My visit was for a lunch with friends. The pub was their local but not one they frequented but it was convenient. My visit was memorable for all the right reasons. I was welcomed at the bar with smiles and I explained that one of the party has allergies. The checking of ingredients was really thorough, the food came and it was hot, freshly cooked and delicious. I appreciated all the effort that went in to ensure me and my party had a great time. Totally worthy of recommendation and return visits.

We as a family went for a Birthday meal as the title says, Sunday afternoon on a Bank Holiday. We'd booked a table or my daughter had for seven people ~ 4 adults and 3 children. My adult son and myself arrived first. On entering I went to the bar and told the youg female member of staff that we had booked a table. After checking the booking, she informed me that the table wasn't quite ready and would be a few minutes. So odrered a couple of drinks for ourselves while chatting to the female bar person. Realising she didn't have a local accent, she told me she'd been in Cheshire since Jan this year and how she loved the area. This seemed to be a great start to our visit. Anyway we were informed our table was ready, sorted by the manergeress I think so we took our seats waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. Which in due course they did. Requirements for food were deliberated and my son & daughter went to order with table number memorised 39 3 main meals, 1 carvery & kids meals were ordered this was 5.30 pm. when the food was ordered, mine being being gammon my son was asked egg or pineapple with it. Well being my birthday thought lets go wild and have both only 67 once ! the place was pretty empty way more empty seats than occupied at this time of day. it took well over 30 minutes for the food to be ready due to steaks being cooked. When the food was ready the member of our party who had ordered the carvery found out that there was only scraps left and nothing else was being cooked for it. Ok she could have ordered another main but tis would have meant she would have eaten at least 30 minutes after the rest of us. So she settled for two sweets instead of the carvery because it was easier to get them out of the kitchen My meal the gammon came out with no Pineapple, thought i'd mis read the menu but NO menu clearly says Egg AND Pinepple. When we were served the food no cutlery was given to us. we had to ask and then even had to ask for steak knife's ~ seven sat there !!! staring at our food Eventually all eaten, well mostley because of smaller servings I think which is due to cost of living I guess, options for extra food were available but at extra cost ie extra chips, onion rings extra slice on Carvery (That would have been pointless) Waited a while for empty plates & glasses to be collected. They never were my son took the empty glasses to the bar (he's a barman in another establishment) and my daughter stacked all the plates on the table, they wer'nt moved. So we ordered some sweets. took a good while but they came, the sweets that is but no cutlery. Again we had to request this. member of staff fetched a handfull of spoons out and individually handed one to each person holding the spoons between her own thumb and forefinger ~ not the most hygenicway to do so. I pescnally had ordered Apple crumble and ice cream. this came with the apple crumble in a bowl sat on a plate, when I first looked couldn't see any ice cream but it was there under the side of the bowl on the plate. Halve you ever tried to eat ice cream from under a bowl with just a spoon! I have now

Oh my! What have they done to this once great spot?? The food is honestly terrible! By far the worst place for food in Northwich and possibly the whole of Cheshire. I had a mega mixed grill as I am a big eater and like to try all the different meats etc. There was 2 4oz pieces of gammon, 2 of steak and a chicken breast. The 2 pieces of gammon turned out like one was cooked the other day and reheated, and the other piece was under. The chicken breast was squidgy soft! It was all really poor to be fair. My wife had a steak which was poorly cooked and tasted sour, like old meat, she opted for the lighter version which is supposed to come with quinoa and brown rice, which it didn't. It just came with what can only be described as a garden. We told the staff that it wasn't right and asked where the rest was, she came out with a tiny bit of quinoa in a bowl, no rice and was told that chef says that's how it comes. No blame to the young member of staff trying to explain the chefs directions as she was very nice and put in an awkward situation. Shame on you Weavers Whistle! We will not be retuning anytime soon and would highly recommend that you chose somewhere else to eat too!

Up to last month I was a regular here. Location, decoration, facilities, parking everything I like about this pub, including a food hygiene rating of 5, I often joke that lottery win notwithstanding, that it would make a perfect house! Staff are great and do their best under challenging circumstances. It is the challenging circumstances that cause me to write this review. Food - gone from good to burnt offerings with an unapologetic cook. Service - staff do their best, but regularly purchased wines beers out of stock routinely, they do their best tp cover the apallingly cooked food, but the last challenge for an incinerated gammon and forgotten prawns was "what do u want me to do?" Observations - my son worked here many moons ago and received strong management support to be able to deliver a service that Marston's would require. Current staff are pretty much left to "cover". Result is a slow decline of everything that was once good. This may be temporary, I hope it is, but it has forced me to look and go elsewhere this last month, unlikely to return soon.

Waited 45 minutes for our food. Out of our party of 6, 3 had meals, 3 had carvery. No chef serving carvery, just a kitchen assistant who was putting out fresh items instead of serving. No mashed potato, no gravy, no napkins, had to get our own condiments. Assistant serving meals went to wrong table with 1st meal! Will not return and wouldn't recommend.

Waited over 30 mins for food when pub wasn’t at all busy. When it arrived the rare and medium steaks were very over cooked (well past well done), dry and tough. Would have returned them but didn’t have time for the meals to be cooked again. Very disappointed.

So, would love to write a wonderful review here as the place is pretty good, most of the colleagues on our night were new and are really doing their best, very friendly and helpful. But the food is pretty mediocre cauliflower wings over fried, and served at wrong time, beer was questionable, but easy for the travel Lodge next door, where we were staying, Don’t be put off just be aware basic pub grub.

Good pub, lovely beer garden when the weathers nice. Staff seem rushed off their feet, usually just two out front but do a great job at catering for everyone. Young gentleman with glasses was lovely and had a great work ethic. Think they need more staff.

Had a party of 11 here on Fathers Day, with the majority of us ordering carvery’s, with three others ordering off the menu. The pub was not relatively busy, however waited 45/50 mins for 2 burgers (one of which was wrong) and fish. Went up to the carvery and the dishes were practically empty. Asked if there were any fresh ready to come out which they called for assistance in the kitchen and stated they will be out in a minute. They didn’t arrive. Found it funny when they placed the plate on the scales to weigh the piece of fat they were giving us. After our main meals the plates were not cleared even though we had ordered a dessert. A further 40 minute wait for this. Asked for the Banoffee Chocolate tart with vegan ice cream, stating this three times at the till even though the screen said no intolerance and the member of staff confirmed ‘yeh they’ll tell them when it’s gone through’. This was then brought out and the waiter then huffed after being told we asked for vegan ice cream and had to take it back. Not a very pleasant experience at was once a nice pub to dine in. Unlikely to go back unless service and standards improve

I was staying in the neighbouring Travellodge and so decided to have dinner here. I ordered scampi and a few pints of cider. The portion of scampi was unbelievably large! I've never been served so much of a rather expensive dish - and the price was absolutely standard. Unfortunately a couple of the scampi had been overcooked and the taste of burnt food rather infected the other pieces. The bar staff were very friendly, the girl clearing tables was unwilling to communicate more than a smile. I was there to do research, and made use of their free wifi for three hours - very good connection. As I sat, a pub quiz started up, and it was hard not to get involved in the questions. It sounded great fun! Generally positive experience in a lovely, spaxcious interior.

We arrived at 5.15pm on Mother's Day to find the restaurant relatively busy. We had not booked and waited a short time for a table. Other customers had placed their belongings on the table and the staff made no offer or attempt to clean the table. I ordered the food, a mixture of menu items and carvery. The menu item arrived quickly, without the opportunity for people to visit the carvery to be able to eat together. No cutlery was provided, and when requested was not sufficient for 4 people. The food was not good. The menu item, a burger, was exceptionally small in size for the price. The carvery was worse. There was no turkey, stuffing or mashed potato, the reason given was that it was late (5.30pm by this point.) The meat that was present was poor quality, very fatty and inedible in parts. The gravy was basically brown flavourless water and the vegetables were over done. All in all, not worth the £58.51 I spent and I will be contacting the establishment.

Very disappointing that they were not doing breakfast as it`s linked to Lostock Travelodge. The evening menu looked promising, however a few things were unavailable and it was a good job we went over early from the Travelodge as they stopped serving food around 7pm! It was a Sunday so maybe they had just been busy. A friend had only just arrived and we managed to get them to offer them a limited choice. All three of us had the pie & chips which was nice, however two of us were sick soon after getting back to the room.

Ordered my meal at the bar and paid as is their policy.. the pub was very quiet and my food was soon served . I had a steak and ale pie chips n peas .. the meal was very small and as I was eating it I was looking at the dessert menu because I knew I would still be hungry after I’d finished it . I went to the bar and ordered my dessert and paid .. I then sat for half an hour waiting for.. I asked a waitress where it was and she said she would look into it and I then sat another 15 mins waiting. I decided to find something at home instead and went to the bar for a refund .. they refused saying it wasn’t on the system and even more annoying the young man behind the bar said I hadn’t ordered anything . I called him a little s&@t and was asked to leave . When I got home I checked my bank account and found the money for the dessert had left my account..! I rang to explain this and the manager refused to listen to my argument and instead talked over me and still claimed I was not on the system . I won’t be going there again ..!!

We used to come to the Weaver’s a lot for drinks and a few games of pool, and were always treated well by Tyler and his team.. since the new ownership however, standards have slipped to unrecognisable levels when it comes to customer service! We were used to being greeted with a smile and a chat, however these are few and far between under the new regime. The staff seem unmotivated, and it genuinely feels a chore to get any sort of service from them. The atmosphere has gone, the friendliness has gone, and the whole enjoyment of the visit is slowly slipping away. I hate to pick out any individual in a negative review, however the young blonde lady who I believe is a manager owing to her never wearing full black like other staff, is by far the worst offender for this. We visit the pub regularly, and I have never once seen a smile nor received anything but blunt comments from her. I genuinely feel disheartened when I see her behind the bar as I know we’re in for a difficult ride. Normally I wouldn’t go down this route, but after tonight’s visit it feels that enough is enough. We arrived at 20:45 to be informed they were closing at 9. There were still guests in the pub, and all of the music had been turned off, half of the lights turned off, and most of the bar appearing to be closed down. The aforementioned manager seemed so disappointed that we decided to stay for a drink, and that she had to serve this to us! Not only did was all of this the case, but the tv that I was watching was turned off whilst I was in the room! As a former pub manager myself, I am truly gobsmacked by what we experienced! There is also the issue of prices at the pub at the moment, wow are they high! But I do feel I have given the new landlord enough to reflect on and fix in the meantime! As regulars to the Weavers, we’re so disappointed to see how much it has fallen, and whilst this may be teething problems, it has nearly been two months since the new manager took over and so we’re probably past that now! I look forward to hearing what the manager has to say in response to this situation, and let’s hope for the sake of what was a great pub, that it is taken on board for improvement.

Good Saturday evening with family for a few drinks. Fairly quiet for a Saturday night considering a weekend!! Have worked in hospitality years ago before retirement (running a few pubs) Quick service at the bar, but think being quiet it was may have had something to do with it. Very friendly young lad behind the bar, can't remember his name but helpful and friendly - tall lad with glasses on. Only issueconcern I would have is the drink pricing. Considering it is a pub next to houses and not a town centre pub, the pricese appear to be that on the level you'd pay in a town centre and not "local" pub prices. Over £6 for a pint of Peroni ??!! The brewery need to take a look at their pricing for a local pub. They had sports and that has now been removed. That coupled with the bar prices, no wonder it was quiet. Maybe if it wasn't for a larger group (near entrance) the pub might have been empty. Learned that they are regulars and in weekly, a couple almost daily. They definetly are loyal, and probably if not for them the pub may be long gone. I hope the brewery appreciate people like that, but from my experience breweries are more interested about the money and forget the people that keep pubs alive. If I was still in the game I'd make sure those regulars are kept happy...they are the bread and butter of that place. Hope to see them again next time we're in, just have to save a bit more money though.

We have eaten here a few times now with our little dog, staff very friendly, there are obvious signs about the parking with a tablet at the bar to enter your reg number, the pin is displayed next to this. Good range of food quickly served, twice when we came they were recovering from disastrous floods so the menu was slightly limited, the food was still good though. Lovely setting to sit out by the river and regular entertainment at weekends. Keep it up Red Lion!
