See below FUTURE patrons who wish not to be taken. Original email sent to establishment, we went back in December of 2024 and still dealing with whomever they put in charge of fielding customer concerns/refunds. All they cared to offer was 13.50GBP when we paid 196 US for a service that was not rendered. Don't mind spending money on a service procured. Which was not the case. To whom it may concern, Please see attached receipt for reference. We attended the potion making class and we're extremely disappointed with the experience. We received utensils that were unclean and had to return to kitchen. There were several components missing. From one of the magical creature/dispensers beings out of service, to components missing from the drink/mocktail recipe itself. Service was slow and the whole process was very unorganized. Not only did we ask for things repeatedly during the process, it also took forever to get the things we needed to finish our drinks. We did not even receive our drinks that we paid for in advance. I think it's a wonderful concept when it can be executed properly. But if it's unorganized and slow to service. It makes for a very frustrating experience. The least we can expect is compensation for an experience that just wasn't had. Thank you for your time Mimi

We had a wonderful time at the Cauldron, our potion master Roe was a definite highlight! Interactive, good drinks, great service and a fun “witchy” atmosphere—would definitely recommend!

This evening we went to The Cauldron for potion making event and I have to say it was great experience for me and my wife, and for our son, 9. Our potion instructor and waitress Eve did her splendid appearance. She had to explain us the rules, made sure of safety for all of us customers, she was there every minute once we moved our magic wand. Not only our 9 year old son was engaged, myself and my wife have become a part of this bright event. All of our potions came out so tasty and picturesque. We have bought another wand in the bar shop, our son was delighted. Love this place! We have to come back! Fair play to Eve!

Really cute evening making our own potion cocktails. Austin was great and he made the experience fun and silly. I personally would have liked a bit more choice when it came to what cocktails we could make. We only had a choice of 4 and 2 of those contained whisky, which we dislike. Besides that, we are happy we did it :)

Me and my boyfriend were celebrating my birthday. Our host Austin was amazing, along with the rest of the staff who helped us have a great time. From the greeting to the food and drinks, everything was awesome. The vibe, the atmosphere, the attention and of course, THE MAGIC 🪄✨

First time in Edinbrugh, I did the potion making class, some friends at home told me about it and it was awesome. Our server (Eve) was super enthusiastic and we had a lot of fun.

I did the potion making class and the service was great. The people were very polite and enthusiastic. Eve, our server, was great, very enthusiastic and tended to our every need.

Bring your camera and be prepared to film a very unique experience! The atmosphere is intriguing and inviting and the staff were great. We stopped in for a couple of potions around 8pm. The staff were friendly and politely informed us of the 2 potion drinks they wouldn’t be able to make for us. One of them would certainly have been my choice but the two drinks we did get were delicious and presented well. They also offer potion making classes if you’re looking for a more interactive experience. We actually had such a good time here we booked an experience at the London Exploratorium location.

Our Potion Master Ruth was simply amazing and very helpful and instructions were very clear and halal options are available (non alcoholic) potion making which i definitely recommend.

Had the best experience with our potion master Eve. The atmosphere is a mix of mystical and spookie with a touch of woodland. Eve was very informative and engaging would highly recommend.

Enthusiastic workers, me and my boyfriend got the cauldron drinks making deal for £90, for the price I wouldn’t say it’s worth it but I loved my time here, we got put in robes and the drinks we made were fun but tasted like Ass, the vibe was amazing and I really liked the decor ❤️

Roe was amaaaaazing. Such a fabulous and enthusiastic potion master. Love her. We didn't have any food but this was an amazing experience. Love that it's queer owned and staffed with LGBTQ+ army too. Will absolutely be back. Will recommend to everyone.. Roe is a credit to the staff too. We loved her.

Bought as a present, and it was well received on the day and during the experience! Ruth was a joy, and a great potion teacher, Ruth’s customer service was beyond what we expected. The atmosphere of the venue as a whole transported us into a medieval tavern as we wore provided cloaks and channelled our inner child. The cocktails were delicious and unlike anything I’ve tasted before. Again, thank you all.

We have just visited the cauldron in Edinburgh, eve was our potion master for the evening and we have had the best experience here so far. She was attentive, enthusiastic and made the whole experience worth while. I wound recommend anyone to visit this pace and use your wand to make a few potions. 🧪

If you’re into actually good cocktails and mixology - not worth it. Cocktails we had were average at best and I felt like they tried to save that with the “show” they pull off for each drink. Other than that super nice ambience and staff was also friendly. But also I had to order three times bc the first two drinks I wanted weren’t available, can happen ofc but also came across unprofessional to me and for that the drinks are too expensive.

We discovered this very cool and unique place during a rain storm on New Year's Eve, and we're we glad we did! The setting is designed to be reminiscent of a magical wooded home, and the drinks are some of the most unique and unusual concoctions we've ever had. Our waiter, Adrian, was fantastic and took a lot of time to explain the various drinks. The Nosferatu is hard to define, but it tastes kind of like liquid garlic bread masquerading as a Manhattan. It was amazing. The Blob's presentation was as fantastic as its taste, bubbling up and smoking. The Pop-Ular and Curiouser and Curiouser were also both great drinks. All the staff were very friendly and engaging, and this is a place I plan to return to.

Just avoid. Nice idea, but poor execution. The potions you make taste awful, we didn't drink any of them. The jokes feel forced. You choose which 2 portions to make out of a list of 4-5 options without any idea what you are ordering- both potions we chose included pouring stuff in some jars and that was it. We paid 50 quid for nothing, after we made the last potion we were told we have 15 minutes to finish drinking and go.

Absolutely wonderful place to visit whilst in Newcastle. From the moment we walked in, the amazing decor made us feel like we truly were in a magical place. Our potions master (Ruth) was amazing from start to finish. Her immersive storytelling was brilliant and we lived that every so often she would break character to make a joke that had us laughing out loud. Each and every drink that we had was full of flavour and enjoyed thoroughly. This includes the two that we bought on arrival whilst waiting for our session to start ('Pop-ular' & 'Serum of Loose Lips'), the drink we had from the Unicorn & both of the cocktails we made as part of the potions class ('Snowspelled' & 'Summoner's Siphon'). Highly recommend 🧙🏼‍♂️🪄🔮

We did the potion making experience which we really enjoyed. The staff were really enthusiastic and the cocktails we made were brilliant. A good amount of leaving you to enjoy it while still being involved to help. I would absolutely recommend this experience and would go back again.

It wants to be a nice place for Harry Potter fans, but the drinks are not good, the staff is not very nice and there were a lot of things needed for the potions missing. It felt rushed and not magical at all. For the money you spend you’d expect a better treatment

Hi team, I have been trying to get in touch with you for the past week and not had anyone reply. It’s ridiculous. I got a reply instantly when I needed to pay for the experience but nothing when I have an issue.

For Harry Potter fans this is just the perfect place! We tested the experience of making our own potions. You choose 2 cocktail recipes to make yourself in a booklet. The ingredients are prepared in advance for you and all you have to do is follow the recipe. The recipes of course have magical surprises in store for you. Superb immersive experience, I loved it. We are well supported throughout the process as well. And the cocktails are delicious (the doses are loaded). On the other hand, it obviously has a price, 60€/person and everything is in English

Came here our first evening in Edinburgh, arriving later in the evening we were keen to stay nearer our hotel and this was a few doors down, cracking venue, friendly staff and interesting cocktails, especially their signature cocktails. We might have gotten lucky as it feels like it does get busy, we got seated but the next group to arrive were turned away, I do not think there was space unfortunately.

The experience is really cool and magical—the potion-making, the equipment, everything is of very high quality. However, I purchased an extra cocktail and mocktail on the website along with the tickets, expecting there would be time to enjoy these drinks during or after the experience. Enjoying them during the experience is not possible because we already have the welcome drink and two others in sequence. At the end, we were given only a few minutes to finish and leave the space, even after I insisted and spoke to two different people to explain that we had paid for an extra drink and needed time to enjoy them. This made us feel unwell as we had to drink too quickly. Additionally, it is not clearly stated that the mocktail is just juice—it has no special effects or unique features and is definitely not worth the price.

Extremely overpriced, the drinks were horrible, the music played was very loud and not in line with the experience, pop music blasted above us. Our host didn’t interact with us or get involved like we seen other hosts do, and it all felt seriously underwhelming.

This experience is definitely worth doing if you are a magic lover! The perfect mix between a drink and an original experience! The place is simply magnificent and the potion masters are very pleasant (thanks to Austin). You can also just go for a drink at their bar, their potions are just as superb! I recommend 100%

AMAZING! I booked the potion making with a friend and it was such a great experience! Eve was brilliant. It was a nice atmosphere and we had so much fun. Highly recommend this experience! We didn’t have any food so can’t comment on that.

Eve walked us through our potion class and we came away with three great drinks and an incredible hands on experience. It was very fun mixing our own potions, and each one had a fun effect (fire/dry ice) that really sold the "potion making" experience. Eve was funny and quick to help us, I would highly recommend the cauldron for any fans of magical experiences or lovers of chemistry and fine drinks.

What an amazing experience!! Eve gave us the most phenomenal experience. As a Canadian we will definitely be bringing our friends and family back to experience this fantastic activity.

I absolutely loved The Cauldron! On my last night in Edinburgh, I walked over to The Cauldron to have a nightcap. I was instantly greeted and sat in a table with an array of drink options. I ordered the Blob and within 5 mins or so, the bartender came over to tell me the story of my drink and watch its magic happen. Overall, a very memorable experience and yummy drink! I highly recommend.

We went to try the magical drinks experience. With huge expectations. The place is beautiful and super decorated. But there is no class. It's a somewhat an unmotivated interaction. There is no explanation of the magic/effect of each drink. You choose by your 'heart' expecting whatever comes. Our order was wrong, which left us a little lost with the "menu/class" explanation of the portion. A pity!

We came to this place to make the day special as it was my husband's birthday who LOVES Harry Potter. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was perfect! Our potion master RUTH was gorgeous and so cute. It felt like I was actually in a potions class! Good drinks. Highly recommended for Harry Potter lovers or to live a different experience!

Cool place. Nice decor and cosy. I have a few points which I think are important to share. The drinks were a bit over priced. £26 for a cauldron drink… bit steep. We appreciated the drink but would be nice to have some drinks on the side to add to it or mix it together just to keep it more interactive and interesting. Didn’t get magic tricks as we were getting our tricks that were told we would get. For a themed venue we expected a bit more magic personally (especially since it was Halloween). Perhaps a scary witch walking around and telling people stories. The atmosphere was also not great and we were there around 8 pm so might just be because it was a bit earlier? Overall it was okay… and I wouldn’t rush to come back.

Solidly the most fun cocktail experience I think I’ve ever had, made all the more amazing by Eve who was there to help out and walk us through the whole process.

What a brilliant experience we have had at 'The Cauldron' this evening. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was magically perfect, and our server Ruth couldn't do enough for us. The potion making was so enjoyable and something neither me or my partner had done before. We had 3 drinks plus a shot, which were all delicious, I definitely could have gone back for another! I would highly recommend making a visit if you are in the area for a magical, tipsy experience. Thanks again to our lovely server, Ruth!

I could run away to this magical bar. Definitely worth a visit for all witches and wizards at heart.

If I could give someone a tip, I would say: don’t go to this bar. The drinks are not good (tried both cocktails and mocktails). The “magical” aspect of it is fun, but five seconds later you find yourself having to drink an awful drink :( our mocktails looked like normal sodas, and the cocktails were pure alcohol. Additionally, we went to several other places in Edinburgh where we drank cocktails/mocktails/beer and this was by far the worst and also the one we spent the most money in. Go to this place if you ONLY want to make influencer videos for your Instagram with drinks that have bubbles/smoke, but otherwise are terrible. Only pyrotechnics, no flavor.

Amazing experience highlighting recommend to anyone looking for an immersive experience. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. I would recommend to book before as the place is very popular.

Went for potion making. We had Millie as our potions master for the experience and it was absolutely amazing. Great value for everything we had. We went for the alcohol based package and you get your moneys worth for sure. Mille made the experience and was chatty and helpful the whole way through. Definitely be back :)
