Best restaurant I’ve been to while in holiday in Scotland. It’s in the same building as a gas station but don’t let this fool you. The atmoshpere inside is nice, the staff is very friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. We were told they cook everything themselves in house and we could tell that’s true. I had the pork with honey and whiskey sauce served with rice, others at the table had the haggis and the chicken bacon linguini and we were all blown away. This restaurant is like going back to your granny’s place and having a nice home cooked and tasty dinner.

Stumbled across this cafe/bistro whilst exploring the area. Staff were absolutely lovely. They made us and our four legged friend right at home. Food is freshly cooked and delicious.?I had the haddock. Definitely worth a visit if you’re passing. Highly recommended.

Het is niet wat je verwacht als je er binnenkomt, maar de dames zijn vriendelijk en het eten is echt voortreffelijk, omdat er verder geen plek was in dunvegan hadden we als laatste redding gekozen voor deze lokatie maar het was zo goed dat we er onze tweede avond in dunvegan ook gegeten hebben en wederom erg lekker gegeten De ambiance is misschien iets minder maar het eten en de vriendelijkheid maakt alles goed Dus als je in dunvegan bent zeg ik gewoon doen je zult verrast zijn

We stopped in for lunch after visiting the castle. I had the pan-fried fish special, which was fantastic. My husband enjoyed his toasted chicken salad roll. Service was very friendly and even helped us park.

This spot is a hidden gem! We were exploring dunvegan and came across it. We decided to stop for lunch which turned out to be a great decision. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend visiting!

We found this little gem of a restaurant by chance after our arrival at our camp site. We thought we might struggle to find somewhere as not booked and had our dogs with us. Don't be put off by the entrance next to the petrol station, once inside you get a beautiful view across the water. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and all agreed one of the best we've had on our trip so far. A surprisingly varied menu with a additional specials menu too. Thank you for the warm welcome and excellent service 👏👏

simple and not pretentious place but really good mama's kitchen and good food for money . we dont understand the bad revient frankly as we ve been there twice and have enjoyed the place , the good food and Sheilas smile ;) kirsty in the kitchen and cloe at the service , we recommend .

We ate here after reading great reviews- however our food was terrible:( I had the humous starter which tasted “off” which is the only way I can describe it My partner had the Thai crab cakes which were over cooked and burnt. My partner had the “cod fillet” with cheese and leek sauce but when it arrived it was clearly a frozen fish potion so over cooked it was hard to eat. Definitely would not recommend-walk the 50 yards to the pub on the opposite side of the road instead. Really poor food. Staff were friendly enough but not enough to make up for the food. :(

Don’t be fooled by appearances. Bistro is next to the garage, and you may just give it a second glance. But don’t. Great homemade food, and most of the dishes are GF. My wife and I both had the chicken curry, rice, onion Bhaji and mango chutney. Brilliant. Good wine at a very resonance price. The apple crumble with custard was great. Service was top notch, and staff were very friendly. Recommend you book. Don’t be a plonker and pass it by. Loads better than all these posh nosh places.

Had 2 takeaway coffee cups x2 of the "luxury seafood chowder" which cost £37.00!!! Wasn't luxury at all, filled with smoked cod. I was too embarrassed to say I didn't want it anymore after she told me the price. Should have asked first I guess, but clearly this was a rip off!!! I dint find the staff there friendly at all, in fact I felt awkward in there.

We konden geen restaurant vinden en kwamen uiteindelijk uit bij dit restaurant. Het was naast een benzinepomp. Het interieur ziet er niet bijzonder uit, maar het eten is bovenverwachting goed. En zeker niet duur. De mensen zijn erg bescheiden en kunnen moeilijk omgaan met complimenten. We hebben paté van makreel gehad met mierikwortelsaus. Daarna zalm als hoofdgerecht met nieuwe aardappelen. Het was erg lekker. Een pareltje.

Maybe we hit it when the chef was out sick, but our meals reminded us of that which would be served in a home for the elderly. The muscles were in a "broth" (I use the term loosely) of what appeared to be watery milk...

Went in for lunch and had excellent food, this is a truly hidden gem next to the petrol station (DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF). Soup was excellent! Staff very accommodating. Very dog friendly! Will definitely be back

Staying nearby we went to the Waterside on two occasions, good food both times and they have a selection of beers.

We ate here tonight and the food was really great. Really good vegan options - we ordered the tomato soup and vegetable cakes and both were really yummy. Staff were very friendly and service was v efficient.

Don't judge by the outside or the inside. The food is the champion. All made on site and wonderful. This is a small place so you can almost be a part of the preparation. Everything we had was delicious including the homemade desserts!

Had lunch here today with a friend and it was excellent.My smoked salmon salad was fresh and tasty. My friend had jacket potato with prawns and her plate was stuffed with lovely food too. Homemade coleslaw on both was quite delicious.Very good friendly service.Would recommend.

A previous review saying don’t judge a book by its cover is so true! We had dinner there & not only were they really accomodating with our 7 yr old child’s food choice (they made Mac & cheese with a chocolate milkshake when it wasn’t on the menu!) but the food was great! Lots of daily specials on the board & wine by the glass was good. The people that ran the place were really friendly & it was an enjoyable meal.

Dinner was fairly terrible. I got the sausage dinner and it was so overcooked in the microwave that it went beyond crunchy to ropelike. The mashed potatoes were bland and dry. I also received no gravy. My wife got the curry and it was decent. Overall the dinner was disappointing.

Tucked away in Dunvegan, Skye, this super dog friendly bistro is brilliant. The staff are delightful, restaurant spotless, the food delicious, hot and tasty. One to visit, you will not be disappointed

We stopped here due to there being no pub in the village. As already mentioned in a previous review don’t be put off by the fact this place is next to a petrol station.

Five ladies visited this cafe/restaurant over the past week. We had lovely memories of it from four years ago and we weren’t disappointed.

Wir sind aufgrund der guten Bewertungen gestern Abend ins Waterside eingekehrt. Leider hat uns das Essen sehr enttäuscht - das Chicken Curry war sehr fade, der Reis trocken und das Essen meines Mannes (Lammeintopf) hat leider ebenfalls überhaupt nicht geschmeckt. Abends hab’s dann noch Magenprobleme dazu. Die fast 35 Pfund hierfür waren absolut überteuert! Wir werden definitiv nicht mehr hingehen! Leider das schlechteste Essen bisher in Schottland. Das Ambiente war nicht schön und der Raum eisig. Einzig die Bedienung war nett - das könnte allerdings die restlichen Eindrücke nicht wettmachen. Daumen runter :(

We stopped here on the way to Dunvegan Castle and had a very tasty full breakfast (which the chef kindly provided even though it wasn't technically on the menu). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely.

Few places to eat in that area. The staff is welcoming and helpful but food was not good (except soup). Few choices for mains, some exotic dishes that were not good and expencive. Choose local food, i am sure it would be a bit better.

We found this place by accident. The food was very good and we were kindly received even with no reservation. Don't let it being beside the gas station fool you. The food was delicious and the service really good. I had a wonderful seafood stew that came in a huge bowl! The desserts are homemade and so yummy! There were many specials in addition to the regular menu so great selection. I would recommend!

This cafe was suggested to us by the owner of our B&B.; I had pre booked a table as was told it could book up - glad I did. When we arrived, earlier than expected we were given a choice of tables, all reserved. We had lasagne and chicken curry for dinner and sticky toffee pud. Lasagne was a big portion with side salad, chicken curry served with rice and mango chutney. I found the curry to be more like a stew, but then I enjoy spicy food. My husband enjoyed his lasagne. We both enjoyed our sticky toffee pud, big portion with ice cream - who could say no to that! Reasonably priced and owner had been very helpful taking my booking on Facebook and sending me photos of menu.

We wanted somewhere to eat when we arrived in Dunvegan and we managed to get the last table at the bistro. The staff are exceptionally friendly - all local and full of ideas as to how you might spend your time. The food choices were wide - enhanced by a good specials board. A reasonable choice of drinks. Fairly tight seating but not to the point of being intrusive. We enjoyed it so much we went back later in the week.

Binnen is de sfeer matig, meer een bedrijfskantine. De kaart is zeer beperkt, maar ze hebben wel veel specials (meer dan reguliere menu items!).

We were so happy to chance upon this little café. Only been in Skye a couple of days but frustrated already with all the fully booked restaurants and fine dining options. Not that this should reflect badly on this little gem. Exactly what we were looking for, laid back and friendly with home cooked healthy food.

Yes, it looks very modest ....,,but the food was good, fresh and prompt. The waiter was a delight, attentive and welcoming, and it filled up quickly.... the chowder was top notch and my bacon and Parmesan salad delicious. Husband had haggis and neeps which he said needed more pepper.... but then he likes hot and spicy so maybe just personal taste. It is part of the petrol station and only in such a remote spot would you consider such a combo.... but it works!

Stopped there on our last night of our holiday. The seafood chowder was sublime and the bacon salad had a dressing to die for. Attentive staff, reasonable prices and local beer. Happy days.

There are limited options to eat out in Dunvegan. This restaurant is attached to the service station so is not very welcoming. Service is virtually non existent and you'll wait a long time for your food. It's also expensive for what you get. Only eat here if there is no other option.

Such a friendly welcome and trrrific meal with great baked veggies. A little gem and well worth a visit. You can buy a plant in their tiny nursery too!

Das Bistro liegt leicht versteckt in einer Tankstelle und macht von innen wesentlich mehr her als von außen. Leider gibt es jedoch keine richtigen Parkplätze weshalb die Autos teilweise an der Tankstelle parken was dort wiederraum dem Raum weg nimmt.

We visited this cafe for a drink and a cake after finding it recommended on Trip Advisor. As per that review, the outside is not very appealing because it’s in the forecourt of a petrol station. Once inside however, it’s very pleasant and there is a nice outside seating area- great if you have wet dogs. The choice is excellent both for food and drinks. I had a scone with jam - the scone was home made and warm and I don’t know what the brand of jam was, but it was divine. My husband had a tray bake chocolate cake, again warmed with cream which was also very good. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this place if you have been to coral beach or dunvegan castle.

This place is very welcoming, with an interesting range of dishes on the menu. However the main courses were quite ordinary. The vegetables and lentils with rice and poppadum lacked flavour and sauce. The vegetables in the beef casserole in a Yorkshire pudding (nice idea) were over cooked and again lacked flavour. The sticky toffee pudding on the other hand was good and very generous. A shame really, because we really wanted to give this place top ranking.

This cafe was recommended to me by the owner of the BnB at which I was staying in Dunvegan and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the sausages with mash, onion gravy and peas, with sticky toffee pudding of course. The staff were very kind and made conversion with their patrons to make then feel at home. I would definitely come back.

Na het inchecken bij onze B&B; op advies naar deze bistro gelopen. Op het eerste gezicht zouden wij dit zelf hebben vermeden daar het bij een tankstation zit. Het eten is echter heel lekker en gemaakt van lokale producten. Je wordt bediend door een zeer aardige en gezellige man die je graag een zo fijn mogelijke avond wilt bieden.

If it wasn't for a persistent and hungry friend I would probably have skipped a visit to the Waterside Cafe, because it just doesn't look very inviting, but I'm glad I did go in. Inside, the cafe looks very welcoming and you can sit on the outside terrace too - which we did, because it was a beautiful and sunny day. The dogs and ourselves were warmly welcomed by the people who run this cafe - dog owners themselves and prices are reasonable and cakes are home baked, And the vegetarian soup was lovely too.

While staying in Dunvegan we decided to wander down for some dinner. So glad we did, great food and amazing service. Would definitely go back.

We got a little lost on our route and found ourselves at this petrol and cafe. The chowder was hearty, fresh, and flavorful. We also had the paninis with cheddar cheese and Cajun chicken. It was perfectly grilled and came with a nice side salad. For such a small place, this cafe has good, local food and has a cozy atmosphere. Worth a stop!

Staying in Dunvegan we were looking for somewhere for lunch. Great food, especially the chowder and super location. Worth popping in when passing.

My wife and I got to our bed and breakfast a little late on a Saturday night and were stuck for a place to get supper. The owners of the B&B; called a few places, all of which had no availability for us. They then called the Waterside Cafe Bistro who despite were closing in twenty minutes, said they would take us. Honestly, if our B&B; hadn't recommended this place, we never would have thought to go since its location is attached to a gas station. It might be a little weird to think of a good restaurant being located where it was for someone not from Europe, but the food was fantastic and that's the most important part of going to a restaurant! My wife and I both had a chicken curry dish that we loved and the service was great. The restaurant even decorates their walls using locally made arts and crafts that you can purchase if you really like them. Overall, this was an excellent little gem!

First walked in to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed, ordered bangers & mash, received microwaved sausages, still frozen peas and smash. The waitress who served us was nice but the other member of staff stared a lot and didn't make us want to stay. Went to the toilet to see our food being microwaved. £13 each for this. Was not very happy with our meals at all and would not recommend

We were a little skeptical of the restaurant attached to a gas station but decided to try it based on positive TripAdvisor reviews. It is nice and clean on the inside with a view of the loch. We had seafood Chowder and Rosemarie Salad and both were delicious. The young Scottish man who waited on us was delightful. Try it and we believe you will not be disappointed.

We ordered the vegetable curry which was ok, vegetarian lasagne which was mediocre- rather like a frozen style with a couple of chunks of vegetables and the rest sloppy pasta. The crusty bread was two slices of dry, day old baguette for £11 and the Chilli was a small portion to say the least! Expensive for mediocre, cafe food. Slow service and lots of 'pinging' could be heard from the kitchens microwave. Give it a miss!

On searching the web so dog friendly lunch spots in Dunvegan, Waterside Cafe Bistro popped up so we thought we would give it a go. The customer service was excellent and our waiter even pooped into the kitchen to get a little treat for the dog. The food was good and arrived quickly but the portion size was a bit on the small size (but maybe because we are big eaters!)

We enjoyed our last supper on Skye at this little Bistro, The service was very good and the waiter friendly. The food was also very good. I couldn't remember the name of this place and was trying to google cafes and restaurants in the Glendale and Dunvegan area. So glad I found it on google and would definitely visit again next time we are in Scotland. Unfortunately it was 2015 summer we last were on Skye and the dates below were not earlier than Sep 2016.

The very first time we have eaten here and I must say I am blown away. The food was stunning as was the service. My husband works in the industry and he was delighted with absolutely everything. Menu choices show a fantastic range of local, Scottish produce which is so rare to see. A definite recommendation to all!!

We stopped here after realising that every restaurant in the vicinity closed at 2pm until dinner time (which we found mental). So glad we did! The lad who served us was very friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate us! The food came and wasn't 5* but it was tasty and filled a hole - it is a cafe after all! The prices are very reasonable considering it's a huge tourist destination and clearly captured audience as everywhere else closes early! The interior is nice and clean however we chose to sit on their decking which is again nice and clean. Best part is the free wifi which is surprisingly rare on the island! I would definitely recommend and return!

Popped in for a drink after a long drive to Skye and received a warm welcome from the staff. Young Lady from Glasgow and her son chatted to us and made us most welcome.

Stopped here while visiting the town. We turned up just before they were due to close (8.30pm) but they happily accommodated us. Food was great and service from new waiter excellent. Seafood chowder in particular is definitely recommended.
