WaraThai in Wiltshire

I visited with my wife, daughter and son-in-law for my daughter’s birthday. We were hoping for a nice meal and not a load of hassle! For starters my daughter ordered chicken satay, son-in-law soup and my wife and I pork belly. For mains I ordered a chicken Thai red curry, my wife a chicken stir fry and the other two beef stir fry. When my daughter’s chicken satay arrived she said she simply couldn’t eat it. I have never seen “chicken” like this. It was stringy, rubbery and wet….it was horrible. It seemed reconstituted and nothing like normal chicken. She complained to the waiter and what he said is not what any of us wanted to hear, not least me and my wife, we had both ordered chicken mains. He said that it was only 80% chicken and the rest water to make it tender and why it had that texture. Ugggghhhhh. He took it away and brought one cooked some more. My daughter said not really any better. Not surprisingly the chicken in my wife’s stir fry was the same as was my curry. We rejected both. My wife and I both opted for a beef stir fry replacement. The beef was tough and gristly. The chicken aside, the red curry itself was weird. I have had numerous Thai red curries all over the world. I think I’m right to expect coconut to be the prominent flavour? Nope it was tomatoey. All a bit surreal. Also I believe the drinks were overpriced. So never again and I would advise anyone thinking about taking a chance with the chicken….DON’T. Clearly all the ingredients are sourced as cheaply as possible. To the management NOT GOOD.

2 course lunch The best thai food we have had this side of Bangkok! After living in Brunei for 3 years..I thought I'd never get to taste authentic food like this again! Our first visit since change of ownership and rather disappointing. There was hardly any duck in my main course, which I mentioned to waiter, who seemed indifferent and rather preoccupied with things on his laptop. Such a shame as it used to be spot on.

Sadly I was a bit disappointed. Many of the other reviews were glowing. I expected something special. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was ok. But the price too high for a very average experience. I’m sure others have thoroughly enjoyed their visits but I left slightly disappointed.

Very dissapointing. We went on Valentine's night and we were looking forward to it very much. It started well. Prawn crackers delicious and starters enjoyed. Then it all went downhill. Mains arrived and unfortunately one order was wrong so had to be returned to the kitchen, which left one diner to eat alone until it returned. Partners stir-fry which seemed to consist mainly of great beans which were not 'al dente' just plainly undercooked and duck difficult to find! Massaman curry arrived ....beef was tough and i took it out of the dish put on side and ate some of the rest of the dish The staff were apologetic but it ruined our evening. We definitely won't be back.

We have been living locally for just under a year. The only Thai restaurants we have tried, have been further afield. One was in a pub & more recently we tried one in a nearby town. Neither lived up to expectations - despite good reviews. However... Wara Thai certainly DID live up to expectations. We have holidayed in Thailand 12 times & know a good meal when we have one. WaraThai is only a 5-10 minute drive from where we live, so decided to give it a try. The first thing we noticed was how clean & well laid out it was, plus we were warmly welcomed on arrival. Service was very good & the food was authentic, tasty & well presented. There is a good selection of beers and soft drinks. We dined early, so it was not too busy. It was nice that the friendly staff made time to speak with us. Particularly about our favourite holiday destination... Thailand. We are craving to go back to Thailand, but at least Wara Thai can satisfy those cravings foodwise, until we are lucky enough to return. We said "phb kạn mai" as we left the restaurant, which translates as "see you again". We certainly will!

My wife and I came here with our 7 year old son whilst staying at Bowood Golf & Spa Hotel nearby. The food was very tasty and authentic. My wife is vegan and has a gluten intolerance and initially they got her dish wrong but thankfully they alerted us about this and they fixed it very quickly, in the end her food was also good and tasty. We would be happy to eat here again.

Had lunch special here on Monday 18th December. Food was excellent,authentic and well presented.Great flavours and good portion size that was excellent value for money.We will be back very soon.i will highly recommed this Thai to my friends and i am sure it will soon establish a reputation for quality food and service that will make it a busy local destination.

Absolutely delicious food, we had a take away, freshly prepared. Had many Thai meals, this was the best by a long way. Lovely friendly staff too. Can't wait to go for a sit down meal

Sunday afternoon near to Xmas and we spontaneously decided to have a late afternoon lunch. We live very close by so have seen all the changes here overtime. As a Thai restaurant this is a real success !! The food is amazing!! All reasonably priced and lovely service. I tried the Thai wine on this occasion and it is really good too. We have booked for my husbands birthday as a family of 6 to show this place off to our family 😂 We will definitely be back 🙌🏼

This restaurant is truly a gem – an amazing place offering not only excellent food but also great service. I strongly recommend it to anyone in search of a delightful dining experience. The set lunch is not only great value but also a showcase of high-quality, delicious dishes. I can't wait to return!

Some of the dishes seemed quite good but others were too anglised. Also. prawn toasts so thick they were doughy and unappealing.

I came here for lunch with my family and was blown away by how amazing all the food tasted. The spring rolls were the nicest spring rolls I have ever tasted. The staff were all so warm and friendly. I would definitely recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone who wants to try authentic Thai food.
