Extremely overpriced, the drinks were horrible, the music played was very loud and not in line with the experience, pop music blasted above us. Our host didn’t interact with us or get involved like we seen other hosts do, and it all felt seriously underwhelming.

This experience is definitely worth doing if you are a magic lover! The perfect mix between a drink and an original experience! The place is simply magnificent and the potion masters are very pleasant (thanks to Austin). You can also just go for a drink at their bar, their potions are just as superb! I recommend 100%

AMAZING! I booked the potion making with a friend and it was such a great experience! Eve was brilliant. It was a nice atmosphere and we had so much fun. Highly recommend this experience! We didn’t have any food so can’t comment on that.

Eve walked us through our potion class and we came away with three great drinks and an incredible hands on experience. It was very fun mixing our own potions, and each one had a fun effect (fire/dry ice) that really sold the "potion making" experience. Eve was funny and quick to help us, I would highly recommend the cauldron for any fans of magical experiences or lovers of chemistry and fine drinks.

What an amazing experience!! Eve gave us the most phenomenal experience. As a Canadian we will definitely be bringing our friends and family back to experience this fantastic activity.

I absolutely loved The Cauldron! On my last night in Edinburgh, I walked over to The Cauldron to have a nightcap. I was instantly greeted and sat in a table with an array of drink options. I ordered the Blob and within 5 mins or so, the bartender came over to tell me the story of my drink and watch its magic happen. Overall, a very memorable experience and yummy drink! I highly recommend.

We went to try the magical drinks experience. With huge expectations. The place is beautiful and super decorated. But there is no class. It's a somewhat an unmotivated interaction. There is no explanation of the magic/effect of each drink. You choose by your 'heart' expecting whatever comes. Our order was wrong, which left us a little lost with the "menu/class" explanation of the portion. A pity!

We came to this place to make the day special as it was my husband's birthday who LOVES Harry Potter. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was perfect! Our potion master RUTH was gorgeous and so cute. It felt like I was actually in a potions class! Good drinks. Highly recommended for Harry Potter lovers or to live a different experience!

Me and three friends had a great night here on Halloween, fun drinks and a really cool place to hang out, and we had an amazing server by the name Freddie, he was very kind to our table and patient with us struggling to pick drinks, great service from him making us absolutely want to come back 👍

The Halloween potion making was probably one of the coolest things I've ever experienced! The decorations, our server Roe, the tasty cocktails - everything was magic and so much fun. Thank you for an amazing time!

Cool place. Nice decor and cosy. I have a few points which I think are important to share. The drinks were a bit over priced. £26 for a cauldron drink… bit steep. We appreciated the drink but would be nice to have some drinks on the side to add to it or mix it together just to keep it more interactive and interesting. Didn’t get magic tricks as we were getting our tricks that were told we would get. For a themed venue we expected a bit more magic personally (especially since it was Halloween). Perhaps a scary witch walking around and telling people stories. The atmosphere was also not great and we were there around 8 pm so might just be because it was a bit earlier? Overall it was okay… and I wouldn’t rush to come back.

What a brilliant experience we have had at 'The Cauldron' this evening. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was magically perfect, and our server Ruth couldn't do enough for us. The potion making was so enjoyable and something neither me or my partner had done before. We had 3 drinks plus a shot, which were all delicious, I definitely could have gone back for another! I would highly recommend making a visit if you are in the area for a magical, tipsy experience. Thanks again to our lovely server, Ruth!

I could run away to this magical bar. Definitely worth a visit for all witches and wizards at heart.

If I could give someone a tip, I would say: don’t go to this bar. The drinks are not good (tried both cocktails and mocktails). The “magical” aspect of it is fun, but five seconds later you find yourself having to drink an awful drink :( our mocktails looked like normal sodas, and the cocktails were pure alcohol. Additionally, we went to several other places in Edinburgh where we drank cocktails/mocktails/beer and this was by far the worst and also the one we spent the most money in. Go to this place if you ONLY want to make influencer videos for your Instagram with drinks that have bubbles/smoke, but otherwise are terrible. Only pyrotechnics, no flavor.

Amazing experience highlighting recommend to anyone looking for an immersive experience. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. I would recommend to book before as the place is very popular.

Went for potion making. We had Millie as our potions master for the experience and it was absolutely amazing. Great value for everything we had. We went for the alcohol based package and you get your moneys worth for sure. Mille made the experience and was chatty and helpful the whole way through. Definitely be back :)

Loved every second of this experience!! We did not want to leave 😄 the atmosphere was magical, our host was hilarious and we thoroughly enjoyed working together to make our drinks (which turned out really well and tasted great!). The place (including the bathrooms) were spotless and very well taken care of too. Honestly, for us this is a MUST experience if visiting Edinburgh, especially during autumn to get into the whole Halloween spirit (no pun intended 😉👻🍹).

The place looks nice and adds to the immersion. The potions were fun, but the preparation was lacking. Where it fell short was with the staff. The 'potion master' wasn’t even dressed up, nor was any of the other personnel. They don’t seem to know what roleplaying means, and it really lacks in that department. Just put everything in was told. like they dont care. It might be fun for kids, but it’s really expensive. We were kicked out right after the potion brewing, without even a chance to order other kinds of cocktails. Maybe try some DnD (dungeon and dragons) and learn to roleplay more—it would help.

We came for the new menu and it did not disappoint! The cocktails were super experimental but so damn tasty! All the staff so lovely and dressed up to get us in a spooky October groove.

This was a super fun experience and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting some silly fun on a night out with cocktails. Regardless if you are a fan of a certain magic related franchise or if you want a low key nerdy activity in a lovely place with friendly staff and cool music give it a try. Eve was the most attentive potion master and I haven't seen anyone appear out of thin air so fast. Looking forward to returning for more (the picture is messy because we were having tons of fun)! Try the Mulica, tremendous cocktail.

First time visiting, my wife and I had a great time. Out host Eve was fantastic very attentive whilst giving us space to soak up the ambience and experience. We didn't have food but didn't want to put 1 star there should be an n/a option. The cocktails we made and ordered were very showy tasty. If you fancy something different I highly recommend giving this place a shot. We did the potion experience, we were lucky to have a table to ourselves we chose 5pm on a Saturday night place was busy but not where you couldn't move or hear yourself. We would definitely give this another visit.

Magical experience, would recommend!

Had a fantastic experience at The Cauldron with Ruth, our potions instructor! She took great care of all 20 of us indulging our inner wizards and alchemists! The experience was a joy that turned what might be the simple act of mixing a cocktail into an exercise in creativity and fun. The drinks were especially delicious and felt like you really had a hand in making them special and unique without the worry of 'doing it wrong'. I cannot recommend the experience enough, and highly recommend you try it with some friends. Just remember to bring your best wizard voice, add some creative hand gestures and added ingredients; like whispering secrets or hopes and dreams into your cauldrons along with the provided elixirs. My only complaint is not having one of these closer to home!

OMFG Ruth was the absolute best potions instructor I have ever had. Snape is a muggle in comparison. But the robes aren’t robes they are actually cloaks so that could be changed!!

Came here with a hen party and had a good time! Our potion master Ruth was enthusiastic delight! They were fantastic at giving the full experience as a non-alcoholic driver and being incredibly considerate of allergies.

This place was a wonderful experience. Our host (Ruth) played her part to the hilt, and I honestly learned some new herbal/liquor combinations I'd like to experiment with.
