Good service, great coffee and good desserts. Friendly and kind staff!

We come here for around 3 years now. It's very nice and food is Great. You can also see the castle of Edinburgh daytime. Everyone is friendly and service is quality. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!!

Service was slow, the restaurant was steady but not too bust. staff were pleasant and friendly. Only ordered drinks and mains and waited 40 minutes for our food. Will not be back.

Exceptional staff who were bright and attentive. Food was good basic pub food fare. Portions were huge . Modern surroundings which could be a bit noisy when the restaurant is busy . Good view of Grassmarket and castle from our window table.

We had a reservation and requested a window seat but the place was very busy when we arrived so we were seated on the lower level. Shortly the manager came along and moved us to a window seat and brought a complimentary wine. The service was excellent and the food was perfect.

The Food was better in person than for room service.

WOW WOW WOW, absolutely beautiful meal! The first time we had a beautifully cooked meal that had everything going for it. Tasty,fresh hot and tasted was amazing. We had the Chicken and haggis wrapped in bacon with dauphinois potatoes, sprigs of broccoli and a creamy whiskey sauce. Our grandson had the fish in batter with chips, it looked meaty,crispy and so tasty! To finish,we all had the chocolate brownie, chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce, it was incredibly tasty, hot and melting in your mouth with a layer of crunch on the outer part of the brownie. A chef who truly knows their trade! Service was first class...friendly, professional,helpful and the comfortable surroundings giving privacy and class! I can't wait to return if im honest. The price for dinner was great too...£22 each for 2 course main and dessert! Drinks on top..it was worth every penny!

El pescado estaba fresco pero rebozado demasiado grueso. El postre de Eton fue bueno. El personal era amable y servicial, aunque un miembro del personal había persistido. O. lo cual fue bastante malo. No volveré a cenar en este restaurante.

Beautiful food, great location, super service and very good value for money

Booked in the restaurant for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We weren’t staying at the hotel but did add that we were celebrating upon booking. We arrived early expecting to have a drink at the bar but the table was ready for us. We received a complimentary glass of champagne each on arrival. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t have done more. They even sorted us out with a special dessert to help celebrate the occasion. The food was to a high standard and the portion size was perfect. Altogether a fantastic meal and exemplary service.

We were out for anniversary dinner staying at your city hotel . My husbands fish was disgraceful the batter was brick hard nearly burnt and fish inside dry The manager apologised and said we would have free deserts the table in front of us had the same problem burnt fish . On receiving desert my husband had cheese board and I chose churros mine were brick hard not edible we ended up sharing the cheese board . We decided just to ask for the bill and leave . On checking our bill after we left the manager had taken £4 off our bill not both deserts as advised Disappointing food after being many times stayed at the hotel

The staff were pleasant but the restaurant was scruffy and the food was poor. One starter was uncooked and the sauce in both the king prawn starter and the cod main tasted like a jar of passatta had simply been poured over them . I big disappointment.

Lovely restaurant. Staff friendly. Service slow, starters and main very nice apart from portion size. Main was haddock with chips. Fish was massive, too large for 1 person. Churros for desert were rock hard and over cooked. Couldn't eat them. Floors dirty and stairs Wells very grubby with built up dust and dirt over several days. Nothing a good brush and mop would not put right

We booked the bar area for New Year’s Eve. So wish we hadn’t! When we booked we were advised by booking platform that there was only space in the bar. When we arrived, bar was full and we ended up in the restaurant. For New Years Eve and for a place in Grassmarket, this place had zero atmosphere! When seated, we had to wait 20 mins before anyone came to ask if we wanted drinks. We then gave our drinks order and had to ask for food menu. No one had previously come to give us a menu! Four of us were dining. The tap water was brought to table but we only had 3 water glasses ! Despite there being lots of tables, we were sat in a corner where the cutlery etc was kept. Meant waiting staff kept knocking us as they passed and meant our conversation was interrupted regularly by clattering cutlery. The food itself was bland. None of us finished our dishes. The sticky sauce with the prawns was literally stuck to the plate. Couldn’t dip prawn in it at all. During meal, not a single member of staff asked us how the meal was. And remember we were sat in an area where staff walked past us to get cutlery and tissues. When we finished meal. No one came to take plates away .i had to go to restaurant reception area to ask for it to be done. I also had to go and ask for the bill. And for the privilege of this non attentive service…. The bill arrived with a gratuity added to it! I asked that it be removed as we had had no service. The bill was adjusted but no apology and no one asked why we felt there had been no service. I go to Edinburgh regularly. This is the first poor service I have had. I will not be going to this place again.

We dined at the bar restaurant which was empty when we arrived & remained empty whilst we were there. The soup was good, the corn ribs were lacking. And arrived in a normal time. The main course (a chicken sandwich & fries ) arrived 35 minutes later - in an empty restaurant. As I did not share in the appetizers - I waited 45 minutes to eat my chicken sandwich. The manager in charge at the time was not apologetic in the least when I asked about my food & when it would arrive. Then to top it off, a 12.5 % service charge was added to our bill which I was also choked about. We asked it to be removed which they did. I have not had this poor of service in a very long time. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.

By far the worst service we have had in 10 days of travel. Nico the manager on duty was by far the worst leader on duty. Our food came 45minutes after ordering. Nico seemed to not care. No wonder the resturant was empty. I would NEVER recommend this place. Plus we paid 7 pounds for 4 chicken wings , unbelievable then the bill came with and they wanted to charge 12% for a tip. To be far the supervisor on duty remover that charge but did not offer to comp or discount our meal. You need to look at your staff and how they treat your tourist.

Over 20 minutes before drinks arrived. Wasn't busy. Food nice, but could get the same at any pub. A bit disappointed after really looking forward to dining here.

When I arrived was told the kitchen was closed because hen seated in restaurant. Got drinks service was pleasant my steak was overdone. Long wait for desert. Not offered tea and coffee. Seemed a bit chaotic

Not only did the staff congratulate us to our marriage, they also offered us two glasses of prosecco. The food was amazing, with fusion kitchen that was Indian-Scottish. We loved every single plate we got. The taste was unusual but really good with a twist in every bite. If we ever are in Scotland again, this will be a restaurant we'll revisit. We cannot thank the staff enough for the welcoming atmosphere and the amazing food we got.

We booked for the Singh on tour menu and we not disappointed, the quality of food was excellent and being tapas style allowed the kids to try all of it.

Small menu, which isn't a bad thing but food was just ok. All served really quickly. Chips and butter curry sauce seemed to have the same sauce as the beef curry as oppose to butter sauce. Didn’t have our first choice of Rosie wine, second choice wasn’t chilled. Left over chips and other food lying under the table from previous customers even though the restaurant was quiet. Not quite the standard I was expecting from Tony Singh’s restaurant. Nothing special.

The Tony Singh Road Trip was fantastic, the food was delicious and really well priced as well as the waiting staff being lovely

Restaurant is in Apex Grassmarket hotel. Food did not impress. My spouse did not like the heat of the Indian spices used. For me it was ok. Menu needs more explanation of what is being offered. Hard to understand what you will receive as a main course. It was like several appetizers. Not our cup of tea

Food was excellent and, we felt, good value for money. The staff, however, did not seem coordinated at all and seemed somewhat inexperienced. The individual who showed us to our table subsequently came and asked if we would like anything else. At this point we hadn’t even received a menu. We then ordered, and were approached 5 minutes later by someone else asking to take our order. Mains did not arrive at the same time, but were both hot and very good. Slider dessert was fabulous. The hand drier in the gents was broken and no paper towels available

Waitress was friendly, Dossa Chaat was lovely and well presented. Curry sauce and fries came far too early before we got Vuhra and CT pie, aware it comes as made but not ideal. These dishes were tasty but small. We saw others get Haggis pakora which we nearly had, it was very badly presented, 3 lumps with a paper cup of sauce, we did say to server that it would be very disappointing looking for tourists perhaps trying Haggis. My husband asked for water whilst I was at the loo, which I changed from bottled to tap when it arrived, as we have the best in the world, and were having other drinks too, unfortunately this remained on the bill, and noticed after paying. It could not be refunded ? so that plus the 12.5% tip was a bit much. Everything was OK but that's about it.

We chose off the Tony Singh menu. Both dishes, the curry of the day and the BBQ belly were very tasty. The restaurant is a bit of a modern day cavern with no real ambiance, it is however the design of the building at fault here. Service was patchy, never was asked if we wanted a drink other than water. A different dish was produced, but this was corrected by another waitress. All in all, we thought our meal was good and can recommend if you want a quick bite during the Fringe.

We felt that the menu was confusing. We were told that it was tapas type dishes but prices told us that was probably not the case. Some dishes were definitely main courses but were not presented in a way that made sharing easy. We had to ask for sharing plates, they were not offered to us. Although we enjoyed the food it was a disappointing experience. If someone asked for a recommendation iwould say yes but with reservations.

Booked restaurant for an anniversary dinner only to be disappointed NO GLUTEN FREE options apart from grilled fish and salad .. the server had to check with the kitchen every time I asked about a dish. I would have thought in a high end established chain staff would be knowledgeable about the dietary needs. Was really disappointed as I have eaten many times at RADGE CHAT owned by TONI SINGE and never had an issue with my diet , SONNY always explained what was available GF and food was always amazing..That is the main reason why I chose the restaurant at APEX. I would still recommend that people should try the restaurant as the menu looks good. Just so sad it did not cater for any GF diner .

Trap tourists. We should have stayed on the other side of the street. Expensive and poor quality dishes. Servers who insistently push consumption. Burger with reconstituted and dry meat, uncooked fish and chips and ravioli bathed in butter. Water bottle at 4 livres for 750ml. To flee.

The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere the staff were really friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. Our meals was excellent and made our trip to Edinburgh an even more enjoyable experience.

We were staying in the Apex City hotel in Grass market, which doesn't do dinner, so walked along here instead. Service from the young team was excellent and we were very well looked after, which made us feel valued as customers. It's not fine dining, but everything we had was well cooked and presented. I especially enjoyed the sea bream. Excellent bottle of S African Chenin Blanc to accompany for under £30. Sitting by the window gave us a view of everything going on in the busy Grassmarket, while enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere. We returned a second night during our stay and received the same service and attention.

Service this time was quite slow on the drinks there was only one other couple getting drinks. Food service was excellent. Cocktails weren't up to standard of my last visit. But staff were nice I will be back

The restaurant wasn’t busy so didn’t have any kind of atmosphere, we asked for still water and this did not arrive until another e member of staff asked us if we had been asked, we then ordered and after a while the gentleman came back and asked what we ordered again as he had forgotten so we had to again wait for quite a while before getting our starter. Food was okay however would have expected better for the style of restaurant. Staff were pleasant.

Ok but menu very small not much to choose from. Food ok but Laska was not correct, not udon noodles but thai noodles more a sweet and sour soup with very little meat. Expensive for what it was.

The sea bream was good, but the laksa ramen was not laksa (no coconut) and the noodles were not ramen noodles, more like a hot and sour soup with rice Thai noodles. There was a lot of chicken breast . The hard surfaces meant that if it had been full we wouldn’t be able to hear each other speak. The service was kind of inexperienced but there was no service charge so we left 10 %.

Easy to book. Excellent services when we having dinner there. Foods were nice and prices were good too. It was very busy that evening 14th February the noise was a bit high. We totally enjoyed that evening. Will sure to go back for lunch or dinner.

Staying at the apex city of Edinburgh which is sister hotel up the road we’re told we can use apex Grassmarket so went down to try breakfast was told it’s super busy was not at least 12 tables empty it’s small restaurant when the lady found out we were staying at apex up the road oh if you wait 10 mins we will have a table still 12 tables empty terrible service considering the apex we stayed at we couldn’t fault

Hogmanay - this place has a nice view of the castle. Sorry to say that the service was too efficient. Don't usually complain about that, but we asked for drinks. Before they arrived another waiter took the orders for starter/mains and wine. Within a minute, it seemed, the starter was on the table. At that stage we hadn't even seen the drinks. Eventually it calmed down and were served good and uncomplicated food. By the time coffee and dram was finished we had actually managed to stay 2h and could head off for the line to the consert in the gardens

Really good food at a great price. I would say this is an underrated restaurant.

We were offered a table for 21.15 the kitchen shut at 20.30 go figure.

The staff was great. We had a castle view table as requested, the only thing was there wasn't enough food on the plate,I had the ravioli , it was delicious and I could have done with a bit more ( I am not a big eater either).

Staff was a bit thrown off because we had an early lunch reservation, breakfast tables were not yet cleaned. The floor was a dirty too. Service was slow, maybe because of that. But the food was nice, not a bad experience overall.

Shambolic and rude service, we were asked to order our desserts before our mains had arrived as ‘the kitchen was closing’ at 8.45pm. Our first drinks order didn’t arrive until after our starters had been served. Food was mediocre, steak was over cooked and potatoes under cooked.

My experience is in two halves. Let's talk about the food. I can only comment on what we ordered. The Indian furr furr crackers was absolutely rubbish. The crackers were of substandard quality. The Bhel puri didn't have any puffed rice in it ( which by the way is one of the main ingredients of this preparation) The vuhra was nothing more than a lamb burger patty wrapped in a tortilla. The Asian salad and the Vietnamese chicken was ok. Now let's talk about the service. The waitress asked if we had been to Tony's before. When we said we haven't she faced me and said, "I'll explain how it works and then you can explain it to the rest in your group" Being a bit surprised I told her she could explain it to all of us together. Her response was, "well looking at her (and she's pointing towards my mother), I didn't think she understands English" This was an inexcusable assumption made by the waitress and frankly very insulting to my mother. The irony was everyone at that table can speak more than one language, English being one of them. Ideally we should have walked out but decided to give the food the benefit of the doubt. That turned out to be a big mistake. We did speak with the assistant manager before we left that place. He admitted that it was wrong to make such an assumption and promised to speak with that person about it, at he end of the day. I had high expectations of this place but was left hurt and confused at the prejudice we faced. I won't let this experience tarnish my first visit to Edinburgh. But I will definitely not return to Tony Singh's restaurants.

I asked for English mustard and was dirceted to a row of small baskets at the far end of teh dining room, to rummage among the jars for myself, without luck Lacklustre service, mediociore food and highish prices - not worth it

Booked for a late dinner at 9:00 after a 12.5 hour tour. The description said bar seating, but didn’t specify that the kitchen closes at 8:30, so we were turned away at the door. Incredibly frustrating experience and the restaurant staff (part of the hotel where we were staying) made no attempt at accommodating us at all or making recommendations. Horrible experience and it ruined our final night on vacation in Edinburgh.

We stayed here for work reasons and out meal allowance was for the hotel restaurant (metro) I had the bruschetta for a starter and chicken and chorizo main Both dishes were very good quality however I asked for different potatoes and I didn’t get them. The ambience of the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff were attentive but I found myself having to repeat everything to them. Not my first choice to grab a bite to eat but the food quality cannot be faulted. Price point was a bit steep too, £9.50 for a cheese board seemed a lot.

My partner and I were doing the set 2-course menu for £18.50, one to have starter and main and one to have the main and dessert. For starter we shared the deep fried salt & peppered squid which was nice but nothing special. They offered us sauce but did not have any tartare, only ketchup and mayonnaise which we did not want with squid. For main, I had a beef burger which was possibly the worst & driest burger I have ever had. It did not taste fresh but more processed so I only ate a bite out of it. I did expect a better quality burger however this was probably on par with Wetherspoons quality. However, my partner had the chicken burger and said it was very nice and had no complaints. We were due to have the cheese board for dessert but after my main I asked to cancel this as I was not expecting much and we were not too fussed about it. Our booking was for 7pm on Friday and we were the only ones in the restaurant until a family came in half an hour later so not much atmosphere. But we did get a seat next to the window so we could look out which was nice but there was no view of the castle as stated on their website. The staff were pleasant and polite, but during the end of the dinner a tray of glasses was dropped near our table and glass smashed everywhere which was not ideal. Not necessarily anyones fault but it did not help the existing experience of the place. Overall, I was quite disappointed.

Food was great, price was on the high side. Staff were asking me to repeat myself and didn’t get my order right.
