Tooooo small.... suffocatingly smaaalllllllllll!!!!

Great place ,we went in for a quick drink on Friday after being at makars ,we'll definitely be back for more drink in April once we've been to makars again 😀

It felt like being abroad while I was in there. The white ceilings and bright colours make a break from the dingy mood lighting normally found in a pub or bar in Edinburgh. There was warmth, salsa dancing, a lovely barman, the Blues Brothers on TV, and sand between my beautiful toes.

A solid local, the owner is usually working which gives it a really familliar feel. Reminds me of the small town pubs I used to go to but most people are from out of town or abroad. Still, a lot of them go there regularly and have done for years so it's a real community of sorts. A real gem if you want an authetic bar in tourist town.

Typischer schottischer Pub mit sehr gemischtem Publikum. Wir haben über der Wash Bar für eine Woche im Herzen Edingburghs gewohnt und waren öfter da zum Frühstücken. Typisches Scotish Breakfast oder ein Continental. Alles zu bekommen. Mike der Wirt ist ein super Typ und wir haben heute, Jahre nach unserem Aufenthalt immer noch Kontakt.

Used to love this bar, now it's good to alright. Used to serve Joker IPA now just Neck Oil, shame. They used to have an amazing food menu but last few times I've been in, nothing but snacks ( crisps etc) - again, real shame.

If you're looking for a quaint and quirky pub with a range of drinks, this isn't it. It's not the typical pub you'd expect in the heart of Edinburgh, but more like one you would find in a small rundown town (like the one I'm from). Having said all that, the alcohol was pretty cheap for Edinburgh and the staff seemed nice enough too! I wouldn't not come back here but it wouldn't be my first choice either.

Staple stopping off place during the festival. Chilling on the mound watching the festival happen is an Edinburgh staple and Washbar is the ideal spot.

It's a nice friendly bar. For a bar it the centre of town, it appears to cater for locals. It just looks like a new round of decor would do it a favour

Best pub in Edinburgh. We met the landlord and owner and we were made so welcome that going back is a definite. The atmosphere was Electric. 20/10

A nice place for some coffee but incredibly expensive. I believe that it was a really good and hot cup of coffee. It was piping hot and not badly made! Really good flavours were combined and created a nice and flowy drink which I really liked. I took the cappuccino which was really good.

Nice after dinner bar. Good view sitting out and looking down over Princes street and the gardens. We chilled out inside. £5 per drink - Average to low city prices.

Normal pub in Edinburgh, nothing special happening. Good if you want to get away from the noisy crowd and enjoy a drink with perfect music volume, not loud.

Had a lovely day at The City Cafe, lovely food and, staff were great, pool table placed to the back of the cafe bar.

Amazing pub lovely man called Mike. Was so so friendly and welcoming we stayed longer then we intended to will be back he's doing absolutely amazing job always smiling too ❤️..even played songs by beatles and dave mathew's for my partner thanks Mike your a legend!

Amazing place with great prices. We came in on a Wednesday evening looking for a drink and we’re primarily the only customers which was surprising as the bartender/owner, Mike, was extremely friendly and talkative with us. Being a fellow bartender, we had a lot to talk about. The bar has some of the best prices we’ve encountered in Edinburgh and a great environment. I especially like that the upstairs area including the full bar is available for private parties.

Was in and, for an hour were the only folk in the place - other places we were in had customers in. Beer tasted off and it was vastly over priced. Looks like it was decorated in the 90s and not touched since, including the kitsch fish tank halfway up the stairs with water in it darker than a Guinness. We only went in here to tick it off the list of pubs we'd been to in Edinburgh, but it was genuinely awful in every sense. Please, if you are a tourist or someone looking for a place to drink, don't go in here. It's really not worth it

Staff are nice and there is a good range but it can get very busy.

Always a warm welcome from owner, Mikey & his staff. Lively pub with outdoor seating (brilliant during the festival to soak up the view and the vibes) and upstairs space available to hire for private parties. If you're new to Scotland, try the Bucky Bomb!

We have been to the Edinburgh Tattoo twice now and both times we have visited the Wash Bar for our pre show drinks. Sat at the base of the castle the view over the city is breathtaking. Nice comfortable atmosphere in the bar,with lovely staff we will definitely visit again

Is it the fanciest bar or pub in the area? No. But it's not trying to be. It is however a good place to grab a decent pint with a group of friends as part of a night out. Always a lively atmosphere.

Maybe a change of ownership but very poor. Poor selection of beer at £5.60 a pint and no cocktails, when a barman says ‘What’s an ‘old fashioned’, one should walk out. Zero atmosphere and rude waiting staff

One of the best places to enjoy the Edinburgh sunset and the beer/food prices are still reasonable after Covid-19

Great place! Wonderful view from the outside sits, good prices and great Scottish Lager. Very friendly staff ! I will definitely come back next time I'm in Scotland!

Spotted this place when trying to find our accommodation and got such a friendly welcome we went back every day for a drink. Landlord was really friendly and they played great music too. Highly recommended. Thank you so much for welcoming us. We will definitely come back if we visit Edinburgh again.

No food on offer this time , been coming every edinburgh visit for years as a wee gem for great food , great portions and VFM. Hope this is only temporary

In Edinburgh for a hen weekend . We stumbled across The Wash Bar by accident. Glad we did . It was the best bar we visited all weekend. Staff were so friendly and approachable. Food was every bit as good as the drinks 😉 If you visit and your getting a bite to eat you must try Frickles . Surprisingly delicious. Will definitely visit this bar again . A big thumbs up from us hens

Nice location and very friendly service, but one member of staff was clearly drunk at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, he nearly knocked me over as I was carrying drinks and later was very close to crash into our table.

Me and my wife popped in for a few drinks on a Friday evening. My wife was cold and the amazing staff had spotted that she was cold and provided her with a lovley fleece blanket. The table service was quick and good music was played. Would definitely recommend. Lovely staff, many thanks

Visited with friends after a long time out of the social scene due to Covid restrictions we booked a table on arrival mid afternoon the place was virtually empty not like the wash bar ordered a round of drinks to our surprise see bar tab attached £21.90 when I questioned the bill i was told by the barman laughing it's the sign of the times and there's more to come standing behind us at the bar trying to force another round of drinks in front of us at any chance we drank up and left out for a relaxing afternoon and felt pressured and ripped off all for supporting local businesses but £2.20 for a dash of lemonade really!🙄😡 will be supporting someone else's business next time! Sorry Wash Bar won't be back!

Visited here while having a couple of days away, the staff are prompt in attending to you at the door and ensuring all covid regulations are met. They are all friendly, helpful, and happy to chat and have the banter. The owner was on site, but not just as a presence, working as one of his team, just how it should be! Can't wait until all this covid is over with so that we can return and experience The Wash at it's full potential! The only fault I have is that I took my car, and it never got washed!! 🤣🤣 Joking aside, 100% recommended The Wash!

Great pub. During these hard times dont waste their time sipping a coke. Drink beer, eat some of the great new food menu. The industry is struggling, try to help it out by spending money.

Recently visited the Wash bar and had a great night.Although it was table service only there was still a great atmosphere, but at the same time everyone was socially distancing and consequently it felt very safe. Service was quick and friendly, and there was a good choice of beers. Not expensive. A really nice mix of people. Would highly recommend

It's important to have businesses like this still operating and the guys are doing it well. Clear signage and instructions, table service and a decent pint. Looking forward to the next visit. Keep up the good work.

Great venue with a buzzing atmosphere but at the same time felt very safe. We had a lovely booth and there was lots of space between tables. All precautions such as track and trace in operation. Extremely quick, effective and friendly table service from Nate. Thanks for a great night guys!

We had 2 really great nights in here over the weekend. We all felt very safe with virus precautions in place. All the staff & Locals were great & we were made to feel at home from the off. SPECIAL Thanks to Nate, you took care of us all, even with the face mask on we could tell by your eyes you were smiling. Very professional, diligent & hard working. Thank you.

Thanks to Nate - the bar tender doing table service post-lockdown, we had a couple of good nights here as a group of friends visiting the city. Great location just down from the Royal Mike. Nice atmosphere and Nate was friendly and attentive. I hope they will continue table service, post restriction, as it really works here. As a previous review mentions, the social distancing measures were unclear - tables weren’t particularly far apart and I got the impression this bar has a number of regulars, as there was lots of hugging/kissing/hand shaking going on as customers recognised each other.
