We have just had a 3 generation dinner and it was excellent. The staff were laid back but also attentive. The food was fresh and full of flavour. We particularly loved the Hong Kong style dishes. Great value and we are looking forward to coming back

This would be good for any occasion, food was nice. but if you don't like coriander, best to avoid the minced meat and aubergine pot dish as it's got rogue coriander hidden in it!

Fantastic fusion of scottish and asian dishes. Great beer too!

Lovely food and friendly staff. Took one star off atmosphere, for the noise, as we struggled to chat easily over the other people in the room, but this is due to the size of the place and not a massive issue. Would definitely come back!

What a lovely cosy hideaway place, my new fave of Edinburgh, Cocktails are amazing espesh the “rhu-barb wire”😉 we had calamari and cauliflower to start followed by monkfish yellow curry special and Udon noodles, all amazing🫶 then mint choc chip ice cream, the best ice-cream I’ve ever tasted, delish and can’t wait to go back 👌x

Ambiance and plating is really nice. We walked in and were seated upstairs. I ordered the monkfish and it was decent. The pork skewers were pretty good. It's more of a fusion asian place and is not the most authentic type of cuisine but if you're looking for asian-scottish food, this is a solid place to check out.

Friendly staff, great bowl options and solid pricing on scotches. There are 5-6 different sauce types you can request to customize your noodle bowl exactly how you like it. What’s great - the food was very tasty when it was served at dinner and somehow got even better as leftovers the next day!

Food was ok. Not including rice with the mains and then charging almost £5 for a small bowl and also sticking on a 12.5% service fee automatically feels like gouging.

The food here is always a really high standard and the team are friendly, service with a smile every time. So many dishes on the menu I could recommend, top favourites are the chilli garlic squid, the gyozas, haggis wontons and the jhei cauliflower.

Really incredible little place. Book a table ahead and make the walk if you’re staying anywhere near the Wee Buddha. Katsu Chicken is unreal and really good veggie options. Kids loved it too!

Went with my family - we were late but they fitted us in - friendly efficient staff. The food was fantastic - Thai Green Curry best I've had - obviousley all cooked fresh, crisp veg etc. My daughter normally picky but loved the Katsu Curry chicken. Got my favourite lager on tap - ASAHI. Can't fault this place at all - wish it was in my town.

Great food. The cauliflower was amazing. The udon and veggies perfectly cooked and the curry divine ! One of the few places that I would easily come back to try the rest of the menu

Exceeded our expectations. Menu seemed fine but not particularly interesting, but everything we had was terrific (Singapore noodles, veg udon, deconstructed pulled pork, drinks). Service was excellent.

It was just OK to be honest. No complaints just not memorable and wouldn't rush back. Don't know why they crammed us all upstairs when the ground floor looked empty. A bit noisy when full. Horses for courses came to mind and maybe this just isn't my kind of place.

Ate here for the third time yesterday evening and all four of us were blown away again by the quality of the delicious food, super friendly staff going out of their way to amend dishes for our teenagers, prompt smiling service throughout even just before Christmas on a busy night. Every time we go, we come out smiling and vowing to come back sooner next time. Seriously our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh. The crispy spicy beancurd is one of the best I’ve eaten and if you like chicken wings, you need to try them here. And the curries, wow! But leave room for sesame balls at dessert…

Delicious fusion food. We loved everything we ordered. Special mention to the fried bean curd and aubergine/ pork dish. We will definitely come back!!

The staff could be more friendly. They were treating us as if we were poor students 😅 just because it was cold and we were in funny hats.

Absolutely fantastic… food was incredible… extensive vegan menu, from which taste sensations were to come in all three courses. Great advice with the menu and service in general, and a lovely atmosphere. Loved it.

Checked this place out with one of my friends after a tiring day exploring the city and getting rained on lots. Super lovely and laidback yet also really attentive staff. Really appreciated the dedicated vegan menu as it makes it much easier to look through - wished the main ingredients were listed on the menu, as some dish titles were a little vague and I wasn't sure what to order! Though I asked one of the waiters and he was really helpful and could list off-the-bat what was in the dishes, so it wasn't too much trouble. I ended up ordering the vegan Wee Buddha curry. The portion sizes were massive and that alone justified the price point in my opinion, it took me like over an hour to finish my dish. Even moreso though, the food tasted wonderful - the veggies were super fresh and flavourful, and the rice had that perfect sticky texture that restaurants don't always get right. The food was piping hot when it arrived and I had to let it cool for quite a while, which tends to be a fairly reliable indicator of quality, in my experience at least - and it was true on this occasion for sure. We also didn't have to wait very long at all for our food either. Also worth a mention, the vibe and decor of the place is really nice & relaxing! And not usually a fan of music in the background, but it was an appropriate volume and whoever was on playlist duty was working overtime because the songs slapped, it was tune after tune. Overall, I'm pretty glad I sorted out where we'd eat in advance of our trip, as this place didn't tend to come up on any suggested Maps searches or in recommendations I was looking at for veggie/vegan food. Which I'm really surprised about given how good it is, and the really decent number of dishes on offer. Underrated I guess? Hope it gets some more hype! <3

Really bad service, they charged for 12.5% service fee for doing nothing. I wouldn’t recommend.

Good atmosphere. However it’s confusing to see a restaurant in Edinburgh charging 12.5% of service fee without doing anything.

A good selection of vegan and vegetarian food. We only had a table for an hour and a half and felt very rushed.

No takeaway, and kitchen closes at 9PM. I'm sure it's great food.

The most delicious food! We went for a birthday and really enjoyed the evening. The service had a slower pace but I really loved having space to chat. Highly recommend.

A lovely welcome by friendly staff. We ordered spring rolls, katsu chicken, and the pork mince sharer. More than enough for two. The food was served piping hot, arrived quickly, tasted delicious, and we struggled to finish We had booked a table thankfully. For a Wednesday night, it was busy and a dozen folk were turned away as they hadn't booked a table....fully booked! Highly recommend you visit. The food was lovely, the staff friendly and helpful, and it was great value for money.

Liebe Menschen, super authentisches und leckeres essen und gute Auswahl an Getränken, sowie essen. Gemüse nicht latschig sondern schön knackig. Auch für veganer und Vegetarier gibt es eine gute Auswahl. Alles im allem also Perfekt. :)

Excellent food, excellent music, lovely staff, cannot recommend this place highly enough.

The japaneese noodles were good. But the little bowl of steamed Pak choi with a teaspoon of oystersauce was absolutely not worth its price 5£50. Neither was the beer. Felt cheated.

Fantastic little Pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. Amazing food and service. Great range and a fantastic atmosphere. They're also family friendly and gave our toddler lots of attention. Highly recommend for those looking for this cuisine in Edinburgh!

They turned us away at 9.15 pm on a Tuesday evening when it says that they’re open from just 5 pm to 10 pm. Was really looking forward to a hearty meal but sadly had to leave empty stomach. They even refused to give us a meal to-go. Very laid back attitude - poor experience

Consistently the best food in the whole of the city. My favourite restaurant. Will never get sick of visiting it. A whole separate vegan menu! The owner works super hard and the staff are lovely. Just the best place

Booked this as the menu is great for vegetarians and had many choices for us. The restaurant itself is small but felt like they didn't try and fill it with as many people as possible which we appreciated, it meant that the vibe was nice and you could still talk and hear each other. The food was amazing, tasted fresh and well made. We ordered the veggie haggis wontons, pak choi and sriracha cauliflower as starters and then the Singapore noodles and black bean tofu. Everything was great, would love to come back.

Wow what a lovely little find! We were hungry for some oriental food on Thursday night so decided to call the nearest place we could find and this was it. They squeezed us in for an early dinner. I had the wee Buddha curry and my bf had the monkfish Thai green curry. We ordered garlic squid and gyoza and cocktails. All was absolutely delicious, I can’t fault it. Our server, unsure if his name but had a nose piercing, and curly hair cut short on top. He was such a sweetie and made us feel so welcome, in fact all the staff did. Great place and would 100% recommend.

I dined here with my wife and daughter. The food was excellent and the service first class. The staff member recommended the Thai Green Curry and this did not disappoint. They serve IPA on draught. You must visit if your staying in Edinburgh!

Fantastic food and great service. For two, we had 6 items from the small plates which was plenty and meant lots of different flavours. Highlights were garlic chilli chicken wings and Singapore noodles with courgette. A small restaurant but they didn’t pack people in. We will be back

Food is served at this place. I’ve never been as me and the chef have since been arguing about the origins of Neolithic fashion and it’s associated identities. There’s only crying now.

We waited two years to get into this restaurant - but only because our visits to Edinburgh usually coincide with the staff holidays! This year we struck lucky and got a booking for 6pm on a Friday evening. The options given to us were 6pm or 7.45pm, so the restaurant seems to run a 2 sittings per evening policy, but maybe not because we saw customers going in at 5pm when we were on our way to a local pub for pre-dinner drinks. On arrival on the dot of 6pm, we were ushered upstairs (didn't notice if it was full downstairs) and seated at the window but on top of a table already occupied by 4 people and the rest of the seating space absolutely vacant! There were plenty of other tables available, including tables for two, but we made the mistake of not objecting on the spot, and meekly took our place hemmed in between the occupied table for 4 and the window. Bizarre customer service, given that the restaurant did not fill up in the time we were there. Lesson - don't sit down at a table you are shown to if you are not happy with it at first sight. It's too late once you are seated. Anyway, the food here is good, there's no denying that. Our only complaint (apart from the seating arrangement) and it is one that seems to apply to many restaurants, particularly Asian-themed establishments, was that some dishes were over-salted. Service (apart from the said bizarre seating arrangement) was pleasant and efficient.

If you’re looking for a hideaway, a hangout, a zen place to dine, drink and disclose your days adventures, then this is your match. I’ve eaten in this place for over 20 years under 3 different owners but Ken and his team are the real deal. Casual dining at its best. You’ll also love the interior design touches by Ken’s better half too. It was lovely to be back.

We were introduced to Wee Buddha by some friends, and what a treat it was! We had a delicious meal in this absolute gem of a restaurant, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the main restaurant areas of Edinburgh, but still in very easy walking distance. We will certainly be back!

Cozy vibes, good food, friendly service! Definitely happy we found Wee Buddha and would recommend to anyone looking for a taste of Asian food in Edinburgh. We had the vegetable Japanese Udon, Vietnamese noodles, spring rolls and gyoza. All four dishes were delicious and full of flavor. For dessert we went for the sticky toffee pudding with a scoop of biscoff crunch ice cream (an incredible combination!)

I visited the wee Buddha last night and loved it. The restaurant itself has a nice interior and a relaxed atmosphere. The food was great, we shared a variety of starters then had the udon noodles and the ka pow chicken. It was all lovely but I would especially recommend the garlic and chilli squid and the chippy sauce chicken wings. The prices were all very reasonable especially for the large portion sizes. The service was really good and there was also a large range of gluten free options. Would highly recommend.

We came here tonight on a recommendation, and we were so glad we did. The restaurant was tucked away, small and perfectly formed, the service was pleasant and efficient, but most of all the food was exemplary. We had the loaded chips and chilli ribs to stat and they were delicious with great flavours. Then for mains the chicken Buddha curry and a prawn Ka Pow all washed down with a few uniquely styled cocktails. We just about forced down ice cream for afters and left full and very happy. Well done to Ken for his great cooking and gem of a restaurant. See you next time 👏🏻👏🏻

Great food, great staff. What more could you ask for?

Lovely ambient cosy place with amazingly tasty food however, I was disappointed to have our bill placed on our table at ten past ten (we were made aware when ordering our sweet at ten to 10 pm they close at 1030) then to be asked if we wanted to pay our bill whilst still eating our sweet and the noise of the cutlery being put away really spoilt our experience. Sadly all totally unnecessary as we finished our sweet, paid our bill and left at 1020 pm and were not the last table.

One of the best meals i have had in a long time.,Great friendly staff team but the big stars in the kitchen. Honestly the best squid i have ever had and the mince and aubergine hot pot out of this world. Very reasonable prices and great atmosphere. Can’t believe i have waited so long to try!! Will be back soon and probably have the the same but hopefully can sample other dishes as well as looked great.

Very casual, good for a quick meal. We had the Zing Zen cocktail and it was delicious. Ordered the squid, the cauliflower and the Thai curry. All were tasty, service was good.

Given vouchers for my birthday for this “trendy” Asian restaurant in Jamaica Street, off Queen Street in Edinburgh. Maybe the restaurant needs to concentrate on it’s food rather than the description it gives of the ambience, because the food was average to good at best....

We really enjoyed the Wee Buddha. I love the quirky doorbell to enter and the laid back minimal decor is nice and inviting. The staff were all friendly, food was good and portions were generous. I can’t fault the Wee Buddha.

Ruined the day and no offer of asking why or helping! To make it worse my partner received a very rude email saying its people like us that are causing businesses to close! No it is the awful attitude towards people that are causing businesses to close. Shocked and appalled at the treatment we recieved for a simple mistake/misunderstanding!

What a fantastic little restaurant. A tiny building tucked away down Jamaica Lane. The feel is vibrant and far from stuffy. The staff are very welcoming and very helpful when it comes to the food, dishes can be made hotter or more mild according to your taste. We had chicken wings, Singapore noodles and the traditional Thai green curry. All were just amazing and good value. Definitly be back again.

Als ik niet op google had gezocht naar een restaurant had ik dit tentje nooit gevonden. Leuk ogende tent. Bijzondere aziatische gerechten. Noodles waren lekker en ook de japanese noodles, maar de springroles hadden een vreemde smaak. Maar misschien zijn wij geen fijn proevers :-)

Second time around and the food and service spot on! Authentic, quality dishes and great options for meat, vegetarian and vegan - we didn’t try the infamous fries so we will return but the chilli beef and calamari plus curries were delicious and the stir fry hot!!! Definitely recommend! Our new fave Thai spot in Edinburgh.

Food was amazing - the wee buddha curry is so lush - and good portion size given the price. They also had a separate vegan menu which was great. Wide selection of interesting cocktails, though an underwhelming nonalcoholic offering. The only odd thing was that we felt a bit rushed (ordering, getting the bill before we asked etc).

Nothing fancy, just brilliant food. You won’t get better Asian in Edinburgh let alone Stockbridge/New Town. And gluten free options for my wife to boot. Can’t recommend highly enough.

A beautiful place to have a meal or quiet drink in peace. Always packed with people and a regular haunt for local stockbridge people. Not tried the food but highly recommended. Love the big wooden statue as you go in. A beautiful place for the local community to admire and enjoy. I have a beautiful wooden bhudda plaque I would love to donate to hang on their wall.
