Despite living in the area for the best part of 20yrs, I'd never used this Takeaway before as it's a little out of the way. However, I recently found myself close by & thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did. Despite it being the Summer Hols & them having numerous orders already on the go, I walked in, placed my order and walked out with my food in under 20mins! And the food was amazing, well cooked, still hot after I got home 30mins later, good portion sizes and the prices were slightly cheaper than our usual takeaway. I'll definitely be back!!

My family and I have eaten here twice in recent years whilst visiting the area. The food is nice and is very reasonably priced. It also seems to be a very popular takeaway with locals! I agree with earlier reviews that mention some of the rather unauthentic frozen veg used in certain dishes. However, given the takeaway is in rural Cornwall away from the big Chinese cash and carry suppliers then I can forgive them for improvising. Will definitely be visiting again next time we’re in the area.

Had Singapore chowmein and sechuan chicken both had cauliflower and brocoli florets and frozen mixed veg, peas small diced carrot sweetcorn and green beans. Don't know if this is normal for this part of the world but not like anything I have experienced in Kent,Sussex or London. The chewy chicken in both dishes was very unpleasant. Spice ratings very misleading.... 3 pepper = very hot for sechuan, but was very mild. 1 pepper Singapore was far more spicy ( V hot) Also had pancake roll. This was dripping with oil and although hot at one end , the beansprouts were cold at the other. There was a steady stream of customers picking up orders while we waited, so can't decide if it is because there is no local competition or if we just happened upon the worst dishes. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely give this place a miss.

There were 11 of us staying by locally for a holiday. We phoned in an order to collect. It was huge. Food was ready in about 20 minutes. It was excellent. All dishes bar one was very good, tasty and hot. Would definitely use and recommend. (One down point was the Kung Po chicken which was mostly random veg with very little discernible chicken. Not very nice at all).

Had two meals from here whilst on holiday.Really good service, food excellent. Good value. Good parking for collection.

Singapore chow mein was devoid of meat, i had to search for it amongst the noodles. Shame as was spicy tasty and could have been so much nicer. Plus cash only, which nowadays is a right pain.

I have driven past this Chinese hundreds of times and only stopped as needed food for the evening and staying in the caravan at Stoke Barton. I am so pleased I did, my niece had chicken chow mein and said it was the best she had ever tasted. I tried some and agreed. I had a massive pancake roll (the outside was fried thick batter although tasty, maybe too much!) I ate it all though. And then I had king prawn rice and curry sauce. The pancake roll was so big, I had the rice and curry the next day. It was all tasty, I would recommend and will be going back. Large car park, takeaway only. Worth a drive. Kept boiling hot for about 10 miles.

Had a take away one evening whilst holidaying in north Devon and we both said it was the best Chinese takeaway we’ve had,the food was well cooked,plenty of it and delicious I’ve never seen a pancake roll so big

This is a very good Chinese takeaway. Priced reasonably and food was very good. An efficient service by staff who were very helpful

Whilst on a weekend break we chose a takeaway for our evening meal. Whist the reviews were mixed, we were pleased we gave them a go. Food was great! Lady taking orders etc was super efficient. She mentioned they were a staff member down but whilst waiting for our order she was racing between taking orders over the phone, serving customers in store and collecting food from the chefs to hand over to awaiting customers. She literally didn’t stop. Top marks.

Absolutely horrendous...£53 for bad service and worse food. lpre-ordered at about 5pm for 7pm collection - arrived on strike of 7pm, kept waiting for 25 minutes, no apology, got food back to our accommodation only to unpack burnt chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken with what must be an invisible sauce, kung po chicken that had clearly been made using frozen veg straight out the bag and the blandest, most stodgy rice..... appalling appalling appalling!!!!!

Chose this takeaway as seemed the best locally. The chicken chow mein was dry. The chicken balls were quite inedible; huge in size, over cooked; have never seen anything like them before. Won’t be going back.

decided to stay in and have a takeaway chose the Wayside due to the proximity of our caravan site not disappointed food was delicious - good value for money and was still piping hot when I returned to the caravan some 4 miles away

Awful service left waiting for ages on the phone while she served walk in customers! When we got our food it was terrible tasteless chewy rubbish! Really don’t bother!

Really pleased with the Chinese meal lovely flavours great value for money, and social distancing was dealt with very well. Keep up the good work and look forward to another takeaway next year. Brilliant thank you

Great food, really tasty! We had takeaway from here twice whilst staying in Woolsery - it’s about 9 miles away but well worth the trip! Place was spotless and social distancing/face masks in use by staff. It does not take cards - cash only which was the only negative.

Im visiting kilkhampton with my partner and really fancied a chinese, ordered really easily on the phone, full menu on their website. Was ready when we went to pick up. The duck was delicious honestly the best we have ever had! Not greasy, very tastey decent sized portions. Will be back in a few months on our next visit!

The best prawn crackers! This takeaway is lovely, we’ve had a meal here a few times and everytime it has been great. The sweet and sour chicken balls and beef in ginger and spring onion are some of the best dishes that we have ever had! The only thing I would love is for the prawn toast and spring rolls to be slightly less well done.

A really lovely take away! Had food twice during our holiday from here! It was all freshly cooked and piping hot! The flavours were delicious- highly recommend

Quick food, plenty of parking and fresh veg, it wasn’t too greasy ! Great value for money it is just outside the village.

Ordered a large takeaway from here last night and must congratulate them on providing a superb takeaway. Every dish was cooked to perfection, hot, tasty, large portions, and discovered a new tasty dish which is my new favourite...the Singapore Chow Mein was delicious. Polite and cheerful staff on the desk, quick efficient service and all 13 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food....

sorry but below average not a good taste chicken curry rice was not good either chips below par and mushrooms in sauce /gravy was not good felt like taking it all back to them but would not want the hassle ,it took us 6 hours to get there and we were hungry and left most of it .

We were staying nearby and wanted a quick and easy dinner so ordered from Wayside. The food was ready nice and quick and was of a good standard. Be warned it is cash only.

We had a lovely Chinese meal from our only local takeaway. Even with the journey home, the food was hot. The food was plentiful and good quality.

We were staying in a cottage nearby and couldn’t be bothered to cook one evening and decided to try the Wayside Chinese takeaway. Another good decision as it was just as good as the one we use at home. Friendly counter staff reasonable prices and quick service. Its a pity its out side the village but at least its worth the treck.

Was staying at a local caravan site, came across Wayside and ordered chilli chips, vegetables in blackbean sauce, beef satay and egg fried rice. Had these items from Chinese takeaways PLENTY of times, never ever have they tasted of pure sugar! It really was awful, we couldn't eat it. The chips barely had any soya sauce on and the egg fried rice is stodgy. The service was fine but food was truly awful, waste of money.

We had a nice takeaway, would have had more stars but not a lot for vegetarians. I would phone your order ahead as they seem to be really popular.

Called in at Wayside on the way home from Bideford to Bude. Had the set meal for two. Huge portions and cooked superbly, the spring rolls are incredible. Thank you Wayside we will be back.

As another reviewer also said the woman behind the front desk was extremely rude, terrible bad attitude from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Average food, everything seemed really salty.

staying at ivyleaf combe lodes review to follow and we were having our end of holiday chinese takeaway,could not decide where to go, chungs or wayside, chose wayside as the parking was easier, well are we glad we did, food was brilliant, piping hot and good size portions, pancake rolls were huge and filling.

Efficient and friendly staff. Food prepared in a timely manner, even Saturday at 20:30pm. Large portions & tasty food. Highly recommended.

We stayed at a nearby holiday let and as a final night treat we decided to get some food from Wayside Chinese. We rang in our order beforehand and requested the earliest pick-up possible which surprisingly was only 15 minutes later! Hands down one of the nicest Chinese takeaways we have ever tried. Fast service and fantastic value for money, wish we'd found this out before our last night on holiday!

Stayed in a nearby holiday park and have to say the Chinese was the highlight of the trip. Lovely food, made quick and really hot. I was only here for the weekend and ate the Chinese twice!

Food was delicious. Quite possibly one of the nicest chinese takeaways i have ever had. Fresh and full of flavour. Not only was the food good, the staff are fantastic. Very helpful and caring to me when i fell outside the shop cutting both my knees very badly. Cant thank them enough for that.

Having been here on several occasions I thought it would be nice let them know how impressed I am. They've got it right on all fronts. Clean and tidy, great customer service and excellent food. I enjoy the beef curry, tender beef and a nice flavour. Good quick turn around aswell.

It was a toss up really between this one and another local one and I think we went with this one because it was marginally closer.

We always find this Chinese very good and people come from Bude to get their meals. Probably best to order by phone as it saves waiting

Staying in holiday accommodation locally we decided to splash out with a takeaway on our last evening, so phoned up and the sizeable order was ready waiting for us 10 minutes later. Excellent quality - highly recommended.

Parece mejorar Wayside cada vez que visita. Hace años que evito que - ahora nuestras expectativas han aumentado considerablemente, y no se decepcionará. Es un buen sonido, para llevar fiable ahora.

Una deliciosa comida (para 2 personas) que tenía mucha variedad, buen gusto y estaba bien caliente.

Gran orden llamó por teléfono para 4 adultos y 3 niños y estaba lista para recoger en 10 minutos! Buena comida.

My local Chinese takeaway, use it fairly regularly and I'm never disappointed. The food is your usual takeaway fare, but the quality is good and the portions generous. Highly recommended and, no, I'm not on commission !!!

In the week we were in Bude we were so impressed with the food we went twice. The quality of food was excellent across the menu, we tried several chicken and beef dishes. Service was excellent and friendly and they waited til just before we collected the food to cook the noodles to ensure we got them as fresh as possible.

We regularly buy our Chinese from here, at least one a month and can honestly say we've never had anything to quibble over. Absolutely love the food, flavourful, Mourish and always greater by friendly staff. Great affordable food! Highly recommended

Awful and rude. They made a mistake with our order. Ordered beef curry, gave us chicken curry and missed off 2 of the main dishes, even though we paid for them. Phoned them and they asked us to come and collect the missing dishes and correct beef curry. When we got there the male chef came out and asked if we had bought the beef curry back. I said no, as we had literally jumped back in the car to get the rest of the order. So he refused to do the beef curry. No apologies given for the wrong order or us having to drive a fair way to go back and get it. Very disappointing!

Popped in to order for 11 hungry people. Friendly service and the food was ready in 20 minutes which we thought was brilliant as there were lots of people ordering and collecting.Food was great and enjoyed by all.

My regular Chinese takeaway - good range of the usual dishes, well prepared, inexpensive, rapid service. Menu includes all the normal takeaway faves. Very tasty: never been disappointed.Plenty of parking as it's on the edge of a small industrial estate.Service is normally super-rapid BUT it can get busy during the holiday season, especially Friday evening when people have just arrived at holiday cottages (so best to call through an order in advance at those times).

There's not much to say - decent menu (would like some tofu/bean curd though!) - friendly and quick service and very tasty food.

I would like to score this as 'good' rather than average but don't have that option. It has new owners and the food is much better quality - so we are happy to go there now!

Have lunch here whilst driving through Dartmoor on our way to North Devon. Lovely food, and reasonably priced. Kids loved there meals, will definitely be paying another visit when in the area

Enjoyed the food the first time so we came back for a second time and the food was just as good again.
