Thanks so much for a brilliant night celebrating a big birthday. We booked a room for 40. The space was perfect along with excellent service, food & drink. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Waxy's is a fantastic space with good live music and it was buzzing all evening. Everyone had a great time and had only positive comments about the venue.

As the title suggests, the pubs decor is absolutely beautiful. My friend showed me this venue, and it blew my mind. I've walked past it so many times in my life, and I would never have imagined it was so huge. So many floors and the venues are so well designed. It feels like you're in a lord of the rings pub. It surprises me that there are so many comments about bad service. The staff I interacted with had all been really nice and attentive. I spoke with one of them just to say how stunning the bar is and she was more than happy to chat with me and wasn't dismissive at all, even though I was ranting away by how stunned I was haha. Couldn't comment on the food but was a top class place to drink.

Me and my husband had dinner here last night. This was the worst dinner I have ever had. We both had starters and mains, which was all served at once? which is a first for us. My 'chowder' starter was just runny and not that warm....but the steak pie?....this was just 🤮 It must have been in a microwave for ages as it was hard as a brick and the 'steak' was like charcoal. I am retching just thinking about it. 🤮We should have complained last night, on hindsight that was our mistake, we just didn't want to make a fuss, that's not how we are. But because I was so ill overnight and unless it was a banana I ate at lunch time yesterday (I very much doubt this) the food in W O'C was the culprit and feel I had to let them know in case anyone else was sick. I spoke to the manager earlier because I had been so ill, who said he would let the kitchen know. But just in case the message doesn't get passed on, avoid the food here folks.Venue and drinks ( a beer & a glass of wine) were fine.

Great pub with lots of character. Caught a band in the church bar on Saturday 28th Sept. What a cool band. The barmaid that mostly served us was lovely and very polite and chatty despite being very busy. Had planned on only having a couple before heafing home but stayed for a few more as the place was buzzing and band were great. Waxi's has been a favourite spot of mine for 20 years or so and I always try and pop in when in town.

We popped in for a quick bite to eat as we had a train to catch. I ordered the chowder & my husband ordered the smoked salmon pate. Both arrived and I have to say for what we paid £9 & £8 the portions could've been bigger. The food was nice but it didn't help that the sliced cobb we both got with our food was stale and cold and the butter was brick hard so unable to spread and enjoy it. Food is advertised as small plates but in reality is just a starter but a smaller portion and a bigger price.

Been travelling to glasgow to meet friends since 1999 on a regular basis from Liverpool. And always get them to take us to your establishment for drinks always been welcomed by staff and patrons alike as Glasgow people our the friendliest people in my book .but your bouncer refused one of our party re-entry into your pub after going out for a vape she was in no way drunk .this even agrieved people from the table next to us who we got chatting to during the evening who were from the Isle of Wight. They were also disgusted and went up the stairs to complain .the guy in the white shirt a member of staff looked embarrassed and even the other bouncer .I hope this is investigated as this bouncer is going to give your establishment a really bad name he has let down you and your other hard working staff for no reason other than being a juice head bully please don't take my word for it as most people try to back there staff but ask his colleagues they all sypathised with us as well as other patrons

This venue was our 3rd scheduled stop on the Glasgow Subcrawl and one we were looking forward too thanks to previous visits by some of our tour party. We turned up early Saturday afternoon on the 7th of September. A couple of our party had entered ahead of us. As the rest of us approached we were immediately quizzed by the door staff. Not the warm Irish welcome that we expected! “Have you a function room booking?” was our “welcome” to the venue. Now the Glasgow Subcrawl is favoured by groups/hen parties/stag parties/staff parties/birthday celebrations and the likes. Ours was a simple 24th birthday celebration/get together and included a responsible group of young men who have remained close friends from the start of school (or earlier) through their football team and beyond school. A sign of their maturity was to extend their invitations to their fathers (all late 40s+). 5 fathers were free to join in a weekend of valuable father and son time! Back to the answer to the door staff question, unfortunately, we did not have function room booking and were told that “I can’t let you in.” We were left quite aghast and this was made worse when the first to arrive exited and said he didn’t understand, as the place was empty! Thankfully this was our only disappointment during the sub crawl, thank you to all the establishments that welcomed us with open arms, Inn Deep, Wintersgills, Times Square, The Laurieston, The Bellrock, Kensington, Brechins, Deoch an Dorus, The Lismore and Tennent’s. Waxy o’Connor’s could learn a lot from them.

How dare they tell punters they cant wear Celtic and other relevant football colours in here. It was hot and humid yesterday they charge nearly £7 for a pint . Their loss I only bought one pint because they said in effect you must behave as if you are living in a police state with next to no social freedoms . I can honestly not say the pour of the pint was anything special to enslave my mind to their dictatorial ways I went to other pubs that let me take my jacket off they made more money out of me as a result. This seems like a very cynical theme bar you see a lot of pubs like this the world over. Football colours have history and should be allowed to thrive as religious dress is without question . I would never care to return to this expensive pub as even the last time I went everything was really expensive , I'm sure the manager will moan when people stop paying £7 for a pint and to be treated like children in their own working class leisure time . Besides the staff were not friendly or jovial . I'm sure there will be some assertive and dictatorial reply as the capitalist one per centers want to have us believe we as consumers are there to serve them and not a part of a free market. This is the kind of country and nation that Starmer demands !! Plenty of pubs allow football colours and there is no major agro as a result . The pub trade is as much a hypocrite as the gambling industry.

Wouldn't recommend booking for a group as there's no guarantee everyone will make it past the bouncers. Was attending my brother's leaving do but was refused entry as "the bar was full". Fair enough, but a group of us (5) were going to a section of the bar that had been pre-booked for our attendance. I had hopped out to meet some family who had travelled through for the occasion at the train station only to not be allowed back in. Bouncers were absolute throbbers and struggled to grasp that we were part of a group that had an area reserved.

My first time visiting this Irish bar in the centre of Glasgow. I was surprised it was my first time here but it won’t be my last, the interior is so interesting and authentic feeling. It has lots of different floors, with small intimate rooms and bars on each of them. They have live music every night of the week so I can imagine the atmosphere being even better on a busier night and at the weekend. Obviously for a pint of Guinness and couldn’t complain at it, poured to spec as you’d expect. Cracking head and taste. I had came here after lunch but the food menu looked good as well, not very extensive but what you’d expect from a pub, and decently priced. I’ll be back for sure.

I Paid for two meals with a friend on Thursday 15th August 2024. The meals came out and they were so under par it was disgraceful. My friend had the chicken burger which was no word of a lie, two chicken nugggets side by side in the most underwhelming bun. No salad or anything just a scoop of chips for £16.00. My friend asked for the manager and asked for a refund. Today is the 19th August and the money still hasn’t been refunded into my account! I ordered the steak & Guinness pie, pastry was overcooked, mash was cold and steak inside the pie was chewy/tuff not tender not good enough. Very disappointed in the food and the fact I still haven’t received my money back for the Burger. The venue is nice but the food menu and food is not at the required standard for the prices charged. Don’t eat here! With a very limited menu you would at least expect them to get the food right, I ordered the southern fried chicken burger which was £16! What I got was dreadful a few recooked fries and 2 chicken nuggets in a burger bun! Needless to say I sent it back and asked for a refund, it took the manager almost 15 minutes to come to see me as he was going round sweeping the floor, he agreed that what I was served was not good and then blamed the kitchen staff, my fellow diner also had a terrible meal (steak and Guinness pie) but was too hungry to complain but even then he left most of it saying it was terrible. I would never consider this place for food again, go elsewhere or be prepared to be underwhelmed, not even good enough for one star!

He was not too bad however they had him in a kind of glass box like a bird in a cage right about the stairs and everyone's head. That was certainly odd and it definitely affected his performance. Lively city centre pub, draped in Irish memorabilia, trinkets and GAA flags. Friendly staff and wide choice of beers, whiskies, other spirits and soft drinks. A decent pub kitchen gives wholesome filling food. I use this as home of Glasgow Spurs Supporters Club for televised matches.

Given a sub par pint just after the barrel was changed. When I complained I was met with the height of abuse from the manager

Was in on a Saturday night bought drinks then had a dance to live music… drinks thrown out by bar staff! Checked cctv and agreed they had disposed of our full drinks but apparently hadn’t let them know we were dancing?! So declined to replace them.. I’ve ran pubs myself and this seems like very poor customer service. Even the door man was embarrassed by their actions! Won’t be back … bad craic
