Kitty O'Shea's in Glasgow City

A regular haunt for when I visit Glasgow really friendly atmosphere with good music and good beer. Great for watching sports and you can book booths where you have your own TV screen as well. Live music and bar staff are great

The bar staff were lovely and the drinks were great, but there was a guy who touched me at the bar and made me super uncomfortable, but couldn’t report as there were no security around upstairs. I also had an issue with the attendant harassing me in the toilets, but when I made a complaint online, Kitty O’Shea’s handled it and spoke to the external company.

I attended a show on Saturday night with friends and after the show we decided to go to kittys for a couple of drinks but when we got there a bouncer told us that we were not allowed to enter because two of us in his words were “far too drunk”. We went for dinner and had a glass of wine each before the show. We tried to explain this to the bouncer but he would not listen and became verbally aggressive and disrespectful towards us. We were very disappointed as we heard it was a good bar. It’s a pity one ignorant bouncers opinion and attitude can ruin a good night out.

Paid £160 for a table of four for Hogmanay and turned away at the door for ‘being too drunk” when none of us were!! Bouncers really verbally aggressive with one of our male friends and verbally abusive and rude to the girls as well. Would not reccomend here at all!! Shocking experience which we had paid and planned for the bells!!!!

Bouncers are a disgrace. Witnessed an assault on premises last night by door staff. Violent and overly aggressive with what looked like well over a dozen punches thrown on one male. With another pushed to floor aggressively and then held back. There was no discussion prior to this between the parties with the bouncer seemingly erupting. Our group of 8 were absolutely shook by the incident and raised it with staff who brushed it aside at the time. We all left shortly after as we were concerned for our safety. This is not the fault of all the door staff but one dangerous individual bouncer. Other bouncers had to then act on their colleagues crazy decision. If there was an issue to be dealt with, which didn’t seem to be the case and blown out of proportion massively, there is certainly better ways to deal with the situation as door staff. Hope this gets looked in to, as further down the line I worry this individual causes serious harm to someone. As regular customers we would now think twice about returning if we noticed he was on shift.

Absolutely appalling service from two girls behind the bar. So rude, you’d think they weren’t paid to work here. Took our drinks order with a sour face, placed the card machine down (not facing me - didn’t even say how much) and stared at me and said “you need to pay me”. The manager then followed up asking “what’s the problem”. Your staff are the problem that’s what. Rude young girls

We arrived at opening time (around 3pm) so it was basically empty when we were there initially. Service was good to begin with but struggled a little when it began to get busy later on during our visit. I believe it's open till 3am and there is live music, however there was no live music obviously due to our early visit. Overall it was ok and worth checking out if you're nearby.

Fantastic little bar with live entertainment it's been one of the few bars we have gone back to each time we are up there. Lovely friendly staff and they do table service. Great gem of a find

Guinness very nice although, id prefer the website price at £5 instead of bar price £5.50, are the bar staff on the take?

During a short stay in Glasgow with a friend, we decided to visit Kitty O’Shea’s for a drink around 22.30 The place had a fantastic vibe with great live music and an inviting atmosphere. We had a wonderful time, but by 00.15 AM, we decided to call it a night. We had left our jackets draped over a chair, but to our shock, my friend’s jacket was missing when we went to retrieve them. We immediately approached the security team to report the issue. To our relief, every single security staff member was extremely understanding, empathetic, and genuinely helpful. They brainstormed solutions with us and went out of their way to assist. At one point, someone who appeared to be the manager or head of security even walked my friend to review the CCTV footage. Thanks to their efforts, they managed to locate and return the missing jacket. We were deeply impressed by the dedication and professionalism of both the security team and the bar staff. The level of effort and care they showed was truly exceptional and far beyond what we would have expected. To put it simply: in the Netherlands, we doubt this kind of attention and effort would ever have been given to such a situation. Massive respect and compliments to the team at Kitty O’Shea’s!

one male had approached me and after i rejected him he became aggressive, i had then informed both of the bouncers on the door of the situation and took them inside and showed them exactly who the men were, the bouncers then took them outside spoke to them and let them back in, I then re approached the bouncers to ask why they had been let back in and my friend who had been standing next to the door since i left had heard the bouncers say that they had been let back in as “they come in all the time”. which i thought was ridiculous as i had brought up the situation in the first place and it was deemed as “okay behaviour” which is nothing short of appalling. Would not recommend as the pub as a whole have no interest in protecting women.

kitty o'shea's have made me feel disrespected like never before. The bouncers were the key reason for this, as they made me feel inhumane, indecent and negligible. I understand the bouncers'' duty to keep a location decent, but their attitude was nothing more than disgraceful. I will NEVER return to this horrid location, I hope rats tale over your venue.

Been a few times before. Tried to go tonight after a work event with a group of 4, all had a couple of drinks but no one drunk or disorderly, met with 2x rude and arrogant door staff, the first one who met us was bald, he originally said we were too drunk and that we wouldn’t be let in tonight, I then replied to him that we had a couple drinks for a works night and no one was too drunk to be let in. He replied that we were too drunk and won’t be let in to which I said I bet there’s a lot more people inside that are more drunk than us…. Then the rude, young amateur bouncer piped up that we were too drunk and that we won’t be allowed in. He then called one of the party “fat” when he is a bit on the chunky side himself, he then told the same member of the party to “f*ck off” and that he was a “b*tch.” Before going behind the numerous other door staff there. I believe the majorly unprofessional door staff worker was called “Scott” - he had a wing tattoo behind an ear and a bit of a bowl cut haircut. Never seen more unprofessional door staff, especially being a returning customer before and never had any issues. Overall, this has put me off returning and think kitty osheas should be re-evaluating their door staff policy, especially with the amount of new negative reviews regarding these. Absolute shambles, if I could review a 0* star I would.

Headed here after a work event for a few drinks before the train. Was knocked back as one of our group was deemed “too drunk” - he’d only had 2 or 3 drinks, bear in mind that this was a work event! A knock back is one thing, but this bouncer proceeded to call our friend a “b*tch”, swore at us, called our friend fat and told him to “f*ck off” … ruined a good night and ruined a good pub! Absolutely shocking. Told us his name was Scott but not sure if this is true or not … wouldn’t tell us his surname. Extremely unprofessional, rude, nasty and aggressive ..

Turned up soba with my 3 English friends on a Friday nite, small man on the door says, sorry not tnite. 2 men 2 women. Don't expect much.

Approached the door staff to enter the bar on a Saturday night around 10pm, we were 2 couples in our 40’s. We’d had approximately 2 drinks each before arriving, nobody was drunk or disrespectful, just 2 couples on a night out. Unbelievably rude and unpleasant doorman informed us that we couldn’t enter because one of our group was too drunk!! Absolute joke. A bad advert for Glasgow which is normally a friendly and fun city. Would not return or recommend.

Had another great night in Kittys Sat 27/9/24, great atmosphere thanks to Papa Shandy and the drams band, really fantastic, great singer and the violin and banjo players played the hearts out too, they were fantastic. Another band on after them too not sure if the name, they were also brilliant, the Guiness in here is perfectly poured too, will def be returning

Dreadful bouncers, aggressive and argumentative FAKE IRISH BAR! Avoid at all costs......the Louden Tavern is more Irish than this waste of time & space.

Drove up from chesterfield on a business trip today, 1st visit to Glasgow an on a positive vibe it was amazing.. Food was really good at the Italian barloros, bars were more than welcoming... Went back to the hotel bcos my friend has a medical issue so me and my friend wanted a couple more beers. Walked to this so called Irish bar and could tell straight away we were not locals!!! Wasn't invited in and the bouncers reason is bcos we were to drunk!!!! I'm writing this 10 mins from leaving there so if you struggle reading this then I must b toooooo drunk!!!! Absolute joke!!! Nothing wrong with me and my friend,,,, brought here on a recommendation of a millionaire that is from Glasgow and invited us up.... Definitely will not recommend this as a place to go as Ur face needs to fit,, not Ur wallet which ours could hav quite easily benefited this place... Big negative review from me on this so called Irish bar...

Great live music and friendly staff. Good variety for drinks and it has a nice layout.

I drank a Guinness and the two types of cider there. The beer is relatively tolerable (I'm not a beer fan). The ciders available are very good. Not too tart, but relatively sweet. The strawberry cider, shown in the picture, is the sweeter of the two. There is a pleasant atmosphere. There is usually live music in the evenings.

Lovely bar with good entertainment and reasonably priced pints,though you would need to look at some of the door staff you're employing. Rude and aggressive!!

Visited this venue at weekend. Live music was outstanding. Lots of people enjoying themselves and dancing. Nicola in security was great at handling the crowds so nice to see security staff being able to handle a crowd and still have a laugh with the customers which is rare these days. The customers interacted with her and gave her respect due but only because she handled things so well. Would definitely return.

Clearly, looking at previous reviews, this place has a recurring issue with the bouncers. Our experience was much the same as many others. Disgusting behaviour from the door staff. We will not be back and will not be recommending to our friends and family. If you are looking for live music I would go to the many other fantastic bars in Glasgow who have live music.

This place feels very similar to Way OConnors with lots of nooks and hidey holes. Unfortunately the corner we chose to sit smelt badly of sewerage but was good to have a private little den. Service was fast enough but some staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. Toilets were good.

Awesome evening in here on a Saturday night. Really busy, a great atmosphere, and good music.

A bar in Glasgow, and in general in Scotland, where there is atmosphere and obviously it is an Irish pub! Live music continues all evening until closing, we feel good there and Guinness for £5! Wow! You can mingle with the crowd as much as you can stand in a corner, it's very good.

Great atmosphere but the star of the show is NICHOLA who works in security. She is an absolute gem who looked after us and took our group under her wing. Nichola made us feel so safe and welcomed we wouldn’t have had the great night we had without her. SHE DESERVES A BONUS!!!

Thursday night live music with good beer. First time in the upstairs area.. Last time I was in it was still a basement bar but has expanded and is much bigger and better.

Was here on a Sunday afternoon. Was very good. Went to the football, came back and was rejected for wearing the same thing I had on earlier. Apparently the rules from the idiot bouncer. This was a Sunday night btw. Unreal. Won’t be back

Booked a table online for Saturday night at 8.30pm arrived on time and the usual with the stewards we are full up told them I’ve got a table booked they went to check and to no one’s surprise they said they had no booking under my name even though I had an e mail stating enjoy your evening and my name Manageress arrives and tries to make out I must have booked the wrong venue which I didn’t really pathetic organisation all told.

Door man wouldn't let us in because my friend didn't understand him. Explained we were from liverpool and he wasn't bothered.

Floor manager was extremely rude for no reason

Decided to go here with my boyfriend and sister as it was recommended by friends and seen it was advertising an after party for trnsmt festival. As we were walking up the bouncer was already looking at us up and down, when we arrived at the door he asked where we had been and we said the festival and he laughed and got his face quite close to my boyfriends face and would not let us in. Absolutely no reason for bouncers to be so rude.

Love the new look Kitty's, extra space is amazing. Staff were absolutely lovely and so friendly.

Main manager was clearly on substances. Other staff were sound enough. Clearly not owned by real Irish people none of the spirit or charm. The fruit in our drinks was obviously out of date and stinkin. Souless establishment. Singers nice tho.

I’ve been coming here for several years, always had a pleasant night. Near the end of the night, a female became rather rude and started causing a scene. My brother and I were then manhandled out the premises by the security team. This was completely unprovoked. An absolute disgrace. Unfortunately the bar has went to the dogs since the upper level was opened. The footage will no doubt be on cctv. Absolutely pathetic. Glasgow city centre is a joke of a place these days.

I have been to Kitty O’Sheas west end a few times now with friends and family - only got good things to say! Never had an issue with bouncers/bar staff always relaxed and welcoming. Live music is always excellent and place has a great atmosphere on a Friday/Saturday night. Pub also plays live football. Would recommend for a fun filled night as opens late too 👌🏼

As per previous reviews, the bouncers are the worst in the city. In the space of a few minutes saw a guy not let in, even though he had a booking! They were rude and threatening to everyone, some poor guy get rejected for wearing rugby kit! Even though the six nations was in their bar showing Scotland! They said it was full but then let in a group of girls who had no booking and had not gone out for a smoke etc. They said it was too full and tried to organise a queue but made a complete arse of it. After a few mins, took our business elsewhere and had a good afternoon in a few of the other pubs in the city. These guys are clueless and need to sort out their bouncers.

Guys at the front door were good. Let me and my friends in. One of my friends got too drunk and fell asleep. The staff were good at escorting us out in a polite and respectful manner.

Popped in on Sunday afternoon. Great live music and TVs turned up loud in the interval so we could follow the Celtic / Livingston Scottish Cup game 👍 Friendly staff, loads of comfy seating and excellent choice of drinks. Very it's rockin' at night so we'll definitely be back!

Racist bouncers who don't let you in incase you have had one bad lightyears ago. Do NOT recommend

Awful place! 4 of us (2 couples) tried to enter the bar last night after having 2 glasses of wine each elsewhere. The rude bouncers refused us and said we were too drunk. We were not even tipsy, never mind drunk. They then lied and said they had seen us swaying walking down the road with was completely untrue. Afterwards, we stood further down the street watching others try to enter who were told the same thing as us. If the bar is full then just tell people it’s full rather than lying to people saying they’re too drunk. The bouncers are on a complete power trip and need sacked

Wouldn’t bother my hole. A disgrace of an Irish bar. We had 2 pints in the pub before and 3 of the 7 of us were ‘too drunk’. Shocking experience, ignorance and power tripping by the bouncers. Avoid at all cost and head to Molly Malomes. At least you’ll be served a pint or even get in.

Good live music gives a great atmosphere.

Original Kittys was my favourite place to go for a Guinness that was nearly as good as the homeland, but since the revamp, the quality of the Guinness has gone massively downhill. The pour was very poor and was so disappointed. Apart from that, it's a nice enough venue.

Seen this place on a Guinness page. Missed the one in Edinburgh. It looks like its just had a refurbishment. Slow service and it wasn't busy, Guinness was rotten had to leave it. Guys trying to drop things in girls tops from the mezzanine. It was like being run by teens for their friends. And leaving cant say the door staff is helping

The restaurant was a quaint, dark little room. There was live music and there were TVs in every corner where you could watch various competitions (the day I was there it was darts). You could have a relaxed conversation with your people. I can't rate the food because I didn't eat anything, if there was any at all. The drinks were good. Since I can't drink alcohol, I had to resort to non-alcoholic alternatives, which luckily were well represented. The service at the counter (by the way, you have to order and pick up from the counter, no service at the table, but everything was great :) ) was also quite good to look at, so there was something for the eye too. There are also security guards, so if someone looks too deeply into the glass, there will be no trouble or it will end quickly :) . The prices were also completely reasonable.

In Glasgow on business with some associates. We had a great meal elsewhere and decided to enjoy a pint of Guinness with some live music while waiting for a taxi back to our hotel. This was mid-week, early evening, we had done the same the previous evening with no issues. The small group were professional mid-40s with an early start the next morning, consuming excessively was most definitely not on our agenda. Upon arriving at the venue on this evening, doormen stood in our way, without having even communicated with us, he singled out accused a colleague of being drunk! None of our group were remotely drunk. We were turned away, and decided to enjoy a pint of Guinness at Malones Irish Bar instead, which was far more welcoming, and had great live music on. Looking at the reviews on this site, it seems common practice here - I'll never return. I wonder if management either know about, or care about this behaviour on their front door.

No warm welcome here. Turned away at the door by a bouncer on a power trip for no reason whatsoever. Couldn’t see an SIA licence on display. We headed over to Malones Irish Bar instead, and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Malones, with live music and food. Give Kitty’s a miss, it must be a hell hole if they feel the need for bouncers mid week.

Absolutely awful attitude from the door staff, would absolutely avoid this venue in future. Real shame as our group went the evening before without any issues.
