Had my first kiss with my now husband in here, we usually pop back in when we are in Glasgow

IT HAS A NICE RELAXING ATMOSPHERE AND THE BAR STAFF ARE AWAYS FRIENDLY AND HRELPFUL

Was here for a surprise 60th birthday party for an old work friend. Great night, nice place and very friendly staff. Food was superb too.

Great pub in the middle of Glasgow. Here you can literally get lost, the pub extends over several nested levels with a few bars. Here you will find the right corner for everyone. Live music is often on offer. The selection of drinks is good. Full marks for the atmosphere.

Lovely old authentic pud, made to look like a cathedral inside.

It's a nice bar and the service staff are lovely, but the food was absolutely terrible. Very bland and tasted as if it was microwaved. I'm not sure whether they have changed hands in the kitchen since the last time we went.

We didn’t come to eat, just to get lost in an Escher landscape with a libation in hand! I highly recommend just to try and get a photo of all four or five or six levels of the place at once!

We were in Glasgow for a few days and this pub was a few steps away from our hotel. It is a great pub, quite big inside with a wide variety of drinks and beers on Draft. We also tried the chicken strips which were good! They have live music too in the evenings.

Very clean place with lovely ambience. However I had to meet a friend for lunch but most of the items on the menu weren't available. The staff were very pleasant and mad us feeling welcomed but we had to leave to go somewhere else for food.

We were sober and refused entry for no reason because of security on a power trip. Pub didn't look busy and missed out on our business. Went to their nearby competitors close by (Dows bar), who didn't have tossers as security. Recommend going there instead Won't bother trying here again

Not complaining about food or staff ..just the fact you are a cashless bar..absolutely disgusting and disgraceful..soon to be a cashless society and you guys playing along ..never shall I set foot in this place again Your a disgrace .

Best place in Glasgow to have a few beers with live music and big screens to watch any sport I'll be back with my girl!

Great live music on a Wednesday night, singer Janine Ferry was fantastic!

Was there for my sisters Hen do and we had a room to ourselves this meant all the party had a good chance to get to know one another and was private just for us as well. We had an amazing time and staff were great with us.

Cool pub!!! Everything is made of wood and you have a beer between branches!!! With stage at medium height (it has up to 4 heights). We ordered a pint and a half pint and paid £9.6.

Great venue for watching the rugby in glasgow. Good selection of drinks. Never ate but have heard the food is good and it did look appetising. Only criticism is there's not enough people on the bars and service can be slow. Bouncers are also amongst the worst in Glasgow. Always seem to have a chip on their shoulder and try their hardest to be overly intimidating. It's not necessary.

You should better replace the staff (at least at our bar). We have never experienced such unfriendly and bored behavior anywhere else. Unfortunately the music didn't start until an hour later than advertised, which isn't great. Otherwise this is one of the nicest pubs.

Waxy O’Connor’s never disappoints! So many cool cubby holes, like you’ve walked into a fairytale. I had black pudding scotch egg, and it was delicious! Plus live music seven days a week, what more could you want?

Booked the Mcturks bar for a private family event from 7pm till Midnight which was going well with a fantastic bar man provided by the establishment until a power hungry(to be polite) supervisor deemed our guests to have had enough drink (I can assure you no one was falling off seats unlike others outwith the party)and refused service, this and us having to police our own area by constantly removing members of the public has left us feeling the need to warn others of suffering the same. We paid a lot of money for the venue but due to one management member “Cam” lovely guy(not) I can say thank you for almost ruining what was an amazing night to wish my Son farewell.

Place with great atmosphere and very central.

Great pub, I felt like I was living my wizarding dream as I guzzled a pint under the whomping willow. I restrained myself from swinging on the branches like curious george though. I thoroughly enjoyed doing a wee wizz in the buckets up stairs but felt too shy to open my stink portal. Overall gr8 experience

TRULY AMAZING! My favourite go to spot for a cheeky pint. The staff are fantastic and very attentive! If you go give the Machine Gun Lager a try I highly recommend. The place has a magical vibe and live music every night that transports you back home to Ireland (I’m not Irish but if I was it would do that). The adventure on the way to the toilets is life changing, you’ll make friends for life on that journey through the mythical maze that is Waxy O’Connors☘️ 6 bars 3 floors 2 entrances 1 amazing night out! Slàinte!🇮🇪

Had a bit of time before the train and glad we chose this place! The inside is like a giant treehouse, so many rooms and tables to sit by. There was live music and you could hear it all around the venue, enough volume to have a conversation. Great pints too! Picture a gnome’s pub and this place is it 😍

Food was average, but great pub for atmosphere. Came to watch the rugby, always a great pub for that.

Totalling unwelcoming. Maybe a group of six males, 40 plus, didn't fit their comfort criteria. We were denied entrance. Avoid at all times. Please.

Anti English? 6 middle aged blokes in Glasgow for the weekend away , we were refused entry at 7pm on a Friday night on the basis of being too drunk!! Absolute codswallop, we had only had had a couple of drinks and were not in any way being anti social/disruptive. They asked us where we had been prior and stated ‘Brew Dog’. Based on those 2 words they decided to bar us entry. Can only assume this was either because we were 6 middle aged blokes or we because we were English! We spent our money elsewhere - where they appreciated weekend tourists . never before have we been refused entry to a pub. not only has it put us off ever going to Waxys again, but it has also put us off coming to Glasgow again.

It’s a gorgeous place with a beautiful atmosphere and beautiful architecture with a witchy and old vibe absolutely would go back it’s lovey and relaxing and the music was amazing!!

Nice pub. Sorry didn't try the food after paying £7.50 for one pint of Guiness. Included a service charge and was for Glasgow overpriced. I went round the corner once my friends arrived to pay half! If I was in a night club or London I wouldn't mind but not at 5pm on a Tuesday evening

An intertwining cove of a pub. Lots of hidden areas and discrete booths. Close the the train station and the subway. Not the cheapest pub in glasgow

Didn't have much time to spend here but the pub looks fantastic and is very unique!

Automatic service change on pints should be optional. I understand times are tough and nice to get a tip but adding it directly feels unethical especially just for a pint order.

Shocking welcome. I arrived at the door with friends tonight, to be disgracefully refused to enter this bar , for no reason by the door men. The door men were very rude , plus could not give use a reason why we could not enter. We were all professional ppl and were totally disgusted. I felt disgusted at their attitude and I felt very let down by this bar I once loved. I will never take my love ones to this bar again. These guys are a disgrace to this once loved bar. Please waxy O’Conner you do better than this ?? Xx

Place is lovely, staff were friendly and served quickly. They had a 2 girl band on which were excellent. The only downside was when my husband almost had a headache when they charged him £7.18 for a pint 😂

Great pub with a lot of character but the food let it down a bit for me. We ordered the nachos for sharing and basically got a bowl of tortilla chips with lots of jalapenos. The service at the bar was good. Friendly and helpful staff.

Jumped in for a few beers with family , great service and the live music on stage was absolutely epic , enough to miss my train but on the next one . 10/10 , will be back 100%

Guinness is poured perfect and friendly atmosphere. Tend to visit every time I am in Glasgow.

Met up with friends for drinks, food and a catch up Disappointed that The only non alcoholic drinks were 2 beers or a lager.. no cider option or anything else. No one wants to sit with cans of irn bru all day. We ordered food, brought to the table by a lovely waitress who was very pleasant and polite. Good view of the rugby! Tad chilly downstairs will bring my big jacket next time.

Popped in for 2 coffees, paying for my 2 coffees at the bar i was not given a receipt, i had to ask for it, THEN I NOTICED WHY THEY DON'T OFFER A RECEIPT !. " SERVICE CHARGE ADDED TO THE BILL...BUT THEY ADDED IT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE... i was NOT asked if they could PUT A SERVICE CHARGE ON MY BILL.. i only noticed by accident, i mailed them about it,I was told that with the move to people paying with credit cards, that they added what they thought people would be happy to pay as a tip.. ( without the customers knowledge.) Talk about taking advantage of people!!!. So beware, and ask to see your bill, and don't let them dip your wallet sneakily!!!

Thought I would give Waxy O’Connors a try, atmosphere, decor where great, beer tasted metallic, ordered food, tried to order the chowder, didn’t have it. Had there fry up, sasusages dry, poached eggs weren’t properly done, bacon, black pudding and mushrooms were dry, bean’s where bland, and bread was supposed to have buttered wasn’t. After this I won’t probably eat or come back here again

Somehow had the feeling of a nice rural pub but in the city centre. There was no loud music so I could easily talk with my friend. Nice pint too.

Fantastic Irish Bars, the best one we have been to in Glasgow, food definitely 5*, very friendly staff. Only negative point I have was that the disabled lift was not working so we had to sit in the bar area which we didn't mind even though it was busy. There was no access to the disabled facilities either due to the lift being out of order. Will definitely visit again though.

Had a few beers going flat very very quickly, nothing wrong with the taps or the barrel. After speaking to the barman, he stated they had the wrong pint glasses. Disappointed but it wouldn't put me off going back, I'll just have a spirit instead.

Nice busy pub in city centre, great staff and atmosphere.

The place is truly wonderful, one of a kind, you get lost going to the bathroom especially after a couple of beers. More beautiful to visit than the rest, because the food is good, but nothing special. In hindsight, I would say that if you have little time to visit Glasgow you can have a quick beer here, but I would have avoided having dinner there.

I booked an area for my leaving night - itbwas so easy to do and didn't Cost a fortune upfront which I appreciated. We had a great night and stayed until closing - the staff were friendly and some of us ordered food which was delicious. Would book again for a similar night out :)

Booked a table for drinks and snacks on one of the busiest weekends before Christmas. Booking was arranged via email and communication with staff was great. The place was very busy but no issues with our table - ready for us and we had a great time. Atmosphere was really good. We will be back 🥃

Very cool pub that’s a bit like a labyrinth. There are various different bars dotted around across multiple floors. It’s actually quite difficult not to get lost ha. Never had to wait too long for a drink at the bar. Also had the fry up which was tasty, albeit at £15 a little on the expensive side. Would visit again.

Had a wonderful dinner and pint at Waxy O’Connor’s. When my mother and I were looking for something local to eat, the head chef Steestl kindly made us a wonderful Scottish dish that consisted of mashed potatoes, haggis, and mushrooms in a lovely sauce. This was honestly one of the best meals I have had and was a great introduction to Scotland. Steestl was very kind and so were the rest of the staff. Come here for the live music and a great bite to eat!

Overpriced, but cosyish labyrinth of a place

Doesn't take cash. No hot refreshments, and the staff weren't aware of gluten-free products or ingredients.

Fantastic New Years Eve Night, tickets for the night were expensive considering it was just for entry at £27.95.

Had an amazing Hogmanay here, stayed all night with great atmosphere and bands playing

On my first visit to Glasgow, I stumbled upon Waxy O'Connor's. A nice and cosy bar with very friendly staff! There was a live band performing which gave a pleasant vibe to it. I am happy to recommend this place.

really let down by the way that the stewards approach and talk down to people. There is a way to talk to approach a situation, unfortunately we over heard one of the stewards talking to another party in a manner that was vile and disrespectful towards them.

I love Waxys but really miss the lovely Irish Stew. Please get it back! :)

Nice place, quick service on the whole especially as it was busy at times. Food very good quickly brought out and it was hot, not lukewarm or cold , this is how it should be so thanks to all the team. My only slight moan, was the music at one point just after 17.00 pm went up loud ! So you had to shout to be heard when talking. Not sure why as before 17.00 it was at the right level. Will be coming back so thanks to all for the good time

Arranged to meet friends in Waxys. I said hello to the doorman, and he asked what I had to drink already as he was considering not letting me in. I laughed and said I had just been to Brown's for dinner and meeting friends inside. He told me I wasn't going inside because I was English! 😂. I didn't bother pursuing and we had a great night in Kong. Our other friends also left Waxys and said they wouldn't be back either. 😂 **UPDATE** - Hi Michele I emailed you as requested Mon, 25 Nov at 06:47. Nice place. Had to queue for a while to get served. Ordered a spice bag sharer which was nice but expensive for £16.

Never had food stopped off for a drink although the place was extremely busy the wait time to be served at the bar was super quick which was very impressive great atmosphere and fast friendly service

A joy of a pub in Glasgow. Great atmosphere, live music 7 days a week, what more could you want. The innkeeper might have to put up signs, as many people can't find the exit on their first visit🤪

Bar service, young lady serving wed 27 Nov 6.40pm, absolutely terrible attitude. I waiting 10 mins for a drink whilst she served everyone before me. I said to her I had been waiting a while and she struggled her shoulders and said that the cue was at the other side of the bar. I asked her how was I to know that?, again, her response was dismissive with another shrug... We left tand didn't order, went to somewhere who had staff with manners.

Too much of an Irish pub chain feel about it. Guinness was just ok 6.5/10. Grub was nice. I'd a decent burger.

Pub on a few floors. A must visit for all Glasgow fans. Age difference is ignored here. We were there on Saturday and then there was live music. Near the main train station

Loved this bar, well worth a visit

Met a friend at 4pm. Pub was cold. First staff member I encountered said "This bar's closed!". I asked if I could be directed to an open bar and he obliged. Second staff member tried to remove my half-full bottle of beer from the table as he passed. When I intervened to say I was still drinking it, he said " I thought it was empty" and walked away. No "sorry", no apology. Pub has nice decor but staff seem rude and entitled and treat customers with disdain. I suspect it is an unpleasant place to work (poor management?) hence low morale of staff. Other, friendlier pubs are available.

This was my first visit. It was busy being a Friday afternoon but we found a table at the back. There's a nice atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly. I've given 4 stars for service as they don't accept cash. I will definitely be back
