This restaurant was massively hyped on social media sites and we were looking forward to the dining experience. Unfortunately the food was bland and unappetising. It was also priced extortionately. Two soft drinks a starter and three mains was 86 pounds! Also did not like the waitress insisting that two mains was 'not enough' (it was) and the fact that there were four of them in such a tiny place. If you are a hipster and want to believe the 'Emperors New Cuisine' then go for it...

We were really looking forward to our visit to Pomelo after reading about the hand pulled noodles and adventurous dishes. Unfortunately, we found everything to be spicy - the same level of spice in every dish we ordered and not enough variation in taste. Perhaps it was an off night but we didn’t feel the menu was balanced. Such a shame as we’d been looking forward to our visit for so long.

I visited this tiny venue with few friends for a relaxed lunch in November. Unexpectedly this shyly located fusion restaurant provided one of the best lunch experiences I’ve ever had. Generous sizes, reasonable prices, extremely cordial staff and some of the tastiest dishes you can find in Edinburgh. Highly recommended

A frequent lunch spot for me. Their hand-ripped noodles are fabulous and the menu frequently switches up a little: today I had a fantastic daikon and meatball soup as well. It was perfect for a cold, wet day. The service is friendly and efficient, all the drinks are fantastic. I've been once at dinner too and the food was extraordinary, I can't wait to go again. One note: Tripadvisor currently has their address as 21C Strathearn Road, I'm pretty sure they're just at the 27 Sciennes Road location now. Don't miss out!

I visited their new premises on Sciennes Road today and I was absolutely delighted with their food and service. I shared a few dishes, including the hand ripped noodles, a a pork belly dish with rice and egg, the fish over a seaweed cracker..every mouthful was delicious. For desert I had the peach and mascarpone crumble - perfectly sweet, yet light. The young team were friendly, attentive and you can feel and taste their passion. It’s a small cafe with incredible food!

The hand thrown noodles with succulent pulled lamb was one of the tastiest dishes I've ever had and I'll dream about it forever. Tried some wee plates to start like aubergine and pickled cucumber which were also delicious. Very good value for money. Can't wait to go back - I believe the menu changes frequently

I visited this restaurant with a group of friends (students) in March 2023. Very well executed food and ambience and well-priced. When we arrived we were informed that it was BYOB that evening and we could get alcohol next door. We bought 2 bottles of beer for each member of the party (8 in total) which we drank during the meal. When the bill arrived, it transpired that there was a corkage fee of £5 per opened bottle. This amounted to £40 and effectively meant 25% of our bill was a corkage fee. The presence of this fee was not outlined to us, nor any other customers, when told about BYOB that night and was not written anywhere in the restaurant or website. In future, I think it would be appropriate to inform patrons of this charge as it’s difficult not to be slightly cynical about a £5 charge per beer. Think this was just an omission and transparency about charge would solve this in future but unfortunately put a sour taste on an otherwise outstanding meal.

This restaurant is a true gem. We ate here one weekend evening - four of us - trying everything on the menu. The choice was unusual, varied and utterly delicious. The staff were helpful, friendly, chatty (and as it's a byo had already recommended to us where to go to buy some wine)... just a perfect evening. The kind of place you don't really want to review, so you know you'll get a reservation easier next time....!!!

we still not go out to restaurants where waiters have no face mask as the virus is quite high, but we pass by and was not very busy when we came in ask them if they could not come to our table as we don't want to be served by anyone without face mask on the girl she was really friendly and had great service straightaway said no problem and just drop the food at the counter and we went to pick it up, she really listen to our concern, which is vey much appreciated, i give her 100% on this one no bad face no attitude just very helpful, We order the food which for us was not spicy at all even it says spicy but we don't think is spicy for people that really eat spicy food is really not that spicy, the food was good , we feel is a bit localised which is ok . All the menu have no original names so if one is use to original names one will get a bit lost, but the waiter took time to explain it , which was great. would say that as a whole experience is a great little place that reminds me of China little shops one of 2 dishes one chef and that's it. I have asked them if they could do the scallion noodle with the peanut sauce is not on the menu but they did it and I like it give it a try

We went for lunch, would recommend booking beforehand so you don't miss out. I had the hand-ripped noodles and my friends had the scallion noodles. Both dishes were delicious and the portion size really filled me up! ingredients tastes so fresh and you could even see the chef freshy make the noodles from the kitchen. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Place was clean and tidy. My lunch dish was about £8, brilliant price! Also we had the fresh iced teas (peach, lemonade, and dragon fruit) which were pretty to look at and tasted amazing, £4.

I don't know if I can find the words to describe how wonderful this place is! I booked for my husbands birthday on a Saturday evening. The place was small, warm and comfortable. We picked up some amazing beers from around the corner which was great and so handy. We had a selection of most of the dishes, each one was well prepared and absolutely incredibly delicious. Particular favourite was the special macaroni and kim chi pie. The food changes all the time but I've no doubt any dish they make would be delicious. The staff were so friendly and gave amazing service. Both just brilliant. Not only all of this, but they made a special birthday cheesecake for my husband. It was beautifully made, so tasty, and made us both a bit emotional! I know that's maybe dramatic but it was just so nice. On top of all this, the prices are so reasonable. Less than £50 for all the food, and we ordered enough for 4 probably. Thank you so much for such a lovely time. We can't wait to be back - we will bring friends.

Vicino alla stazione di Haymarket. Bisogna prenotare. Locale piccolo, frequentato da pochi turisti e da molti cinesi. Servizio rapido e cortese.

Cosy spot, revere a table through the website. Hade the butterfly prawns, crispy wontons, duck spring rolls and bao buns for starters. The butterfly prawns were the best oit of the bunch. For main we had the crispy beef. Okay food, not very flavorful but cost place and great staff.

The noodles were excellent thick and chewy. The braised beef brisket was full of flavour, tender and bitey. The broth was very flavourful. It retained clear nourishing quality. If you look for a freshly- made beef noodle soup in Edinburgh, look no further. It is a place you simply must try.

This was our first visit to The Chinese Manor House and it certainly won’t be our last it’s so refreshing to find a restaurant where the staff were so attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic, each had 3 courses and everyone was delicious. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was great. Lovely decor too.

Picked this restaurant because of the strong visual appeal and it did not disappoint with the colourful floral and black themed decor throughout the restaurant. Service was fantastic, strong party vibe, creative cocktails and smart integration modern and chinese crusine. As a Chinese, I hope that the chef can reduce the salt and oil in the food, allow the ingredients to show their flavour (since the proteins are fresh and should be the highlight). A nice place to celebrate birthday and gathering with friends.
