Waterstones in Cirencester is a joy. Staff are exceptional and I can’t praise Olivia enough. Her knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious and the energy she brought to locating the right book was gratefully received. Bought several books on sound advice from her. Also a huge selection of Paperblanks which have been difficult to get elsewhere (Guildford).

Brilliant customer service from Olivia. She is very clearly passionate about literature and reading. I asked her for recommendations and she was so helpful and enthusiastic, taking me around the shop and going above and beyond to find books that I would enjoy!

Cafe is fine for a cake and coffee whilst dipping into books that you'll look at before ordering off Amazon later. Tends to get busy and the staff can get flustered but it's OK. It is what it is

I said to the woman on the till that I had a Waterstones plus account as I input my pin in the machine and she just shrugged. I asked her if she could apply the discount. She shrugged. Said well not really. I said the woman in the till was able to do so. She shrugged again. I said can you do it if I give you my Waterstones plus account number. She shrugged. I tried to log in on my mobile. I forgot my password and eventually said I would have to give up. She shrugged again. I get back and find that all along this wasn’t possible. She could have made an effort. She made no effort. She could have told me it was too late because in the till receipt it says: ‘YOU HAVE JUST MISSED OUT ON 4 STAMPS…’ But clearly she couldn’t give a damn. What charmless unpleasant ill-mannered human being. Some people are real a*******s - poor performance

Nice to see the little cafe at Waterstones open again after a year. Loose leaf tea was flavoursome and plentiful and a couple of slices of toast made a tasty snack.

We stopped into this coffee shop for a coffee and tea cake. For a start the tables are made of slatted wood- the muck between the slats is absolutely disgusting. On top of that they wanted to charge us 40p extra for a de-caf coffee. We have coffees daily and we’ve not been to another coffee shop where they charge extra for de-caf. We definitely will not be using this establishment again.

The cafe in Waterstones was not worth the visit. Very poor food, almost inedible, crispy bacon roll was cold and certainly not bacon, and the avocado on toast was on bread and certainly not fresh. The surroundings were not great either.

We still call in regularly, the cafe is very welcoming and the staff are, in the main, lovely. Coffee is good and a decent choice of cakes (although sad to see that Lavender Bakehouse is no longer the supplier) - but what we do find quite off-putting is that 90% of the cakes are not covered up - as well as keeping the cakes and pastries fresher, it would surely be more hygienic to have some form of clear covering, especially as the cake trays are right next to where customers are standing in the queue. It isn't self-service, so there doesn't seem to be any reason for the lack of covering.

I love that I can have a cup of hot chocolate while browsing for books. Occasionally, I have breakfast there or a slice of cake. It is the sorts of food quality one can expect from a cafe. It is nothing spectacular but meets the need to satisfy a little hunger. The staff is always polite and accommodating. I love the chit chat table where strangers can sit with each other to talk.

I've visited often since my first review, with a bit of a gap in the middle as the cafe seemed to go 'off' for a time. However, visited today and decided to review again. The two young ladies serving (Sunday) were very efficient and helpful. I've stopped ordering flat whites here, as the cups are just too small. Instead the cappucinos are very nice and a decent size, and the same price. Crumpets with marmite and a toasted teacake with jam were enjoyed and appreciated by us on a very wet and miserable day.

We found most cafes busy on this particular Saturday but Waterstones had some empty tables so we walked in. The restaurant is small so tables were very close to each other.50% of them were free and we noticed a percentage of them had trays of cups, saucers and dirty plates stacked up on them. Service was slow, so two of us ordered snacks and drinks whilst the other held the table.Within ten minutes or so the restaurant was full of people kids and dogs at which point we just wanted to make a sharp exit. The restaurant had a dogs welcome policy and we found ourselves surrounded by dogs a plenty, all happy to be outband vocalised occasionally with their doggy mates around the tables as they eyed up the tasty snacks on the tables. In establishments like this the dog owners seem to have the attitude that you must love and pet their dogs, most of which look to you for a stroke or some attention breathing doggy breath into the air around your food and drink. We like animals but don't want to share an enclosed space with them, and certainly not when the ambience is spoiled further by the families who not only bring their dogs but have large unwieldy buggies containing noisy toddlers and shopping bags making the limited space even more claustrophobic.Waterstones, we like a cafe to smell like coffee not a kennel. Bare in mind it's those on two legs that pay for the food and drinks. We won't revisit.

My first visit but I couldn’t resist a coffee as I’d just bought some books and it was raining outside. Very good coffee and nice atmosphere - you can wander straight in from the bookstore. My only frustration was that it was busy so I had to wait for a stool near the window. Would like to have a less rushed coffee next time but I can’t complain and not surprised it was busy on a Saturday morning.

Turns out - quite difficult. Lovely atmosphere and I go in here regularly to have a coffee and work. Went in with my family today and ordered a sandwich. The menu says sourdough - they had no sourdough, so what I received instead was STALE white bread with dry, cold chicken, cardboard bacon and avocado, with margarine, spread very unevenly. There was no lambs lettuce as described in the menu, which is fine as they gave us a few spinach leaves instead, but we had to ask for dressing (and mayonnaise to give the sandwich any taste at all.) They charged £5 for this so-called sandwich!! we left feeling VERY frustrated and disappointed.

I spotted the cafe adjoining this bookshop and decided to pop in for a browse and a coffee. What a Tardis! It was really big inside and the book collection was impressive. The cafe is great. It's dog friendly with dog biscuits in a jar. There is water available for customers in addition to the usual beverages. My cappuccino was hot and frothy. Great service. Our order was delivered to the table rather than asking customers to queue nearby. There are comfy armchairs in the window with a great view across to the Brewery Arts Centre. Lovely!

Visited for the first time and it was very busy so the staff were under pressure. However, our order was filled exactly as requested - extremely hot mocha with less chocolate; a very generous sized cup. The cakes all looked delicious and many were from The Lavender Bakehouse (our favourite Chalford Cafe). We had yummy salted caramel brownie; very good and not overly sweet.

Superb coffee and a lovely little place to sit. The one thing they need to sort is pace when busy. I called in on my work break and it took forever to get my drink as it was busy. It felt like a very new business some hope they sort that out as the coffee was lovely and they were friendly. Was better than coffee artisan!

This cafe is very frustrating! It's a really lovely place to sit and have a drink, cake or light lunch and they're very accommodating with babies and young children but whenever I go (about once every two weeks) the service is so so slow! I went today and there were plenty of spare tables (all needed clearing though) yet waited to be served at the front of the queue for nearly ten minutes while the staff faffed about behind the counter. It then took 15 minutes to bring us over two cokes and 40 minutes after ordering, my friend still hadn't received her sandwich. The lady next to us waited 35 minutes for a toastie which when it came was so burnt I don't know how someone in the kitchen or the waitress thought it was ok to serve. If you go and it's very quiet and there's no queue it's worth popping in but if there's any form of queue at the till I'd avoid it or ask how long the wait for service is and add 20mins on to what they say. Or go across the road to the Brewery Arts centre!

Stopped by whilst in Cirencester. Lovely bookshop but felt very let down by the coffee shop. Whilst the cafe area was spacious and attractive, the drinks we ordered were very poor and overpriced for what they were. The hot chocolate was like sludge, way too much froth on top and too much chocolate shaken over, a real disappointment. Had lemon drizzle cake which was veering towards dry. Partner's coffee was average but almond and raspberry cake was good. So we thought just under £10 for this was too much. The staff were pleasant and helpful but were slow to clear and clean tables, so cutting down the choice to sit at. We ended up clearing the one we wanted to sit at. The customer toilet was spacious and clean but there was a notice on the loo saying the toilet was slow to flush, they weren't joking. Come on Waterstones, get a grip, I'm sure you can afford to pay a decent plumber to resolve this. You also need to improve the drinks. A real let down in a wonderful bookshop. We won't be back.

Almost passed this little place by, as, from outside, it looked very dark. Had often visited when Costa was here and wasn't expecting anything very much, but was very pleasantly surprised. Tables were not crammed together, which was refreshing to start with, then checking out the cake choice at the counter, was pleased to see some nice cakes, which looked very appetising. The bakewell tart which I chose was the best I have ever eaten, and the coffees too. Flat whites, made properly. Staff were cheerful and engaging and I look forward to visiting again.

Pleasant quirky interior with a collection of mismatching tables and chairs- some more comfortable than others, nice atmosphere and very good coffee, absolutely delicious cakes and a selection of newspapers to read. However, it takes quite a long time to be served- you order at the counter and then they will bring your order to your table; their large teapots are extremely heavy albeit very pretty; the only water they have on display is with either lemon or cucumber slices and if you order some plein water, it's served in a strange sort of jam jar. Friendly staff make it a pleasant place for a morning coffee or afternoon tea (if you can lift the teapot!)

Centraly placed near the Brewery Car park, this is a delightful little coffee shop in Cirencester with a difference. Quite quaint in many ways with it's seeting arrangements, but quiet and cosy for those who want to relax a while. Their leaf tea is exceptional, and although I am not a coffee drinker, my wife tells me that their various coffees are at or above the standard of other establishments in the area. when it comes to service this little coffee house excels, swift, friendly and welcoming, there is also a great selection of cakes and pastries to enjoy. Only about ten tables in total, but if you are in Cirencester try not to miss this delightful little cafe, attached to the Waterstones book shop you will not be dissapointed

Fresh food, great service, child friendly too, what more could you want from a restaurant serving Sunday Lunch. We've just come back from Sunday Lunch at Roots + Seeds in Cirencester. Crispy beer batter on the fish, really chunky chips (not fries) silky smooth mushy peas pretty much a perfect combination. The young front of house team have been well trained to make everyone feel welcome too.

It appeared everyone had come upto the Cotswolds for wedding that weekends at the White Hart was our 5th attempt at finding a spot for dinner - turns out 5th time lucky it was! We had lovely service throughout dinner, fantastic food in a really lovely dining room. A lovely tea shop on the High St. I sat outside the front on the limited pavement seating. The staff were lovely and the food well presented. The pasty was though expensive and there was no wow factor. The ice bun was heavy and sticky. The coffee was delicious. Would return but not spend so much.
