beer. Service was great, food largely good although one dish (macaroni cheese) tasted a bit strange. Waitress did make sure it was taken off the bill.

The first place I went for a drink during my trip to Edinburgh. The atmosphere was nice and the servers were friendly! Truffle French fries are absolutely delicious! The wine and cocktails were really delicious too.

The environment is very nice. The employees are very polite. We stopped by for dessert and coffee. It was beautiful.

Went here for Sunday brunch with a large group of friends. Even though they were busy they managed to accomodate 12 of us with out a reservation. Staff were very attentive and polite. Food was lovely and large portions so although some may say a little pricey its well worth the money as you get alot of food. Would highly reccommend and would defo come back

The service was fine and the atmosphere was nice, but the food was really appalling. I got the gluten free Eggs Benedict. This was comprised of two untoasted pieces of white bread, store bought ham, and pre-made, cold hollandaise. The poached eggs also tasted very strongly of apple cider vinegar. For £11, it just really wasn’t worth the cost.

Fantastic food and service. Atmosphere was great for a family celebration.

Went to breakfast/brunch on Sunday 18th Feb. Most of us had a bacon roll, 1 person had granola and I had an almond croissant. Bacon rolls and granola were good, croissant was excellent we all had tea and/or coffee. Service was attentive and efficient.

Sehr schönes Lokal in top Lage. Sehr freundlicher Service. Tolle Auswahl an Gerichten und leckeres Essen. Auch sehr schön und hier am Nachmittag Tee zu trinken.
