Weddingtons Fish & Chips in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Friendly staffs, food is good, chicken kebab slightly on the greasy side.

I went to weddington house, Chinese but it was closed. So I decided to get fish and chips instead. Yes it's nice and bright, with plenty of staff. Split into a kebab counter and a fish counter! I was served by two people.. Both fairly polite, but not there to be friendly, just there to do a job. One seemed to be a supervisor. I've not come across this before. Ample chips, a cheap commodity and under sized expensive fish, and a small pot of Luke warm, what appeared to be, watered down, mushy peas. Not what I'd call a nice place. It's a production line, end of. A one off visit that won't be repeated in a hurry.

Ordered chips chicken and mushroom pie and mushy peas. Received meat pie ? Cold peas and so much vinegar on chips couldn't eat them . Never again

I had a very pleasant experience. Staff was very friendly, the food was so tasty. The chips were so fluffy. Can't fault anything. Best chips I've had in a long time.

Foods alright,don't bother getting delivery,it will turn up 2hrs late,and when you phone up,no answer,it's the only place on just eat that they are horrendously late 😡

Love this place ,but to be honest feel unless you are a uber eats order then forget it ..2 people in store and still took 25mins to get served ... staff nice but under pressure ...shame

Food was ok. They need to concentrate on the customers in front of them queuing out of the door rather than dealing with justeat orders. Won’t be returning.

Food is ok, but be prepared to wait. Serve the Deliveroo gimps first and cook about 2 portions of chips at a time. Be prepared for a 30 - 40 queue time

Food was good and service was fast.

Pretty much inedible fish (and not the first time) batter would be better put to use resoling your shoe. Chips tasteless and soggy, staff polite enough but not particularly bright. Avoid.

Had our usual fishcake and chips, sausage and chips and as usual really nice. Staff really friendly and great prices. Definitely our favourite chippy to go to. Edit : Was really disappointed with our food today. We both ended leaving half our food. Chips were horrible. Soggy and tasteless is the best description I can think of. More staff I think are needed too. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be returning.

Have tried this chip shop a few times and it was always terrible… then I heard it had been taken over and now much better! Waited around 25 mins for a bag of chips despite all the Just Eat orders going out! Got home to open a bag of undercooked disgusting pile of greasy mush… Tried to revive them in our air fryer but even that didn’t work and another waste of time and money with them being binned! Probably the worse bag of chips ever… top award for weddingtons chip shop!!

The best fish & chips I had in years. Huge portions and very reasonable prices. Will definitely come back.

Ordered a chicken kebab in a pitta with salad yesterday for lunch and can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had in a long time. Portion serving was huge, chicken was tender and melted in the mouth, nice and hot….Since the management takeover, I’ve never seen this place quiet! Highly recommend and would definitely use again. Weddingtons is an absolute GEM of a chippy. So glad I found this one. There prices are really fair and really cheap, compared to other chip shops around the area. Food is hot fresh and they definitely use quality products because there chips are amazing. 😊 My hubby had fish and chips and even he was amazed. My brother is a really fussy eater .. he had chicken kebab - he was amazed how good it was. This chippy definitely won our vote, see you next Friday guys, and keep up the fantastic work you guys are doing 👍🏻

My wife has just bought me a kebab in pitta bread,we live 1minute away, when she got home the meat was obviously left over from dinner time over cooked,dry, and cold (very cold) picked it up and the pitta bread fell apart, very little salad , unfortunately it was the same last time (3 months ago) but gave it a second chance because it's local, photo's available if required, in my view stay well clear try horsten grand 👍

This was once a great chip shop, but recently the chips are are undercooked. I don't know why they only put a small amount of chips in to cook and rush them. Please improve, as the is no need to be so bad!!

I visited this week on monday for the first time, the 3 young ladies were very polite and made sure the order was done quickly and correctly. They looked like they were enjoying themselves, and it is lovely to see them happy at work. I was very pleased with their services. Definitely coming back next week!!

Staff were rude,I had fish n chips too greasy,wife had a kebab and tasteless,previous owners were lovely and food was excellent,gone down hill since they left.won’t be visiting them again or recommend.

Fish what fish pure slide off batter absolutely shocking i would seriously rethink your food standards or you wont make trading a year chips were stuck together because of the curry sauce and peas pie was cold a bog standard order not worth ordering... Never again will i be ordering from this establishment

Just moved into the area.. so myself and the Mrs went for a walk to get used to the area, I’m not the one to leave review, but I feel I had to on this occasion. and came across this chippy. Gotta be the best Fish and chips I’ve had in years. Cooked freshly and tasted so good. Mmmmmm mouth was watering .. lol To be fair we’re from London and the cost of fish and chips there is around £15. Weddington chippy is so well priced. I couldn’t actually believe it, I even asked the lady are you sure you got that right lol. Thank you weddington chippy we’re be back Friday for sure

Fantastic chippy, prices are brilliant. Fresh hot food served. When a chippy has queues running out it’s doors, that’s usually a sign the chippy is a 5 star chippy. Been to a lot of chippies around Nuneaton this one has my vote all day. Fantastic work guys keep up the good work.

The range was empty when come in for my food, got told food was In pan , but person frying forgot to put food in , had to wait half hour for my food to be cooked and served Never again

Terrible staff and the food is awful! Stay away! This place has 0 customer service and doesn’t take kindly to feedback when negative which many excellent/professional businesses would welcome and use to improve there quality. In my opinion avoid this place it’s the worst I’ve ever experienced.

Tonight, Friday, a traditionally busy night I joined the back of the queue at 6.35pm. I got served at 7.15pm! No urgency whatsoever from Jas who was frying fish, just 3 at a time! Customers getting irate with the 3 staff taking orders. Annoyingly, Uber drivers getting served as a priority. Large cods being cut in half and sold as mini fish, soggy bland and undercooked chips and luke warm mushy peas made this a very unmemorable visit. My main concern was Allergen information displayed, but clearly ignored as I watched Jas using the same container of batter to coat fish (Allergy item) and potato scallops! I think she believed the hot oil would extinguish the fish allergy risk! Whilst it WAS a poor visit, no blame attached to the 2 girls and young bearded man who were doing their very best. Notice to the new owners.......Friday/Saturday evening's after 5.30pm, you will be VERY busy for at least 2 hours.....cook more items so we don't queue in the cold.

Top Chippy 14/01/23 Not such a top chippy now, service very slow, especially the girl who served me. Portion size smaller. Batter on fish and sausage soggy. Probably the last time I will go here

Horrendous queues, can't cook food quick enough, paid with cash, no change in the till, was told would have to wait for change, as if I had not waited long enough. Eventually got served, 2x minute walk home, chips were soggy pies were Luke warm . Won't be going again.

Appears to be under new management and not better for it. Suspect new suppliers, new batter mixes, smaller portions etc. Shame, the previous owners worked hard to offer consistently good food.

Food is always cooked to perfection. Fish and chips and kebabs always on point. Friendly staff and always welcoming. And the prices compared to other chippy is so much better. Excellent chip shop.

Sucsess tonight in a correct order. Somehow usually gets messed up. An average chippy but convenient If chips aren't soggy it's a bonus. Some staff members make it obvious that the do not want to be there. An OK chippy but with some interested and customer focused staff who can cook crispy chips could make this chip shop one of the best in town

The place looked clean and the staff were obviously very busy and, with the weather the way is now, very hot. I bought chips from here some 10+ years ago and thought they were good but I don't live in Nuneaton so it is not a local source of fish and chips. Unfortunately whilst it all looked good the chips were quite dry and the fish, whilst beautifully fried, did not have much flavour. I write this, not to slag these people off, but in the hope that they can act positively to fair comments.

Friendly staff and service but food was disappointing. Cod and chips,haddock and chips ordered. Haddock was better but not great. Cod was very small and rather tasteless. Chips a bit bland and generic.

Just came back tonight Friday 12th November. With mini fish chips and sausage and chips . Fish was raw inside and batter not even cooked properly. Absolutely disgusting chips were soggy , saying we were waiting for chips then you get them soggy . Sorry they weren’t fresh chips . Won’t be going again

Very pleasant staff,choice is varied,cooked to perfection and well worth the money The safety measures,which are still in place are second to non.

Fantastic friendly chippy . The haddock was especially very tasty. Car parking just outside . Couldn't fault it . Wish they could move the shop to Coventry ! Lol 😜. If we are in the area again we will deffo stop by . Actually we may even just drive back there to get a good chippy supper . Next time we fancy it . It was well worth it . Food was hot and freshly cooked although only a limited selection was available no battered sausage which is what I wanted, but it tasted delicious.

This is THE place to be if u want the best fish and chips,kebab,battered sausage,infact everything ,we live in hilltop by the George eliot hospital so it's a little bit of a treck for us but very well worth it,dont pass this place up if u get the chance you will not regret it.

I've been going here for a while everything is pretty good food wise just like every chippy around here they all seem to taste pretty much the same! The only chippy I really loved in Nuneaton was whales chippy, their chips were the best by a country mile shame they closed/sold it. One other thing I don't like with this chippy and it's why I knocked some stars off was the parking it's terrible,if it's busy especially at night trying to pull out is a nightmare and there's only room for about 3 cars outside the shop. Apart from that it's fairly decent but the plastic face boards they put up for covid is laughable it doesn't cover the whole section of the serving area so really the workers should be wearing a mask as that wouldn't protect them at all if someone coughed with covid.

Portion sizes are an absolute joke, wouldn't even feed a toddler - fill up the kebabs with salad and with tiny amounts of meat the large was smaller than a small - Also the same with the chips - such a shame as the food is actually nice but definitely not worth the money.

On the surface efficient and friendly shop, food looks ok but cod roe ordered had wet, sodden batter and not sure how often they change cooking oil as chips tasted strange.

Ordered 2 kebabs and large chips. Food was cold, chips soggy and more than half of the kebabs filled with salad and it pittas that were broken up! Won’t be going back again. Feel robbed of my money.

Customer service is absolutely shocking from most of the staff. Food is inedible as has been sitting there for hours, and prices are shocking for the food. Definitely won't be going again and will not recommend to anyone.
