Terrible place - only place to eat for a family. Very little choice, expensive, bad food and bad coffee Terrible service. Refuse to give you coffee in proper cup even though they have stacks of them, because ‘we don’t wash them’. So masses of plastic it is then. Long queue and slow service to top off the experience.

This is a review for the restaurant. Could not find a location for the restaurant on trip advisor. We stayed in the newly opened Warwick Castle Hotel, this was great. We had food at the restaurant after booking a table but we're not allowed in 15 minutes early but had to wait until our alloted time, not a problem. The menu was a fixed set meal, wasn't aware of this in advance but would have been nice to have another option as there were 8 of us. Our table was to the left when you walk in. The lighting was very dim, obviously adding mood for the candle look. However, our side was particularly dark. You could not see you food. I asked the server if extra light could be put on. There were other lights not on but I was told nothing could be done. I mentioned that the lights on the other side added enough light but there were none similar on our side, something they should consider installing. The bill came to over £200. I wad asked if I would like to tip my server, I thought this was a little cheeky as it was a self serve buffet! The server just took our drinks order and cleared our plates, only at the end when many plates had built up. Consequently, no tip was given. Upon leaving, saw another food outlet in the knights village. Wasn't aware of this but we might have sacrificed the restaurant for this instead and sat by the river. Breakfast was good; however, way too many people. I think they are building a new restaurant to accommodate to the extra people from the hotel.

How this place can charge £100 for a family of four with a drink is absolutely criminal. I booked this because I thought it was part of the experience of the Knights Village and the sole food option. The place was empty, there was no entertainment. Starters consisted of bread rolls, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes and lettuce. Main courses consisted of gammon or chicken with potatoes, broccoli, carrots and Yorkshire puddings. Kids food was chicken nuggets, fish fingers, pasta, beans and hash browns. My kids have had better school dinners for £2.35. All of it looked like it had been sat there all night and very unappetising. At times the pudding counter was completely empty, but when there was some it was jelly, chocolate moose and panacotta. Refillable soft drinks were £5. We did have a wander around the site after and found a food hut near the glamping tents and this would have been a much better option. For the price the people pay for the accommodation this food option was beyond poor.

Bad experience. Dry potatoes with no souce. One third of restaurant is closed with reservation signs, so you can buy food but you have to eat it standing. We were there for 45 minutes and nobody came to sit there. Really bad coffee in cups from Costa coffee. But not taste of Costa at all. Nobody is cleaning the tables.

Very few prices so customers just have to guess. We had a hot pork roll, it was lovely but no idea how much it was as we bought other things aswell. It’s the first place I have been where I have been refused some extra hot water with my cup of tea! There was no sugar or napkins, we just about found 2 wooden forks. It wasn’t particularly busy but none of the tables had been cleared and the floor was filthy.

This review is just for the knights village medieval Hall. The Medieval hall is decorated as you would expect in an impressive medieval theme which was nice and it is within the knights village itself and is used for dinner and breakfast. Dinner is not included in your nights stay package but breakfast is. Food is ordered per person but is delivered in a large skillet to your table where you help yourself. The food is ok-good. The price however is extortionate, 3 adults and 3 children cost us with drink £162! If dinner had come with an experience such as the waitresses and waiters in costume and if you were on long banquet tables drinking out of goblets, medieval music, costume, maybe even having the battle that was performed by the two nights outside during your meal, then you would expect to be paying that much for because it was good and an experience BUT simply getting food in a skillet, the room decoration it was nothing more than an ok dinner at very expensive prices. You are a captive audience so there isn’t really anywhere else to buy food unless you leave the site and head into Warwick. To summarise I wouldn’t mind paying those prices for a meal IF it came with more of an experience and you maybe received a gift such as a family photo during the meal and more ideas as per my suggestions above. I wouldn’t eat in the dining hall for dinner if we came again which is a shame. HOWEVER I would definitely recommend staying in the knights village. It was a fantastic stay.

We booked the knights’ village after friends had recommended a visit to the castle. After a great day in the castle we were able to book in at 4pm. We were greeted with a warm reception from the member of staff who was happy to answer our many questions, change our meal times and provided us with a quiz for our children to do around the site. Our lodge was furthest from reception but just s short walk on a decked path through a tranquil setting. The lodge itself was small, rustic and very clean. It consisted of a small double room with dressing table (with hairdryer) and a small single fitted wardrobe, perfect for storing our suitcase. The children’s room was small with a bunk bed and was decorated with knights wallpaper- very exciting for our children. The bathroom had a powerful, spacious shower, ample towels and nice toiletries. The view from the lodge was stunning, we were not overlooked at all and could see the swans down on the water. We had booked to eat in the restaurant for the evening which was quaint with high ceilings. Some families had dressed for the evening in princess and knight outfits. The menu wasl varied with plenty of allergy / vegan options available. The prices were as one would expect in a tourist attraction, slightly inflated with alcoholic drinks being particularly expensive. Our food was reasonable but our starter arrived as we were finishing our main meals… What really did make our whole evening was the entertainment. We were treated to a show from Samuel and Jonathan who were nothing short of fantastic. They had all of the children learning how to be a knight using replica wooden swords, knighted all of the children and they then had a sword fight. Fun for both adults and children, ours were transfixed. Jonathan then left for the evening and Samuel gathered the children to tell them a story, the whole room listened and the children were engrossed. What could have been an average meal / evening was an evening of wonderful family fun thanks to Samuel and Jonathan.

We booked 4 lodges for 10 people for 2 nights. Their contracted out booking system leaves much to be desired, requiring 2 separate bookings initially. Changes proved to be impossible following several phone calls with circular referrals (very frustrating), unfulfilled promises of returned calls, inactive numbers and live chat that does not respond. We finally managed to get what we wanted, though this required 4 separate bookings. The lodges are very small (not even space for a chair) and very difficult to access from the car park, though the duty manager (Ed) was very helpful in this regard. They are also a long walk to the castle entrance. We had a problem with the toilet flush which was reported on the Saturday morning and twice again throughout the day but not resolved before checkout the following day. The on-site restaurant is a separate entity with a less than adequate management system. For example, a reservation provoked more that 30 texts sent through the night which were impossible to block on an iPhone. The service was slow and many items were unavailable, e.g. no red wine or vanilla ice cream among many. The reason offered was a changeover of supplier. The food itself was poor, a vegetable soup turned out to be a spicy, unidentifiable concoction served lukewarm with a piece of sliced bread and the prawn cocktail was inedible being over-spiced - the chef must really like chilli. In summary, the castle is well worth a visit but the Knights village is grossly overpriced (£2,300 for 10 people for 2 nights) and fails to get close to expectation. I would recommend staying at one of the many surrounding hotels which will provide much better value for money and could save you a lot of walking.

Difficult review to write as this place has so much potential but sadly is let down massively by cleanliness and facilities. We stayed in a kings tent which itself was lovely and the setting was perfect. But the tent was filthy. We dared look under the bed and there were mounds of dirt and dust. Layers of dirt and dust on the lamps/decor and flies caught in the ceiling fabric. The campsite bathrooms look like there were never cleaned. The bins over flowing on the floor, no hand soap and so many spiders and webs all around the toilet and ceiling. My 4 year old shouted in horror ‘mummy that’s disgusting’ when we look into the showers. All such a shame when the setting and the accommodation could have been perfect. As for the dinner. We were charge over £16 per head (even our 4 year old was charged the same) and the supposed medieval banquet was laughable. They charge you on entry to the restaurant, as not many would pay if they didn’t! The buffet was appalling. The salad cart unsanitary. Dessert section was pretty much empty (our reservation was for 6:30). My children couldn’t even get their teeth into the solid fish fingers and other that had clearly sat under the heat lamp for hours. I didn’t eat and my husband wish he hadn’t. After complaining we were refunded and told these complaints happen daily. The themed staff who entertained our children around the grounds were wonderful and really added to the theatrical experience of our stay and the try at archery was great fun. In conclusion, this place could have been 5* if it had appropriate facilities, was cleaned and had a restaurant with edible food. All such a shame. The castle itself was great and well worth a visit. Hope this review helps others.

For a start, reasonable price, easy to find and free parking for the whole time you’re there, including visits to castle. The theme is great and we stopped in a lodge, which i personally think was brilliant, clean, comfortable, good heating, with nice surroundings. Staff nice and entertainment great for kids. Sir Richard especially. The breakfast was included and good selection of hot and cold. The only reason it wasnt 5*, was the evening meal, which wasn’t included. We went at 530 sitting, and there was barely anything left so had to wait to replenish nearly everything. It was not worth waiting for, the tikka and bourginon especially had no taste & choice of desserts was dismal. The cheesecake i had was still frozen. Word of advice to location, just stick to a carvery type buffet, keep it simple and you cant go wrong. The crackling was good for example. Overall cant wait to go back, but probable eat dinner in the town

If you are planning a visit to Warwick Castle, stay in the Knights Village to significantly enhance your experience, especially if you are visiting with children. My husband and I, bother 50+ stayed in one of the lodges, but there is also a range of glamping options which oozed character and style. The Knights village is situated next to the Avon river, surrounded by beautiful trees and plenty of room to play and relax. Several families walked around chidren armed with their treasury maps to find the hidden treasure. We arrived back after earlier leaving our bags with reception until check in, only to hear that our bags were already in our lodge. It is the small things that really makes a big difference to make our stay one of the most memorable in years. Thanks to all the staff for a hearty welcome and willingness to help with every request or question we had. As a bonus- if you book directly through them, you also get free entry to the castle which would otherwise cost you £37 per adult on the day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and iate already planning our next visit. Five star experience indeed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had one nights stay at the knights village and was not disappointed. The lodge was cosy and fitting within the theme. We have 9 month old twins and a toddler and managed to just about fit the two travel cots in that was provided for us. Very clean and comfy.the reception staff are more than helpful. And the restaurant staff also go out of their way to make your stay more enjoyable. Loved seeing and princess Pearl and Zog reading to the children before tea. And the knights entertainment in the evening was brilliant. Worth every penny. And we will defo go back.

Visited in November 2021 stayed on a 2 night BandB deal and how lovely it was. Everyone we met was really helpful from the Ladies in Reception ,Restaurant Staff, housekeeping to the Guys in the Car Park area. Special mention of Jo in the Restaurant who was a one woman advertisement for the place - brilliant!!!!! Lodge very clean and tidy and ideal for just us two. One main room with a double bed and a smaller room with Bunk beds for 3 however we felt the Lodge would be a bit of a squash and a squeeze if full to capacity. Exceptional shower room although a tad on the small size but immaculately clean and piping hot water. Not many people staying given the time of the year - no Clampers or Campers - but that suited us perfectly. Not sure I would want to stay there during high season but we are lucky in that respect and can pick and choose with more freedom. Allocated parking really close to Reception area and easy access up a wooden ramp then via a similar series of wooden walkways to each of the Lodges. Beautiful grounds both on the Site and on the walk through to the Castle itself. Slightly up hill walk to the Castle that takes about 10 minutes from the Reception area but all on tarmac paths and not difficult to negotiate. As part of the deal we got one day entry to the Castle included in the cost. We visited the day after arriving and thought it was really worthwhile but saw all we wanted to see in that single visit. Castle had been decked out for Christmas which was really beautiful and they were just in the process of giving the grounds a festive makeover which I’m sure will be worth a visit on their own especially if you live nearby. Note of caution if you do the Ramparts Walk - only the young (at heart )and fairly fit should tackle it however it’s a great experience if you take it on. During the day you can access Warwick central via two points however in the evening that reduces to one which is a short but rather dark walk via the main entrance point. We both felt there could be a little more lighting in this area just for Security reasons. It takes around 15 minutes to walk from the Site into Warwick and it’s all uphill on the outward journey; you could drive it very quickly but possibly Parking in or around the main Town Centre could be an issue. There is an option to eat an evening meal on Site but few people seemed to do so and most like us went into Warwick where we found there was plenty of choice both for snacks and main meals. Would we go back - not sure although clearly there will be lots more to see during the summer months but maybe those events are targeted at a far younger audience so nothing really lost to us. On top of that I’m sure the whole place would be buzzing with guests snd day visitors and maybe a bit too hectic to appreciate the visit in the same way we did. Nevertheless we had a wonderful experience during our time in Warwick and would take this opportunity to say a huge thank you once again to everyone at the Knights Village who made that possible.

My husband and I arrived for a two night stay on Sunday 31oct.( around 12.30 lunchtime) We knew our accommodation would not be ready until at least 4pm so checked in at Reception then went to visit the castle ( as ticket included one days entrance ) I also pre bought another day for the Monday. We managed to go on the 1.30 pm talk about the history of the castle ( just waited outside the hall and guide came out). The falconers Quest was amazing. It was the last day in the year for this particular show as from November onwards a different show is done, where the falconer flys two or three birds and explains about them ( we attended this show on the Monday, and although informative, not a patch on the previous day) We also got a timed ticket for the upscares downstairs attraction.( the witches tower was already all booked ) Our ticket entitled us to go back in the eve, but unfortunately the weather was windy and rainy quite a bit of the day and eve, but we made the most of what was on offer( went in for another upscares downstairs, same but made a bit more frightening, age restricted to at least 12 yrs of age I think ) As for the accommodation, we found our lodge quite sweet, apart from having only two coat hangers in the small cupboard and also found two wasps . There was another two wasps the next morning. I was going to report but did not end up doing so. None on the morning we left. Would of been a nice touch to provide glasses or at least plastic or recycled ones for water. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk provided. Now for the less good review, The Restaurant! We pre booked a table for 7pm but ended up arriving at 6.40pm. We said we were happy to wait and have a drink if our table was not ready. No problem, we were told, not too busy that eve ( prob about 7 plus empty tables, although quite a few families in there ) We were told our waitress would be notified we had arrived. After 15 mins we were still sitting there waiting for someone to attend us. We could on,y see two girls all evening which we thought was insufficient for the amount of customers. In the end a girl did come over but we still ended up waiting for the drinks.( We ordered our meals at the same time as I thought it might be a long eve, and I was right!) My Husband’s soup arrived at around 7.30 pm, cold. By 7.55pm I asked the waitress if she knew how long our dinner would be as we had sat there for over an hour, she agreed this was sometime and then my Husband added, if the meal was not there in five minutes we were leaving. Another Girl then arrived from the kitchen with the Chef’s apologies and said that they would take half off of the final bill ( which they did) .The only saving grace was the Knights swords skills training for the children ( which we enjoyed watching whilst we waited) So all in all, we enjoyed the castle and its attractions. I feel the lodge was a little overpriced but quite quirky and I’m sure children would really enjoy.

First the positives, staff were unfailingly kind and helpful. The Knight school and 'black knight' story was excellent. Although basic the accommodation was fine and in line with expectations. However some real disappointments which negatively affected our stay: 1) The impression given was that the haunted castle went throughout half term. Several families arrived thinking this and the poor receptionists spent their evening delivering the bad news. We were sent an email on 4th October to confirm we had access. Cue excited dressed up kids. On the 15th we get an email saying actually it is not part of the package. Way to build-up and knock down excitement for kids! 2) There was no benefit at all in terms of access to the Castle. The path was closed to the castle and we had to queue up with those on day visits to get in. 3) Food provision was poor. No butter alternatives, run out of takeaway coffee cups, etc. It's a shame that what could have been a fantastic memorable family trip fell flat.

We stayed 2 nights in a lodge as a family of 4 in Aug 21. Other reports claim the accommodation was dirty but we did not find this to be the case, no issues with cleanliness. The only accommodation issue was the very creaky bed which was an annoyance rather than anything else. We have a coeliac daughter. Like others, much research was done prior and we were concerned about the food in the restaurant being suitable for her. Contrary to other reviews, we found the coeliac provisions very well catered for at dinner. Chefs were knowledgable and welcoming. Cross contamination did not appear to be an issue from what we saw but of course, you cannot legislate against other people using breaded tongs in non-breaded items. A bit of common sense like using your own cutlery to pick up items can get past this. Breakfast had gluten free cereals available and kitchen said they could do gluten free sausages on request if we wanted. Other reviews slam the knights village for their gluten free provision but we were very pleasantly surprised at the variety available. Perhaps they have taken on board previous feedback and changed things, so I hope this helps others. Yes the whole experience is expensive for what it is, but the kids got wrapped up on the theatre of it all and had a great time which is what we went for.
