Met up with friends for drinks, food and a catch up Disappointed that The only non alcoholic drinks were 2 beers or a lager.. no cider option or anything else. No one wants to sit with cans of irn bru all day. We ordered food, brought to the table by a lovely waitress who was very pleasant and polite. Good view of the rugby! Tad chilly downstairs will bring my big jacket next time.

Very cool pub that’s a bit like a labyrinth. There are various different bars dotted around across multiple floors. It’s actually quite difficult not to get lost ha. Never had to wait too long for a drink at the bar. Also had the fry up which was tasty, albeit at £15 a little on the expensive side. Would visit again.

The place is truly wonderful, one of a kind, you get lost going to the bathroom especially after a couple of beers. More beautiful to visit than the rest, because the food is good, but nothing special. In hindsight, I would say that if you have little time to visit Glasgow you can have a quick beer here, but I would have avoided having dinner there.

Had a wonderful dinner and pint at Waxy O’Connor’s. When my mother and I were looking for something local to eat, the head chef Steestl kindly made us a wonderful Scottish dish that consisted of mashed potatoes, haggis, and mushrooms in a lovely sauce. This was honestly one of the best meals I have had and was a great introduction to Scotland. Steestl was very kind and so were the rest of the staff. Come here for the live music and a great bite to eat!

Met a friend at 4pm. Pub was cold. First staff member I encountered said "This bar's closed!". I asked if I could be directed to an open bar and he obliged. Second staff member tried to remove my half-full bottle of beer from the table as he passed. When I intervened to say I was still drinking it, he said " I thought it was empty" and walked away. No "sorry", no apology. Pub has nice decor but staff seem rude and entitled and treat customers with disdain. I suspect it is an unpleasant place to work (poor management?) hence low morale of staff. Other, friendlier pubs are available.

Having spent a great night previously in here, we returned tonight after having dinner. The surly, bearded doorman at the back door, refused entry to my friend as he had shorts on. My friend made a passing remark about how he had been in there the night before in full Frankenfurter regalia, including a basque and suspenders with no problem. As he was staying in the adjoining hotel, he said he would go change. The doorman said he would be refused entry because of his threatening, passive aggressiveness. There were another 5 of us who witnessed everything and there was nothing threatening nor passive aggressive. I tried to speak to the doorman who ignored me and continually tapped away on his phone. I asked him to explain what was going on. He ignored me again, and I had to repeat my question. He continued to stare at his phone and mumbled something about my friend's attitude. I have never experienced such an ignorant, rude doorman as he. The fact he didn't even have the courtesy to look up at me when I tried to talk to him and was more interested in his phone gives an incredibly bad impression. My friend and I had also been in there a few hours before this happened and he was wearing the same clothes he was then refused entry with! All in all, it was embarrassing and uncalled for and put a dampener on a great day. None of us will be back.

As the title suggests, the pubs decor is absolutely beautiful. My friend showed me this venue, and it blew my mind. I've walked past it so many times in my life, and I would never have imagined it was so huge. So many floors and the venues are so well designed. It feels like you're in a lord of the rings pub. It surprises me that there are so many comments about bad service. The staff I interacted with had all been really nice and attentive. I spoke with one of them just to say how stunning the bar is and she was more than happy to chat with me and wasn't dismissive at all, even though I was ranting away by how stunned I was haha. Me and my husband had dinner here last night. This was the worst dinner I have ever had. We both had starters and mains, which was all served at once? which is a first for us. My 'chowder' starter was just runny and not that warm....but the steak pie?....this was just 🤮 It must have been in a microwave for ages as it was hard as a brick and the 'steak' was like charcoal. I am retching just thinking about it. 🤮We should have complained last night, on hindsight that was our mistake, we just didn't want to make a fuss, that's not how we are. But because I was so ill overnight and unless it was a banana I ate at lunch time yesterday (I very much doubt this) the food in W O'C was the culprit and feel I had to let them know in case anyone else was sick. I spoke to the manager earlier because I had been so ill, who said he would let the kitchen know. But just in case the message doesn't get passed on, avoid the food here folks.Venue and drinks ( a beer & a glass of wine) were fine.

We popped in for a quick bite to eat as we had a train to catch. I ordered the chowder & my husband ordered the smoked salmon pate. Both arrived and I have to say for what we paid £9 & £8 the portions could've been bigger. The food was nice but it didn't help that the sliced cobb we both got with our food was stale and cold and the butter was brick hard so unable to spread and enjoy it. Food is advertised as small plates but in reality is just a starter but a smaller portion and a bigger price.

This venue was our 3rd scheduled stop on the Glasgow Subcrawl and one we were looking forward too thanks to previous visits by some of our tour party. We turned up early Saturday afternoon on the 7th of September. A couple of our party had entered ahead of us. As the rest of us approached we were immediately quizzed by the door staff. Not the warm Irish welcome that we expected! “Have you a function room booking?” was our “welcome” to the venue. Now the Glasgow Subcrawl is favoured by groups/hen parties/stag parties/staff parties/birthday celebrations and the likes. Ours was a simple 24th birthday celebration/get together and included a responsible group of young men who have remained close friends from the start of school (or earlier) through their football team and beyond school. A sign of their maturity was to extend their invitations to their fathers (all late 40s+). 5 fathers were free to join in a weekend of valuable father and son time! Back to the answer to the door staff question, unfortunately, we did not have function room booking and were told that “I can’t let you in.” We were left quite aghast and this was made worse when the first to arrive exited and said he didn’t understand, as the place was empty! Thankfully this was our only disappointment during the sub crawl, thank you to all the establishments that welcomed us with open arms, Inn Deep, Wintersgills, Times Square, The Laurieston, The Bellrock, Kensington, Brechins, Deoch an Dorus, The Lismore and Tennent’s. Waxy o’Connor’s could learn a lot from them.

They were also disgusted and went up the stairs to complain .the guy in the white shirt a member of staff looked embarrassed and even the other bouncer .I hope this is investigated as this bouncer is going to give your establishment a really bad name he has let down you and your other hard working staff for no reason other than being a juice head bully please don't take my word for it as most people try to back there staff but ask his colleagues they all sypathised with us as well as other patrons

How dare they tell punters they cant wear Celtic and other relevant football colours in here. It was hot and humid yesterday they charge nearly £7 for a pint . Their loss I only bought one pint because they said in effect you must behave as if you are living in a police state with next to no social freedoms . I can honestly not say the pour of the pint was anything special to enslave my mind to their dictatorial ways I went to other pubs that let me take my jacket off they made more money out of me as a result. This seems like a very cynical theme bar you see a lot of pubs like this the world over. Football colours have history and should be allowed to thrive as religious dress is without question . I would never care to return to this expensive pub as even the last time I went everything was really expensive , I'm sure the manager will moan when people stop paying £7 for a pint and to be treated like children in their own working class leisure time . Besides the staff were not friendly or jovial . I'm sure there will be some assertive and dictatorial reply as the capitalist one per centers want to have us believe we as consumers are there to serve them and not a part of a free market. This is the kind of country and nation that Starmer demands !! Plenty of pubs allow football colours and there is no major agro as a result . The pub trade is as much a hypocrite as the gambling industry.

Wouldn't recommend booking for a group as there's no guarantee everyone will make it past the bouncers. Was attending my brother's leaving do but was refused entry as "the bar was full". Fair enough, but a group of us (5) were going to a section of the bar that had been pre-booked for our attendance. I had hopped out to meet some family who had travelled through for the occasion at the train station only to not be allowed back in. Bouncers were absolute throbbers and struggled to grasp that we were part of a group that had an area reserved.
