Wamimichi Noodle Bar in Luton

Today, my friend and I popped into a restaurant we used to frequent, and I have to say, it was a letdown. We have been regular, though I have not gone as much recently. However, this time, I could not help but feel things had gone downhill. The staff’s attitude left much to be desired, and the drinks were subpar. When we walked in, a staff member curtly told us to sit down and turned his back on us. Suddenly, he tossed the menu onto the table and immediately began pressing us to place our order, not even giving us a moment to settle. As we started ordering, he completely ignored us when we mentioned we were regulars, prattling on with whatever he wanted to say. When we were finally ready, he stood there, visibly impatient. The moment we paused to think, he walked off! I have never encountered a server in the UK so impatient — it felt like he could not be bothered. We ordered starters and mains, but he did not even ask if we wanted them served separately or together. As a result, the mains arrived first, with the starters following much later. To top it off, when the food arrived, there was no cutlery. We asked, and he dismissively told us to fetch it ourselves, his disdain making us feel more like prisoners being scolded by a guard than customers in a restaurant. Throughout our meal, he kept trying to sell us other products. We mentioned that we had bought what we wanted not long ago, but he seemed intent on pushing more. As we ate, there was still over half an hour until closing, so my friend ordered a ready-made dessert. He grudgingly took the order, but it did not arrive until just ten minutes before closing. My friend barely had five minutes to finish it before he came over and ordered us to leave because they were closing up. In addition, just five minutes before closing, other customers walked in to order food. He told them they could not dine in but could order to go and then loudly grumbled about how it would keep him from finishing up. While he did not say it in English, every dine-in customer who understood Cantonese got it, which felt unprofessional. It got even more ridiculous when it came time to settle the bill. He did not ask if we wanted to split it or if we were members, so we had to bring it up ourselves. And once again, he barely listened to us, just plonked the bill down, leaving us to figure it out ourselves. This place was known for its welcoming service back in the day. The staff would always ask for our feedback, be warm and friendly, and encourage customers, including us, to return. They always asked if we were happy with the food and if we needed to split the bill, and they never pushed additional items on us. We often returned because they made us feel relaxed and valued, explaining the menu and genuinely asking about our experience with the food. The food quality used to be a real treat—they put proper effort into maintaining authentic Hong Kong and South east Asian flavours. But today, it was a real let-down, especially the iced lemon tea, which bizarrely appeared to have milk added, giving it a colour more like chocolate milk than tea! In the past, I felt this place brought together the best of Hong Kong hospitality with UK dining culture, a combination I genuinely enjoyed. But now, it has all gone a bit pear-shaped. The service and quality have dropped, leaving me wondering if I will bother returning.

An excellent place for chinese/ Japanese food. Good value, great service given. The restaurant was full of chinese/ Japanese customers so you can tell it is a great restaurant. Food came out quickly and was delicious to eat. Prices were good too. I have been and will go again to this restaurant. Service was excellent and staff recognised you when you walked in.

The noodles tasted like spaghetti not authentic ramen but the broth was delicious . Overall experience was good. Nice atmosphere.

Hair in the soup!! Absolutely disgusting 🤮 I ordered for collection and got hair in the soup. Called them and they wanted me to come back to get new so causally. With that taste, no thanks. Disgusting.

Its probably the best Hong-Kong, Singapore n Malaysia style Chinese food restourant around Luton. Really enjoyed the bihun singapore and Hor Fun. Nice balance and near to authentic taste. I would surely return soon to sample more of the menu.

Arrived at collection time to be told they hadn't got my order from their website, they then printed it out and I waited 20+ mins for food. Food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary.

Nice food for good prices. Not a lot of tables, but good value for money

It smells of sewage. This appears to be an ongoing issue. It's not too unpleasant when you get used to it. To be fair, it's Luton - it's positively luxurious. Food was tasty and quick but despite being served big portions I was still really hungry. Had to eat a second dinner in the end. The decor and ambience was standard, a bit 'Tenko' (older folks will know what I mean).

Awful service!!!! Took an hour longer to deliver than they quoted and was told the website gave the wrong time and not to order through them …. Ridiculous

Me and my brother drove there, when we walked in it STUNK of sewage & drains. It was awful. We sat down & got given menu’s and we couldn’t stop laughing because the smell was so awful…… the food is pricy as well. We had to leave because we honestly didn’t fancy getting food poisoning to be honest. All in all, it looks lovely on the outside & the inside is lovely. Just don’t breathe in.

Just the best, shame I don't live in Luton!!!

I'm going to start by saying this place is extremely cheap with decent portion sizes for the price. HOWEVER in terms of food it is a big hit or miss. Me and my partner have found that the side dishes are not tasty and some tasted old (frozen for a long time perhaps) Laksa on the other hand is pretty good (not the best iv'e had but not bad either). Fried udon noodles are some of the best! I haven't tried anything else so will not comment on that. I do not like the service at this place as it is very biased. When i came here with my family the service was rude and we felt extremely rushed, but whenever i come with my Chinese partner i feel like the ladies are much nicer towards us and me especially. Menu far too big with too little time to order. This place is meh but i suppose there is not much choice in Luton.

Absolutely disgusting food and rude staff everything soggy and stale most likely the leftovers from the night before called the restaurant only to have the phone put down on me. Will never order again and I advise everyone else not to order also.

Had two different ramen and their pork gyoza and all was delicious! Def recommend.

I always order the seafood. Sometimes the cashier does not understand English, that sea food is fish. I had to change my review after getting the exact opposite of what I ordered. Today the waitress specifically pointed out sea food Ramon picture and I said yes and no pork. What did I get. Pork. Waitress goes I changed my mind. I said I would never change my mind as I'm Muslim. I cannot fathom how you would get an order completely incorrect.

Hi All, My friend and I decided to have a veggie ramen in this place. It was a last-minute thing as the restaurants closed at 11 pm on Sunday night. The ramen was perfect. My friend, she had authentic ramen in her first lifetime, and we both loved it! It was the first time for both of us to eat in. In Luton Town, it's rare to find such an authentic restaurant like this Chinese restaurant. The staff are very kind, friendly and professional. If you are looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant, then it's your place! I would highly recommend trying the whole menu because the food is excellent! Keep up the fantastic work, Guys! Good food, good ambience. Pretty extensive menu. Some people in our party found the food bland, others loved it. Overall pretty good! Would visit again if in Luton. Portions are pretty big. Reasonably priced.

Local, affordable and wonderful service. Loved their fried rice, black been beef , fried rice. Food was fresh and pretty good. I will definitely recommend them 👌 👍 😊

It was a nice little space for dining in. The was so plisante man which is serving the food came like 3 times to check if everything is OK. Also, nice opportunity if you pay by cash you have 10% off! The 4 stars for the atmosphere were because it was a bit smelly when you enter .

A cosy and intimate restaurant that serves good quality authentic Asian food

The first time here, and we were very impressed with the choice of dishes and the quality and taste of the food. Servic was very good and excellent value for money. Very quiet in the restaurant at lunch time but a nice feel.about the place.

Staff were so friendly and nice. Food arrived quick and piping hot. Ordered the spring rolls (small and not a lot of filling), vegetable gyoza (okay), chilli tempura squid (nice and good portion), beef egg fried rice (nice and big portion), beef laksa noodle (huge and very flavoursome and filling). Curry sauce was also nice. Portions and prices are good.

Such an amazing place with a fantastic range of dishes at very reasonable prices. I had a laksa and some dumplings and it was all delicious. The service was amazing. Super polite and friendly guy that served me. Definitely will go back.

Found ourselves staying in the Premier Inn Luton Airport. Googled Restaurants and this place came up. Read the mixed reviews but decided to give it a go. Well glad we did 🙏 We had a warm welcome from the charming young man called Krai. Look after us well and was very friendly and helpful. Wami Remen special noodles and Ho Fun noodles and green tea Both were very hot and delicious. If you live in the area it worth giving them a try 👍🏼

Delicious food, served quickly. I was a bit worried about whether the waitress would remember all the orders, as she didn't take any notes, but she did remember everything. I think they could take notes of the orders to help them remember. Aside from that, I loved my time there and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Definitely going again in future. The atmosphere is spot-on; so pleasant and immersive. I felt like I stepped into another dimension when I went inside. Loved the aura and atmosphere!

Starter of prawn toast, spring rolls, chicken satay and spare ribs a greasy oily mess. Chicken Kung Po and Singapore noodles good though. So 3/5 for food. Arrived 20mins early (Monday night Premier Inn Luton Airport).

Amazing tasty and great value! I had the noodle soup and was blown away by the creamy and spiciness of the dish. Think of this as your local and wholesome asian restaurant, nothing fancy but really soulful.

Tried this place for the first time, food was tasty but couldnt eat much of the duck I bought as it was full of shattered bones.

Do not use - ordered from Deliveroo and stated 55 mins to delivery. Despatched after 45 mins, 45 mins later and the food is still not here. The restaurant is 15 mins away. Restaurant does not answer the phone, despite multiple calls

Ordered through just eat. Vermicelli soup...greasy and disgusting. Tried to call the restaurant and no answer for literally 30 minutes before I gave up trying - this was at 3pm...hardly prime time. Will never order from here again. I wish I could upload a video of the manky greasy "soup" just slowly dripping of my spoon like 10 day old Chinese. Which I think is what this was

Overpriced, no flavour and small potions.

Quite some reviews are saying that is not the best Chinese restaurant in the area. First, this is a Hong Kong style restaurant, a.k.a. Cha Charn Teng, definitely NOT a Chinese restaurant. Second, this is definitely one of the best cha charn teng in the area. The lamb noodles is unbeatable. People won’t understand how difficult it is to prepare Hong Kong style lamb brisket. Truly authentic!

Someone made a fraudulent order on my Justeat account. I called the restaurant to let them know as i live over 75 miles away so they could cancel and not waste the food and said they would call me back after speaking to the manager. After a while I get a notification to say the food is on it's way so tried calling the restaurant and they ignored my calls. Unsurprisingly they answered when I rang from another number. They said they had to proceed or else would have been in trouble with Justeat however their actions meant that Justeat would not refund me as the food had been delivered by the time I got I touch with them but I had contacted the restaurant 5 mins after the order was made. So thank you for losing me £55 for not listening to me when I said the order was fraud cause now Justeat will not refund me!

I keep reading this place is one of, if not, the best Chinese restaurant in Luton. Let me tell you, it isn't even the best in LU1. Awful food. Really bad quality, bland, greasy and mostly supermarket bought. Also the place has a really bad, damp smell. I totally understand why this place was empty.

I love the place, it's the best place for ramen & dim sum for miles around. 1st time back in about 3 years and I'm afraid I'm removing a star, it smells of blocked drains in there, in fact we almost left. The service was terrible and the food quality isn't quite as good as it was. Don't get me wrong, it was still nice, whereas before I'd have said it was really good. Disappointed

I visited today with my family for lunch. There was ample seating available and the food was served quickly. The flavours were on point and I was able to try out some dishes that were new to me. The member of staff was very helpful and polite. I'd like to visit again in the near future!

I ordered through JustEat and ramen was simply awful. Avoid ramen at all cost!!!

Ordered through just eat. The food was bland with a thick layer or oil on top of the soup. 6 hours later and I started to be violantly sick! Something tasted off and the noodles weren't noodles but Italian spaghetti pasta and clumped together. No reply from them on calling.

I was so excited to visit here as this is one of the very few noodle spots in Luton. Sadly it was a major letdown. The dish that I received was 75% fat, the noodles weren’t fully cooked and it was super bland. Will give it another go but wasn’t a great first trip.

Always one to try a different Chinese restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the enormous selection available from their very comprehensive menu. And at only £34 for the two of us, to include soup, duck, two starters and sweet and sour king prawns with rice, it proved to be excellent value for money for an extremely delicious dinner. And with very friendly staff, it turned out to be an unexpected delight all round; and plenty of adjacent parking, too!

I had the Japanese fried chicken and sirloin ramen. I’ve never had such nice food. Staff were quick to cook and kind to me. If I lived in the local area I would go there for dinner every night. 10/10

I ordered some chicken, noodles soup and vegetable soup. The food tasted bland. The chicken was boiled instead of fried. The delivery man came late which was even worst. Hated the food and won’t be ordering again!

Ordered through uber eats. Order arrived on time which was nice. The food however was not nice! House ramen - disgusting! Absolutely no flavour to the broth. Spat a moutful out it was so bad. Mixed platter for 2 - chicken satay was the best out of all 4 pieces, couldn't finish the ribs. Really disappointed. Waste of money.

It's hard for Asian takeaway to taste authentic in the UK, but this was incredible! We had the ho fun, udon, and seafood ramen, Pak choi and the platter for 2. All dishes were flavourful, plenty of seafood and packaging was beautiful. Food was piping hot on arrival and delivered well within the time slot via deliveroo. Very pleased and if we are ever in Luton again after covid, will be aiming to make a eat-in visit!

Wow, this is something else, would love to have left a photo, but ate it all right away. The delivery driver thanked me for ordering with them and was extremely polite. The food, honestly, I only like healthy tasting food, sometimes you have to take the takeaway option, and this is as authentic as it comes, please give this a try. They got my order exactly right, as if they rang me to confirm exactly how I want it, if I’m back in Luton and in need of a quality meal, I will order from here.

I really loved the inside of the restaurant. It looked really traditional and nice. Tbh I loved the smell of it. And the customer service was actually great. We had to wait for 10mins and they gave us a small snack whilst waiting. They were really kind and cheerful. The food was okay, but I should say the dimsums and gyosas were extra flavourful, like I loved it so much. The fried rice was good and so was the fried noodles. Overall it was a nice experience.

I got a house special ,only waited 2 minits for it ,because they microwave there food, It tasted plasticky ,worst takeaway I have ever had.

Ordered from them through Deliveroo tonight just before 7pm. I was prepared to wait until the estimated delivery time of 7:55pm because their food is so nice. But, 8:20pm rolls around and my food still hadn't arrived. I called the restaurant and the driver called me back to say he was lost. I direct him and he eventually pulls up. He then admits to me that he got lost due to the fact that he only put my road name into the maps, he didn't bother adding the post code in, or even the house number! And what makes it worse is that he has delivered to my house before, too! He told me he remembered the house when he pulled up! Go to open my food, only to find that one whole portion of chicken gyoza is missing, and all of the food is cold (though I did expect it to be cold, considering he was over 30 mins late delivering it in the end🙄). I called the restaurant right away, only to be told it wasn't their driver, so to call Deliveroo. They offered me a measly 5/10% discount off my next order, but that's all they could do. I called Deliveroo and they confirmed that it was in fact the restaurant's driver, not theirs (I already knew that though, as the app wouldn't let me track the driver). Never the less, they still credited my account for the full cost of my order- for something that the restaurant f'd up, not them. I'm happy with Deliveroo, but 100% unhappy with Wamimichi. May never order from you again as this isn't the first time a driver completely messed up. Last time he delivered completely the wrong order 🙄

Very Disappointed, Egg fried rice no taste very bland. The crispy shredded beef was soft and soggy, as if it had been re-heated in the microwave. King prawn noddle, king prawns were very nice by the noodles were burnt and really greasy. Sadly would not use them again or recommend.

I adore their prawn and coriander dumplings. The veg gyoza is spot on. Never had a bad meal delivered from here. The best JAPANESE restaurant around.

Very expensive for the quality. Noodles so and so . Noodles soup we threw it away. You couldn’t eat it.

Ordered from here last week because my local chinese was shut. For the £35 cost for 4 dishes between 2 people I was expecting top restaurant quality food. Instead it was greasy, noodles were just drenched in soy sauce with no flavour and soggy. Salt and pepper ribs .. well it was A rib chopped up into 7 pieces. Large egg fried rice for two supposedly ... about the same size normal portion from my local, nearly 3x the cost. Sweet and sour chicken balls... well the chicken had no flavour, sauce was basically coloured water . Quite simply the worst chinese meal I've ever had .

Orderd online this evening have been charged twice,one delivery arrived ramen soup in bag polystyrene cup had split Rang restrauant got sworn at by manager,because it's the fault of somebody called YOYO.£44.40 No Edible food will reply when bank balance refilled.

Excellent dine in experience. Made quite a large order and everything was served well. My wife wasn't 100% satisfied with the shredded duck but we had no issues with everything else ordered. Service was great and the speed at which the food was served was great.

I've been to a lot of places to eat Chinese food in my time. This may not be the very best, but in terms of convenience, quality of food ordered, Value for money, and customer service., this place is hard to beat. The un fussy, but clean atmosphere adds to the experience . Never had a bad meal there at all.

Super disappointed:( Personally I love Chinese cuisine but never ever again from this restaurant! Spent £35 for myself and my partner and everything had to go to the bin... Start with hot and sour ramen 🤮 maybe hot but definitely not sour. Ramen absolutely tasteless, and consistent of the soup is just disgusting. Then deep fried squid seasoned with chilli salt & pepper... definitely I will try to attach picture if I will be able to. Some peaces was way to crunchy and was hard to have a bite and rest of them were soaked in oil. Crispy shredded chilli beef is one of my favourites but definitely not this one. Way too much of corn starch and it’s just to dry. Dry as everything else from this order. Sad because reviews are quite good, pictures was also good, food looked really tasty...Sorry guys but this time we are really disappointed, angry and still hungry.

Have ordered from this place a couple of times the dim sums are good, good menu and quick delivery .... was disappointed with the duck ramen it came with bones and less meat really unpleasant to eat ... crispy squid wasn’t that great ...maybe dine in will be a better experience !
