This lovely space in the centre of the gallery is decorated with ornate tiles and pillars. We enjoyed good coffee and cake and had the place to ourselves.

This café occupies a very attractive space in the historic hallway of the Victoria Museum. We had two coffees, which were well priced at £2.60 each. The staff were very friendly. We were really annoyed that the university has instructed them not to take cash. This excludes many people.

We went there following a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral. We hadn’t booked and there were 17 of us. They found us at table and took our orders quickly. We were all having lunch and beverages. Food was good and menu choices were varied. Beautiful setting and we were able to look around the gallery’s.

In a gorgeous space a varied selection of goodies is available. It wasn’t busy on arrival so enjoyed rapid service and ample choice of seating. It’s delightfully ornate, that combined with pleasant staff and tasty fare made for an enjoyable stop-off.

I came more for the setting ,so only had a coffee. The setting inside the university is great and reminds me of the bistro at Manchester university. Well worth a visit.

On the day I visited there was a private Christmas luch event so didnt sample the food but if it is anything like the meal I saw it must be superb. Very jealous I couldnt partake. Had a coffee which was very acceptable indeed. Lovely location & surrounding. Visit the gallery and museum also while there.

.....despite the website saying closed (the museum IS closed on Mondays). I mentioned this to staff who knew and were not bothered. Strange how complacency can endanger a gorgeous venue serving a good variety of lunch options. Oh well...

On arrival at the jaw dropping splendour of the Waterhouse Café, our group of 40 was greeted by still warm, freshly baked, homemade cookies to accompany our teas and coffees. Then after our excellent guided tours of the Gallery & Museum, we were back for our pre-booked lunch. Everything was ready right on time, served by very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of freshly cut sandwiches to go with the generous servings of delicious, home made soup. Would highly recommend.

Lovely place food lovely but if you don't want your hot drink with your meal give it a miss! We asked for out latte to come after our meal --- it came before the meal was taken away & brought back 2 minutes later by a different waitress & was taken away again!

Stumbled across this cafe and I am so glad I did. The building is fabulous as was the coffee and lemon cake. Brilliant exhibition upstairs by John Higgins a local born artist. Can't wait to go back with hubby.

We were at the Gallery for a John Higgins retrospective (he drew Judge Dredd and coloured Watchmen) and decided to have a bite before enjoying the art. So nice to find a museum cafe that felt atmospheric rather than functional! Dining amongst pillars and high ceilings was a delight. D and A had the Greek salads (both enjoyed the cheese but felt the dressing was a little un-Greek) me and G had the Chicken Caesar Salad, which was spot on! A nice amount of chicken (so often le poullet can be a little sparse) and a tasty dressing. Thoroughly recommend if you're visiting the gallery!

sshh! don't tell everyone, but just up the street from "Paddys Wigwam" is the red brick building which was built by Waterhouse, who built all his buildings in red brick, which earned him the not so nice nickname Slaughterhouse Waterhouse. The café is downstairs in this wonderful building with its original tiled walls and columns, and as a treat you can wander upstairs to the museum, of which a part is a fascinating history of false teeth! not to be missed! especially the gory story of "soldiers teeth"!

A big contrast to going to the Student's Union across the road. In a beautifully kept Victorian museum and art gallery, one can enjoy a drink and snacks . There is Wi-fi but a shortage of power points .

We have been a number of times due to the excellent eclectic gallery and museum. Never busy. It's a hidden gem. Good free concerts 1pm Wednesdays. You do have to book but it's free. Beautiful setting. Totally worth a visit if you are in Liverpool near the University Campus. Great little museum.

Popped here for lunch with some colleagues one day. The cafe itself is in a lovely old building and the interior is really pretty. The tables and chairs are a bit canteen esque though. The food is nice and was standard price. The staff were great, very friendly and happy to make changes to dishes for one of our group.

Set in an atmospheric Victorian tiled splendour this is a "Must Visit" Cafe. The coffee is superfab, the staff are super freindly (Toast and Jam is really good). Just make that effort to climb Brownlow Hill or bus it and you will be heavily rewarded as the best hidden gem in Liverpool ...... no exageration

Great décor, accessibility, staff and food. However having planned and booked our visit with great difficulty, my sister who was travelling up from London on the day of the landslide and flooding was delayed 30 minutes. We were told too late after I rang to tell them one of our party would be a little late that they were closing at 1pm because of installing new tills. I was outraged and it is such a pity that this marred our visit.

If you want atmospheric, it doesn't get much better than this. It's a wonderful venue for lunch and is the building that essentially coined the term "red brick" for universities. It's always full at lunch time, even outside of term, so advice is to book if you want to go at peak times (1pm on Thurs. 4th August was packed). I took a former student friend, a now high flying London based business man, and he couldn't believe how cheap it is. Good quality for a great price. Never any complaints in the years I've been going.

My girlfriend asked for a medium strawberry acai with lemonade but no ice and the drink cost £5.60 already for this price you could expect them to fill the cup, instead served a small cup half full, i asked if they could fill it up with lemonade as every other starbucks has done. I had to ask for a refund as i wasnt paying £5.60 for a half drink, we sat down to enjoy some time together and we overheard us them attempt to whisper about me asking for a refund by one staff member to the other and i found this to rude, when all i asked was a simple request. Any other starbucks or even staff have been much more accommodating. Wont be returning and ask people to go to the other starbucks in town centre.

We ordered a giant cookie on the second of feb to be collected on the 17th feb giving plenty time for it to be made. The day before pick up I ran the branch and asked about the cookie to which the lady rudely replied she hadn’t got an order and that there was lots of staff so it had gone missing, she didn’t even think to ask what was my order and instead told me to ring back at 4:30pm as she was extremely busy. As this cookie was for an event I didn’t want to risk not getting it and with the employee not really listening and being rude on the phone I went down to speak to her to my Surprise (not) she was not busy instead on her phone with her headphones in I spoke about the issue with the missing order and showed her my receipt to which she replied (I believe you) well I’m glad she did as she took my order on the 2nd. She never apologised or even acknowledges her mistake instead was extremely rude. I’m sure this isn’t the time of person Millie’s wants as the front for there business because I will not be going back and I’m sure others will feel the same if they have to deal with the same rudeness and inconvenience.
