You choose all the contents you want and then choose the corresponding soup base. Everything is delivered to your table ready. It was a super tasty hot pot, absolutely recommended!

Where is the bubble tea place on the first floor? If you want to go up to the second floor, there is a malatang restaurant! The staff and owner are friendly, and the malatang is delicious. However, when I looked at the ingredients section, it was disappointing to see that the freshness of the vegetables had dropped significantly. There are many unfamiliar ingredients such as liver and frogs, so those who are sensitive to these areas should be careful when choosing ingredients. Still, overall it was a delicious and friendly restaurant. It's worth going when you're craving something spicy! I chose level 2 and they said it would be about as spicy as kimchi, but it was moderately spicy. However, if you use the wrong amount of ingredients, it can be expensive, so you have to control it carefully. I guess the price range is a bit high. Oh, I didn't order a drink, but they gave me tap water! If it's not spicy enough, you can add more red oil from the self-service bar. It doesn't have peanut sauce like Korean malatang, so if you need it, you can get it from the self-service bar and add it too! I added both and it was perfect.

I didn't like the place. The bill goes up very quickly, the waitress was not particularly pleasant. The food really is so good for the price. I regret eating there.

Takeaway order: I ordered various vegetables for my hotpot soup. But the food I received was mostly potato noodles, barely any vegetables. Very disappointing

The first floor is a bubble tea shop, and the second floor is a malatang shop. mild spicy=Korean malatang 0.5~1 level medium spicy=Korean malatang level 1.5~2 You can add chili oil and peanut sauce from the free bar, so if you don't like spicy food, choose a low spiciness level and add extra spiciness. I chose mild spicy and added chili oil and garlic! It tastes like a Korean malatang with beef bone base and is delicious! They ask if you have any allergies and are very friendly. Recommended if you're traveling to Edinburgh and craving something spicy👍

Amazing little place, chose your own ingredients, ox bone base had tons of flavour, nice and quiet, only soft drinks, highly recommended, had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down the though.

Great spot for authentic hotpot! Excellent service at very reasonable prices. You choose how much you want, prices are determined by weight. See the attached pictures. Picture 1 shows a mid spicy broth and Picture 2 is an extra spicy broth. Would highly recommend!

Found it eventually, Greyfriars Bobby straight ahead, turn right down the street, it's on the left not far down. Food, which you choose, cooked... scrumptious, my 6yr old granddaughter can't wait to come back. 😋

Shortly after enjoying a tomato hotpot, whilst looking round the NMS, I started to feel some stomach upset, which was followed shortly by an explosive visit to the toilet. After recovering, I made my way over and managed to secure a refund. This is particularly unfortunate as I enjoyed the food, and the time in the restaurant, with speedy service and a tasty meal. I'd been to another restaurant in the chain in Cambridge and enjoyed my experience. Unfortunately due to this terrible experience with food poisoning I will not be going back, despite being able to secure a refund.

I went there yesterday and the place was crowded so I waited to be seated but when the seat was available instead of giving me a seat they gave to Chinese people the seat who didn’t reserve the seat. This was totally unacceptable.

Lovely restaurant. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Especially with how the concept is they are very helpful on what to pick and what the items are. The food is delicious and fresh. I will definitely be coming back soon :)

Poor quality food, Place was dirty and messy. food was very expensive for some instant noodles few fish balls as you are most likely too pay £22+ for some instant noodles and a few fish balls. Wouldn't be coming back anytime soon. Completely rip off!

I love malatang. I eat so many times. I am fully aware of what to expect when I go to malatang places. Here's very dirty. I should've just left. I already picked up a few food, that's why I stayed eat it. But it's really terribly dirty. Table, food, containers, everything. Lucky that I didn't have sore stomach. I won't go back

What a wonderful experience. Select all the ingredients that you want in your hotpot, hand it over to be weighed, choose a broth and a few minutes later a steaming bowl of loveliness is delivered to your table. Absolutely delicious.

First time trying hot pot and I was surprised by the variety of ingredients they have, I even tried a frog leg. The staff was very helpful assisting how to mix the ingredients and serving it. The food was delicious, tasted very authentic and aromatic. The hotpot is well served and you can share it.

You choose everything that you want in the hot pot (2.90 £\100g) and then you choose a sauce(around 2.50) . I got the sweet sour, which was very tasty and also pretty spicy. Service was friendly and correct. Food was amazing, and according to chinese standards there was a lot of tripes and meat/fishballs to choose from. My girlfriend had the ox soup, I préféréd the sour one. I have to say, prices are expensive and it's hard to calculate. We got around 700g per person, and we paid 32 GBP each. Even if you take the minimum of 400g,it is hard to spend less than 20 GBP. But in any case recommended!

This hotpot place is a hidden gem in Edinburgh. I was craving for Asian hotpot during my visit, and I found this small restaurant on Google. It’s located on the upper level of a milk tea shop. Honestly, I wouldn’t have known there is a hotpot place here if I just walked by. I was lucky to grab a table before this place became crowded. They only had 4-5 tables. You basically get whatever you like from the display fridge then weight and they will cook for you. It’s £2.95/100g. You also have to pay another £2 for broth base. They also have a sauce bar with a clear instruction how to make some yummy dipping sauces. I ended up paying around £25 for my hotpot bowl but it was well worth it. I got ox bone soup base and it was super tasty - truly hit the spot!!! Staffs were very sweet and attentive. It’s a perfect spot for a raining and cold day in Edinburgh. Highly recommend for anyone who visiting Edinburgh and craving for hotpot like me.

Loved the individual hot pot and loved that there was a boba shop below. The actual restaurant requires taking stairs and the restaurant is small and cozy. You start by grabbing a basket and choosing your own meats and toppings. Then it gets weighed, you pick your broth. Then it gets taken back to the kitchen. Cool concept and so delicious and perfect for a cold windy day!! Cannot recommend enough !

Taste pretty good at beginning but at the end feeling saulty, minimum order 400g which is too much for me…

I've eaten on both branches a number of times mainly because my children enjoy the novelty of it. The staff are warm and friendly and the food is nourishing. However, the decor is tired and dirty. There are often random cardboard boxes and cleaning materials abandoned everywhere. I've grown up in hospitality and feel it's important to keep the venue spotless (especially the toilets) as this can affect a customer's enjoyment. Personally, I feel uncomfortable eating in a environment that needs better upkeep.

Casserole Wang offers a decent hotpot experience. While not totally authentic, their broth and ingredients are flavorful. However, the price point that they charge is rather unreasonable for the portion size and the overall dining experience. Despite this, I'm giving the establishment 4 stars for the range of ingredients available.

We came here for a business trip from abroad and had a great meal here. The service was extremely polite and patient and made sure we felt comfortable all the time. The food itself was authentic and delicious and we left satisfied and full. Highly recommend!

We first found out about Casserole Wang through Instagram and was surprised to find this hidden gem in Edinburgh! This place deserves 5-stars because the food here was extremely tasty, but more so we give this place 5-Stars because of our introduction to the hot pot experience by Dan, our hostess! She went out of her way to explain the “effective how-to hotpot” at Casserole Wang, showed us how to make the sauce accompaniment, and overall, was super kind to us. If you want a solid experience with great food and hospitality, come down to Casserole Wang! We’re definitely coming back! PS In summation, this place was effin brilliant!

Just eat in restaurants with a lot of Chinese people, and don't make a sound when you eat. Except for Leeds, the Chinese food is delicious everywhere! The milk tea downstairs is also delicious! I ordered the Cake Bree Oreo Milk Tea🧋! Let’s open Chinese restaurants all over the world!

Great experience! I love hotpot but rarely find people to have it with me. This place is perfect if you want to have hotpot alone or of course in a group as well. They have the biggest selection of fishcakes, tofu and lots of really nice ingredients that I hadn't seen before. Very friendly and helpful staff as well who talk you through the process of creating your own hotpot 😍

It was my first time here today, and I did not regret it! The staff were very welcoming and explained the order process to me, I really enjoyed being able to customise my hotpot so much, and to try out some ingredients I hadn't had before. The food was freshly cooked and tasted amazing, and the mildly spicy bone broth base was just spicy enough to be comforting without being overwhelming. A thoroughly positive experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

This was the perfect place for a slightly cool day. I really like this style where you gather the ingredients you want in a little basket, and then pick a soup base. My medium spicy ox bone had just the right amount of numbing peppercorns for me. The service was great. Friendly and helpful staff... Even with a busy rush going on. I would go back for sure.

Staff were all friendly and nice. Food was a bit pricey. There was a very rude and crazy old Chinese couple yelling at the staff which made us uncomfortable. You should blacklist them, I hope the staff are okay after that incident.

I have been to this place for several times. The host is always friendly. Edinburgh doesn’t really have an authentic Sichuan hotpot, and I consider this as an alternative solution. Although I feel the ingredients of the food, especially the meats, can still be improved.

After seeing this on Instagram, we went for dinner on a Saturday night and were happy that we called ahead of time to make sure there would be room, because it is clearly popular! There are lots of options for ingredients, including vegetables, meats, seafood and noodles - you could go many times and always try a new combination. It was reasonably priced for the amount of food and experience, and the staff were helpful for recommending how much food to put in your basket. There is also a stand to mix up your own dipping sauce, which is free! This is a great option for authentic Chinese food, whether you are by yourself or in a party. The solo hotpot means that you can tailor the taste to suit your own, which is something I haven’t seen in a hotpot restaurant in Scotland before. I recommend a pairing it with an iced lemon tea or a bubble tea, the latter you can buy in the tea shop downstairs. I was however disappointed that the staff did not let me order the malatang soup base, even though I asked a couple times and tried to explain that I like the flavour. This may have been because I look white (I am half Chinese), and I understand that it can be a very shocking taste to people who have not tried it before, but it did make me feel hurt for the staff to just smile and ignore what I was asking for. I was given the “medium spice”, which was very mild, but still delicious, so I will be back again next time I am in Edinburgh and will hopefully try the spicy flavour soon.

Not only was it bland but I somehow had shrimp in my hot pot. I am allergic to shrimp. They did remake my bowl however the ingredients were not the same, broccoli disappeared?! Felt ripped off seeing as I’m paying for the weight of the broccoli but never got any of it, not being able to weigh before paying is also weird, my bowl ended up being £24 but felt £10 worth My friend had a messed up bowl. Wait time was also long Was excited to try it but will not be coming back :/

After seeing this on social media, I was keen to go. I wasn’t disappointed. I loved the concept of choosing what ingredients you want, then they take your tray off to cook. I don’t eat meat and there was lots to choose from. I had a tomato based soup with noodles, pak Choi, beansprouts and tofu. Be hungry because it’s huge! I loved the selection of chilli oil, garlic, nuts and coriander to pick to your taste too. Can’t wait to go back.
