Those characters are the owners Irene and Victor. Victor's food is amazing, Irene's service is attentive and friendly. The pair of them are crackers and make your visit to their little cafe an absolute hoot! Love them!

Fabulous place, great food and wonderful service. We found this place by accident while waiting to meet friends. Spent the whole afternoon there. Wonderful surroundings and atmosphere, I could have spent all day looking at the books and paintings. Even the crockery was Impressionist! I loved it. Will definitely be back.

My partner & I think that this is the best cafe in Darlington. Irene and Victor who own it are the loveliest people, you come in as customers and leave as friends. If you are feeling under the weather then this place will cheer you up. All the meals are homemade, sandwiches are made to order and never pre-packed. Prices are reasonable, they have a range of dinners on for only £5.50 each. Today my partner had pork steaks and vegetables with an orange sauce. I had a large bowl of spaghetti bolognese. Delicious. My favourite meal is gammon, homemade chips and fried eggs with a slice of pineapple (optional) and citrus sauce. Superb. They also do homemade chips in a newspaper cone like the old days for children only £1. There's a wide range of homemade cakes and desserts to satisfy a sweet tooth that Victor lovingly prepares. Irene makes her own shortbread. The cafe decor is inspired by the Impressionists and the walls are adorned with art. There are also art books to read and they provide a daily paper. Irene and Victor love their music and their selections provide a great background atmosphere. They are also trying out a set meal on an evening once a month. So come along and find out for yourself how special this cafe really is, you won't be disappointed.

What a lovely quirky cafe. A work of art in itself. Stopped for breakfast with my husband and 4 year old son. The couple that owned it were so friendly my little boy asked when can we go again! Breakfast was beautiful, great portions and competitively priced. It's a little hidden gem.

Very quirky inside, lots of impressionist paintings (as the name would suggest), all over the walls, mugs, plates and everything else. Great, friendly service and good filling food. Recommend getting full english!

Already a favourite, this tearoom is a little gem in Cockerton. Irene and Victor are the perfect hosts and we had a few laughs as we dined. Lovely food, cooked there and then. It's great value and with its quirky decoration it all made for a completely enjoyable meal. Good luck to you both!

We dined in this tearoom on Friday night, The owners Irene and Victor held a Burns Supper. The food was FAB-U-LOUS,hte cullen skink was a dream and the balmoral chicken was the best I've ever had(and I am Scottish). The atmosphere is so welcoming, and our hosts could not do enough! Value for money and beyond! It really is a gem! Wish you every success , and would recommend this establishment wholeheartedly!!!

Lovely little cafe. Very reasonably priced. The gentleman that served us was very quick and helpful. There is changing facilities for children, highchairs, a really cute motorbike rocking horse and a standard rocking horse so a few things to keep little ones busy whilst you finish your meal. They also have decaf tea, perfect for a breastfeeding mama. Oh yeah and they offer a mammoth breakfast, 4 bacon, 4 sausage, 4 eggs, 4 black pudding, fried bread, toast, beans, tomatoes etc for under a tenner. I didn't order it but I imagine it would be incredible and a great hangover cure. Please leave me a helpful vote if you found this review useful.
