Lovely bookstore in Lewes and a lot bigger inside than you would expect. Definitely worth a look if you are on the hunt for a good read

Nice little cafe to have a quiet coffee. Browse the bookshelves. Sit outside and watch the world go by.

Waterstones does lovely tea and a mellow coffee, the staff are always helpful, courteous, and interested. Its become my favourite place for a coffee in Lewes and the cupcakes are to be recommended. Its pity Lewes have restricted outside tables this year. But buy a book sit and read and enjoy the sunshine.

What more could anyone want. This is lovely bookshop with tables set in different rooms amongst the books. The coffee is good and the locally made cakes are really good. Very relaxing and a calm environment

Dropped in and had a nice coffee whilst the wife was shopping. Great cup of coffee, there are plenty of coffee and tea options as well as cold drinks, the usual cakes etc to accompany your drink. Internal and external seating. No complaints.

This sets the benchmark for all bookstores. A lovely, clean, professionally run bookstore, full of charm and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great for breakfast or lunch and catch up with human or literature friends ones.(:

As a fan of Waterstones in London, I was delighted to find a branch in Lewes. It had a little cafe, places to sit down, a loo, and a great selection of books, including a good section on the Bloomsbury Group. I always find something interesting to buy when I'm in Waterstones!

Lovely old building with handy cafe area. Most Waterstones are stocked to a standard formula, and this is no exception. There are lots of other bookshops in the town (new and second hand) so make sure you visit them too.

This place has a lovely feel to it. It reminds me of some of the book shop / cafes you see on tv with people sitting reading or chatting over a coffee. You can be on your own or with someone. It's a lovely place for a stop and get away from the hustle and bustle place in the centre of Lewes. The coffee was pretty decent, at least as good as many of the coffee shops. Enjoy a relax here, you'll keep coming back :-)

Extremely tepid (and strangely gritty) soya chai latte, matched by extremely rude and arrogant server who when I asked for it to be remade hotter told me (incorrectly) soya couldn't be heated beyond tepid because it splits. This can happen in coffee (usually because of acidity of coffee beans) but not in tea. Being told nonsense in a very unpleasant manner is not okay by me and I won't be returning.

I went with a friend because I want to look for a new book and was pleasantly surprised that there was a little bit where they made drinks and had cakes etc. There are tables dotted around the shop and its quite lovely to sit and have tea and a scone with a friend as you look around at all the books.

O.K I am fussy about coffee, I mean really fussy. I love coffee, both black and white, but rarely find it comes up to scratch when I have it away from home. I ordered flat white with an extra shot but was told there was not enough space for extra in the cups they use. I resigned myself to an over milky coffee so was overjoyed to be given a perfect balance of good flavoured coffee with hot milk. Sublime! Now add to that I love books so the surroundings were as tempting as the cakes on offer. The staff were friendly and efficient. Waterstones is now on my regular revisit list when in Lewes.

Strange Waterstones; lots of little rooms which gave it a quirky feel, but did make it feel tight in places. Probably needs more space to sit and relax.

a lovely bookshop which has kept the character of the old house in which it has been carved . Many rooms in which you can easily find what you are looking for or discover new books. Tables invite you to browse in comfort. You can also have a coffee and there are lots of ideas of books and presents for book lovers.

Most of us would go to Waterstones in Cliffe High street to browse the book shop, but I enjoy going in there for coffee and (sometimes) cake and whilst I am comfortably sitting sipping the coffee I can peruse the book shelves, and sometimes come across books of interest that I may not have noticed otherwise.

Visited pre Christmas for coffee and snack. Had to cope with book customers banging into my table. Had to cope with the corner of a shelf poking into my back whilst seated.

What a lovely way to stop for a coffee and cake......tables set around corners in this bookshop. We came across this concept in Bath but had not seen it anywhere else...now it comes to Lewes. Do visit you will not be disappointed plus the fact that you can browse the bookshelves.

This is a delightful place to enjoy a good coffee, hot chocolate and delicious cakes, whilst browsing through the well-laid-out book shelves. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxed, the staff are pleasant, knowledgeable, nothing is too much trouble, though they are sometimes overly busy. Only drawback is the temptation to buy too many books and cards!!
