Horrible food and awful customer service from the staff

Ordered through Just Eat as a treat. Delivery estimated for 6.20pm to 6.40pm delivery, it turned up at 5.40pm! The portion size of the large chips was half a large tray, and was no larger than the small cheesy chips we also ordered. But the large cheesy chips we also ordered was a normal large portion.The southern fried chicken was greasy. Won't be using this chip shop again. Food was luke warm. Streak and kidney pie was just steak, no kidney.

Ordered though uber eats and a pizza I ordered did not come, I had them on the phone and they said it was a problem on THEIR end that the payment for the pizza had not come through. I work in the food industry myself so I don't normally get angry with people on the phone about these things because USUALLY the problem gets sorted without any such need. Working in this industry myself I would never just give someone half an order as all orders should be honoured especially when the problem lies on our end and I would at least call beforehand if there was a problem when a number had been provided for the order. The uber driver turned up with just a burger on its own and 6 chicken nuggets, which would not feed two hungry people! After talking to them in the phone to the point of anger for over 15 minutes they said they would send the pizza out to me which did calm me down as that is the correct response. They also said that they have had this problem before and they have still honoured the order as they agreed it was the right thing to do. After a couple of minutes I get a text come through asking for me to send proof that the order was paid for! Should NOT be my responsibility nor should I have to put myself through that hassle and then someone called me back to say that I had to send proof or they will not send me my full order. I was livid again and told them to just forget as I didn't care anymore now! I was not offered any form of compensation or any ammendments so I told them to just keep the money and forget it because I was sick of being angry and I ordered from somewhere else instead. AVOID unless you want to be robbed!

Will never order from Castaways again, third time now something is missing from the order, tastes like it's been warming all day, not fresh, disgusting 🤢 doesn't even deserve 1 star but had to put a rating

Went into the restaurant, waited over 10 minutes to be served. The fridge that the drinks are kept in has brown stuff all inside under the drinks. The worker who was going to serve us was going to reuse someone else's food box and when he started taking our order he walked off and started stripping donner meat. The tables were dirty and it smelled really bad. The entire restaurant was in a terrible state. Would not recommend

Bless the young blonde that's served me and My boyfriend, she was stopped serving to answer the phone of which I heard she was spoken badly to. The wait was understandable but the quality was poor. Chicken was undercooked . Good thing I cut it before i bite it. I will go back and have a word as this is far from the normal standard xxx Got pics for proof 8/7/24 18.40

Restaurant definitely has seen better days. Behind the counter is very run down and doesn't look clean at all. The chips were bright orange and had a funky taste, and we're very salty. Won't be going back again.

This chippy used to be really good but now the food is disgusting, chips were greasy, donor meat was burnt and not edible. I'll be avoiding this chippy from now on.

The staff were stressed about some teenagers hanging around but served nice and friendly. Hats off to them for that.

Just ordered £30 worth of food for family of 4 as late from work tonight & it was absolutely awful. Can’t fault the delivery but the food was almost inedible. Chips, soggy & swimming in grease, most were either black or green, pitta bread was rock hard & would have cracked floor tiles if dropped. No salad with the kebab, just meat & pitta.. By the time we had picked out the chips from two portions that we felt we could actually eat we had a handful each. 1st time I have ever used this place & definitely the last.. my advice.. avoid at all costs. I wish I’d done beans on toast!!

Ordered from them a long time but this time it was awful. Ordered large fish and chips twice, 1 small curry sauce and i small tray of donner meat as usual. The batter was uncooked and soggy on the fish. Hardly any chips not even a cone in it. Old hard donner meat under new meat. The chips were hard. WONT B ORDERING AGAIN!! Have they been taken over by new people? 3 times had 2 say phone number and address, kept getting it wrong then had a call from wrong address to ask where we were! £27.00 for rubbish!!

Ordered from here delivery, This used to be my favourite place to order from I don’t know if its changed hands but recently there food is Dyer the mushy peas was just green water with 10% peas in it no flavour, the spicy chicken wings were not done properly like they were undercooked or just badly cooked, curry sauce was watery to just like the peas, What’s Happened to you castaway you were a 10/10 now 2/10 I’m going to have to find elsewhere to order from now this is very sad.

Food very poor do not buy unless you can see food. Reheats, chips not fresh.

Possibly if you're really desperate. Cutlery filthy. First four choices from the menu on the wall not available. Could not understand what the guy who took my order was saying. All in all, I doubt we'll be back. The cup of tea was good.

Be very careful when you are going to pay for your food as the main guy that works there will try to short change you. As I paid for small chips and curry sauce which costs £3.70 and I should have got £6.30 back, I got £1.30 and and they tried to keep £5.00 for them selves.

Will not be ordering again. The chips were cooked In old oil at a guess. It tasted like it hadn't been changed in over a week. The fish was just well not good. It didn't taste like cod. It had no flavour to it and the battery was thick and stodgy. Definitely gone down hill since changed hands. Very disappointed as was looking forward to it. I think you need to look at everything that you do as you have alot of bad reviews and you don't seem to care by the looks of things. I hope things improve for your sake and your customers

Fish was good. But chips were rock hard. Obviously left overs from lunch time warmed up. The mushy peas were a piss take, all we got in the tubs was pea juice. Shall not order again.

If you love greasy food and over salted food, food that tastes like rubber then this is absolutely the place for you !

First time eating from Castaway and boy was I disappointed.The lamb kebab was well cooked and delicious but the chips…was so nasty.I could feel the oil melting from every bite of the chip.Just hated it.I really hope they improve on their chips please.But other than that the portion was huge and the environment was very nice and clean.

My relatives came for fish and chips but the batter was like a Michelin car tyre was that thick. Peas were watery and the two chaps serving today were rude. Should have had a refund really. Won’t be coming back!

I was gonna have a nice breakfast, but you open after 3pm on Sunday. 11 am on working days, I don't understand why do you have breakfast on the menu....

I had jacket potato with cheese and beans and lettuce it was nice quite good value but not enough cheese. My husband and friend both wanted a breakfast but they only had breakfast baps, we asked for it to be plated instead so they had one sausage sliced , one egg, small portion of luke warm beans, mushrooms and no bap was given. This breakfast was very poor for the price, at £6 the drink should have been free.

Been going here for a good few years saw the owners take over they have been serving the community with a smile and good food located across the road from the Bus station it's ideal. simple food, small price, full belly and a big smile

Used these twice now spending over £50 and we’ve not had an order which has been correct. First instance promised refund and to allow 3/4 days. Two weeks later I call them back and they then tell me I need to contact Uber eats, disappointing. 2nd instance £6 for a jacket potato takes the pi$$ very small and very dry. We also ordered kebab meat with special instructions adding garlic mayo and replace the chips with salad. We receive the garlic mayo but with chips, when calling the store they advised they cannot see the special instructions and when I questioned them about the garlic mayo they couldn’t answer that. They also then start to blame third-party which is Uber eats because they cannot see all the instructions, I don’t think so. Food is expensive, quality is not good and and we’ve not had a correct order on the two times we ordered. I wouldn’t recommend ordering from them

I've been here before and was happy with the service untill today. Went in today and the "owner" was rude- as in poor customer service was provided. No smiling welcome, was very abrupt and just didn't feel welcome at all. When ordered large portion he provided us with medium. We noticed how.everyone else had bigger portions compared to us. I remember buying large portion and it feeding two of us and this was few weeks ago. The food serving for a large meal for 8 pound is appauling atm. And same with this gentlemans attitude.

Great place food was excellent the prices are decent and the staff are superb. They still insist on full covid 19 guidelines don't comply don't go in. Allowed inside for food eating but this is limited and they are strict about covid masks and sanitisation inside as well as takeaways. I felt very safe here. Open good hours.

When I went for a takeaway, they were so fast! I also ordered delivery on Just Eat and my food came in only 15 Minutes! This restaurant is so fast and the staff are super nice and will always work extra hard to get your order done quickly! The food is always delicious too!

Ordered from here tonight. Absolutely discusting!! Beans just chucked over chips and they were burnt and dried up. Fish was mushy and for the price I paid is a discrace! When phoned to speak with owner he wouldn't do anything about it as it was delivered half an hour ago. When I explained that was because I was feeding my little one his dinner he put the phone down on me!!!

We ordered castaways and it came before the time it was meant to which is excellent service. The chips were so tasty as they always are however the pizzas from here are one of the worse things ive ever tasted, my children wouldn't even eat them. I wont be ordering a pizza again thats for sure!

I would have recommended this place but not anymore as we were told by a delivery driver that all we do is moan. My partner ordered a large kebab and when it arrived it was a small portion. We called to say that we had ordered a large but was sent a small portion. When the driver came out again with another order, he told us that management said that all we do is complain. We used to be regular customers but we will never order from them again. It is a true saying that the customer is always right but not as far as castaways is concerned. If there was a no star option they would have got that.

Food is good. But I had an issue with a Kebab when on the Menu it said Large Donner £6-00 then when it was delivered it was small. When I Phoned to make a point. When I ordered another meal the driver told me that Castaways had said I do nothing but moan. I WON'T be ordering Food here ever again. I did say I would recommend this restaurant but NOT ANYMORE. Food and Hygiene should visit this place undercover to see what there food is like. I did think the Staff were great but to be told by a driver I moan then Castaways can get to Fxxk. When I was a CONSTANT regular Customer they treat me like this they have lost me I WOULD not be ordering from them EVER AGAIN

Considering the lockdown these guys are super fast . The quality of the food is high and it came piping hot, 10 minutes after I ordered off just eat. Certainly a great chippy option with tasty kebab

Chips is why i give this place a 1* review it is literally the only thing never failed me First time i had burger and chips - Chips was great burger was dryer than dry, no butter sauce or nothing Second time I had faggot, chips and peas - Faggot's was nothing but skin Third time (unfortunately) I had Spring Roll, Chips and peas - Spring roll was nothing but grease and tasted disgusting even 4 hours later and lots of drinks My sister had chips, scallop and battered sausage - the battered sausage was under cooked and the scallop was dry One time fair enough but not three won't be eating here ever again unless its chips!

Ordered on just eat on bus station bbq page so that's what I was expecting, half way through my kebab I found a dead fly covered in grease, phoned bus station bbq they said they didn't deliverd to my address, looked back on just eat and found out it was castaways, the person I spoke to didn't seemed bothered, just moaned that I didn't phoned up straight away, I would have phoned straight away but couldn't, it's been reported to just eat, gave a star because I had to,

just had a takeaway for lunch at work only because i couldn't get out to a shop to buy anything else and tbh i wish i had of waited till end of day there food was so bad the burger was bland and could tell it was cheap beef (if it was even beef)the chips were so greasy and i had to make it up to £10 to get the delivery so i had to order something else so had the mozzarella sticks, the sticks wernt to bad at the start but 2 mins after eating them all i can taste is old oil as if they have been sat for a while and wormed back up . also the guy who took my order was rude as well,definitely wont go back there! so to sum it up i had one burger with chips and cheese a portion of mozzarella stick and a bottle of coke zero all for £12.50 .. shocking . posted by mark

They claim to feed the homeless yet the homeless guys that sleep in the bus stop shelter oppesite say they always turn them away !!! So i fed the homeless blokes today .,. as castaways lie and only advertise it to get sympathy customers thinking castaways care !!! Castaways attracted the homeless to nuneaton when they first opened with there feed the homeless policy & now they wont feed them anything !!!!

Not a bad fish and chip Shop. Conveniently located in the bus station and has seating so you could have something to eat while you wait for your bus. Staff are friendly. Food appears to be fresh and to a high standard. Price and portions are just right.

I don't often take time to add a review but I'm always happy with the food at this place, the owner is very friendly, even gave me a free buttered bread roll as I could only make a card payment and I'd already paid for my meal. I have a mixed kebab meat and chips, sitting in, kebab/chicken meat is good quality as far as kebab meat goes, well worth a visit if your in town. P.s. they also deliver. :)

When this first opened this was fantastic, now I've had good from this place twice this week and I'll definitely not be ordering from here again........... Things need to be improved for me to come back, and when you get an order wrong take responsibility and not make out it was right when it wasn't........... If it was right I wouldnt of been ringing up would I now 🤦‍♀️
