Dropped in for a spot of lunch as we were passing through. Friendly staff. Decent menu at reasonable prices. Freshly produced food with decent portions. No WiFi.

Basically came in to pass the time. But it is a haven of peace in a town where most places are plagued by the post-modern muzak of tinny pop music.

Lovely place to meet for a coffee and catch up.This is the second or third time I have been here and each time I've enjoyed the service, which is very good and the cakes are lovely to. Great assess for a wheelchair or in my Mum's case a walker.

After a hectic weeks of work I had stumbled across this little town hall cafe and it was a real delight. Fresh cakes and coffee served with a smile. WiFi code given so I could continue work and really felt a local I was treated that well.

What a fabulous community cafe. Very happy friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The hot chocolate and tea were piping hot and the homemade cake was delicious. Everywhere was clean and the loo was too. Lovely thank you.

We came across this when visiting the areas and had a lovely lunch freshly prepared. The staff were very friendly and the paintings in the gallery were lovely to see. It was good to see that this is also the local cinema and the ticket prices were excellent. Well done Wem. I gather this is a real community hub.

My husband and I came to Wem to visit some of his childhood haunts. He had been brought up near Wem and went to school there. I had looked on the web for a coffee bar but had not spotted this one. However, luckily we parked almost across the road from the Town Hall and were delighted when we walked in to find a warm and welcoming environment. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a light lunch, before going in search of Edstaston Church and Whixall Moss. We so enjoyed the first visit that we returned in the afternoon for tea and then looked round the art and craft displays. There were some inspirational pieces there and it was exciting the meet the creator of the stamp craft, who served us coffee! I ended up buying some gifts for friends, which were unusual and very reasonably priced too.

Popped in on a busy Saturday morning and had the most superb home made tomatoe soup, they also catered for my 'Gluten Free' guest with a sandwich and cake.

Went on a Monday and seeming that practically everything else was shut, this was the best/easiest place to go. Average prices in the café, paintings to look at and believe there were toilets there as well. Definitely do not go to Wem on mondays or sundays unless you literally just want a sandwich and a trip to the local supermarket.

Lovely staff and very helpful. This venue doubles up as tourist info, cafe and cinema. Good prices. I asked for 2 bacon sandwiches as I had a dog that could not go in and they obliged. Good place as little else is open in the town on a Monday morning in February!

The soup was a meal in itself. Very tasty, I would highly recommend it, however as it is always homemade and fresh on that day you never know what is going to be on the menu. I had chick pea and tomato - mmm. Hopefully they will make it again soon. Good ambience and free wii fi.

This place is really impressive for a modest sized rural community, the venue acts as a community and arts hub & the cafe in the airy foyer manages to be warm and comfortable in spite of it's size. Called in for coffee & cake & was pleasantly surprised at the quality of both.

We used the cafe during the wem harvest market this year, The food was a good quality, they even sent someone to the shop as they had run out of the filling we wanted, but instead of saying we dont have any, they went to the effort of getting it. A very nice touch that is missing for a lot of places these days.We only had a sandwich and some drinks, both were very nice and fairly good value for money. Would happily come back the next time we are in town.

We were cycling in the area and having difficulty finding a suitable pub stop for lunch. As we were passing through Wem we noticed the Town Hall had a café. How glad we were that we stopped to investigate! Such friendly people running it - and cyclists too. Very attractive foyer (as there is a theatre here too - in fact it is a 'multi use venue', boasting a cinema as well) and everything so clean and good to look at. A good menu choice of sandwiches, soups, pasta, cakes, coffee and other delights. My husband wasn't feeling too well, and they showed every sympathy, offering paracetamol for his headache, and a simple vegetable soup for his lunch while the rest of us ate more heartily. Cannot say enough for this café. If you are passing through Wem, this is the place to go for a light lunch. It is worth mentioning that it is open in the evening too and that it is open for drinks throughout the day.

We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.

Have been coming here for over a year and their Panang curry is the best! Portion sizes are generous for price - we always have enough leftover for a good size meal the day following. Staff is friendly too

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.
