West End Bites in Leicester

First and last time eating from here last night. As other posts have said chips were dry and raw dispite waiting about 20 minutes for them to be cooked. When I ordered he seemed to try and flog extra drinks at a discount (lemon coke) I'm guessing it was going off. Whilst I was waiting the man said he'd just made a batch of samosa's for a bulk order, and asked if I'd like to try one whilst I wait. I said go on then thinking it was a free snack. He then said 3.50 for the portion. Obviously I paid and thanked him. 🤦. Also I have never been to a chippy that has boxes in the hot section where the food is usually waiting. There was also a ping of a microwave, maybe defrosting something. Basically they need to either focus on cutty or chips.

Very friendly and when I asked if the chips were cooked with other foods they gave me the option to pay 0.50p to have them cooked separately, I jumped at the opportunity. Chips were lovely. I'll be back to try their channa masala and dal!

Moment I walked in I was welcomed with a lovely smile! Syed was absolutely lovely and wasn’t shy in explaining the menu and prices. My meal was absolutely lovely and I’ll definitely be coming again Side note the macrons are absolutely lovely and made from scratch so definitely try them out He also makes brownies as you can see on the photos 😍

Almost* raw chips that are dry as anything and tasteless. So sad! At least 50% were actually raw. Re-cooking in the air fryer at home didn't make them any more edible, unfortunately.

The best briyani I ever had I recommend it this place and ask for that white sauce no one well regarded it thanks

Awful fish and chips, I walked in on the guy cooking the fish and chips in what looked like a wok. Ended up giving it to the dog and going somewhere else. 2x fish and chips was £30 it was £6 cheaper round the corner and far better.

I had a very tasty chicken biryani, like home cooking which Syed cooked with extra veg in it, because I just wanted one dish. Because I was chatting to Syed and was staying in a hotel, I accepted his offer to eat in the shop as nicer than eating alond in a room, but it's not designed to be an eating place. And the price was a bit steep for one dish even if better quality than most takeaways.

Not a proper / normal fish n chip shop. Friday night, no one queuing, Fryers not on. I got fish & mushy peas. He insisted on ‘a deal’ I said I didn’t want. The fish was NOT a piece of fish battered as you’d expect from a chippy. It was like Iceland freezer ‘chip shop’ pre battered fish, fine in a freezer. Rip off. Will not return

I've been a couple of times. The food was well prepared but cost around £15 for a fish and chips while the price advertised in the shop and online is £7 for a large fish and chips. Pricing on the menu should be corrected to allow customers to make an informed decision.

Sadly disappointed with the fish and chips but the other things on the menu maybe better, I am sure! Remember this place when it used to be Zarcone’s you see.

Excellent fish and chip shop - it's like going back 70 years! Real traditional taste. Well done! We had a large haddock and chips each. Freshly cooked, the fish was delicious in a light yet crunchy, crispy batter. The chips were hand-cut, golden and non-greasy. We probably should have ordered the small portions...but the smell of fish and chips when you're hungry...! These have got to be the best fish and chips I've eaten for decades! Worth the trip from Canada. The shop also serves a wide variety of Indian foods for take out and will make special occasion cakes and decorative fancies (eg macaroons) to order. Edit: The next night we went for Indian takeout. Very good quality, and large portions - the naans are big enough for two people!

I like West End Bites, i like the shop and the customer service they are very nice they are freindly, and thier food is so imazing very Delicious 👍 i ate chips with fish and chicken briyani in different time and i highly recommended the shop for every one.

Looks were deceiving but the food was incredibly prepared and best customer service I’ve had in a while.

Worst experience ever. I bought chips and peas. From peas very bad and funny smell was coming and it was not good to eat. This shop is very costly as well . Please do not go there. Don’t Keep this shop as a last option even. I was thinking to complain in consumer service about quality because the quality of food was really bad and i have thrown more than half food.

Fish and chips was not as good as my previous visit. Tasted like cooked in reused oil. **Old review** I tried fish and chips here and they were magnificent. The chips were tasty and fish was good quality. The price is also quite reasonable. I will be trying other food and updating my review.

Maaaaate. Robbed of £20 for oven chips and microwaved sausages. And that was with "new customer discount". Traditional fish & chips it ain't, know what I mean. If the old married couple (the Zarconi"s) who ran it for 50+ years could see the state it's in now they'd flat out die. Red flag when you can't see, hear or smell any "fresh" food being cooked. I should have just left. Avoid at all costs

First and last time visiting this place. Chips were just fried oven chips nothing like proper chippy chips, sausages were pink and undercooked and was so overpriced for what it was. Plus all the cans of drink were from multipacks 'not to be sold separately', I wonder what else they're doing to cut costs for themselves while over charging customers.

Having food from this place is like having a great experience. Quantity and Quality is their forte. Being new to the town I am glad I found this place. Chef Syed is such an inspiring person as well. They have a plethora of options as well. Definitely a local gem. Must visit place!!!!!

Went in to shop to order chicken wings and chips as advertised for £3 but was told that was now only one wing. But he could do 6 wings and chips for £5. The wings were absolutely tiny. I was robbed. It was a mocrowave tastless job too. I think he makes the proices depending on how he feels and what he can get away with. Go somewhere else. There is plenty around in the area.

Ordered burgers for the first time from here and would be the last. £16.50 for two burgers and chips with drinks was not a problem but they tasted like they had been microwaved rather than put on a grill. Shall stick with Wetherspoons and similar in future as you get more for your money and better quality. Prices always vary a lot compared to the menu and often go up a lot more than expected. Sorry to say I won’t be going back.

I wouldn’t recommend at all. The prices were made up different to the menu. When I got my food the chicken was pink , chips were frozen and doner meat was absolutely awful and dry. Yoghurt mint was watery and curdled. Bite size portion, very small. We took the food back and he refused to give us a refund and was very racist. We was shouted at and wouldn’t beileve us. He also told us the burgers and chips was cooked at 80 degrees, no wonder pink and frozen minimum should be 160 degrees. Very unprofessional and awful food!

Would not recommend. Chips are half frozen, chicken burger was pink, donner meat overall was just disgusting, yoghurt mint sauce watery and curdled. Told him how I've just come out of hospital with food poisoning and I'm pregnant and he said he doesn't care and he's not a doctor.Staff didn't want to give refund, told us he checks the burgers at 80° !!! No wonder why it's pink! And chips are also heated at only 80° hence why they were half frozen. Said the yoghurt mint is that way because of the heat? Yet has fridges for them? Tried to charge nearly £30 for the smallest portion sizes instead made his own prices up pretending to 'help' us out. He was also very weird with my friend looking at her chest area offering her to work there.

Made a great chicken curry with chappattis. Offered us warmed chocolate brownies as we waited too.

Was passing by and decided to grab some kebab on my way. I initially thought this spot was just a fish and chips shop and was about to leave, but Bossman told me he also did kebab. He really went out of his way to sort me with some banging kebab and spicy chips. Will definitely recommend this spot👌🏾 thanks again Boss

Had a chicken and mushroom pie, chips and curry sauce. Fantastic food. Very polite, friendly staff and helpfull staff. The chips were cooked just right cripsy on the outside and fluffy in middle. First time going to west end bites Definitely going again.

THIS IS NOT A CHIP SHOP. WAS TOLD IT WAS "CHIPPY CHIPS" this is not chip shop chips. The curry sauce IS NOT CHIP SHOP CURRY SAUCE. DISGUSTING WATERY SAUCE THAT IS COLD. Chips come in a box not chip shop paper and portion is very small but price is very high. THIS BUSINESS IS SUCH DISGRACE COMPARED TO PREVIOUS ZARCONIS .

My choice as the chef caters for pure vegetarians. He will always ask me to wait while he fries in seperatecoil to cater for my preferences. I'd recommend to anyone who wants to taste real food.

I had the Tarka Daal and zafarani pulao rice. Amazing flavours and authentic indian cooking.

This establishment serves very poor food. Chips are frozen and deep fried and the sausage was inedible, smelt acidic and possibly even microwaved. Avoid.

The food tastes lovely definitely recommend this. I always get my takeaways from here even though I’m vegetarian it still tastes amazing
