Connolly's Irish Bar in Glasgow City

Popped in during a quiet spell, staff were fantastic and engaging. Asked about my trip and gave suggestions for a good pre gig feed. Will be back for the football before I review the atmosphere.

Invited to a dozen strong gathering to indulge ourselves in "The Banter" followed by a curry we were instructed to meet at 3pm by our organiser at Connolly's bar, bell st. I arrived at 3.10pm in really freezing weather to find.... all the doors were closed and shuttered, all the windows dark and bare. In this town no Connolly's open. I was left just standing there 😱 I would like to know why . Googling the pub it stated OPEN.🥺 Phones started ringing and the group hastily reconvened at nearby O'Neill's who were very happy to see us with our 4x12 drinks rounds. Ching Ching😊 perhaps our organiser just got it wrong ,though he protested to the contrary. Answers on a postcard would be welcome thanks.🤔

Nuestra primera visita y nos encantó. Buena bienvenida del personal de la puerta, útil para nuestro huésped en silla de ruedas. ¡La música en vivo fue brillante! Buenas bebidas, buen ambiente y conocimos a algunas personas encantadoras también.

Was in on a Saturday night bought drinks then had a dance to live music… drinks thrown out by bar staff! Checked cctv and agreed they had disposed of our full drinks but apparently hadn’t let them know we were dancing?! So declined to replace them.. I’ve ran pubs myself and this seems like very poor customer service. Even the door man was embarrassed by their actions! Won’t be back … bad craic

He estado aquí muchos siempre lo disfrutan, pero el sábado por la noche el personal del bar decidió servir nuestras bebidas completas mientras bailábamos una canción favorita. He dirigido pubs y sé que pueden ocurrir errores, pero es bueno el servicio al cliente para rectificarlos! Aparentemente revisaron la televisión y acordaron que se deshacían de nuestras bebidas completas pero no las reemplazarían ya que no les habíamos dicho que íbamos a ir a bailar. Una chica detrás de la barra y el portero parecían avergonzados... ¡no volverán!

Brilliant atmosphere!! Love it when there is live music. Staff are spot on too. Down to the wee dude in the toilet, he’s brand new as well. Never had problem. Always enjoyed myself 💚🍀🇮🇪

Lots of TVs for watching matches.

Nice relaxed, casual atmosphere. My husband says they serve a good pint of Guinness

A nice pub to grab a drink, they have a few beers on tap including a few brewed in the UK. You can also get a half pint which we like since we are not big beer drinkers. They also encourage the use of cash, so I was able to use the pounds I had purchased for this trip, since so many places seem to be cashless in the UK now, while also saving them some fees in the process. We enjoyed drinking outside until someone started to smoke, it's unfortunate that you can still smoke in the patio areas in the UK so we often have to stay inside or just skip that mid afternoon drink, but only once in our 3 visits here was someone smoking. All the bartenders we met were also very friendly.

0 ESTRELLA: dijo que es dog friendly cuando claramente no lo es. El tipo “Tam” que hace el examen parece charlar con la mujer que reconoce la mayor parte de la noche. Mi perro había estado en desde las 7. 40 pm toda la noche y a las 10 pm le dijo “Tam” el presentador del concurso que ha estado charlando con toda la mujer toda la noche y la gente fumando vapeadores dentro del pub nuestro perro debe ser movido de la entrada. Incluso que estuvo sentado toda la noche con nosotros con acceso para sillas de ruedas desde las 8 pm. Un hombre que lo alimentaba desde las 8 pm. Conociéndolo antes en el pub. Tam claramente no estaba recibiendo suficiente atención de las damas debido a nuestro perro, lo que lo molestó, decidió ser agresivo con mi madre. Está claro que no es un pub que admita perros con Tam: nuestro perro tiene 12 años y es tan plácido y amable.

Just a great place and a great Guinness. Spend cash if you can as it gives you 10% off

Love connellys but sometimes it too busy so takes a while to be served but means it’s a good bar! Be back soon for caffertys!!

Was okay not great. Lacked atmosphere. Guinness was poor. Service slow. Door staff rude. I wouldn’t be rushing back in a hurry

Not a great sign when an Irish pub doesn’t serve a half decent pint of Guinness. The bouncers are also happy to let beggars in to bother customers trying to sell them cheap flowers. Wouldn’t return

What a great night we had on St Patrick's day. We had to wait in a queue to get in . The bouncer was friendly I think his name was Joe. The singers were brilliant. One of the best pubs of the day and we were in a few 🍻😊. Everyone was friendly will definitely be back.

Popped in for one after Home and it’s seems a decent enough bar. Just too crowded and squashed together for our liking. Would like to revisit when Celtic are playing.

Popped in for a drink after shopping and it was nice, a little quiet but good atmosphere! The weekday prices mean a revisit is in order!

It’s a decent night out and we normally come in before we go to football. Always great singers on. Sometimes the young team are a bit much.

Popped in after a magic Mike tribute in arta as they had live music on this guy gets the one star but OMG do not order a drink near closing time the staff will LITERALLY RIP IT RIGHT OUT OF YOUR HAND no exaggeration he actually grabbed it no apology like any other bar sorry we are closing drink up please the Irish guy just grabbed it I get staff want to go home and had he said sorry u need to drink up like all bars do then fair enough but we had just bought the drink they shouldn’t serve anyone if they don’t have time to finish it and certainly shouldn’t grab a drink out your hand I would never go in this bar again this was one member of staff who is in the wrong job

Went in for a few drinks after magic Mike tribute in arta next door as I love live music the 2 stars are for the singer who was fab the bar itself is a bit small looks bigger from outside but that’s not the worst thing about this bar they will call last orders literally 5 minutes after you buy a drink then rip it right out of your hand I tried being friendly saying ok no problem just give me 1 minute and we will leave (the bar was still full ) only to be told no we will lose our license and grabbed the full drink out of my hand never ever had anyone do that in any bar in my life ( he was Irish ) don’t know his name but needs sacked for his arrogance) I wouldn’t return a bit of courtesy goes a long way I understand pubs close and staff need to go home bit no one should grab your drink from you in any bar guy was on a power trip

Best pub in merchant City by far staff very friendly and helpful 👌 music 🎶 👌👍drinks are reasonable as well I enjoy a few beers in there regularly 😀

Recommended to visit and it was very good. A little chaotic but good fun. Would recommend a quick visit.

When did yo go? Every weekend of my life since Lockdown!! Great bar and staff and constant banter. Other bars can not match the atmosphere and patter in here. Pints of Menabrea are nothing short of tremendous every time.

I love this gaff. Good people, amazing live music.. and they sell Shankeys Whip!! Try a glass or two of Shankeys,, you'll never look back

Ordered 2 G&Ts a rum and a jack daniels. They were all watered down and we left them on the bar. It was my first time in here and it was such a dissapointment!

Great pub with live music on a Sunday night by Liam McGrandle ! The staff are friendly especially Gary the doorman who goes the extra mile to make you feel very welcome! Also, the atmosphere is great with everyone singing along with Liam. I’ve never tried the food but it’s on my list 😊

Possibly the worst bar I’ve ever been in. The layout is terrible, feels like you’re in a corridor such that when it’s busy everyone is in everyone’s way. Some of the clientele are pretty distasteful. And as for the song choice, oh my days. I’ll never return.

Proud Irish bar with loads of sports screens, live music and great beer. It’s large but does get really busy when the football is on. One of the best Irish bars in the city

My husband and I popped into this bar after we had been out shopping. It was very quiet but we weren't intending to stay long. 4 stars is for the 2 girls on the bar who were so delightful and kept the atmosphere going for the small number who were in the pub. They were a joy, so big thanks to Kia and Kira who were fab.

The best place to enjoy your day expecially weekends. There is always live band to give you the best songs you can ever get. Big screens to watch all types of sport and great events. A great place to meet great staff, spend your great time and meet great and nice people. Love this place.
