Excellent sea bass. Interesting dumplings, some good, others acquired taste.

I really miss home so I came here specially to eat beef noodles🥹 I almost cried after one bite😭The meat is super tender, the noodles are chewy and the soup is rich. It’s great to have this restaurant in Edinburgh Although I feel very sorry that I didn’t finish it all in the end Because the boss is so straightforward, the bowl of noodles is a huge portion! Great value for money! Next time I will bring all my friends to eat! 🤣

Very tasty and fresh dumplings. One of the best I ever had. Good seasoning, great ingredient combination, nice balance. I appreciate the kitchens are open. The main room is little but welcoming. We were served even if the restaurant was closing.

This gonna sound like a fake review, but what an amazing place to have food. My cousin and I went there for lunch. Once we opened the door, we could see the ladies making fresh dumplings, and we were greeted with a nice smile from both of them. We order, got some complementary prawn crackers, and not long after the dumplings arrived, a mix of 14 all colours and flavours..and what a flavour. Then or noodles soup also arrived, and what a generous portion. In my opinion, there was a bit of flavour missing on the soup but didn't take away the amazing experience and food provided. Also, most of the dishes they serve can be shared do to their sizes ;)

Dinner in the evening, service was very friendly. The Guobao Pork is delicious, the sauce is very flavorful, and the skin of the Guobao Pork is still crispy even to the end of the meal! The beef noodles are also delicious. The meat is stewed very soft and delicious, the soup is not too salty, and the noodles are chewy. Affordable price, very satisfied!

Been coming back for their homemade rainbow dumplings ☺️ This time we also received some complimentary sea tangle with lemon and chili oil, good with rice! Also we were getting Northern sweet & sour pork for a while, but there is very little meat now and it's mostly fried dough 😔 sauce is good though, if there was less batter it would be great! Our server also was very attentive and friendly telling us about the complimentary dish and packing our to go box for us, but we felt too shy to ask for his name 🥹🙏🏻

This is a great weekend place, fast and friendly service, fantastic dumplings. Highly recommend

Best dumplings Ive ever had in the UK. Really delicious Chinese food.

Pro: - Staff was really nice - food was fast - solid price point But just room for improvement: - The salt baked chicken had an uneven temperature, so not sure if it was reheated inconsistently in prep. - The king prawn is pretty tasty, but you should devien when you also butterfly it. I'll attach a pic. - Maybe check if customers need water or any top up

These were probably the best dumplings I've eaten so far. I highly recommend rainbow dumplings and beef belly noodles. Tripe is also quite good, but could do more spice.

Always my favorite place to eat in Edinburgh. Not big restaurant but the menu is great. The taste here is very different with the other ones in Edinburgh. Love all the homemade dish here like homemade beef and pickle fish. Staff is very friendly.

Went here to try their dumplings! Fresh and tasty with good filling and the pastry was also perfect! we tried their pork and chives dumplings! Also ordered the chicken sweetcorn soup which was also very tasty! The place had a proper authentic vibe and didn’t fail to deliver! Staff is nice and friendly! Toilets were also very clean!

I dined there on my first visit to Edinburgh. I ordered a large portion of boiled pork and onion dumplings and mine accompanied by a soup of noodles, shrimp and tomato. Both of these dishes were ok, the boiled bundles were a hair too much for my liking. We also shared a plate of Japanese Tofu with Broccoli, which was spectacular. We spent a total of £43 for three mains and two fizzy drinks.

The Maos Pork (belly) is transporting. The photo in the menu looks more "restauranty", but when it comes out it looks and tastes like my grandma made it. Lots of lean pork with just enough belly fat (not too much fat as happens sometimes). Paired it with morning glory / 通心菜 , it's like home cooking. Sorry I forgot to take a photo before I devoured it. Will be back to try the many other tasty items on the menu and will update!

OMG! This is definitely a Top Notch Savoury Northeast Cuisine that is a GEM in Edinburgh. The sweet and sour crispy pork is you can't miss out in your order. The pork is so crispy and juicy! The dumplings are full of flavours and the chef handmade each and every! Definitely a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED RESTAURANT IN EDINBURGH. The owners are very customer orientated and you will definitely be welcome with so much smiles and warmth! Very Authentic Northeastern Chinese cuisine that you will be able to find in the HEART OF EDINBURGH.

Je tiens à préciser que je n ai pas mangé dans ce restaurant car ce que j ai vu m en a empêché, j ai demandé une table pour 3 et l on m a invité à descendre, je me suis retrouvé face à une porte ouverte qui n aurait pas du l être , je pense, car il y avait au sol des caisses de poissons ouvertes avec presque dedans une serpillière !!! Crasseuse, les normes d hygiène absolument pas respectées , scandaleux !je suis obligé de le dire c est trop important

I don't think I've tried a better Mapo tofu since... well.. since Sichuan! :) Hard to find a place in Europe that uses real Sichuan peppers. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavour!

Went here about three times now and was not disappointed once. Dumplings are very tasty - can get them steamed or fried. Their sweet and sour chicken or the pork are really good. Paired with green or jasmine tea it makes it a genuine experience. A great place to go for a more casual but delicious dinner.

Service is great！ 老闆娘和店員都非常親切，服務很好。 能在這麼遠的地方吃水餃還是開心的。 只能說英國的蔬菜還真不像加州甜，甚至偏苦。白菜、角瓜無法帶出水餃香甜。

Managed to get a table here last Friday. Great find. Food eas amazing. Massive portions and all very tasty. Food comes out very haphazardly but as long you are ok with that's fine

Really good, authentic Chinese food. We had the Rainbow Dumplings ("when in Rome"), the Kung Pao chicken (really spicey and delicious) and the Japanese Tofu with Broccoli (rich flavours). The service is prompt if you need to run to the nearby cinema / theatre. It's not fancy, and certainly not somewhere to go for a special occasion, but if you're looking for good food quickly, you can't go wrong.

Ordered 2 cokes and they were put on table unopened no glass provided ao had to drink from can. Ordered kung pao chicken. Hubby ordered sweet and sour crispy pork. I recieved my dish and had to wait 19 minutes before rice arrived. Gary's rice came along with mine but he had a further 10 mins or so wait for his main dish. I would expect my rice and main dish to be served at same time. However I would say on a positive note the food was lovely.

Out favourite Chinese place in Edinburgh. Absolutely fantastic dumplings! The restaurant was closed for some months but we are so glad it is open again.

Very authentic Northeast Chinese food, but perhaps a little salty for me! The chefs are all from China, and it’s probably one of the best Chinese restaurants for Northeast Chinese cuisine. I recommend trying the dishes other than dumplings.

A good place to eat delicious chinese food. I recommend the japanese tofu with broccoli. Love it so much. We also have the sweet and spicy beef which is crispy outside but still juicy and tender.

Service is really friendly and the place has well earned popularity. Had the rainbow and chive dumplings were my fave. The pickled veg fish, guo bao rou, and japanese tofu were all tasty as well! Also saw many having their dry fried woks of goodness which looked sensational

This is a fairly straightforward Chinese eatery . It is small and well patronised by predominantly Chinese students. Might be difficult to get a table. The cooking is good, the service quite fast, the staff are friendly and it is low cost

Not the same place before shutdown

I popped in off the street. No booking. Every table was taken. And all the people in the place were Chinese. They gave me a table downstairs. Okay, a bit of a shame. Away from the buzzy room upstairs. But when the starter came, I knew I was in the hands of a master. Eight beautifully thin pastries with tender meat inside. Surprisingly light. But the best was yet to come. A whole sea bass. Cooked to perfection. Lovely flakey fish with incredibly tasty shredded vegetables. A light soy sauce. I will be back. And I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone. Just try and book a table upstairs.

Thought I knew Chinese food until I came here. Not a dumpling fan previously but these were special. The prawn and pork griddle pot was full of individual flavours, truly tantelises the taste buds. Staff so friendly and great service.

Was here 3 weeks back. Food was amazing especially the dumplings. Portions were great. Update Dec 2022 - apparently this place is closed for good now - shame if true.

Restaurant is good and tasty. Had takeaway. The flavours and quality is good but thinking dumplings aren’t great as takeaway unless they reach you fast.

We visited for lunch and the dumplings were excellent. We'll go back to try more flavours. Reasonably quick service and staff were pleasant.

Authentic Chinese restaurant with mostly Chinese customers so that tells you something. Amazing food. We had shredded chilli beef, something like Kung Po chicken and dumplings. All very large portions so don't over order. Very quick if you need more.

pork doesn't have that weird awful pork smell like in most places in the UK (only a teeny hint)... ie. the haoshao rou braised pork was decent & certainly hit the spot - not like the best ever but very good for Scotland lol. I recommend ordering it 'cause it takes quite a bit of effort to make at home haha... Pork bok choi dumplings were nice. Veg dish was fine, like home cooking, could use more seasoning - giant portion though. Tbh I rarely find the experience of dining out here satisfactory (often pricey & very average) but this place made me glad to eat out - Would come back again. Simple but nice

My girlfriend and I had two portions of egg fried rice and shared Griddle Cooked Mix Vegetables. It was 10 pound each in the end. Honestly, it was delicious. the Griddle pot spice was perfect. It was the kind of delicious spicy that only authentic Chinese food captures. I miss eating it even now.

What a taste, delicate and definitely yummy, and not only the dumplings experience. Extremely clean, friendly and nice. We came two night before to leave and was so good that we did again the last dinner. Should have one here in Bologna, can go quite every day. So yummy and real Chinese taste. P.S. only place I saw in UK where the toilet shining…so you can have your consideration. I will not post too many pictures because can’t wait too much to eat such delicious food. Promise as Terminator “I’ll be back”!

Really enjoyed our meal here. I'm not a big fan of dumplings but there's lots of other things to choose from. My partner loves them though and said the ones here were excellent. I had the beef chow mein which was also very nice. I would definitely come here again.

Simple looking place you might consider walking past. We took a chance on Saturday. The food was excellent from the lightly fried Pak Choi with garlic sauce and ribs in sweet and sour plum sauce, through the Yu Xiang chicken, Northeast style Sweet and sour crispy pork and fried rice. I can't speak for other dishes but found these delicious and will certainly be going back to try more. Lovely friendly staff. Limited seating space so I would recommend booking in advance if you want to give it a try.

Had a bad experience at this place. Place was pretty crowded with no place to stand or sit. When we gave our take away order and sat for a couple minutes at an empty table we were told to get up since the table was reserved, though Noone had come for their reservation yet. So we had to stand outside in the cold for our order. The dumplings were bland. They didn't have any flavor and no accompanying dipping sauce to make up for it. Would not recommend.

家门口的彩来来两次了终于想起来评价： 作为爱大在读博士我所有的同学朋友一致好评的中餐馆（真的是一致好评！！！） 绝了 牛筋的红烧/香锅版本我都吃过了 红烧甜口 香锅咸口 大家随意选择 鱼香茄子和国内饭店做的一模一样也是甜口的，地三鲜也不错，我没记错应该是咸口 干锅虾绝了，炸鲜奶绝了！（炸鲜奶必点！） I hardly write Google map comments in Chinese. However, this time, because this restaurant is so Chinese and I am so Chinese, I don’t think English can describe their cuisines very well and concisely. Please try any if you don’t speak any Chinese, I don’t think you will regret.

I'd say this is the best Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh, perhaps the best I've ever been to. I've went on two occasions so far (I will be returning for more). They offer traditional cuisine perfectly cooked. There are options for adventurous individuals, but fear not if you want classic dishes you will find them cooked here better than you have had elsewhere. The one word of caution I have is that this place is busy. Book a table, but also expect your meal to take a long while to complete. They are incredibly popular for takeaways and the kitchen is small. On both my trips the meal took about 90 minutes before the final dish came out. Could be trouble if you're not sharing dishes, definitely trouble for people who are in a hurry. Come with the delay in mind, bring some good friends and enjoy a nice chat as you wait for the best Chinese meal you'll have. Definitely recommend.

Great food although it was cold sitting downstairs

Hard to get a seat as it's a small place but the food is worth it. Authentic classics like Mao's pork and tofu dishes. I enjoyed everything i ate. I just wish the parking around there wasn't ultra greedy council prices, but that's not the fault of this great business. Will go back of I can justify the mega eye watering parking prices.
