This morning I decided to try the coffee shop at the top of Waterstones. I approached the service counter in an attempt to purchase coffee and food. Two the two employees were working and talking about there social life. I stood there awkwardly for almost half a minute. They made no attempt to communicate or make eye contact. This is incredibly rude behaviour and unprofessional. I do not suffer this kind of unprofessional behaviour from my employees, and decided to not suffer it from them, so I walked away to find an other place to have my breakfast. If I had seen this level of disrespect from my employees, I would show them where the door is.

Got to feel for the staff with a few problems but they are still smiling and cheerful. Coffee and scones so tasty. In an usually situation amongst shelves of books.

Always a warm welcome. Selection of coffee's, tea's, nibbles, cakes, sandwiches is very good. Seating amongst books gives it an unusual feel but pleasant and comfy.

The café is located on the 1st floor of the Waterstones book shop in the town centre. It has a pleasant atmosphere with tables located amongst the books for sale. We enjoyed a latte, cappuccino, blueberry muffin and cheese and tomato focaccia sandwich for £11.10.

Been a couple of times today 29/12/18 @ 10am busy with only two staff but still smiling. So many different styles of seating make it very unusual. Coffee is very nice and different cakes, scones and sandwiches. Will definitely be back. Is also dog friendly.

Often pop in the food is fresh and the coffee is good. Can be hard to get a seat if it’s busy so it’s a lucky dip

This coffee shop above Waterstones Darlington was a Costa until 2 years ago,but unlike the major chains has an independent feel to it,starting with the warm welcome from the barista.Good choice of nibbles on offer, so instead of the usual scone to accompany morning coffee,we opted for sourdough toast which was excellent.Milk is supplied by the local dairy.Sitting among the bookshelves gives off a different, almost educational vibe, and whilst the coffee shop was full there was not the deafening background noise that is usually prevalent so for a change no need to shout at each other to have a conversation. The coffee actually tasted like coffee not hot milk with a bit of caffeine and at £4 for coffee and toast represents excellent value. Its the second time I have visited in the last month and this will not be the last time

Traditional cafe with traditional food cooked to order and cooked as well as any top notch restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious. Friendly and engaging staff.

Lovely little cafe. Very reasonably priced. The gentleman that served us was very quick and helpful. There is changing facilities for children, highchairs, a really cute motorbike rocking horse and a standard rocking horse so a few things to keep little ones busy whilst you finish your meal. They also have decaf tea, perfect for a breastfeeding mama. Oh yeah and they offer a mammoth breakfast, 4 bacon, 4 sausage, 4 eggs, 4 black pudding, fried bread, toast, beans, tomatoes etc for under a tenner. I didn't order it but I imagine it would be incredible and a great hangover cure. Please leave me a helpful vote if you found this review useful.
