Great food and great restaurant

It is self-service but it is a Pub which is not bad, the beers are excellent and the dishes are well served.

The food and the service is not what we expected from a Michelin recommended restaurant. Food portion was small, that's okay but it was not to perfection, especially for the price point. Service was mixed, we had an accommodating service from one of the staff, and another staff was rude. Atmosphere was nice and cozy though.

Excellent food. This is a classier restaurant than most in Edinburgh. Good tasty appetizers, everything well prepared. Good balance between vegetables and meat. And beautiful matching wines. It's not a big deal, but a table not in the basement is a plus. Nice friendly service. Payment by credit card for the reservation.

This review is specifically for Wedgwood’s fine dining at home Christmas dinner. It seems a bit of an extravagance at £80 a head but it is completely worth it. The delivery arrived exactly when they said it would. The food is well packaged and instructions very clear. Onto the food, the portion sizes are very generous and the taste was excellent ( menu and photos attached, apologies if my plating is not artistic enough!). To pick out three highlights - the Jerusalem artichoke veloute was incredible, our match with a Langhe nebbiolo went very well. The pheasant with all the trimmings was spot on, when they say all the trimmings they really mean it. Finally, we ran out of stomach space so had the Xmas pudding on Boxing Day, really tasty with the rum sauce and the pineapple pieces gave a nice lift to the dish. Anyone considering using Wedgwood for Christmas dinner dine at home, don’t hesitate it was fantastic.

We had a delicious tasting meal at Wedgwood. Every course was absolutely flawless and served with great wine pairings. Portion sizes were perfect and none of the courses felt too heavy. The service was excellent too. A great experience from start to finish!

Great value festive menu. The food is well-thought-out and full of flavour. Staff are knowledgeable , friendly, and funny. Alongside great food is the chance to linger over your meal - just what's needed at this time of year. Highly recommended.

Attentive staff. Nice ambience. Enjoyed taster menu on the whole, although 2 of the dishes not really to our liking. Curried monkfish overpowered the delicate flavour of the fish. Did mention when asked, as feedback is important to enhance future guests experience. Thank you for pleasant evening.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant because of the Michelin star sign on the entrance. But I had the worst fish dish ever, undercooked and soggy, with cold corn and vegetables. It was so bad I left most of it untouched. My husband's vension main was tasty but more of a starter serving. The service standard was also lacking, not friendly. This is NOT Michelin standard.

We had an exceptional experience at this Michelin Guide-listed restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing – every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful, making the entire meal even more enjoyable. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend!!

Arrived and pleasantly greeted, wishing my Mother a Happy Birthday. The menu is incredible with such variety. The food itself was outstanding and the service matched, being very attentive and friendly, with a few extra touches to make it memorable. The team also provided us with recommendations for breakfast the next day which was also a hit!

The first haggis I tried in Edinburgh, and I loved it! The rest of the modern Scottish cuisine menu is also very correct. Cod, spicy chicken, and desserts! To repeat.

Terrific choice to experience fantastic regional produce, restrained and thoughtful cooking, warm service, and very reasonable pricing; especially on beverages. Monkfish with couscous, corn, broccolini. Potato gnocchi and chicken breast also excellent.

I originally chose Wedgwood as so many other restaurants on my "list" were closed on a Monday, but I'm so glad I did. The food was great, very reasonable for a lunch menu, and our hostess was very patient as I caught up with a family member I hadn't seen in 20 years! I had the sea trout tartare to start, and, although not a large portion, it was about right for the balance of the dish. For mains I had the herbed pork loin with crushed purple potatoes cavalo Nero and yogurt, the pork was perfectly cooked, slight blush and still juicy, the potatoes seasoned just right and the yogurt was the balance the dish needed. We talked ourselves into dessert and I'm glad we did, the passion fruit posset was delicious, so rich and creamy, packed full of flavour with a lovely little biscuit. Would love to come back again and bring my partner next time!

Lovely food and service. Well worth a visit

We went to celebrate our 50th anniversary. There was a blond lady -supposedly in charge-, was very rude and without explaining anything, she sent us away mistreating us. What kind of people like her can be in charge of a business that advertise as a Michelins restaurant.

We found this restaurant just across our rental apartment. Incredible taste of the food, excellent service and great evening in this small but great restaurant. They had a Michelin star in 2019, and they kept the level. The deserts were absolutely splendid. Make sure you reserve a table, and there is a wonderful tasting menu paired with wines we watched on the table next to us. And while there, we saw they have lunch menu from 12 to 13:45. So, it is on our list again. ;)

Wedgwood provided an exceptional service for our post-wedding ceremony meal. They not only accommodated all the dietary requirements but created a fantastic menu that was a joy to eat, even the fussy eaters were pleased The service and atmosphere were perfect, I could not speak higher of Leah and Amanda as hostesses. Aside from the amazing food and wine, there were a couple of things that just set Wedgwood apart: For the toddler of our party, Wedgwood staff offered to wash some raspberries for her without us asking Managing to make a kids menu (which was vegan and not boring!) while also providing larger non-vegan items off the kids menu for the fussy eaters. We are so glad we got to celebrate our wedding at the best restaurant in Edinburgh at which we prevously had our 1 year anniversary meal. Thanks!

Just gorgeous! We had a family birthday there on Saturday... we were so well looked after and the food delicious! They currently have a very reasonably priced lunch on 7 days a week. Go while you can get in... my family group are recommending it to everyone! The sticky toffee pudding is so delicious they have the recipe on their website

We had dinner to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. The atmosphere and ambience were great. The food was immaculate. The service of the food between courses was very slow. We took the tasting menu of GBP80pp but the waiting time between courses was around 45 minutes. At one point, I had to ask for the next course to come. So fine dining price with fine dining taste but the service did not live up to it. Everything else went well.

We had dinner here a few days ago in this gastronomic restaurant, good modern Scottish cuisine. We had trout and a kind of monkfish, good flavor and good presentation. It is on the famous Golden Mile, it is small and without a reservation it is difficult to get a table, although we went by chance and they gave us a table, but it was the last one free. The service is correct and the prices according to the quality and city. They also have 2 tasting menus with wine pairings.

Nothing to say on the plate, in fact the cuisine is good (bistronomic level in France). On the other hand, if you are placed flush with the serving hatch, 30cm from the next table in a corner of the room as was our case, this counts in the overall opinion and the feeling during the meal. It was not pleasant to have a ballet of waitresses brushing against our chairs throughout the meal to serve in the dining room.

Recommended by the guide (curiously, in retrospect I noticed that most of the 5 star reviews are made by guides...) we booked for the last dinner of our stay in Scotland. Considering the tasting menu too expensive (£80 per person, without wines) we started with the à la carte starters. A disappointment: decidedly small and unrefined portions, sushi-style portions of salmon, the cheese and beetroot plate practically non-existent. High and unjustifiable prices. We stopped at the appetizers. We were told that it was a starred restaurant but we discovered that in reality it is not, final disappointment. Not recommended.

Edit: it is not a Michelin starred restaurant, it was only recommended by Michelin in 2019 for a restaurant where you can eat good food. The food at Wedgwood was undeniably delicious, with well-sourced local ingredients. However, it’s on the pricey side, and the menu pricing strategy of using .95 felt a bit off-putting, as it’s clearly meant to make you think something costs less than it does. Adding to this, the portions were also quite small, especially considering the price. On a positive note, we had a wonderful waitress who served us with a smile and very professional. Unfortunately, we were seated in the basement right next to the kitchen door, which detracted from the overall experience. In the end it is a mixed feeling where I felt that the restaurant fell in the tourist trap mindset.

Perfect spot for a special meal in Edinburgh. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing, and every course was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and attentive in explaining the flavors and rationales behind each course. It was a fantastic experience!

The service and food were absolutely perfect. I knew it was highly rated but it wasn’t until we left we realized it had a Michelin Star, I forget her name but we met one of the owners who was very sweet and our entire dining experience was a delight. A friend and I split two bottles of wine (which were on sale), two appetizers, and a main and got out of there for under $200. Absolutely recommending when in Edinburgh.

It was our party's first time at a Michelin star restaurant, and the tasting menu of Scotland was absolutely beautiful and delicious. I hate to write this, but the experience ended on an unfortunate note when we found a long hair in the latte at the end of the meal. We were offered another coffee, but we didn't think that really made up for the drop in this restaurant's otherwise beautifully high standards.

We picked Wedgewood partly because it is one of the few fine dining restaurants in Edinburgh that is open on Monday. We opted for the seven course tasting menu and it was brilliant. A lovely mix of dishes each cooked perfectly. The venison and the scallop were highlights. Its a relaxed dining room and the food is unfussy - and it is all the better for this. Bravo Wedgewood - solid cooking with local ingredients, friendly service, and fairly priced.

We had a tasting menu for our first anniversary meal at Wedgwood. The food was spectacular, a selection of lovely wines and the service impeccable. Wedgwood has a really nice atmosphere that really makes it special. We always recommend a visit. They took a lot of care to cater to and ensure there were gluten-free options for my coeliac girlfriend who is also vegetarian, which were well thought-out as opposed to just removing items from menus, which is so appreciated!

Amazing culinary experience! Our party elected for the wee tour of Scotland tasting menu along with the wine pairing, which was expertly chosen. This won’t be a cheap experience by any means but a worthwhile one no less!

I make an annual pilgrimage here for my birthday. Can't fault the quality of the food or the service. Well worth a visit if you have not been before. Thank you and see you again soon.

Fab restaurant! We stumbled upon this one by accident as it was close to our hotel and we were hungry, however what a pleasant accident! We were seated in the downstairs room as they were fully booked but did their best to accommodate us which was really nice of them. The downstairs was rather quiet, however, as soon as a table became available upstairs, we were moved up and the atmosphere was fab! We got chatting to a lovely couple on the next table to us too - it was a great night! The food was lovely, one of the nicest restaurants I've been to for food!! We would certainly return!

Had the most amazing and educational day with Paul foraging followed by a most creative and inspiring 9 course tasting menu. Thoroughly recommend this. Who would have thought you could create such tasteful dishes from the plants we see every day. Thanks Paul 🙂

Loved the food , ambience cosy n classy. Palate cleanser was provided in between starter and main course. Plus super courteous waitresses who were super helpful. Lastly the food was awesome cooked with lot of care and very tasty. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Currently they are thriving on word of mouth- we were suggested by the hotel staff

We had a wonderful experience for my husband’s 35 birthday here! The food was delicious, the service was friendly, fast and professional as well. The scallops were really nice and so was the pork belly. We had the deer and the risotto cod as well. They have a full gluten-free menu available which was very very VERY appreciated. They agreed to put candles on the dessert for the occasion as well. A splendid evening, we would love to return if we are back in town at some point.

Such a memorable meal! I had the a la carte menu when I realized my dessert choice wasn’t in the chefs menu. The staff was very helpful in choosing dishes and wines. I was dining alone, which can sometimes be monotonous, but the rhythm of the meal and friendly staff made it a joy. Every dish was a treat for the senses and cocktails were perfectly balanced. Looking forward to recommending this to friends!

Superb!! I got the tasting menu and it was extremely well executed, though and served. The pigeon was one of the best I got in a long time, the pre-dessert was surprisingly good. I was served by an all women team that did a tremendous job, very well prepared, always present without being intrusive, fantastic! A very recommended place, you won't be disappointed

I only really write a Google review when I don't like something. Rarely has a dish touched me as much as the one I had on the lunch menu at Wedgwood. It is the Douglas fir cured salmon, cucumber & dill sorbet, grapefruit ponzu caviar, pickled carrot, poached rhubarb. Every element of this dish was prepared to perfection. I have been to many European Michelin-starred gourmet restaurants. I have never tasted anything as good as this salmon starter. It was so good that I came back the next day and ate it again. I would like to thank the entire Wedgwood team for this outstanding flavour experience. The perfect service rounded off the whole thing and made this a day I will never forget.

Such a wonderful restaurant in the Old Town! Super good food and cocktails; express lunch menu was great and very good value for money. A good variety of culinary skills right from the complimentary bread to the last innovative dessert interpretation of the Scottish cranachan. I was genuinely surprised. This is exactly the type of restaurant that you can easily tell the chef is cooking with passion.

Had a group dinner there. Service was super fast, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. Food is very good a bit rich at times ; the sauces and purés going with the lounge were a bit overwhelming at times but meat was superb. The wine selection is excellent. It was a bit busy and lots of people coming and out so it was a bit loud at times. Book in advance if you can as it gets very busy also they cater for any dietary restrictions you need to ask in advance. We’ll be back as soon as I can!

We had a wonderful time at Wedgwood! The food all was excellent and beautifully presented. We booked in advance and glad we did a small and very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We were served with a small throughout, and staff were knowledgeable about the food. Hubby and I ate vegetarian, so not much choice, but what we chose was delicious and looked beautiful on the plate. Ohhh the plalette cleanser was delicious 😋 starters, mains and dessert all high class and tasted amazing. We would defo go neck back!

We were deciding where to eat when I stumbled on this restaurant while searching for the closest one from our location. We were greeted with a smile and had a table set up even though the restaurant was packed. The food was delicious. We were a party of five including two kids. Scallops, golden beetroot, and aubergine fritters for the starters. Then we went with chicken, cod, monkfish, and roasted cauliflower for the mains finishing off with chocolate sachertorte and passion fruit semifreddo. Very pleased with the service. Do put this on your list if you are In Edinburgh.

Beautiful Scottish restaurant, located on the east side of the city. Locally sourced ingredients, exceptionally prepared with a modern unexpected twist, for example, a light flavoursome curry making an appearance on a couple of occasions. Quaint and classy setting. Wonderful staff walking you through the experience.

My boyfriend and I have visited Wedgewood for the last 2 years on my birthday in August during the Fringe Festival. Both years, we have had the vegan tasting menu with wine pairings and pre dinner canapes and fizz. The food, wine, service and atmosphere are always spectacular. We highly recommend it and hope to go back again!

We are Asian. Book for birthday lunch. The server haven't communicate much with us, but very nice to the local on other table, felt a bit unfair, but they aren't mean, just unwelcome. Not again, not worth it. Food was alright, no surprises. I love the salted cod appetizer. Beside that, just pub food with plating.

The service, food and drinks were amazing. We were greeted with a warm welcome and asked the waitress for recommended wines that would suit our palate and she didn't disappoint. Everything tasted delicious and would recommend coming here again next time we are in Scotland.

Lovely restaurant, the staff are friendly and charming. They give you plenty of space to enjoy your evening but are always available if required. The food was lovely, they also provide options for people like myself with dietary requirements. The wine list is decent and complements the food. A good restaurant well worth a visit if you are in the area.

We picked this restaurant for our dinner date in Edinburgh after browsing menus and reviews with some competitors, and we could not be happier. Great knowledge of their products and their dishes, lovely pairings for the wine flight (and allowed an amendment), never had to repeat or chase anything at any point, and the service was spot in even with three different people alternating touching our table. We had the Wee Tour of Scotland Tasting menu and it exceeded our expectations. Every course was interesting and full of flavour. Small restaurant with a nice, relaxed vibe. Sunday night so it got quiet later and staff gave us extra attention. Pace of courses was fine, which is important with a tasting menu. Got a decent bottle of wine from the "end of bins" selection for only £18. Dessert in particular was amazing and the fudge with the tea and extra truffles when the bill came were lovely small extra touches. Recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh

Friendly attentive service, comfortable relaxing ambience, beutifully balanced flavoursome food served at an enjoyable pace.

Fantastic experience. We brought our 7 month old daughter and the staff was extremely accommodating. Nieve even helped play with our daughter when the food came so we could eat. For starters, the pork belly was especially good. For mains, we tried the deer loin and pheasant and they were exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the desserts closed out a high quality meal.

Very disappointed. We came for a special occasion and had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and canapés. The food was average and sometimes over cooked or underdone, very bland flavour and boring. We shared our experience to the manager and said we didn’t want compensation because we ate the majority of it. Her reaction made it worse as she was unapologetic and didn’t seem to care, her response was the chef must have had an off day and we should try a local cocktail bar to finish our night. A bizarre and disappointing response. Will not be returning and would rather spend over £300 elsewhere.

Our waitress was lovely but unfortunately, £80 a head just for the Winter tasting menu is far, far too much as the food was quite basic and bland.

Unfortunately it wasn’t the best dining experience. We went for lunch for a birthday celebration. Firstly, and very importantly, it’s Scotland, it’s winter, please heat your restaurant. A small electric radiator is not sufficient and sitting wearing my coat to eat my food is not the experience I expected. The food was okay but sorry to say it lacked flavour. The cod dish was overpowered by salt. My husband had the turkey dinner which probably was a better option. On a positive note there was no scrimping on the bread and the desserts were divine (not a dessert fan usually so kudos). When the bill came we had accidentally been charged £40 for a bottle of wine which we had not ordered. This was promptly removed with no fuss. Overall it was an average experience which was a shame as I had been looking forward to eating here for a while.

This is the highest praise I have ever given a restaurant - this is most likely the best dining experience I have ever had. the staff will go above and beyond for you. I came with a couple who had a fussy baby, and the waitress (whose name I believe was Neve) took the toddler and showed her around the entire restaurant! So attentive and kind. 10/10 and I will be back next time I'm in Scotland!

Whenever we're in Edinburgh, this is our place to go for a really enjoyable special meal. On this occasion, the food was exceptional - it has always been no less than very, very good; familiarity certainly didn't lessen our enjoyment.

It was a lovely 3-course lunch at Wedgwood on our wedding anniversary. Great also that we could walk in. We were initially worried that we won’t be full, but we were both tummy full at the end of the 3rd course. Indeed, the ingredients were fresh (Hake fillet, chicken breast). I would have preferred if the peas come mashed or it was another vegetable choice with the fish. The berries parfait dessert was my favourite!

Booked their downstairs private room for a post marriage dinner. Amanda was incredibly accommodating and organised and the team made it a perfect dinner on the day! Would definitely recommend.

We had the Wee Tour of Scotland Tasting menu and it was amazing. Really interesting selection of wines that worked amazingly well indeed. Will be tracking them down to buy. Every dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavour and variety, made from high quality ingredients. Small restaurant with a nice, relaxed vibe. Staff were all great, kept the food coming at exactly the right pace and even got us a taxi at the end. Loved it. Will go back.
