A lovely and very well decorated restaurant with very poor customer service. All the standard duties of a restaurant just missed. Drinks were not offered through out our meal, no one around to ask for more drinks or to take our dishes when finished. Food was very average for the price. When we finally got someone’s attention and asked for dessert we thought we had been forgotten as the waiting time was far too long, they informed us that our ticket did not go through to the kitchen and gave us extra scoops of ice cream. Very unfortunate that a lack of customer service has let down a very beautiful setting.

Went alone for work. Fancied a change of scene. This was a short walk away from my accommodation. Good food, view over the lake. Quite expensive.

Came for a spa day and booked into the restaurant. Two of us ordered an onion bhaji burger with Cajun spiced chips. When it came the chips did not have any spice on them. We queried it and one of the waiters finally returned with a small pot of curry powder .. when asked what were we supposed to do with it he replied sprinkle it over your chips!! All the meals were over average price and then they had the cheek to charge service charge after such poor service from the kitchen. The food was on par with Wetherspoons but double the price.

Along with 14 other Ladies we sat down to our 'Christmas Lunch'. Although some of our party would have preferred something else we were told that we all had to have the same menu and could not be mixed with anything from the main menu. The Dinner was, to say the least inedible. Frozen, uncooked cold sprouts, diced frozen veg, hardly a handful. Three chunks of dry tasteless (not even sure if it was Turkey) grey meat, a circle of shop bought stuffing, no flavour whatsoever and a splash of brown liquid purporting to be gravy. I asked for cranberry sauce, which arrived too late to disguise the taste in a bowl that had been dipped into with dried bits all around the edge and no spoon!! Friendly but totally untrained staff with no idea of service. I didn't complain at the time as I didn't want to embarrass the Host. How this Restaurant ever got awarded any Rosettes is beyond me!! Its not the first time the food has been poor. The complimentary coffee and miniscule mince pies did not fill me up!!

The setting is nice, modern decor, view of the lake etc - to begin my colleagues tea was tepid - which the server knew but still served it, we waited an age to order more drinks before finally they came to take a food order - we all ordered from the menus placed in front of us, 4 cooked breakfasts and a eggs Benedict- 30 mins later still no food and we were only then approached to be told that the kitchen stopped serving cooked breakfast at 0900hrs! We reordered from the food available - when some of that food came 2 dishes were incorrect, they were sent back - after an hour and a half with no food (orange squash instead of orange juice also might I add) we gave up and left - we had tried several times to raise our concerns with the ‘manager’ Eloise - we were ignored- Eloise as supervisor you had numerous opportunities to solve this for us but you watched it crash and burn - at one point when we asked to speak to you you replied sarcastically- yes in a minute! for this I blame the senior management here - who were all absent- rarely have I witnessed such appalling service! At one point we considered if we had inadvertently attended a Fawlty Towers sketch- sadly not it’s just the routine service here - avoid if at all possible! Btw we ended up having an excellent lunch at Ferro in St Neots 8 mins drive away- go there instead!

Really lovely views and nice and quiet. Drinks and food on more expensive side. Cheese board was nice but nothing exceptional. Calamari was nice.

We stayed in this hotel for a family wedding didn’t get chance to check bathroom out the toilet was very dirty I sent letter of complaint my complaint got ignored wudnt stay here again

Not only expensive but the forgot our order and there was only 3 other people in the bar ! . As we were waiting for the Spa to open we needed a drink . Never again !

Breakfast hot buffet foods cold ( fortunately a member of staff organised hot in the end Evening restaurant put me off as a "designer" range of foods and very expensive and couldnt believe I saw nothing on menu that I would have gone for

Absolutely shocking service! Such a disappointment. We booked a table for 7 people for Mother’s Day. Truly lovely setting and interior but will not be returning due to the horrendous service. We waited so long for our drinks we went and took them from the bar ourselves where the waiting staff watched and didn’t apologise or intervene. Food was ok but by then we were fed up with being ignored. There was only one other table with a group of 5 so they weren’t busy. Heaven forbid when they are full! Will not be returning despite being very local to me.

we had 3 lovely courses ,great service from Zoe . The restaurant overlooks the lake after our meal we moved to lounge area for drinks which was very comfortable

Please have a look at our previous reviews, I like to think we are balanced in our feedback. This is the first time I’ve been moved to a place a one star review. Stayed here as part of a spa break. On the upside the spa and newly refurbished hotel are great. The food on the other hand….. First of all this restaurant is now rebranded as “the gravel pit” following the restaurant refurb. Ordered the 16oz t bone steak for £35. It was as thin as shoe leather so the chances of them cooking this anything less than well done was never going to happen regardless of what we ordered. Sent that back and ordered cod loin which absolutely stunk. I get fish has a fishy smell but this was off the scale. Had to go and brush my teeth after to try and get rid of the taste. Partner had chicken fajitas and which were ok but def not restaurant quality. Overall a very nice spa and hotel that has had a recent refurb. That said it’s all going to be for nothing if the food is this bad.

Discovered this location as a stop off for our journey home. Beautiful lakeside setting, plenty of nice rattan style seating with ample space inbetween. Limited menu, need more choice imparticular on the starters, chose the chicken wings, were very nice not too spicy but not sure if 5 wings and a pot of sour cream is good value for money. My wife had the sweet potato falafel, enjoyed the falafel but could have been cooked for a tad longer. Both with the pork belly ( on other menu on QR code states duo of pork) little confusion. Great portion size with the pork belly slice but was not crispy on the top, very fatty ( yes I know pork belly is fatty) but we were disappointed that the skin/top part of the slice was a tad under done, should be slowed cooked bit appears rushed. Accompanied by mash potato, quite bland needs lifting Then apple sauce was nice but not enough for size of the pork. Side order of seasonal veg was fresh but would expect peas and green beans for the price we paid. Little underwhelmed overall. :-( but a few adjustments and will be a lovely meal I'm sure.

This place has always been bad in my eyes. It doesn't know what it wants to be. I've played golf here many times and never had a warm welcome. I've had business lunches here and also dined privately. The staff have always been slow. Went for a couple of drinks here a few nights ago. No atmosphere in the bar or dining area. No background music. Just felt flat/dead.

We again visited Wyboston for an annual golf outing and as usual the arrangements went really well...golf, coffee, bacon rolls, 2 course dinner BUT the price of bar drinks is really getting excessive and maybe now above London prices with beers £5-6/pint and in excess of £3 for soft drinks. Bar staff being inexperienced didn't help while others stood around looking bemused. The fat that the bar/restaurant area was almost deserted speaks for itself. More realistic drink pricing please!

For a prestigious restaurant I was shocked that I was asked to sign a disclaimer for my nut allergy. I have never been asked to sign a disclaimer in my years of having an allergy and travelling all over the world!I ordered my food after having referred to the allergen menu which was all clear. A young waitress then came over and shoved a piece of paper in my face saying “my manager says you need to sign this.” After refusing we were then approached by 2 managers who also proceeded to make me sign the disclaimer!!The staff seemed like they didn’t have a clue about the situation and how to cater for allergens. All the waiting staff were extremely young , I understand everyone has to start somewhere , but they were all very inexperienced; reading drinks out from the receipt, dropping glasses and generally coming across as very nervous. Maybe a busy Saturday night was not the time to have all the young staff on. The food, when it eventually did come was average. I was extremely surprised by the lack of professionalism of the staff at what I thought was a superior eating establishment in St.Neots. Will not be returning.

Food was good. Lovely location for this brasserie style restaurant. Felt very relaxed and waiter/waitresses very attentive. In simmer would be great as you could sit outside looking out over the lake. My on criticism would be drinks are a little pricey but awesome experience for our wedding anniversary.

Another year, another management style. This is an AA one-rosette place with prices to match (gulp). Limited but adequate menu and wine list. Pleasant location and view, especially if you make sure to get a window table; some of the area is quite gloomy and the low ceiling makes it very noisy. Food ok, except that the extra seasonal vegetables were carrot, bits of courgette and kale. Seasonal?? In August??? My steak came with very thick chips and my pate came with a thick brioche which was rather difficult.

The food at this hotel was excellent. Cannot fault. Breakfast you had a wide range and eveything possible thing was catered for.

Situated a mile or two from St Neots and not far at all off the A1 road for those seeking a stopover meal, and surrounded by lakes from old gravel workings and a golf course, this is a modern facility, less than 30 years old. Tends to be dominated by golfers but it is a large scale place and does competent food. The food is very varied and is of a decent standard. Not the sort of place for an evening out but ideal for lunch - it's basically the dining room of the golf club but given a separate identity. All welcome.

Dinner was a struggle... only because the choices were so tempting & the main course was superb. Lovely surroundings & the service was very friendly & professional. Would certainly recommend. Only slight minus point was two bottles of beer were £11 ?!

Visited the complex for one night and chose to eat here. Welcoming staff and a nice feel to the place. Had a beer by lake while waiting for our table.Menu was quite extensive and most would be able to find something to suit. We had the burger and the half chicken which we enjoyed. Food was good and again service was fine. In all, a good experience for reasonable cost.

Used whilst at hotel for two nights. Lovely views cross lake & there is the option of eating outside, weather permitting, as all areas are serviced by waiting staff.

This restaurant has a lovely view overlooking the lake and fountain. Outside seating is available. In the restaurant, tables have plenty of space around them and are nicely laid. Menu choice is quite wide with some unusual dishes to choose from. Service is very good and diners are not rushed. Long bar area with plenty of seating (some of which needs reburbishing). Lively atmosphere.

The bar area was very clean and tidy with lovely helpful staff , it also has very nice views over the lake and outside seating

We had a lovely family meal with very good food served overlooking the lake. There was a good choice of food and the wine was reasonable.

Went for lunch, called ahead and were kindly given a table a few hours later.

We had to prebook our meals & when we arrived they had no knowledge of what we wanted, so that was a little worrying. Sadly disappointed with the meal. Firstly the soup was barely warm, then the roast dinners had to go back to be warmed up. The Waterfront salad was nice but very small.

The food made our hotel stay, it truly was excellent and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels. Well done to the chefs! More staff needed on the bar as often a long wait..

Met here for a business meeting with some colleagues. It didn't start well when the drinks waitress didn't know what beer they sold or indeed what a "pinot" was. she also didn't help herself when admitting she spilt the drinks over a guest the night before. Then things really started to go downhill. The waiter (who was more interested in chatting with his fellow staff than serving us) had a look of bewilderment when asked about certain elements of the menu. We ordered anyway in the hope that the description on the menu was sufficient. My starter of duck was 4 thin slices of duck with dollops of piccalilli. Totally tasteless and eaten in seconds.

Great range of food which was very good and the service was excellent. Overall a good restaurant but not very good value, being rather expensive.

It started off badly by asking for coffee which was never brought, and a coffee machine which was switched off an hour before close of service. Very strangely at a health spa, the breakfast self-service was piled high with various fatty meats; with very little for vegetarians. The chef, who looked harassed, occasionally brought out a totally inadequate number of eggs on a small tray which people pounced on immediately. The unhealthy meats were generally left alone and presumably wasted.

The views from the restaurant are great. The menu is good with all dishes looking appetising. The dishes we ordered were all fresh and very tasty. The staff were all helpful and friendly.

I really enjoyed food here this week. I went for the lamb fillet which was so tender it literally fell apart. Beautiful restaurant overlooking the stunning lake. All the staff were so friendly. Would highly recommend.

We decided to try this restaurant again after quite a few disappointments .

Visited for a bite to eat in the evening. The environment and atmosphere is very nice. The food was good. Pork belly was very tasty and the Waterfront burger is a safe option for anyone who likes a posh burger.

We went for my mums 70th birthday- I couldn’t fault anything. The food was amazing with so much choice for vegetarians and children. Great surroundings and lovely staff. Will definitely be going back.

Overall, we had a lovely meal here on Saturday night. Very nicely appointed room, friendly staff, good service. The drinks menu was extensive and there's a nice range of gin, and cocktails. Nice to see so many people dressing up and making an effort for dinner. The food was ok - not amazing. A bit hit and miss really with some courses notably better than others. We were eating as part of a deal at the hotel, so the total package was good value, but I would have been a bit disappointed if I had just come to the restaurant for dinner.

We had booked in advance and were very pleased to have a lakeside view on a lovely sunny day. The food was excellent, service was very good, plus it was really good value. We will definitely be returning.

Booked a table in the bar overlooking the beautiful lake. The view is amazing and really shows off the stunning setting of Wyboston Lakes - I think it’s best to be seated in the bar area as from the restaurant you would miss the views.

I stayed here for business , I will review the hotel and the restaurant separately as it’s clear people come here to eat separately. Nice atmosphere , efficient staff and good drinks selection. Food was good, we had the steak so it’s not complex to make but was nice and came out quickly. The menu was limited for my tastes but like I say it was cooked well. Would eat here again if was in the area.

For our first meal at this resort we chose the Waterfront restaurant. Seated very quickly and menu produced after we had chosen did not have long to wait for the food. As it was Friday we both had fish and chips. My partner likes very simple English food and found difficulty in choosing.

We’d booked here at 2pm on our way back from a girls weekend away. Four of us had a perfect table overlooking the lake (inside) and we had a salad, salmon bloomers & chicken, 3 portions of chips, coffees and cold drinks. Total £15 each . Very nice place and sat outside with our coffees.

13 of us descended on the Waterfront restaurant for Sunday lunch today for my Nana’s 80th Birthday. Honestly cant fault it! On Sunday the restaurant serves a set roast menu which includes beef/pork and chicken, veggie and then a fish option which was salmon. Great choices for starters aswell! For starts my boyfriend and I both had the mozarella, tomato and pesto salad and for mains we both had the salmon. Really lovely!! The roast potatoes were so tasty and the sauce that came with the fish was beautiful. The rest of the table had the chicken ceaser to start or the salmon gravlax. The ceaser was like a main in itself! Huge portions. They also had the chicken and beef roasts for main and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The only critism on the beef dishes was that the beef was slightly overdone for some peoples tastes. Service was fabulous! Wine was flowing, very attentive and the waitresses were so sweet with our constant request for photos to be taken. We didnt want for anything, nothing was too much and it was a nice change to have a great meal coupled with great service - thanks all!

Stopped off here a couple of times for lunch. Never too busy, menu quite limited and expensive, service ok although sometimes you have to try and get the staffs attention. The one perk to coming here is sitting outside by the lake on a nice summers day! Makes it worth the while!

I visited here for the first time with my friends last week. I had heard great things about it, with it being on the water and upmarket I was expecting quite a lot.

From starter to desert, the food was to die for, wonderful flavours, massive shout out to the chef. The service was exceptional, waiter was very helpful and polite making great conversation with us, was a pleasure to dine at the Waterfront Restaurant and Bar.

We booked our stay which included a 3 course meal. The menu has plenty of choice but some items had additional charge. Was a tad surprised at the size of the fillet steak which had a £10 surcharge and an additional charge for the peppercorn sauce. It was tiny. It was cooked and tasted very nice as were the chips and one mushroom and tomato. My husband had belly pork which was very tasty but no crackling. Starters and puddings were fairly standard. The wine list was good but very expensive. What ruined it for us was the noise from a large party of men in the smaller restaurant, so bad we and the couple on the table next to us asked to be moved. The staff were very apologetic and did move us but it was a case of out of the frying pan into the fire as we were seated next to the bar area which again was full of noisy groups. To be fair it was our poor choice and I'm sure many people would be OK but we found it very uncomfortable and far from enjoying a nice relaxing meal with beautiful views, we ate up and went back to the room as soon as we could.

If you're at Wyboston Lakes doing some training and feel peckish, take the effort to jump in the car and drive in the opposite direction. I hear there are nice restaurants in town to have dinner, don't be lazy and go to the Willows restaurant at Wyboston Lakes. I ordered chicken wings to start and a burger extra hash brown with sweet potato fries to follow. I then received a tables worth of food at the same time. Slightly embarrassing when the server then asks is this all for you? Yes. Yes it is. Apparently I have taken up competitive eating. Stop being so spoilt! Look at all that lovely food! The chicken wings sound amazing on the menu, maple and lime glaze with a sweet chilli dip. At £5.50 I'm sure they are gonna be decent. They aren't. If you have ever bought generic BBQ style chicken wings from your local Tesco and microwaved them at 4 in the morning consider applying to Wyboston for their head chef position. Slightly cold and funky in taste, not in a good way, I could picture them sliding out of the clear packing they came in and into the microwave for 3:50 minutes. Having worked in restaurants and pubs I had a sneaking suspicion that should I complain it wouldn't be the chef's fault. To be fair the burger was ok but it was a bit strange recieving a bowl of hash browns (which I now had a sneaking suspicion were from the mornings buffet) and an extra bowl of sweet potato fries. Turns out I was charged for an additional bowl of sp fries. Mistakes happen I guess, mamma always told me life was like bowl sweet potato fries but she has an eating disorders so it's probably not relevant. Anyway, back to the rancid meat of the story, I complained and on the servers return it wasn't the chefs fault and the server wasn't taking sides on this one. To be fair to my server he tried to accommodate me. I did get a free coke out of it which I then took back to my room. That showed em! Looking at the positives I got the free drink, the meal had cost £21.40. I hadn't been able to afford to get a drink and such a high quality meal. So that was nice.

Glad I didn't get put off by the recent reviews. Booked this restaurant as we stayed here two nights and nearly cancelled after reading the recent reviews. Thankfully we decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely table over looking the lake, it was our anniversary and the waiters/waitresses put a banner on our table, which was thoughtful. The food was tasty and the main course I chose was delicious. When our desserts came, the chef had spelt out 'happy anniversary' in chocolate sauce, which was sweet...literally ! I agree with previous reviews, that the service can be a tad slow. But it the grand scheme of things, we was very happy,

From the hotel reception through to the waitress the attitude and service was cold, indifferent, and something out of another era. The food was also shocking, the salmon madras on a soggy potato rosti was bland and my pasta had a soggy garlic bread stuck in the top. Soggy seams to be a theme here - it must be the waterside setting. The sticky toffee pudding was bought-in, dry and inedible. Getting service from the vacant waiter was a challenge.

Went tonight for a birthday get together with friends. Have been for drinks and visited the spa before but not been for dinner. The menu is quite limited and seemed expensive. We were told the specials. I chose the special of sausage and mash. It was exactly that. Sausage and mash with onion gravy. The food was lovely but I thought it was odd there were not any vegetables with the dish! We didn’t have pudding as at almost £8 for the cheesecake we felt it was very expensive. Great setting, great staff but the menu was limited and expensive.

If you like a long wait this is the pace to come.

We called in for lunch, on passing, on our way home from a trip to Cambridge. We were seated and our order was taken quite quickly by a young lady who didn't smile and didn't seem too happy to be there. Also, for someone serving food, under her nails were very dirty, a no, no really. We ordered 2 sandwiches, with fries as a side order. The drinks came quickly, but we waited a further 45 minutes for the food to arrive. This was thrown down as the server left. Didn't ask if we require ketchup for fries or anything else like that. The food itself was basic, for £8.50 the sandwich was no more special than I could have made at home. The beef was not home cooked, more like something you would buy in bulk from Costco, and it was just thrown on the plate. The fries were over cooked and just shattered when you tried to eat them. As for the place itself. The restaurant is very dark and the table was dirty and sticky. There was a group of golfers in there who were just constantly swearing and although this nothing to do with the restaurant, there were families in there with very young children so perhaps they should just have said something, as I found it quite offensive some of the words they were using. All in all, I would not go here nor would I recommend it to anyone. My advice, stop somewhere else.

I just came to write a review and saw my last review in 2014. Not my choice to be here this time round, it was a family event. The food itself was quite nice, however price vs portion size equals really bad value for money, as do the drinks prices. £7 for a glass of red that can be bought by the bottle for the same price in the supermarket? But for me it was the poor service that let the proceedings down. Dont get me wrong, the staff on duty were very attentive and did their best, there just wasn't enough of them

This place is lovely, really nice place to chillout have a few drinks and a bite to eat. Summer months with the terrace are great.

The food is either bar food or steaks. There is a limited choice. It is quite expensive for the quality. We had 1 bottle of house white, a main each and a pudding each (2 people) and it came to £65 which I thought was quite expensive.

We visited Waterfront Restaurant and Bar as part of our stay at the hotel, with our stay we got a 3 course evening meal the choice was from all of the normal menu with some extra costs if you wanted anything from the grill. We both had the soup to start which was fantastic, then my wife had the Burger and I had a Chicken Rigatoni which again was fantastic, we then both had the Chocolate Brownie for pudding, the food was truly brilliant and even if we had to pay was value for money.

3 courses with a G n T and a glass of wine each cost over £80 for 2, £90 with tip. Very pricey for pasta with chicken (me) and pork belly (husband) for our main courses! Food distinctly average, as was the service. Tired looking restaurant in need of a refurb.

My husband and I had spent the afternoon in the spa, had dinner in this restaurant and then stopped over in the hotel. Most people sat on the tables near ours were on work trips and so it was slightly less relaxing and more formal than I had expected.

Disappointed. Says it all really.

Being vegan went for the risotto and asked for no wine to be added which the chef kindly obliged. It was the best risotto I’ve tasted, basket of bread nice and warm, cauliflower soup was hot and lovely. Very attentive and flexible, thank you

Afternoon tea on arrival and Breakfast provided by efficient and courteous staff. Food to a high standard in this restaurant with wonderful views overlooking the lakes.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch. Reasonable choice on the lunch menu. We ordered at the bar and took our seats. The food, which was a burger and a wrap took over 40 minutes to arrive. The server, who appeared to be a manager, kind of dumped the plates on the table without saying much or even giving a smile. We both noted to one another he didn’t look very happy.

We booked this hotel between Xmas and New Year 2016 for a family get together. On top of booking different rooms, we booked the dinner at their restaurant for 16 people. First they asked us for an extra £100.- for booking an absolutely non-attractive and windowless room in the center of the restaurant. Then the food was brought all together (starter, main and desert !!) on an awful buffet and was long cold before we finished. The presentation was absolutely without any effort and repusilve (see picture !). The food was soooo basic. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT ! On top of that, when we complained, we had a pretty bad reaction...

Went here for brunch with some friends, the place was dead so we were sat very quickly and the waiter took our drink orders. First we were given tea with no milk so had to go up and ask for it. Then the others arrived and we were left for 20 minutes before we had to go up and ask for menus. One meal arrived 10 minutes before the others so they were almost done before we'd started. We weren't given any butter for toast so had to go up a third time to ask. One breakfast was supposed to come with fried bread (said on the menu) but arrived with toast - when the waiter was asked about this he said 'we've run out of fried bread.....' really?! I think we felt like we were just being fobbed off and when you pay £2.75 for a tiny glass of orange juice and £2.50 for a cup of tea, you expect a little more. Wont' be going back.

Had a full spa day which included lunch in the restaurant.

The bar element to this is quite nice. And if light the views of the lake are good.

I come here regularly to do work. When I go to the bar there are congregations of staff (often with managers) who are chatting/gossiping. Only one person is serving behind the bar and it is quite busy there sometimes. I am left waiting ages to get served when another member of staff (the manager!) could serve me. Hardly the service you expect when a pint is £5!!!

Sunday lunch for four. Limited menu, but that's ok, and what was on the menu was appetising. The food itself was good and well presented. Plenty of staff, rather inexperienced, they tend to stand around gossiping rather than serve the customers.
