The food was delicious, everything we ordered was great. Highly recommend the steak tartare. The service was great from start to finish, a friendly welcome by the host and wonderful table service by Georgia our waitress. She was friendly and attentive. It was Valentine’s Day so the restaurant had a nice vibe. Would highly recommend cote as you know you’ll be getting a great meal. Thanks guys

Absolutely love Cote restaurant having been there many times when I lived in London. We visited this Edinburgh branch on 3rd January and arrived quite late after a long delayed flight. The Waiter kindly accommodated us even though the kitchen had just closed. He made recommendations of the steak frites, good wine and chocolate mousse to finish. We were so grateful and loved the service and food. Since we arrived as service was closing, the atmosphere was quieter given the time. Highly recommend!

My partner booked a table here for our anniversary. We asked a range of friends, family, and colleagues also in the hospitality industry, for recommendations for where to go and were told we have to try here. We were seated promptly and were given menus. When our server arrived, we asked for some water and ordered some drinks. A glass of champagne and a cocktail. Despite being a quiet Monday night, it took 12 minutes for our drinks to arrive and longer for our waiter to return. We then ordered our food, 2 steaks, a sirloin and a ribeye. When ordering, we took the recommendations for temperatures. Sirloin medium rare and the ribeye medium. When our steaks arrived, the ribeye was perfect and my sirloin was overcooked. Rather than medium rare, it was further than medium and closer to medium well. We were not checked on as we were eating our main courses and could not find a waiter, so I ate it and moved on disappointed. Even as our plates were cleared, nothing was checked on, and our waiter moved past us quickly, not even asking if we wanted anything else or offering desert menus. 10 minutes pass, and with no sign of a waiter, we see someone coming towards us with what looks like desert menus, and they get slapped onto our table in passing. With trying to continue to have faith after all the wonderful recommendations, we look at desert menus. We ordered desert, a creme brule and a chocolate fondant, and within ordering, they were out in 2 minutes. Working in a restraunt that also serves a chocolate fondant, I know it takes around 13 minutes to cook, not 2. So I was very surprised to have it arrive in 2. And even more surprised to see a little doughnut shaped cake that had had chocolate sauce poured in the hole and microwaved. After the arrival of the sub-par deserts, we just wanted to leave. Never mind that my partner had made the reservation under a special occasion, and it was our anniversary, and there was no acknowledgement whatsoever. We asked for the bill, which came with a service charge added on, which I have NEVER in my life removed. This was the first time. We paid quickly booked an Uber and left. We had planned to continue the evening and have a nice rest of our anniversary with a couple of drinks, but after the considerable disappointment we just wanted to go home. Anyone that I so excitedly told about my anniversary plans before the evening, who have asked since- I told them and said that it is not worth it and I will not be returning. Overall massively disappointing.

Looked at menu thought it sounded good so went in. Girl was friendly and nice so I ordered full breakfast done the oj and tea extra. Tea and toast came out tea was luke warm and toast was still white, by the time food came out after a long wait (only one other customer) and one sausage and bacon was like rubber. Tea was cold. To top it all off they tell me when I went to pay it was card only. Surely this information should have been stated at outset.

French restaurant they have great options, the price is high. But I recommend trying it, it's amazing.

A lovely evening with family to celebrate a birthday. Great food, great service and will definitely be back!

In conclusion, this is a restaurant with poor hygiene, racism, tasteless food, and unfriendliness. I have no idea why it had good reviews and it was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Never go there. You can tell just by looking at the pictures. As soon as I received the cup, I thought something was strange, but sure enough, none of the dishes had been washed. There was black and red powder everywhere. This is my first time seeing such dirty cups in a restaurant. I asked the staff if they could change it for me. Before we even stopped talking, he took the cup and walked away (a young employee with a mustache and piercings). When the food came out, I was shocked to see the plating and the condition of the bread. Among the dishes my group ordered, the bacon and sausage had a very fishy smell. In addition, only our table sitting in the corner did not receive water (other tables that ordered the same menu and drinks received water). Even though I assumed it was because they had forgotten about it, they went around asking if the food was okay except for our table. It wasn't obvious, but I could definitely feel the racist atmosphere. When paying the bill at the end, we ordered drinks that were clearly included in the set price. Just in case, I checked once more when ordering. The employee who took the order (a male employee with ponytails) suddenly gave me a receipt for 50 pounds. When my companion told me it was an incorrect receipt, he delayed it without a proper apology, and after a while, he gave me the correct receipt again. It was the worst until the end. There are so many things wrong with it that it's hard to tell where to start fixing them. The food in the photo alone costs about 30,000 won (15.xx pounds). Go somewhere else and save your money. Worst restaurant ever. You'll get what i mean by just looking at the pictures. Very poor hygiene (DO NOT BE FOOLED by the atmosphere), racist, terribly low food quality

Over the past few years, we’ve built up a lovely relationship with the team here, and I cannot praise them enough. Emma, Deima, Sandra, and the rest of the team are incredible at their jobs, always going above and beyond to make every visit special. Whether it’s a casual dinner or a celebration, they excel in every way—from the quality of the food to the outstanding service. Staff are not that friendly and it took an hour for our starters to come and another two hours for the main course - slowest service ever. I was expecting to be in and out in an hour and a half but was here for three hours and missed my train.

Disgusting service. The worst restaurant in this restaurant chain. I had a reservation at 5, we arrived an hour earlier. The receptionist told us that literally now they will put us at a table, they literally need to clean it. Staff was walking around us and not paying attention. After 15 minutes of ignoring it, we just left. The reservation has already been cancelled at the exit of the restaurant. Thanks for ruining Christmas!

Food was nice and the portion sizes on set festive menu were just right to leave you feeling pleasantly full.

My wife and I visited Côte to catch up with some friends and had a great time. The staff were very friendly, and our food was delicious. I have a lot of allergies and they were handled very well, with a staff member walking me through the menu and helping me see which options would work for me. As we were catching up with friends that we had not seen in a long time, we also appreciated that we didn't feel rushed by the staff to leave and were able to take our time enjoying the food and the atmosphere

Cote is usually very good but this is a classic example how bad staff and bad attitudes can make one branch really bad even though the overall chain is good. I have dined in their London branches many times and always enjoyed the food and the warm friendly service. I walk in with my daughter to the Edinburgh branch and from the word go the manager didn’t want to fit us in, reluctantly puts us on a table where we feel like we are sitting in a canteen squashed in between a big and a small table. Conversation was a non started in this environment. So we ask to change the table but when the waiter asks the manager he says no. Just the body language of this guy so negative that we just walked out it’s a shame as the food is indeed good.

Maybe we came on a bad day. Don't like leaving bad reviews but I'm not sure why this place has so many great reviews either. Easily one of the worst meals I've ate out in a while. Staff seemed friendly enough. Nice restaurant interior, but the food was honestly terrible let alone overpriced. I ordered the tuna steak, and it was inedible (raw) undercooked and rubbery. So I thought I'd eat the chips on the side, but then I found a hair. We ordered potatoes and there was only 4!? The food wasnt even fresh and the serving portions were stingy (not small in the delicate French/ gourmet portion sizing) like they just ran out of food? I don't know. Our first time at Cote, will be our last.

We had a three-course meal that lasted three hours. The service was extremely slow, despite having pre-ordered our menu and booking in advance. The staff appeared disorganized and unfriendly. As for the food, the turkey was very dry and not worth it at all. To be honest, we couldn’t help but feel that our table was treated unfairly, possibly due to racial bias. Given that we had pre-ordered and reserved ahead of time, there was no reasonable explanation for the delayed service.

I’m still in the restaurant as I’m writing this, I just couldn’t wait to leave a glistening review. This is the best restaurant experience I have ever had. All the food was so delicious- like AMAZING. I couldn’t stop making mmm noises. I told them on the booking it was my bf’s birthday and they brought over a complimentary glass of fizz AND a dessert. Service was quick and every single staff member was so smiley and welcoming. The best end to my bf’s birthday, we’re in such a good mood now thanks to our amazing experience here. Honestly couldn’t recommend enough.

Had one of the best meals I’ve ever had at Côte last night….scallops and mussels. Lovely wine. Staff great and very good natured about the fact we were there for five hours! This is why I always go back to Côte.

Dined with some friends, and it was such a lovely evening! The seared scallops were the star of the night—absolutely perfect. The steak frites, served with garlic butter, were a bit mediocre for my taste, but the sirloin, cooked medium rare, was delicious and paired well with the fries. For dessert, the salted caramel & Madeleine crème caramel was heavenly, and the warm chocolate fondant was delightful—though maybe a touch too sweet for some. Overall, the experience was fabulous, with super accommodating staff, delicious cocktails, and great wine. A night to remember!

Me and my partner went for breakfast one morning. I ordered the cassoulet and they informed us that we may have a longer wait due to the cassoulet, which we were both fine with. The food arrived not longer than we expected, and it was delicious! We then enquired about paying the bill and they informed us that the bill was on them! The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome! Would definitely go again when we are next in Edinburgh!

Came for breakfast- wasn’t expecting a dirty fry up at Cote however the breakfast was bland. Coffe cup slightly dirty. Service was fine. Setting is nice though rather generic decor. Some may enjoy it here but not for me.

On Saturday during brunch time, my friend and I walked in. We didn't have a reservation but were told we could sit outside when I asked. We weren't given any menus, we weren't even seated outside by staff. We sat there for about ten minutes without anyone giving us the menus or asking for drinks. I went in and asked one of the female bartenders to have someone come out since we were waiting for a while, but she made the rudest face, acted so impatient with me while she said she will try to get someone to come out. One of the male staff members even came out to serve food to another couple sitting outside as well and completely ignored us. I immediately knew this wasn't the place I wanted to dine in. It is one thing to be busy but to be rude to your customers and not accommodating or even acknowledging their existence is another thing. Place gives off highly pretentious vibes as well. We decided to go to Urban Angel nearby and were seated immediately despite so much rush. Staff were super friendly and accommodating.

I've been a regular at COTE for years and it's been a family favourite for birthdays. We went to COTE in Edinburgh for breakfast for my mum's 65th. They'd lost our booking but managed to get us a table. Fine. They took the drinks order quickly, which was great. 20 minutes later, still no drinks. When the round of coffees and hot chocolates arrived, they'd clearly been out for a while as they were cold/warm at best. No apologies or chagrin from the staff, who replaced them after a 10 minute wait. The food took over 40 minutes to arrive and the manager was brisk and not apologetic when I asked if we could expect to eat soon. Much like our coffees, the food was warm at best when it finally arrived. My brother's yoghurt and berries was possibly the hottest food on the table. Not great. Yes, the manager conceded that the food had taken a long time, but given how busy they were this should have been expected, though he was prepared to get us some more drinks while we continued to wait. He seemed surprised to find customers in his restaurant. The waiter was not at all happy about removing the optional service charge from the bill as he'd already keyed it into the card reader. All in all, this was a horrible disappointment and it will be a long time before I try it again or recommend it to anyone else, which I always have done before. Don't waste your time or your money.

Visited Cote this evening with two girlfriends. The atmosphere is good; the service was very good, we all had minute steaks which were small and we had a side of a salad each. They were the smallest of salads - they should have been twice or three times the size. I would have preferred to have made a little more to have a decent salad rather than almost £5 for a large ramekin size. Think they could do better. Little disappointed with the portions. Besides that, we had a good evening.

Very impressed on our first visit to Côte. Huge choice of interesting dishes on the menu making our choice difficult. "We'll just have to go back to try the others!" Cannot fault what we chose which was matched with great service.

Côte Brasserie exudes the charm and elegance of a quintessential French bistro, bringing a slice of Parisian life to the heart of Edinburgh. Their drinks menu will have you licking your lips in anticipation. Their cocktails sound incredible, almost like dessert – try the Cinnamon Bun Espresso Martini or the Chocolate Old Fashioned (both £10.95). As someone who loves a good mocktail, I must say Côte excels in this area. I tried the French Macaron-tini (£9.95), and it was superb – a well-balanced, albeit sweet, mocktail. It was also very pretty! Cote Brasserie have introduced some new dishes and we didn’t hesitate to try them out. Warm Baked Beetroot (£7.95) - dressed beetroot wedges on lemon and herb aioli with julienned pear, pistachio dukka and pickled shallots topped with crispy panisse. A delightful dish where the beetroot was earthy and sweet, enhanced by the warmth of baking helping to intensify those natural sugars. The pistachio dukkah brings a nutty, savoury crunch which complements the softness of the beets and creaminess of the aioli. Brulée Camembert (£10.25) - caramelised cheese, grape chutney, walnuts and toasted sourdough baguette. This offers a delectable blend of all the textures and flavours you want from a cheese. The cheese is ooey gooey, with a cheese pull that will make anyone smile. The chutney and the walnuts were just perfect accompaniments. We tried a new dish and a classic staple from their menu. Butternut Squash Tarte Tatin (£15.95) - sage, salted caramel and red onion tarte tatin topped with whipped goat’s cheese and toasted almonds, with a green salad. This offered a delightful harmony of sweet, savoury and nutty flavours. The pastry was still crisp underneath and the butternut squash was soft and sweet. The goats cheese really tied it all together. Confit Duck a l’Orange (£20.50) - On a bed of braised red cabbage with a bitter orange sauce and gratin dauphinois. The duck was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The orange flavour was consistent throughout and it was beautifully presented. Great dish. We ordered the Truffled Cauliflower au Gratin (£5.50) - roasted cauliflower, truffle cheese sauce and a rosemary crumb, and the French Beans Amandine (£4.75) - with confit shallots, crispy onions and toasted flaked almonds. A side of Gratin Dauphinois come with the duck main too. The green beans were served just how I like them, retaining some crunch. The dauphinois potatoes were nice and creamy but the cauliflower was a let down. Still nice, I just couldn’t taste the truffle and the portion size was small. The photos of their desserts on their online menu, will leave your drooling. Cafe Gourmande (£8.95) - a selection of mini desserts. Raspberry macaron, pistachio profiterole and a warm butter madeleine with an espresso. I am such a fan of madeleines, that I opted for this simple selection and a coffee plus it was only 288 calories! Passion Fruit and Lime Leaf Creme Brulee (£8.50) - a traditional burnt French custard infused with passion fruit and lime leaf, served with vanilla-poached pineapple. This is another new menu item and it looked gorgeous and quite festive. Beautiful layers of flavour with the passion fruit shining through. I need to give their “Vitrine a Fromage” a moment. Located in the front half of the restaurant just opposite the bar area, sits this display case of mouth watering, drool worthy cheeses. From Brie aux Truffes to Roquefort Miraval to Chavre Buchette Frais Cendres to Delice de Bourgogne. They have a serious cheese showcase and I so want to return here, grab a glass of wine and just sit and eat cheese! Overall, Côte Brasserie ranks among the top dining spots in Edinburgh. It exudes an incredibly cosy and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff always on hand to offer guidance on menu and drink selections. The restaurant is priced in the medium range, and for the most part, the portion sizes are generally good – you'll leave feeling satisfied without being overly full.

I entered the restaurant today at 3:20 with my child and left quickly because of a rude (Asian) waitress. I called her 10 times and she did not answer so I could ask for a chair for the child. I think a restaurant of this level should appoint employees who will stay and fulfill the customers’ requests.

Food is spectacular. Everyone is extremely friendly and polite, constantly ensuring your every need is met. They have the best espresso martini in Europe (my personal opinion).

Me and my partner chose to go here as they have Gluten Free menu options which is fantastic, but as I also suffered with IBS and SIBO I asked if they could make a few extra changes to my dish. Phillip was so kind, patient and understanding and he accommodated my intolerance requests which made me feel so happy and grateful. Both Phillip and Pavel were very helpful and their customer service was impeccable. Highly recommend going here as the food is exquisite 😊👌🌟.

3 friends for my birthday. We had a lovely meal. We chose the 2 course menu which was great value for money. Starters of White Bate, Salad and Parfait. Mains of Mushroom Cassoulet woth sausage, Steak Frittes and Seabeam. We all loved our food. The wine was great. The manager then bought out a glass of bubbles for each of us to celebrate my birthday . Wow awesomeness.. We will be back

We have the best dinner here during our visit to Edinburgh. The service and dinners were fabulous. Deserts were a special treat.

Wonderful experience! We loved it! We were attended to by a Spanish guy who gave us some brutal recommendations. He was very attentive throughout the service and we felt very well taken care of. Very very good food and spectacular service.

We got asked for feedback but we forgot to do the QR code on our bill. Our server was Callum S who looked after us very well. We sat at the end of the restaurant in a lovely and quiet spot. Everything was prompt, apart the food took a while to arrive to us, everywhere looked busy so it was fine to wait. Callum checked on us to tell us an apology and that it won’t be long to arrive and offered us new drinks. We really enjoyed our food when it came and enjoyed our service so much

Early dinner at a restaurant we go to frequently. Our first visit since it was revamped inside. Attentive staff, good food. If you know the chain, you know what to expect. The new booths are a bit tight for the less svelte amongst us!

Food was great and well presented. Starters of calamari- lovely light batter and warm beetroot salad. Tuna in tuna nicoise seared and perfectly cooked. Boeuf bourginon excellent but needed side of chips for a larger appetite. Service was good though there was a delay with drinks ordered to accompany main courses. Once this was questioned they were promptly brought and not charged to the bill. Drinks were expensive-£5.60 for a 330ml lager. Apart from that we’d come back. Food and service good.

I was very underwhelmed by the food considering the price. We were being served by an italian girl who was very friendly and welcoming, we had zero complaints about her, it was mainly the food. We initially tried to order steak tartare, which they had ran out of (unfortunately), so my partner ordered the scalops for starter and 5oz steak frites, I ordered the cheese souffle and sirloin steak done medium well. The time it took to prepare the food was long and when it arrived the cheese soufflé was bland and then came the major disappointment; the sirloin was one of the worst steaks I've ever eaten in a restaurant. It just was just so dry, there wasn't much flavour, I bit into it and it was chewy, dry, had a weird texture and it was difficult to swallow, then my partner tried it and we both shared the same opinion. I reluctantly told the staff and they offered to prepare another, which was good. The thing i didnt appreciate was the manager trying to tell me it was my fault for requesting medium-well, she said i should ask for medium. I did, but, again it was not great. Considering rhe steak is like £27 I would have expected a better standard. I make a better steak myself and considering the price I would never go back. One thing I will say is that my partners thin cut steak was ok, but again I think it could have been better. I've had well done steaks more suculant than this. I recommend you try your steaks to offer better customer experience.

I loved coming here especially for the GF choice on offer. However since the stopped taking cash and went “card only”, I refuse to go back. Cash is king so use it or lose it!!!!

I used to use this restaurant quite a lot until they went card only. No way will I shop or eat anywhere that refuses my hard earned cash that's in my purse. So dissapointed that one of my favourite restaurants went down this route. CASH IS KING!

Cote will be closing for renovations for 3 weeks. Hoping sincerely when they re-open they review the toxic policy of 'cashless' payments only. Wanted to leave a tip for the staff yesterday and was told 'NO CASH'. VERY toxic route for a French restaurant no less.

Amazing atmosphere and really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately I hear you will be card only in the future, and this does not resonate with us. Customers should be giving the option of using their cash. My elderly grandparents love to eat out, and I recommended your restaurant, but as non card users it won't be an option for them. Hope you reconsider your decision to be inclusive to all the general public.

I stopped in the for an early morning coffee and chocolate croissant before catching the train. What a pleasant experience! It was the BEST coffee I had in Edinburgh, and the chocolate croissant was delicious. The host, Phillip was so kind and welcoming, and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him!

Really disappointing meal with friends, only 1 beer of 5 available from the drinks menu. Wait of 35 minutes for our meal to arrive which was wrong. Steaks cooked incorrectly & sauces which did not arrive despite asking the waiter several times. General feeling that the staff couldn’t care less. Would certainly not visit again.

Went there for dinner today. We frequently visited the Glasgow restaurant while it was still open, but this time it did not live up to expectations in the different venue. For one thing- you could just feel the kitchen was understaffed, waiting staff were also very stressed out, the place was very busy and guests were complaining on their orders ( for a reason). I'm not sure what's happening with the place, but management need to take care of their people and the quality of products served. We waited 40+ minutes for 2 salads and got a meal that was not prepared with fresh products- which did neither justify the price tag, or the time it took.

loved the breakfast, especially the croissant, which was absolutely amazing. It was clear that only high-quality ingredients were used, making every bite delicious! The only thing missing is the coconut milk.

The food took 45 minutes to arrive. The avocado toast with eggs was bland and the french toast came burnt. All in all a disappointing experience for the price.

The food was excellent steaks done perfectly and the birthday boy had duck Al orange. First time in for food. We have been several times for wine, which you have an excellent selection of. The team were very attentive and very welcoming We will definitely be back. :-)

Great visit to côte this evening, the food was great and we were given a lovely warm welcome on arrival. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and I'd happily eat here again

Visited here with my partner while on a weekend away in Edinburgh last month and I have to say we had a wonderful time. Although it was a Saturday night and very busy the service was absolutely excellent, staff were friendly and attentive and the food was amazing, would highly recommend .

WORST MEAL of our trip. It is overpriced and not worth the money. I ordered steak that comes with fried and salad. The steal and fried were small. They gave me a bunch of parsley with no dressing and called it a salad. Don't spend your hard earned money here !

My daughter and decided to treat ourselves to lunch somewhere nice. The prices are higher than we would normally pay but the food was worse every penny. The staff are very pleasant and made the treat more enjoyable

One of my favorite places to eat, sadly no more. gone the woke, exclusive, 'CARD ONLY' route, it is simply not possible to pay with cash. So so so bad. Just lost a customer, and many more as long as this absolute, prejudicial nonsense of 'cash-less' continues.

Wonderful staff and delicious food

Read positive reviews about this restaurant so we decided to try it ourselves and we were not disappointed. Firstly the staff are super attentive, friendly and so good. The food is first class with a great selection on offer. One of our diners was coeliac which was very well catered for with a separate menu. Overall I would thoroughly recommend, great atmosphere, well done, a fabulous meal.

Came here for a quick drink mid day. mostly because we had to go to the toilet. The manager (younger gentleman) gave us a table for 30 minutes because the place was fully booked. Big coke bottles with ice and lemon, this is why i give 5 stars for food. Place looked clean so 5 stars atmosphere. Service 2 stars because an older employee was really pushy and annoying, even while printing the bill, he obviously didn’t want us being there, even though we had fulfilled the dresscode. This treatment gave us a bit of a sour taste, that is why the full experience is a 3/5 for us.
