West Derby Takeaway in Liverpool

I don’t know if there is a new chef here but the food is getting worse. Just ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, fried rice and chips and I was absolutely shocked by it!! The chicken was so tough, completely inedible and the batter was soggy and not cooked on the inside. I used to love the crinkle cut chips that they have served for 30 years since they opened and now they have changed them, they were straight, greasy and cold. Fried rice was burnt. It all went in the bin and we had to order from somewhere else. The customer service matches the food, disgraceful. I wouldn’t even give it 1 star

Once possibly the best Chinese takeaway in Liverpool, new owners have been in place a couple of years now and sadly while prices have gone up quality has really gone down, the chicken foo yeung was a highlight at one time, now it’s the toughest chicken I’ve ever tasted, curry like water, soggy chips and the foo yeung with just four small prawns. Made a decision not to visit this place from now on after getting food from them for the last 20 years.

Ordered online and was told the order would be delivered in 25 minutes, two and a half hours later was still waiting tried cancelling but had already paid, never use them again

Right guys, honestly gorgeous food and by far the best Chinese takeaway for what I order personally which is as follows: crispy chilli beef, Singapore fried rice, salt and pepper chicken balls, salt and pepper Sui Mei, char Sui chow mein plus the curry is banging. I can’t personally comment on the other meals as I like when I go to the Nando’s, I just always get the same order. However as my family have been going to this Chinese since I was a kid, I think I’m just so used to extra long wait times (4.5 hours on New Year’s Eve!). So what we do now is order on the yo yo app in advance for the earliest possible delivery; knowing it will likely arrive a couple of hours after opening. The wait time has never been any different, they are hugely inefficient in their tiny kitchen; however the food is worth it in my opinion. Plus at least you know every single item is cooked fresh not reheated. If you want your food quickly then order elsewhere, but if you are willing to wait for something better….order from here.

ordered a meal at 17:30 was told it would be 90 minutes 3 hours later no meal if you ring up to collect they do not cook it until you arrive and pay for it they do not accept card payment over the counter tax avoidance i presume. corrupt establishment.

Ordered online for collection and this is 2nd time this month I've arrived 20 minutes after it was meant to be ready by and had to wait a further 30 & 40 minutes. They clearly have an issue with cooking in allotted time and should send text/email when they actually cooking food. The food is nice if a little greasy. I won't be going again as can't do with poor customer service

After a decent (not even good) start to their own app in respect of delivery it’s back to the same old same old. The food is the best locally. No question. But the service whether you order via their app on the phone or go into the shop is horrendous. We started going elsewhere as a result of this and will probably do so again. If they can’t even be honest and say it’s going to be two hours due to high demand to allow a decision to be taken, rather than wind all customers up by false promises, then more fool them. In short, food great, service and expectations as bad as it gets.

Best food ever here, but don’t order delivery, you’ll be waiting for a very very long time. If you’re ordering, order over the phone then go and pick it up. They don’t start cooking it until you get there. The chips are the best chinese chippy chips ever - crinkle cut. Our order consists of Chicken chow mein, Char Sui fried rice, chips, salt & pepper chicken wings and soup. Best chinese.

We've used this place for many years and are rarely disappointed. Food tastes fresh with plenty of mixed vegetables and portions are generous. Even better now it delivers. Not full of the SMG like other Chinese. Quality food and really reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

Avoid coming on Saturday night. Ordered at 6.30 and we were told to collect at 7.15. Waited until 8.30 to get it. Others waiting with us had similar stories. When the staff were asked they kept saying the food is ready ... 15 mins later still not ready. Not coming back here as are many others I spoke to while waiting for my order.

The food is amongst the best there is. I like sweet n sour or Cantonese Duck. The chips are also great and very home made. Yes, the wait is long, but worth it. They cook like a restaurant rather than the usual mass produced food you can sometimes get . If you haven’t tried it then I would advise you do unless your in a rush. I either order a delivery. Or sometimes I go and pay for it, then go back in in 20 minutes. Like most take always it’s mainly slower at the moe popular times.

The food is excellent and the sweet and sour chicken or King Prawn is one of the best you can get. If you go at a busy time then you can wait a while, but that's also true elsewhere too. Why not phone your order ahead? Don't go there for an instant portion of chips. I can only suspect the negative review is from a rival / jealous chippy in the area as every one else gives 4 -5!

I’ve been going to this Chinese takeaway since I was a child and the food has always been consistent and they have kept their prices reasonably low. I can’t comment for some things on the menu as I get the same things that I personally enjoy when I eat from there. The wait time can be lengthy at times but reduced if you telephone your order in first. I’ve always had good customer service from the cashiers and despite living the other side of the city now this will continue to be the Chinese that I go to.

The meal I received were authentic and tasty. My personal favourites are the chips. You do have to wait for quite some time, but I guess that's the cost for nice food. Out of all of the takeaways that I've been to, I believe that this is one of the most underrated ones.

Pedimos un pollo agridulce con arroz frito media, media patatas fritas. Extraño sistema - darle su pedido a un cajero que lo escribe, entonces se abre una ventanilla de poco atrás de ella y presiona el papel. Luego sentarse y esperar por su comida. . . y esperar. . . y esperar. Debe ser normal que esperar un largo tiempo ya que hay un cartel en la pared que avisa a los clientes de que no abusen de la cajera para esperar ya que no es culpa de ella. Suficiente, pensé. La comida seguramente debe ser la pena entonces. ¡Incorrecto! ! Fue la peor comida para llevar comida china que he probado, y yo no soy exigente! Las bolas de pollo eran enormes, pero sólo una pequeña cantidad de pollo encerrado en un hard rock cubriendo un extraño empanada mirando sin problemas. Me parecía que si lo hubiese sido fritos hasta 3 o 4 veces anteriormente. Tratando de cortar con un cuchillo involucrado en la placa les tiro. La salsa era muy vinegary gloop, así fluorescentes de color rojo que me pareció que era radiactivo. El arroz era insípida y en una bandeja muy pequeño acompañado por unos chips arandela ondulada, los congelados tipo de supermercado no adecuada. patatas fritas chippy Normalmente me volveré a comprar esta misma comida china de otros 3 comprada en la zona y dividirla con mi marido. No este, la porción era muy pequeña. No puedo creer que esperé tanto tiempo y pagar por la basura. Sin duda, no te estará haciendo de nuevo.
