Came across this place by accident and loved it. The beef noodle were amazing and all of the dumplings were delicious. Very friendly staff and authentic ambience. Will definitely go again and again.

We been for a family dinner, and the experience was great. Great customer service, all the staff was very attractive. Food wise, I can say probably one of the best noodles I've ever tried. Beef flank noodle soup was incredible taste and amazing texture. Dumplings, just perfect. Thank you for this delicious food Highly recommended!

This is becoming my go-to places for noodles and dumplings. I have been twice in this month and on each occasion my craving for noodles was totally satisfied. I will definitely go back. No frills restaurant, cash only.

This place is amazing. It is not the kind of eatery you go to sit and chat for hours or to drink cocktails. It’s for hardcore lovers of authentic Northwestern Chinese style food. Expect to be slurping away on delicious noodles, chomping fried rice, devouring amazing dumplings or enjoying spicy kebabs. The service is fast and friendly and portion sizes are extremely generous. We had the Garlic Beef Noodles in Broth, Pork and Seafood Dumplings and Chicken Fried Noodles. We also had 4 Lamb Kebabs. This was enough for two very hungry adults. There is lots of menu options and a specials board upstairs where you go to order. I loved seeing the noodles and dumplings being made and the whole restaurant had a really nice fast paced vibe to it. Needless to say I’m already planning another trip!

Found this place by accident, food was fantastic. Ordered two rice and the manager suggested that one would be enough which it was! She did not need to say say anything but saved us £7 as the portions are large. We had the beef with chilli and chicken absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back! Just remember it’s cash only and if you remember that you’ll have a great meal!

I was here with my sister on 29/06/23 what a fined will certainly return food excellent and the size of the portions was certainly value for money and such a friendly staff. I would recommend 💯

We visited restaurant looking to get a takeaway. We asked lady if we could place an order. She said we only take cash, and turned her back to us without making any enquiry if we had money, or suggesting where we could get cash. We left feeling very insulted, felt like we were treated very badly. Staff member was very rude and unfriendly. Didn’t get a chance to try food, but would not go back after being treated so badly.

No frills but good food Simple set up, basically casual dining experience. Good hearty satisfying bowl of noodles at roughly £10. Seating on street level as well as down stairs. Often you will see the chef hand pull the noodles in the back. We arrived at 430, so it was before the dinner rush. Waited roughly 10-15 mins for our steaming bowl of ramen. The lady who served us was very friendly. Would definitely recommend, big portions. The noodles had a nice soft chew to them . The pork won tubs had were juicy. The beef flank was full of flavour. Toilets clean, situated down stairs.

Gorgeous fresh authentic Chinese food. Missus had the dim sum plate and loved it. I had the beef flank noodles soup, really nice. You could tell the noodles were made fresh and it does make a difference. Really friendly service too and a great place to sit.

We came across this restaurant walking back from seeing a show at fringe festival So glad we gave it a try. The noodles were delicious!! Food came quickly, was fresh and tasty and staff were very attentive A great find after a very busy day

We got the Chicken Fried Noodles and the Vegetable Fried Noodles, and they were equally delicious. The vegetables were super fresh and tasty, and the noodles were made right before our eyes. Delicious! The owners were lovely and we got our food in no time. The portions were generous, so you don't have to worry about that. 10/10 recommend!

We came upon this place by accident when we couldn’t get in to our first choice! Fate did us an amazing favour! The food is incredible, the noodles are hand made in the restaurant! It’s a bit of a cafe vibe with takeaway customers & delivery guys popping in & out too! The staff were lovely too! Cash only at present but prices are very reasonable!

Visited here in November and last month. The place has upstairs and downstairs dining. Very varied, reasonably priced menu. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We had the chicken dumplings and the beef noodles/ beef shin broth. The flavours were amazing and everything is cooked to order (they even make their own noodles). This is now our new go to place and travel a fair distance just for the sole purpose of coming here. I very rarely give full star reviews but this place Deserves it!

Firstly, I have been here three times. Price Cash only, but reasonable for Edinburgh. Customer Service: The waiter was impolite and got the order wrong. The staff were all eating a meal when I went in another time and the waiter said 5 minutes. After they were all laughing and slapping their legs I left after 10 minutes. The student waiters are not bad. Food: If you like oily noodles, this is the place for you. Overall, the customer service and inconvenience of using cash and dealing with rude staff is not worth it.

Was directed here by a friend who lives nearby and told me that they start most nights out with a trip here before hitting the pub. I phoned to book which was a good idea as while we were there was no free seating with all tables full. The lady that took the booking was the same one that served us throughout. English isn't her first language and although some might find a slight language barrier, her smile and enthusiasm made us immediately fall in love with her. We ordered a few things from the specials board and were delighted with our choices. One thing is we found the portion sizes very generous so, expecting to share 3 dishes, we ended up having to take some away with us in a doggy bag (which they happily arranged at the end). The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back. They don't seem to be licensed so we also had a couple of bottles of "traditional" juice. No idea what they were but they tasted nice! All in all I would recommend for anyone who wants something a bit more Asian traditional. From the man hand making noodles through the back, to there being no cutlery to speak of (chopsticks all the way) and the flavours and meats used (unexpectedly I loves the entrails in the stew I had) it's different to any other restaurant of this kind I've been to.

I've been coming to this place for years and it is my absolute favourite place for hand pulled noodles. Service is amazing, the lady is always very helpful and polite. Remember you can pay cash only.

I’m reminiscing about the gorgeous noodles I ate here last September. A gem of a place and I can’t wait to revisit this Spring. I ate my noodles at the bottom of Arthur’s Seat (5 min walk away) amongst the heathers. Such tasty food in beautiful location.

If you are craving delicious, simple and addictive chinese THIS IS THE PLACE. First of all, the food is out of this world tasty, with the best chilli oil I've ever had. Watch as the noodles and dumplings are hand-made. Keep going back for more. The staff are SO attentive and really lovely. Downstairs and upstairs seating.

Called in here on a whim for lunch and couldn't believe our luck. Genuine Chinese cuisine bursting with flavour and every dish was fantastic. If I lived in Edinburgh I'd be here every week! Prices were very reasonable too.

I LOVE this place! The name is super generic, but the noodles are hand-pulled in the back and the food is super authentic. I love going in for the dumplings and fried noodles.

Behind the generic name hides the most authentic Chinese cuisine I’ve found in Scotland. I mostly tried their Sichuan style （四川菜）dishes, the yuxiang aubergine and mapo tofu were both just like the Ayis in Chengdu make. They also have very good hand pulled noodles.

Whenever I'm feeling under the weather, I always want noodles from here. One of my go-to takeaway places now. The garlic beef and the pork wonton soups are so good!

Encantador personal para saludarte y asesorarte. Verlos hacer los fideos es una novedad divertida. Lamentablemente, la comida no era genial. La sopa sabía mucho a polvo que había salido directamente de una bolsita y se había mezclado con agua. Wontons tenía una cantidad tacaña de carne de cerdo y simplemente no eran muy agradables, incluso en comparación con cualquier comida china promedio para llevar. Mi compañero tenía la carne en rodajas con sopa de ajo y la carne tenía mucha grasa dura y masticable. Los pepinillos laterales eran bastante agradables. Me encanta la sopa de fideos y estaba emocionado de probar este lugar después de leer las críticas. ¡Fue triste encontrarlo tan decepcionante!

It is a takeaway with a few seats like you'd get in a fish & chip shop. I wanted prawn fried rice (£9) and 4 portions of dumplings (£8.50/portion). I was not allowed dumplings to eat in, or to take away the rice, so I had to have part of my meal seated in front of the door which kept opening, and the rest of it sitting in a take-away bag on the table. It was Boxing Day and cold. I eventually persuaded another server to give me a take-away box for the rice I couldnt eat there. I was also asked to pay in advance which no other party seemed to have to do. I was a lone female in make-up and good winter clothes, not dressed like a burglar! They also forgot the green tea I ordered. The four portions of dumplings came with about a teaspoon of soy. I havent tried the dumplings yet but not confident they would be anything more than average like the rice. Food is edible, but its not a place to go for a meal out. Just a takeaway - but you cant take everything away and its on the higher priced side £8-9 per portion.

The food was excellent my only problem was deciding what to eat it all looked so good. What I did have was wonderful.

Popped in for a quick dinner while trying to achieve an ambitious Fringe schedule.This really is a good place for an authentic Chinese meal. Modest tables, lovely smells, bustling ambience, the kitchen is right by the dining area.I ordered the pork wonton in broth with noodles. It arrived quickly and was delicious. Dishes served to other diners looked great as well, this is the sort of place you'd have to go to many times to appreciate all the dishes.The thing I liked most was the bill (photo attached). Sums it up really!Must go.

Los fideos hechos a mano son lo tuyo, este es el lugar para ti. Un simple lugar adornado, es comer y listo. Pedimos los fideos de carne de res en rodajas de ajo en caldo, tardó aproximadamente 15 minutos en llegar a nuestra mesa. Alrededor de 10 rebanadas de carne fina adornada con cebolletas en una gran cama de fideos. Mano tirada como se ve en la cocina. El caldo era ligero pero carecía de profundidad para mí, la adición de aceite de chile de la mesa ayudó un poco. Los fideos tenían un buen mordisco y no demasiado blandos. Pero no pude probar ningún ajo fuerte como se describe. Mi amigo tenía la ensalada mixta de carne de res en rodajas, pepinos, champiñones woodear (textura de gelatina marrón y crujiente) cacahuetes, vingerette de aceite de chile. No estuvo mal, pero tampoco estuvo bien. No estoy seguro de si el recubrimiento del aceite de chile estaba fuera de lugar, simplemente no se casó para mí con las diferentes texturas. El lugar era muy cálido, no ayudó a que las bebidas frías no se enfriaran. Venden bebidas chinas, así como el pop británico habitual. El lugar ofrece asientos para bajar escaleras, así como en la planta baja. Toda la atmósfera me recordó a estar en HK, así como el calor. Los precios son muy asequibles con platos de fideos a partir de las 8.

Maybe you trip over noodle houses like this in Shanghai or Taipei or Singapore. I don't know. But I enjoy various regional Chinese foods and I cook them as well. I don't make authentic fresh noodles. But I love to eat them. My wife and I ate dinner there yesterday and chose beef noodles in broth and vegetable fried noodles. Both were excellent. I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed this meal. Sometimes a bowl of flavorful broth with perfect noodles and a few slices of beef is exactly what you want. I don't know Edinburgh well enough to say whether this is out of the way or not. It is not particularly near any of the big attractions, except maybe Surgeons Museum. But I would go out of my way to eat here again. Oh, ambiance. Crowded Chinese linoleum table ambiance. You are here to eat noodles.

I had noticed this restaurant from the top of the bus a few times driving past, and saw the chef in the kitchen preparing the noodles. We've since been in to eat twice in the last week, it has four or fives tables to sit at when you go in and there is another seating area downstairs. You just go up to the counter, order and pay for your food and then they bring it to your table. I had the garlic beef with noodles on one occasion and then a cold cucumber salad yesterday when it was a rare, scorching day in Edinburgh! Both delicious. No fancy table service but if you want lovely food served quickly then this is a great place to try.

Yes, place is very basic, but I’d hoped that the food would make up for it. The fried dumplings were delicious and hot, however the noodles were lukewarm with very little sliced beef. So that, along with surly behind the counter staff, relatively high prices especially for a bowl of noodles and complete lack of atmosphere, would put us off from returning unfortunately.

I think the people giving this gem of a restaurant low reviews are unaware of the difference between authentic and non-authentic Chinese food. There is no comparison between Noodles and Dumplings and places like Yocoko - here, simple dishes like beef noodle soup are brimming with complex flavours, with silky hand-pulled noodles and extremely generous portions.

I have lived in China before so when I find somewhere authentic I literally get obsessed...

Delicious cooked food. Have been many times and busy.... even been told that they had sold out and would make the garlic and beef broth I always order and would take a little longer... but I’ve now found portions have been halved in size.... I ate and drank all the broth which after paying £7.50 I felt it was filling and left satisfied... but now I ate it in minutes and even drank ever last bit of broth and still left hungry.... on my way to supermarket to buy food to start cooking... disappointed with reduction.. was very visible reduction when viewing portion. Would return if they return to previous portion size.

If you have ever tasted real chinese hand pulled noodles then you will know how rare they are to come by in the uk. This place is the real deal. My personal favourite is the beef flank noodle in broth and my partner loves the beef fried noodles. Their 'steam bun' dumplings are also delicious. We are locals and live nearby so I practically live there.

This place is a delight. Genuine Chinese food - endorsed by the huge number of Chinese customers in there! Massively busy and frequently queuing to near the door, but the relatively fast moving line makes it more than worth it.

Stopped off here while visiting Edingburgh. Authentic Chinese noodle and dumplings bar where you can watch the chefs make the food into tasty treats before your eyes. It’s rustic but not unclean, and the staff are polite and helpful. The pan fried chicken dumplings are as good as in Asia. Recommend

I can’t believe I can find a restaurant like this one in Edinburgh. The moment I went in was the time I know, that’s it, the real Chinese food. It is even better than some noodles place in China! I had beef noodles and on the menu, you could see they have all these options of width of the noodles. They even used that terms!!

Take the menu in Chinese and the abundance of Chinese people enjoying food here as a good sign. This small steamy joint is as Authentic as it gets with its mixture of seating options, tall bar seating, small tables with stools which you maybe asked to share.

Can’t believe so few reviews here as this place is top quality real Chinese food. Real bowls of noodles and stir fried rice. All delicious. Beef skewers are delicious. This place is really authentic, healthy, fabulous food!

I've come here twice before for the noodles in broth, which are usually generous yet nothing fancy. Staff in the past have been very friendly, but on my last visit I was served by different staff who completely lacked any customer service skills. My partner and I ordered fried noodles, which we found to be overpriced for what we received. The noodles were okay, but came with very few vegetables (carrot, beansprouts and spring onion - that's it). The carrot was still raw, prawns were of the tiny frozen supermarket kind, plus the dish overall was salty and sitting in a big pool of oil (see photo). The most expensive mess of a noodle dish I've had in a long time. Order if clogged arteries is what you're after.

My second visit here. Really good noodles made on the premises, I ordered Wanton noodle soup to take out and the lady said If you have far to travel would I like the noodles in a separate container to the soup so the Noodles dont soak up all the soup by the time I got home, very thoughtful and courtesy service! Extremely generous portion too and tasty Wantons! Try the chill oil, one of the best I've had!

We came a few times already and the place it's a simple restaurant with real food good portions made right in front of you , if you stay upstairs you can see the all process, we love all the starters specially the cold and spicy beef salad the lamb noodle soup it's really good plus the fried noodles it's also fantastic we surely be back for many times but one think to note it's if you looking for romantic atmosphere this is not the placend, this place it's a place to eat good noodles we go there for the food and the authentic chinese small shop atmosphere, if you looking for real deal and know how to appreciate different foods this place it's great.

We shared a bowl of wonton noodles and a plate of fried dumplings. You can see the guy in the back hand stretching the noodles to order, and they tasted delicious! The broth was flavoursome and the homemade dumplings were great. Definitely recommend for lunch.

We were cold, tired and hungry and found this ramshackle looking place across the street. Wandered in and grabbed a couple of stools at the window bar and proceeded to have some of the best noodles I had ever tried. It's certainly not fancy but good lord they do what they do very well. Even the fact that they have the option of chicken heart or pigs blood as components for noodle dishes is a very good sign. Both the seaweed and shrimp noodle broth and steamed vegetable dumplings were fantastic. Not licensed but the really pleasant waitress just said we could grab a couple of beers from the supermarket and have them with our food (didn't even charge us to have them). Definitely catering towards the student market but there's absolutely no shortage of flavour. The only downside was that I wish I'd found this place sooner. If I didn't live at the other end of town I'd be heading there for something to eat now.

Thought this would be similar to the other place around there- cheap and plentiful. This was definitely not the case. £7 for dumplings and ordered skewers with a drink for more than £10 and still hungry afterwards. Dumplings were nice, skewers over seasoned. Poor service- people were more interested in their mobile. Go to Yococo along the road for half the price and big portions
