Waterfall Cafe & Ice Creams in Sedgemoor

Food was good. Not amazing, but alright. Menu quite limited, especially on the pasty front, but not terrible. The interior feels like an old run-down fish and chips shop that pensioners go to and swear by. And apparently the pasty needs more seasoning but they aren't homemade so that's quite an unreasonable review complaint. Nice to sit by the water.

We visited on a quiet day, so we didn’t have to wait too long but the lad serving us either didn’t know what he was doing or just didn’t want to be there! Nice enough but just no enthusiasm at all! The lad who brought the food out was nicer though! The food itself is very basic bog standard cafe grub but more than edible! Good prices considering the location! There is a very friendly robin that hangs around the garden seating, so keep an eye out!

Worst experience. Especially an old man in the counter. Extremely racist. He treated me very differently from others. I ordered something and he given me something else. When i questioned it he asked me pay more on top of what i paid. I shown him the menu when i ordered the food. Later when i was asked to pay this man given me a higher price than his colleague said. Returned the food happily. 🤨

Lovely breakfast, clean and fast service. 5 adults, 4 kids. No toilets but as we had a toddler, the waiter let us use the staff toilet. We will return

Stopped here for ice cream after a long day taking in the sights and experiences. Ice cream was lovely and refreshing.

The reason for this review being one star is the toilets just over from this cafe. They were the most disgusting I ever had the misfortune of experiencing. Both blocked/ broken with the most rancid smell imaginable and to top it off sinks that do not work. For a paid tourist spot which is always popular standards need to be improved .

Drove from South Wales to visit the caves for the day. We started our day with a full breakfast here. It was exactly what we were looking for. Food was freshly cooked & served hot, bacon was thick and tasty. It's a simple cafe, with no fuss. Plenty of tables inside & outside. Which were kept clean by the hard working friendly lady who didn't stop. Lucky find for us.

Went here for lunch. I had egg chips sausages and beans. £7.95, Good value of money. So nice, will defo come back

Don't come here if you are a celiac or have a gluten intolerance, the gentleman who served me (the owner I think) didn't know what gluten free was and rolled his eyes when I asked for a gluten free breakfast, I asked if the sausages contained wheat and again he rolled his eyes and said he didn't know. I found this quite funny, it was a bit like being served by Basil Fawlty.😂 I'm sure he's a nice gent but not that great front of house, time to hang up his apron I think. If you don't have any food intolerances or aren't a vegan or vegetarian then do come here, the breakfast looked quite good. 🙂

Visited here last weekend my husband & I had a full English breakfast...it was delicious well worth £7.90 we sat in the outside seating area which was idyllic perfect setting would 100% visit again!

Wow just had my best ever cheese and onion toastie here 😋. Was stuffed with onion and oodles of cheese 🧀 Good value for money.

Would be 0. Awful food and worse service. Chicken nuggets like rocks and chips from the sewers!

Top tier cream teas, food was lovely too! Staff very friendly and welcoming atmosphere! Would definitely come again. Cheers guys!

Expensive for what you get. Reformed Chicken (McDonald's) burger... Great location though! Waiter service is not great as in they'll happily leave a pile of dirty dishes on your table while you eat. Actually they walked past my table twice... hence the review. Room for improvement.

Lovely coffee, 2 shots without asking. Very nice people run this cafe and I'd say they give 100% of the effort into making things work well. Great job, I'll be back.

Food was cheap quality and not very nice, the sauces taste horrible the mayo is liquid and tasted rancid, the ketchup tasted artificial, their toilets smelled horrible and the sinks in the men's didn't even work, the portions were quite small too and for what it offers it's overpriced and left me very disappointed

Beautiful caffe/Restaurant very friendly staff. A lovely position at the bottom of Cheddar. A very comprehensive menu lovely full English.

Very nice cafe away from the main drag with fantastic food, atmosphere, staff and scenery from the windows of a quaint waterfall. Very responsible pricing, great cuppa! The go to if I ever go to cheddar.

On first visit I had a bacon sandwich and cappuccino which was decent enough and reasonably priced. I returned later for a bottle of pop after a climb up Jacobs ladder to be told they weren’t accepting card at this time. Luckily I had cash.

6 of us came up from Devon on our motorbikes on a ride out, parking abit tight as loads of other. Bikes parked but we managed. Food was good and we were made welcome and were not rushed to eat and go. Would we come again? Big Fat Yes.👍

Over priced food, poor service and very grubby with no toilets on site having to use the public ones near by, not handy when by the time you’ve sat in your seated area they’ll need another wash

Popped in for lunch. I asked the man behind the ice cream and chip counter if he sold fish when he rudely shouted ‘NO” and walked away. I asked the young girl, behind the counter who that man was? and she said “he is the owner” what an, ignorant, rude and angry man, talking to customers like this. It’s only when you look around you see signs everywhere from “don’t ask for change for car park don’t do this, and don’t do that. What a sad man. After we left we went around front where he was once again being rude to customers buying ice cream at £2.80 for a tablespoon of Ice cream in the smallest cones money would buy. Two bikers were laughing at just how small they were. Rip off. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Visited Cheddar Gorge with the family. Thought we’d pop in for a drink before we continue exploring. Disappointed that they don’t serve sausage baps but they do bacon - I mean that’s strange in my opinion. And I know they have a captive audience but I believe they’re over priced.

The food and the tea was lovely. The price of bottled drinks and cans were pretty pricey but other than that. Lovely

Popped in for a bite to eat,enjoyable food,we had a pastie and a bowl of chips and sat outside in the warm sunshine,when we visited chedder,really nice and clean

We had a good value afternoon tea, coffee and ice-creams here. There is a very pleasant outdoor seating area, with the noise of rushing water and nature all around. They had scooped dairy ice-cream as well as the usual Magnum etc fare.

Best espresso coffee I have had in this type of cafe. WIth espresso there is nowhere to hide if the coffee is poor quality or badly prepared (ie burnt). The gentleman who served us was very friendly and the coffees were very reasonably priced.

We stopped for a cream tea en route from the top of Jacobs ladder yesterday, the young lady serving was lovely, checking if our tea was strong enough as she poured it! And the scones were warm they were that fresh! Tables were being cleared regularly, was busy but It didn't affect service. Really pleased with it and will be back next visit.

No words to say how bad the experience was! Rude people, very little and expensive choice of food( just steak pastry and chips, very sad looking sandwiches ) .We waited over 20 minute for some chips, which came extremely salted! The attitude of staff and manager absolutely arrogant, not welcoming and rude.They didn't wear a mask or gloves. People sitting inside and no chance to maintain social distance while queuing. Avoid if you don't want to ruin your day!Plenty of other nice places if you go just a little further ahead into town.

This cafe clearly is only interested in catering for the passing tourist, not repeat customers, as once youve been once you are likely to never return, The coffee is like brown water The service is slow, ordered 3 lots of chips, with pasties, two arrived after 10 minutes thwn took another 10 minutes for the 3rd. Food is passable but not of any real quality,

Way overpriced, pasty and chips twice, bottle of diet Pepsi and a bottle of orange juice came to a grand total of £18.00. If you visit cheddar take your own food or eat elsewhere. Seems these people are taking the piss and well overcharging now visitors are allowed at the gorge. Dont eat there and put these vultures out of business.

Great food and drink at a great price

Had a meal after walking from Velvet bottom needed sustenance for uphill walk back. Food was good but coffee was tasteless and luc-warm.

Nothing really to say, got some water bottles and left.

Possibly the worst cream tea I have ever had

Overpriced!!! Food ok-ish, can't say is bad, but for what you pay you would expect someting much better, not to mentiont the waiting waiting time, which is looooooooooooong. The staff is nice.

It's was OK. I had the Chicken and Mushroom pie. My wife the Cornish pasties. Staff were a little unfriendly. My wife suffered with diorea next day.

Pleasant to sit in the garden with a drink and ice-cream after a lovely walk from velvet bottom. Just got to walk back up now 😄

Enjoyed our lunch here, all day breakfast and a jacket spud. Both good portions and very tasty. Service in good time and pleasant. No complaints here.

Fantastic stop for bikers good coffee and food

Ordered a cream tea, by the time the scones came out, we had waited over 30 minutes, drunk our hot drinks and were bored of waiting!! Waiter lied and said he had come out 20 minutes earlier, yet the scones were still warm when he brought them out, not good service and no apology. This has ruined my life!!

After spending £20 on some greasy fish and chips, I asked the man who I presumed was the owner serving behind the counter if he could fill up my water bottle with tap water and he said no. He couldn't fit my water bottle underneath the tap... I asked if he could fill it up using another tap and he refused to do it saying that I would have to buy a bottle of water. I explained to him that by law he has to offer tap water upon request and he still refused to fill up my bottle. I went over to the other side of the counter and asked the person there if she could fill up my bottle and he came over and told her not to do it. I then asked the lady working on the ice cream section where else I could fill up the bottle and she mentioned cafe down the road, which we went to and they filled it up, no questions asked. He was very rude and I would avoid going there.

Avoid!!!! If I could give -1 🌟, trust me I would. So many things are wrong with this place. When we walked in it was hard to find a table without dirty dishes on top of it. Dispite it was a quite afternoon, only two tables occupied with actual guests, both eating they lunch. Dicided to order a coffee, a hot chocolate and two cheese and onion toasted sandwiches. I walked up to the counter to place my order, where I was very rudely informed they do not serve food any longer for the day, let me just say a family walked in just after we sat down, and they have ordered food just right in front of me! I was waaaay too tired by now to kick up a fight , I asked for bag of chips , nope I could choose one of a few ill looking cakes or a scone.(no where on the menu it states they don't serve any food after a certain time) Well we have picked the scone hoping it will be better looking. Ohhh we were so wrong! I just don't know why we have still sat here and experimented??? So these scones where like a tesco value make your own mix bake im two minutes boxed stuff. Thank god there was some icing sugar on top for decoration at least we tasted something! The clotted cream was probably reused from the tables, it had some scone pieces inside already.... And all this had cost over £11... Shame! Wish I have read googles reviews before I entered.

No frills, unhealthy (no veg in sight except baked beans)English food; pies, cooked breakfast etc. Fine, not greasy food served with a smile. Gave us the energy to climb Jacob's Ladder (literally across the road from the cafe). We might have enjoyed sitting outside to eat on this unseasonally warm October day but this had unfortunately become the smoking zone.

just got charged a fee, 50p for use of my debit card, funnily enough it didn't show on my receipt, I enquired as to why the fee was missing from the receipt and was told they add it after!!! Pure rip off and profiteering

This place is so overpriced and doesn't detail the fact that you have to pay extra to eat in. A terrible, dry cod and a shockingly small amount of chips came to around £10 and the customer service was less than satisfactory. As for the building itself it reminded me of my dead grandmothers outside toilet, sticky floors and questionable smells.

Very poor quality. We ordered fishcake and chips, it took over 20 minutes to arrive. This was not at a busy period either. The chips were bought in frozen type of very poor quality, we didn't finish the food. I definitely would not recommend this cafe to you. I'm not overly fussy but it's annoying when poor food is combined with terrible service, it makes you feel that they're just ripping tourists off.

I could sum it up in one word 'Disgusting' but I won't as so many things annoyed me, Hope you don't want to pay by card! £10 minimum spend. Now I understand banks charge a very small fee per transaction, but that goes for other shop who only have a £5 min spend. it's just a p*ss take to get you to spend more money, praying on the tourists. This fish was just about edible, but the biggest joke is the portion size of chips, it's almost comical. For large you get about 15 chips and about 10 for a normal portion size. Look I understand it's a tourist destination but you can only take the p*ss for so long. if the owner is reading this, please visit a chip shop and ask for a large portion of chips. Also a few bins around the garden area would be handy. take note ,drive out of the gorge and visit a restaurant that wont cost the earth, must add the fish was rank.

One of my worst experiences, we just wanted a pasty and a drink for lunch. Yes it was a busy day, but that is no excuse. Went in the shop and the party's where sitting waiting and ready in a fish and chips style counter, so we queue up to buy our pasty and drink, got to the counter, the guy took our money and gave us a order number, as he told us that they don't do take Away so he couldn't just walk to the counter and pick up the pasty and give it to us , totally astonished by this we sat down to wait for our pasty. It took 25 minutes to serve what was already ready, and when question this, we where told "I only have the two hands that God gave me" :-(
